Re: B.
He turns, showing no sign of surprise, although he definitely doesn't recognize the wolfish creature standing before him at first. After a few moments of staring, though, and a good look at the monster's features, he thinks he's got an idea? "Snake?" he asks, a wide grin slowly overtaking his face, revealing his vampiresque fangs. "Almost didn't recognize you underneath all the hair."
Snake certainly looks worse for wear. Liquid doesn't look massively different than he usually does; while the extremely pale skin, red eyes, and fangs aren't part of his normal ensemble, he's still pretty easily recognizable as Liquid Snake. He's got a look of almost-desperation, though, one he doesn't realize he's giving off; the thirst isn't easily quenched.
Speaking of, seems his target's headed far in the opposite direction while he was distracted by Snake's appearance. His eyebrows furrow a bit in disappointment, but he's used to his brother showing up to ruin his plans. There's plenty of bloodbags on this colony and he can always find someone else.
"I was just heading out for something to drink. Something wrong?"
no subject
Granted, Liquid isn't looking so great himself, something Snake picks up on as soon as he sees those sharp fangs and red eyes. It shouldn't be a relief that someone else has also changed (if not as dramatically), and Snake can see that Liquid's stuck with his own kind of yearning.
For what, is the question, not that Snake can even answer that about himself.
Something to drink, Liquid says. It looks like he's set aside his status as a celebrity for the moment, then. At the question, Snake narrows his wild eyes and tilts his head to one side, in a mannerism not so unfamiliar. Strangely enough, speaking to someone he knows helps him to better reassert his own personality, at least for now.
"You tell me," he growls.
no subject
Problems that he is trying to treat as not-problems that are definitely not here, although he's doing a terrible job of it. One would think drinking some blood already would solve the problem, but either he needs a hell of a lot more, or he'll never stop being thirsty, and either option isn't exactly a good time. Where are the kind of people who are really, really into vampires when you need them?
He seems slightly taken aback by his words at first, then he laughs, shaking his head. "That's the sort of question you yourself can only really answer, isn't it? Hell, far as I know you like whatever's happened. I'm sure someone who's undergone this whole bloody process is having a lovely time." Whoever it is, it's not him right now. Oh, he doesn't completely hate it, and he's sure once he's got this thirst thing under control, it'll be great, but still.
"You certainly seem to have got it rough, brother."
no subject
Still, he would rather not focus on him. His changes are obvious just by looking at him, and any urges he might be feeling will go unmentioned if at all possible. That's between him and his own brain, thank you very much.
"Feels a little like I got the short end of the stick," he snarls. Then again, he hasn't seen what everyone else has turned into, and Liquid's changes remain largely a mystery. Snake looks him up and down once more before grunting out a question. "So, what happened to you?"
no subject
"Looks like it too." Even with all the bloodlust in the world, Liquid's grateful that he at least resembles himself. Being a Sangui might not be the same as being human, but at least pretty much everything's where it should be.
He can't stand having a beard; no way he could handle having hair covering his body like that.
He waved a hand flippantly, although it doesn't come across quite as casual as he'd hoped. Not that he notices. "Oh, you know. Get an innocuous seeming blessing, end up a bloody vampire. The usual. Have to admit... I could get used to the fangs."
no subject
It's difficult enough for them to be around each other when they're both human, but whatever's stirring in Snake is spoiling for a fight and Liquid gives him the perfect reason to act on that when he admits to what he's changed into.
"A vampire," Snake echoes in a much rougher voice, chest heaving and fingers twitching as he looks at those pointed canines set into Liquid's mouth. At least now his theory about the blessing has been confirmed.
"So that's what you're up to." Snake had known Liquid was skulking around for some reason, but if he really is a vampire, then it's not hard to put two and two together. He's planning to attack someone.
no subject
He's still got to contend with his instincts, but at least they're not controlling him. For now; the thirst is always there, almost like he's always had it, and if his brother delays him too long he's not so sure what would happen.
Not that he'd skip out on the chance to give him shit for being worse off than him, though. Can't miss that opportunity.
"No, I'm just taking a lovely nighttime stroll. Of course that's what I'm up to. Being a vampire." Sure, he gets the implications of what Snake means, but why should it matter? Not like he's gonna kill anyone.
"And you? Out howling at the moon or something?"
no subject
Either way, he doesn't deign Liquid's question with a response.
Snake's already had to deal with one bloodsucking freak back on Big Shell. Obviously Vamp had been a different scenario, but the point is that someone's sucked Snake's blood before, and he knows it's not something most people are going to just consent to.
"You can't just attack people because you can't keep your own urges under control," Snake snaps, even though he looks more and more like he's getting ready to do just that. Liquid needs to be stopped before he hurts some innocent bystander, and isn't it Snake's job to take a part in that?
Not to mention that right now, there's a feral part of him that just wants to pounce. He settles back on his haunches, ready to spring into action at a moment's notice.
no subject
It's hard being a bloodsucking freak.
"Who says I'm just going to attack people?" he asks, in the tone of voice that indicates that's exactly what he was planning to do. "Clearly I can control it, or I wouldn't be standing here talking to you, would I? If there's others... like this on the colony, then perhaps they're a normal occurrence, and there's bound to be someone who might like letting someone have a little taste."
