Where: The Mini Colony of the Runoff & the Moira.
What: The Moira stops to resupply at the closest planet and things get weird.

E V E N T L O G

Between the Perspectives "but in your future, the you i see is exactly the person you always wanted to be." Supplies have been loaded onto the ship, and the captains have encouraged all crew members to explore with the added notice that this will be the last planetary stop (hopefully) until the Moira reaches the Midway Hub. While seemingly uneventful on the Moira, the mini colony has been thrumming with adventure and has offered its visitors the opportunity to explore. To those who have indulged, some experienced great changes and others discovered enlightening information about the Ingress and the very ship some have called home for over a year. Later in the month, the Lamaria hold the closing ceremony of the Desiderium Festival (which was noted on the prior event log) . The burgundy and lime colors of the celebration slowly fade into black and vermillion, and small fires are now in place for visitors to throw their written notes into. Everyone who participates will be blessed by one of the Lamaria (they will visit the ship as well), and the MID will be able to only translate bits and pieces of what this blessing means. "Experienced loss — every story is different — and saying goodbye — not to know — understanding lies in the mingling of holding on and letting go." ☄ TRANSFORMATION CENTRAL For some, it might be due to a touch or a look. For others, it might not be any of those things at all, and something that just happens. Either way, shortly after the blessing occurs, you will find yourself changing. Your character’s body will slowly transform into the physical likeness of another being on the Mini Colony. The effects of this change may last as short as a day or as long as a week, but each come with their own stipulations—advantages and disadvantages. This is limited to one as the blessing itself only allows for “a little understanding”. Linked below are some of the possible transformations that your character can go through. Players can choose either one of the mod-supplied suggestions or choose the form of another already living on the Moira. ☄ THE FEAR MACHINE Paranoia writes the checks, we're dangling here like a marionette. Here we go again, the world is coming to an end. Engage the fear machine and collect the dividends. While the festival is beautiful, and some have found enlightenment and understanding here, there are those on the mini colony who don't enjoy the festivities. In a secluded room on the fifth floor in one of the buildings in the Science District, there is one such person who finds the religious festival to be a nuisance—one who should be stopped. Thinking that disrupting the blessings and celebration will somehow "get back" at the Lamaria for impeding their work (some of those who have transformed got into the building a few years ago and destroyed this person's property). Pettiness thrives, and they create something they dub The Fear Machine. Yet, while the science is sound, the technology itself is not. In the middle of the mini colony, the machine is set off, and bolts of transparent energy erupt and spark out around it, stretching as far as the docked ships. Since the technology wasn't created properly to sustain the energy, it doesn't spread out evenly like they had hoped. Some are hit. Some are not. Those who are will develop a sudden and overwhelming phobia that will last well into the beginning of November. The machine might be turned off and left behind, but the obsessive fear has only just begun. ( ooc; For questions, go here. Yeah, of course! I definitely had a lot of things on my mind when I was that age as well.

[She believes it's his attempt at trying to crack a joke from his smile. But, she actually did have some major stuff on her mind around that age not as much as him though so she can relate.]

Oh! Sorry, I haven't introduced myself. I'm Rena!

[Hesitantly, she extends her hand out. This is how people usually introduce themselves on Earth, right? She's afraid it won't get reciprocated though so oh well.]

[People have been wanting to shake his hand since day one - don't worry, Rena, he's got this, reaching up to accept that handshake without even batting an eye.]

Have you been aboard long?

It's nice to meet you, Thane! As for your question--it has been not long at all! I believe I've been here for maybe half a week?

[Starting to get somewhat tired, she begins to shift her weight between her two feet. She's been wandering around the entire day and she was hoping that she could rest her feet at least, but it seems somewhat presumptuous of her to ask?

Well, at least she knows that she has to start doing some sort of physical activity again.]

What about you? I haven't seen you on the observation deck before and I've been coming here since I got here.

Nearly three months, now. [Plus or minus that year on Party Bug Island. Three months that he definitely remembers.

