Kkkkind of? Ish? It's important to me. Probably like a....4 to you though.
[AWKWARD SMILES ALL AROUND. riptide suddenly feels very nervous and very stupid.]
no subject
You're wasting my time.
[Because right now, seeing Riptide standing there is a stark reminder that they lost two people to this mutiny. Two sparks extinguished. One given to save them all.]
[A mutiny that he couldn't stop. A mutiny that he couldn't see coming because he'd grown complacent.]
[A mutiny he may have deserved.]
no subject
[he huffs, realising that this entire thing IS stupid and balls the letter up (all five pages) and tosses it into the nearest bin.]
Forget it.
no subject
Good work. I'll be sure I add the proper commendation to your file.
[The way he says this is almost too autonomous.]
Now, if you're done showing me how to properly dispose of trash. I am sure there is something more important you can be using your time for.
no subject
[he turns on his heel.]
Ultra... not very approachable Magnus.
no subject
I was under the impression that the fact that I had become more approachable, more lenient in my duties, that it caused you, as well as the majority of the rest of the crew, to see me as someone who turned his back on you in favor of Megatron.
And, I admit. I was too relaxed. I had too much...
I was having...fffff...
Fun.
And look where that landed us. Landed me.
I'm rectifying what was clearly a grievous error.
[As he speaks, his voice slips. The autonomous tone cracks exposing the more heated voice underneath.]
'Stop trying.' Your words, Riptide. And I found them to be true. That the only way to prevent that level of complacency is to keep the crew at arm's length. To do my duty and due diligence as the Second-in-Command of the Lost Light. A duty I fully intend to carry out aboard the Moira as well.
Because of my negligence, two comrades died.
It will never. Happen. Again.
no subject
[riptide isn't sure why he's saying these stupid things. he's not sure why he thinks this was the right way to go, but for some reason he can't stop himself.]
That's all it always comes back to! Ultra Magnus, Ultra Magnus, Ultra Magnus!
no subject
[But something seemingly holds him back...and instead, the larger bot pushes by Riptide.]
[And as he does so, he says one simple thing.]
Ultra Magnus is dead, Riptide.
no subject
he lets magnus push past him, optics going hollow for a moment. everyone dying is the outcome he's expected for a long time.]
Sure he is. I'm going.
1/???
[A short time later, however, curiosity gets the better of Magnus, and he returns to the scene. He rummages through the bin to recover the note that Riptide had crumpled up, then wanders into his room.]
[He sits at his desk, the crumpled note still in a ball in front of him. Anxiously, he taps his digits on the side of the desk. Did he want to read this? Was this really something he wanted to deal with right now? There was already so much...]
[He reaches for it and carefully sorts the crumpled pages out, pressing them firmly on his desk until they were reasonably flattened.]
2/3
[What he finds...well, he finds an honest and sincere apology. He finds that Riptide was actually benefiting from Magnus' continued interventions...that he was...he was doing better. He was thanking Magnus.]
[And then...then came the praise. How Riptide actually looked up to Magnus. And how...how after everything that had happened, Riptide would honestly and truly try and make things right. That he may never have all of their trust ever again but...he was going to persevere...]
DONE
[Slowly, he reclines in his chair.]
[After everything that happened...after everything that was going to happen...he never expected a 'thank you' note come from one of the sources of his internal conflict. His spark constricted. His engine shuddered.]
[Slowly, he brings a weary, creaking hand up to his face, shielding his optics from his desk lamp. His fingers run along the crest of his helm, and his optics darken.]
[He falls silent.]
[He's thankful he's alone right now. It would be difficult to explain the thin lines of light trickling from behind his hand.]