It's a pretty good excuse that he just pulled out of his ass.
"Suppose I'm looking for a goth club."
no subject
While thinking back on that actually does help ground Snake a little more, he also isn't planning to let Liquid wander off into the night and attack some unsuspecting person, regardless of his claims that he'll ask first.
Without any response or any warning, Snake stalks forward, moving surprisingly quick for his size. He lifts a clawed hand and presses it hard against Liquid's chest, aiming to shove him against the nearest wall. He growls in his face, hot breath gusting out against Liquid's skin.
Wolf breath probably doesn't smell that great, either.
"You honestly expect me to believe that?" he snarls.
no subject
If only everything had gone that well, maybe he wouldn't even be here.
After stating his case (and lying through his teeth) he figures it's about time to leave and even starts to take a step. So it's definitely sudden when he finds himself shoved into the wall, the surprise hitting him before he has a chance to even think about dodging the blow. With an indignant grunt, he sneers at his brother's unpleasant growling, and everything that goes with it.
"You are absolutely disgusting," he says, in about the most offended tone he can muster. He grabs at Snake's hand (paw?) and moves to shove it away. While he still needs to be better fed, he at least has the Sangui strength to go along with what he's got naturally.
"I don't expect you to do anything, brother," he hisses. "But I'd appreciate it if you'd keep your bloody dog slobber out of my personal space."
no subject
Then again, he's just about ready to get into a fierce fight with someone who's supposed to be on his side, weak and artificial as that alliance might be, but Liquid's hardly an innocent.
"This isn't about you appreciating anything," Snake counters even as he's shoved back enough that he has to take a couple of stabilizing steps. He still uses his much more intimidating body to block Liquid from going anywhere, personal space very much invaded.
"Don't think I'm letting you go anywhere." Not without one hell of a fight, anyway. Snake isn't going to let there be more blood on his hands because he took his eyes off of his mess of a brother.
no subject
As human-ish as he may look compared to Snake, he doesn't exactly feel like it.
"Oh? Not content to watch your brother die just one way, are you? You'd like to watch me starve to death too?"
Dramatic, yes, but the need just won't go away. It's more than just a hunger, and if Snake keeps this up, he's not sure what'll happen.
"I know you like to think you're saving the world and all that, but I don't think you quite understand. This isn't just something I can turn off. It's... bloody hell, it's everything." He glares at him, trying to mentally prepare escape routes. Like hell his brother's going to stop him from doing anything this time.
"I'm not going to kill anyone," he adds, as an afterthought.
no subject
While there's no denying that Snake isn't fully of control of himself, he knows enough to realize that he can't let Liquid out of his sight until this mess fixes itself. No matter how much Liquid might want to get away from him right now, that isn't going to happen.
"You're not going to starve," he insists. "This'll all be over in a few days." It's happened so many times by now that Snake hardly even questions it anymore. Space enjoys turning them into things, changing them, but it never lasts for long.
"You think you won't kill anyone, but if the hunger's as bad as you're making it sound? You can't really trust yourself to be careful." Snake's hand presses against the wall, sharpened claws digging in to bracket Liquid, trapping him further. The message is clear: he's not going anywhere.
no subject
But he can't very well tell Snake any of that, because that'd just make things even more annoying.
"A few days?" Liquid's not so sure. His glass arm never returned to flesh, after all, and he's certain that even if he does turn back to normal, that smoke issue he's been dealing with isn't going to go away. "So you intend to stay here for a few days, then, hm? Better hope you need just as little nourishment as I apparently do, according to you, or you're going to starve to death just the same."
Not quite a threat, no. Just a warning.
"I can trust myself a hell of a lot better than I can trust you," he snarls, fangs bared in an attempt to intimidate. Once he makes it seem like he's apparently trapped, though, he quickly ducks and tries to make a break for it, hoping to trip his brother up along the way.
no subject
Not any innocent bystanders, anyway.
Liquid, however, is neither of those things. The baring of fangs would have been more than enough to set Snake off, that last straw that would drive him to attack, but then Liquid tries to maneuver around him and that's the end of any shade of decency.
There is a part of him now that wants to hunt, to dig his teeth and his claws into something, and that's what drives Snake to leap after Liquid in an impressive leap that allows him to cross most of that distance in one shot.
If he manages to reach Liquid, he'll tackle him to the ground with a scrape of his claws through any part of his flesh that he can find.
no subject
Well, at least, that's the plan.
Like hell he's letting his brother dictate what he gets to eat or where he gets to go. Nobody's going to miss a little bit of blood. He's fast, he's strong, but he's hungry, and he doesn't react as fast as he should. Not that he expects his brother to catch up with him so fast in the first place. Snake knocks him down, and he feels claws digging into the fleshy part of his arm.
Oh, fuck. That hurts. Although the really painful part is the fact that he wasn't able to get away. Not that he's just going to let his brother beat up on him, though.
It's been a long time since he actually fought Snake, and he intends to get away from him in any way he can. Now that he's, well, grounded, he grabs at Snake's arm, trying to pull him down and pull himself up at the same time. He'll deal with the bleeding (oh god he's so hungry) later.