...He sees her shifting on her feet. And, since it's polite to offer, and also because it looks like they may be setting up to have a longer conversation, he gestures to the space beside him in an unspoken invitation as he answers her question.]

I've been ill this past month, and not able to leave the medbay. Whatever festival is happening in the colony seems to have affected my physiology and granted me a temporary reprieve, so I'm taking advantage of it.

[Said Thane Krios, King of the Understatement.]

[She gives a nod of thanks as she sits down beside him, setting her book on her lap as she listens to his response. While the ailment concerns her, she's not too sure of how she could help since she can't really do much if it's not currently affecting him? She'll take a mental note to ask about it later in the conversation.]

And you decided to spend your time on the Observation Deck? That doesn't sound like an advantage at all. Did you at least get some fresh air by visiting the colony?

I've been advised against wandering too far. The medbay staff doubt it's a permanent change, and anyway, I like it here.

[Shrug!

Introverts gonna introvert, Rena. It's just how they do.]

[That change should've made him an extrovert!]

What's wrong with your body, anyway? You shouldn't be confined to the ship if it's just an illness.

[That would just be unreasonable!]

My lungs are failing. I've been on a respirator for a couple weeks, now. It's in my best interest to remain close by in the event my symptoms suddenly recur.

[grasstiara]

[Wow, what a way to kill her mood there, Thane.]

... It's really that bad?

[She isn't the type to stand idly by when someone she knows, albeit for a short time, is suffering. Maybe she can try testing out some of her healing Symbology on him later? Though it's somewhat meaningless if she doesn't know how it's affecting him so she opens her book to a blank page at the back to write down some notes.]

What kind of symptoms were you experiencing?

[...At first he'd hidden his illness from new acquaintances because it didn't seem right to just announce "by the way, I'm dying," immediately upon introductions. Then he'd been surprised by the response he'd got from all of those acquaintances-turned-friends upon taking up residence in the medbay (what seemed like) only two short months later.

While he's been stable these past couple of weeks, there haven't been any miracle breakthroughs, although he knows the medbay staff are doing everything in their power to change that. His time is nearly up, and downer though it is, he now believes it's a disservice to any new acquaintances he makes not to inform them of that fact.

Still, her reaction is a bit of a surprise.]

Are you a doctor, Rena?

[He's not skeptical, merely curious.]

[Looking up from the book, she cocks her head to the side at his question. Was it too strange of her to go immediately into that?

--Well, now that she thinks about it, it kinda is since he barely got acquainted with her. She doesn't blame him for asking that question.]

Oh-- I'm... not. Not on this ship anyway. I went to Earth to study medicine, but I've been my village's resident healer since I could remember. There was also that business with the Ten Wise Men, but that involved more fighting than anything.

[Well. she supposes it should count cause she had to heal up everyone's injuries in between or during their fights.]

[He'll answer he question about his symptoms momentarily - don't think he's forgotten! But she's piqued his curiosity with one simple statement...]

You're not native to Earth?

[That's actually a rarity around these parts, it seems. Most of the humans he knows come from some iteration of the planet. The others who come from elsewhere seem to all have never heard of it at all.]

[She doesn't mind him not answering the symptoms, but she'll be sure to grab them before they finish up their conversation.]

Not at all! Do I look like one to you?

[She noticed that other races in her galaxy all look similar to humans--minus some minor differences like three eyes and pointed ears. So she doesn't blame him if she gets mistaken as one.]

[Well this is interesting!]

You do look quite human, yes. Although, I suppose - given the current circumstances - that appearances shouldn't be implicitly trusted.

[Said the green lizard alien currently stuck looking like a human.]

Oh, right, you did say that your physiology changed. I'm sure it's not that drastic of a change though!

[She's going to probably quadruple check she has the right person when he changes back and fuss over him being green since that usually means they have an ailment.]

I suppose that depends on how you define "drastic."

[It's a huge change for Thane, but who knows, maybe Rena won't see much of a difference between his current appearance and his proper one.]

