arno dorian // vampires in SPAAAAAAACE // ota
He hadn't honestly participated much in the festival- he'd been invited and agreed to it, but kept to himself and was actually up and away from most views as he watched what went on below. As much as he respected it, it pained him for home and for the Drabwurld, and he'd rather spend the time remembering by himself, rather than with people.
For the first time in a long while, Arno realizes he feels incredibly lonely.
The MID places some meaning behind words to a blessing he doesn't understand, and he listens, but doesn't do much else. A local native captures his eyes as he descends, red eyes locking onto his before she smiles, and is gone.
It's hours later that he feels his eyes begin to itch, as if he's scratched them for hours and they've run dry. Arno places a hand over his eyes and sighs, rubbing them slightly. Did he overwork himself again? Is he exhausted from both the party and now being in the mini colony for too long? But the itch doesn't recede, only gets worse. And now his mouth aches along with his eyes itching, the Frenchman growing irritated and chomping down on his teeth in an effort to make the ache go away. Which only makes it worse, because he suddenly finds that he's biting the inside of his mouth without even pressing down on his jaw too hard.
Suddenly it's no longer a question of being tired- something is clearly wrong.
He makes his way through the crowds and tries to head to the Moira, eventually leaning against a wall of a building and trying to keep a stoic facade. That, of course, fails miserably. All different types of people and creatures pass him by, and he tries not to notice the fact that every part of him is beginning to feel cold the longer he stays there. He eventually searches for someone, anyone who may know where the ship is. He needs to get to the medbay.]
Where is the Moira? [He's caught the attention of some passerby, who begin to speak with him. His tone is far more aggressive than he wants, but he's panicking and it's beginning to show in how his now red eyes flicker across everyone that passes by.] I need- I need to see someone at the medbay. [They offer him a few local doctors for the mini colony, but he shakes his head, insisting to be brought back to the ship.] No, thank you, but I need to get back-
[A native wanting to help reaches out to touch his shoulder, gently placing a hand to ask if he's alright. Arno instead whirls and hisses, teeth revealed to have become fangs now bared, before he shrinks back in absolute terror at what he's done. This is wrong, all of it is wrong. He steps back, away, trying to distance himself from everyone and just get out.]
I'm sorry, I didn't mean- just let me be!
[Someone is clearly spooked and not taking this transformation well at all.]
[b. Because we're all technically monsters, darling (closed to Isha)
Moro #8 has been rather quiet as of late, Arno choosing to not stay in one place for very long most of the time. He's sure that Isha doesn't mind, seeing as they haven't had many problems or very few as of yet in their time being supposed "roommates."
As of right now, however, it's occupied with a potential brooding space vampire, and he's not really wanting to open the door to anyone. He isn't exactly expecting someone to barge in, though.
c. They did the mash (they did the Monster Mash)
Getting used to being a Sangui takes time- Arno is incredibly adaptive, but even he struggles to be in full control when it comes to becoming a new species entirely. Case in point: while feeding is something he's learned how to work with, it's turning into bats that's proving to be the one thing he's lacking control in. The bat swarm is small, but it flitters about to and fro depending on how Arno feels when he becomes the small flock. Being startled usually is the cause; that and feeling certain emotions tend to do it as well.
He's making his way around when he turns a corner and nearly bumps into someone. Only instead of bumping into them, he suddenly becomes a flock of bats and flies all around them before rejoining. Arno turns immediately and looks for whoever he's run into, hands raising up in an apology.]
Sorry, my apologies. I'm still not used to this whole thing.
[wildcard]
(have something? hmu and I'll roll with it!)

But there's someone else who's freaking out, and he's having a hard time of it. He's asking for the medbay and she knows he must be from the Moira. Even with her condition, she wants to help. ]
Here, over here. Let's go.
[ She hopes he'll trust her, but he, too, recoils, shouting that he wants to be left alone. Ava isn't certain if he's speaking to her or someone else. ]
No, wait-- I'm from the Moira. I can help you. [ Her voice wavers, unused to being assertive. She sounds more scared than anything. ] I'm not your enemy.
no subject
I don't know what this is- [He swallows and almost bites his tongue trying to clench his jaw shut, his canines far longer than normal.] I don't want to hurt anyone. I just need to get to the medbay.