"Can't just leave well enough alone, can you?"
no subject
Neither of them are quite themselves right now, and both of them are struggling with cravings and urges that they've never had to contend with on this level. It had been inevitable that it would become a fight, and a nasty one at that.
The thing is, Snake's good at close-quarters fighting too, when he has to be. Maybe Liquid's punches had been a little stronger than his during their fistfight on RAY, but in the end Snake's technique (and his calm, while Liquid had been unraveling) had won the fight.
So when Liquid pulls him down, Snake actually sees it as an opportunity, snapping with those giant teeth in close proximity to Liquid's face. He doesn't actually bite him, but it's a close thing. Now that he's actually torn through flesh with his claws, he digs them in further, relishing in the vindication of catching a target.
He's past the point of talking now and he doesn't care. All he wants to do is put Liquid in a state where he won't be able to go hunt down anyone else.
no subject
He can't even imagine getting to that point right now, though.
He's sure he's got him once he pulls him down, ready to get to his feet and make a break for it, but before he gets the chance, Snake snaps his teeth in his face with that disgusting dog breath and it takes all Liquid can muster not to recoil. The hunger is really messing up his reflexes, which just pisses him off more. He should be better at this, a better match, but desperation is ruining everything.
Getting away is his number one priority. Any other day, retaliation might be the name of the game, but he just needs blood, and like hell he's going to bother with his brother's. Not with all that fur in the way. It'd probably taste disgusting anyway.
Actually, he should probably get that arm looked at.
Trying to rip his injured arm out of Snake's grasp, he hisses wordlessly, fangs still bared. While he'd rather just get the hell out of here and find blood, part of him definitely wants a fight, no matter what. And if that's what Snake wants, well.
He just cracks his head off Snake's, what with it being so close and all. Desperate times, desperate measures.
no subject
For the moment, though, all he gets for his trouble is a headbutt. Snake snarls, pain erupting behind his eyes from their heads knocking together. He recoils, his grip easing off of Liquid just slightly as the ringing in his head drowns everything out for a few seconds.
It might provide Liquid with a small opening, but it's not going to last long. Still, if he wants to get his shots in, here's his chance...
no subject
Why should he run? It's Snake who started it in the first place, isn't it? So maybe Liquid should finish it.
Before Snake gets the chance to recover (hopefully, anyway), he closes back in, gripping a handful of fur with the hand on his injured arm. He goes for an attempted punch to the head with the good one, and then when his body decides he just can't take it anymore, he moves to sink his fangs into whatever part of his arm he can get to. It's not the neck, but it'll do.
Apparently, if he gets hungry enough, he can deal with the fur for a little while.
no subject
For another, this is probably the best case scenario.
Every instinct screams at Snake to fight back, to shove Liquid away and then attack him again, with more intent to harm this time around. But instead he focuses on the rush that comes from losing blood and goes still, watching silently as Liquid sucks at his arm. This is nothing short of surreal.
He has no idea what his blood even tastes like right now, if it's still human or if it's something else. But it seems to be getting the job done, and he can handle losing a pint or two if that's what it takes to keep Liquid in line. At least he hadn't gone for the jugular the way Vamp did, so he'll take it.
no subject
Finding somewhere to bite is a little harder with the fur to contend with, but he just lets his instincts guide him. They seem to have this down.
There's a part of him that can't help but entertain the idea of never letting go until his brother's finally dead like he'd wanted that long ago, but the logical part of him squashes that thought just as quickly as he'd had it.
The last thing he needs is to get kicked off the ship for a vampiric blood rampage.
When he's had enough to be sated for the time being, with plenty left for Snake to keep being alive and everything, he pulls his fangs out, taking a step back and making a show of disgustedly pulling fur out of his mouth. Looks like he's calmed down a bit.
"That wasn't quite my intention, but..."
no subject
Thankfully, that doesn't become an issue. Liquid takes a fair amount of blood, enough to have Snake feeling a little unsteady in the aftermath, but it's nothing life-threatening.
That being said, he does have a wound in his arm now -- two, in fact, where Liquid's fangs had sunk in. Some pressure and a clean bandage should get him fixed up in no time, and then he could probably sleep for a good twelve hours if he wanted. Maybe that would be the best thing, since it means his current furry state will come to an end sooner.
"Doesn't matter." For as worked up as Snake had been before, he's calm now, more focused on his arm than on Liquid as he presses his opposite hand against the puncture points.
Eventually he levels his gaze on Liquid, expression controlled but firm. "So if I tell you to get your ass back to the ship now, are you gonna listen to me?"
no subject
He's absolutely willing to stay here and stand his ground about going out even if he doesn't need blood so much anymore, but a movement of his arm makes him wince slightly. He can't exactly go clubbing or whatever the hell nightlife they've got this late with the big wound in his shoulder, and he acquiesces with a theatrical sigh.
"Fine." He holds his hands up, one higher than the other. Better go get this patched up, even if it means listening to his brother.
He turns to head back, but stalls for a second. "Thanks," he grumbles, begrudgingly.