A lifetime in an overly humid environment has irreparably damaged my lungs and eroded their ability to process oxygen. Humans don't experience the same problems with humidity as my species...or any problems, that I'm aware of, so at the moment I'm healthier than I have been in years.

[And there's her answer about his symptoms!]

... You don't have a dragon on your back, do you?

[That seems like a pretty extreme change to her and the only viable example she can think of at the moment.

--She wasn't exactly ready for that information so she spends a few moments scrambling for her pen before she begins to jot down some notes. It doesn't seem like it's a pathogen-inflicted case which she's relieved about, but healing internal organs isn't something she's well-practiced in; even more so with the fact he says his physiology is different from humans.]

Hm...

[She taps the back of her pen idly on her chin as she furrows her brow. The only two solutions she can come up with is using the force of her healing power to stimulate the body to heal the eroded tissue of the lungs, but she isn't entirely sure how effective it would be. The second solution would involve using one of her support spells to strengthen his lungs. In theory it should work considering she's able to strengthen people's fighting abilities and defenses, but it's a temporary solution at best.

Well, it doesn't hurt to try when he turns back, she supposes, and focuses her attention back to the other.]

Have you ever heard of Symbology before, Thane?

...I'm not sure what a dragon has to do with anything? But no, I don't.

[He watches quietly while she scribbles down her notes, both curious and touched by her attention.]

Hmm...I've heard the word, but somehow I get the feeling there's more to it for you than the definition I'm familiar with.

[Please elaborate!]

Oh-- It was just my example of a drastic change since one of my friends back home had two of them. So your change shouldn't be that surprising?

[That's pretty difficult to top in her opinion, but she'll see.]

Well, symbology where I'm from is basically using symbols to perform unnatural feats! --I'm not an expert at all in explaining it, so I think it'd be better to demonstrate...

[Turning to Thane, she raises a hand and mumbles an incantation which results in the surface of said hand emitting a faint light blue glow. Using her other hand, she points to the space in front of it.]

Can you try punching this? It doesn't have to be lightly either.

[When hit, it feels similar to a concrete wall and a transparent-looking sphere seems to be enveloping her hand. Though it's only visible for a split second when touched.]

[He listens intently to her explanation and watches closely as she holds up her hand to demonstrate. The glow reminds him of a mass effect field, so he's willing to take her at her word, so he makes a fist and aims it at her palm. He uses a carefully measured amount of force - enough for a firm impact, but no more. His knuckles encounter an invisible barrier a small distance from her upheld hand, and create a brief flicker of light at the impact site.]

Interesting. I'm guessing it has more than just that one application?

[She nods, withdrawing her hand as the blue hue dissipates from its surface.]

Yes, that was an example of using light symbology at least. I believe there are other variations for each element, but my specialty happens to be healing. So I think it would be worth a shot to try it when you turn back?

[Unless they have a solution for it already then, yay!!]

I see. If you're willing to try, then I have no objections.

[Though he does advise against getting her hopes up...but for some reason he can't quite bring himself to say so. How odd.]

Perhaps you'll find the current research being done regarding my condition to be informative - You can find what there is of it in the medbay, at your convenience.

Really? That would be helpful!

[She pauses--now that she thinks about it, is information in the Medbay accessible by all members? Being new sucks.]

Would it really be alright though? I'm not exactly part of the Medbay team...

I don't see why it wouldn't be. The staff there is generally quite open to acquiring new members. [He pauses thoughtfully.] When I was first pulled here, I was assigned a job. Were you not given one during your briefing?

[If she's got an obvious passion and gift for medicine, he would have thought she'd have been assigned to the medbay in some capacity...]

I was... The job that I was given wasn't related to the medbay, though.

[Which makes her question how the captains even assigned the jobs in the first place. Not that she's bitter over being a cleaning staff; she's perfectly fine with it (albeit a bit disappointed), but why the Ingress department of all the divisions?]

What job were you assigned?