[He's afraid more than anything else; it shows in how he stands and how his hands raise themselves as if he's expecting someone to launch themselves at him in a fury. He doesn't recognize the woman speaking to him, but at this point, Arno will take anyone who knows the Moira and is willing to help. Better that then to do something he'll eventually regret.]
no subject
[ But the people there are staring at the both of them, and Ava reaches for Arno's arm to try to pull him in her direction. As she does so, she sees Arno's mouth, his teeth, and it brings her to an abrupt halt. Her hand pauses, outstretched, her eyes widening. ]
You're--
[ There's no time. Arno is terrified by the look in his eyes, seems completely ill at ease, and she closes her hand around his arm. ]
Come on, this way. We need to get out of here.
[ And she needs to make sure he's okay. She doesn't know how long he's been like this or if he's eaten, and that will be first on his priority once the change truly hits him. ]
no subject
And that's when the ravenous hunger settles deep into his bones.
Arno lets out a sound from his mouth that's a mixture of a wheeze and a whimper, one of his hands reaching for Ava's arm and gripping it hard. He stops in his tracks, far too confused and frightened to do much else.] There's something- [Something wrong, he wants to say, but it's obvious enough in how he finds himself searching all around him now, eyes drifting from person to creature back to Ava, seeking for something he doesn't really understand. All he knows is that he's hungry, and that whatever he's wanting isn't normal by any means.]
no subject
As they head across the street, Arno stops behind her, eyes wide, a choked noise in his throat. She looks back at him, hand still on his arm to keep him moving.
She knows exactly what's wrong. ]
No.
[ Ava says it as gently as she can muster, too afraid of what might happen if they don't keep moving. This planet could be like any other and the danger of exposure is real. ]
Not here. We need to get you away from people. Then...we'll figure something out. If you stay here, around all of these people, it's going to get worse.
[ It's not commanding. It's more like a plea. ]
Soon, okay? Just...not here.
stop that!!
But she does need to, sometimes, get back to her room. Some of those times includes when she wants to be more alone than usual. She's been craving more solitude as of late. Perhaps her shift into a deep blue-skinned alien with golden tattoos has something to do with it.
The door is... closed? Strange... She knocks loudly with her metal hand. They can't ignore something that loud, whoever they are.]
non je refuse
[The voice is muffled from behind the door, but Arno is on his back on his bunk, staring blankly at the ceiling and unwilling to move. A hand covers his eyes just for a moment as he tries to make it seem like there's no one in the room at all.
He doesn't want company, and he's too far stuck in his own brooding session to really care who it is beyond the door.]
non UR ASS
She scoffs loudly, literally the only warning she gives as she rapidly opens the door.]
Bite me, Armo, you're not the only one who lives here.
WHY THANK YOU his ass is quite exquisite
The irony isn't lost on him in her retort. He's just too irked to really comment on it, and he's going to prove why he wants to be left alone.]
NON.
Q, naturally, starts barking angrily at the bats. Isha?]
Are you serious?
[She simply just stomps her way through the bats, swatting away whatever dares to come near her face.]
Put those away or I swear to whatever deity is most convenient for you that I will find a way to put them away for you.
no subject
The slapping, at least, seems to knock some sense into him. Arno reforms and places a hand at his jaw, shifting it back and forth a little to relieve the sting. Already, he feels awful for what he's done.]
Merci. [A beat, and his eyes finally meet Isha's.] I deserved that.
[He's at least a bit more talkative and far more approachable now, thankfully.]
no subject
[She feels... no, she doesn't feel bad at all, she fully believes he deserved that, and she's really not in the mood to be nice when she's so tired.]
So I guess we're both not ourselves, are we?
[Q barks a last time, then settles down, highly alert. Bats.]
Keep your bats out of your dreams or I'll really hit you next time.
no subject
He sighs, finally sitting down on the bunk right by him.]
I wouldn't say so, no. [He pauses, eyes wandering to Q and then to Isha again.]
I'll avoid dreaming of bats if you promise not to be around me for a part of the evening. Deal?
[He doesn't want to put her in danger if he needs to feed.]
no subject
[She scrubs her face, trying her damnedest not to snap or not to just slump over and fall asleep.
Isha settles for a middle point instead: slouching on her own bunk, tired as ever, but somehow, still a cocky empress of a sort.]
If you're going to suck my blood, do it quick, it might get rid of all the alcohol that might still be in my system.
c - sorry this starter is short and dumb
Used to—what?!
no shhh best starter
Arno blinks upon rejoining and then snorts in amusement, crossing his arms.]
I'm still not used to turning into bats, or how to not turn into them.
[Someone is not taking Nate's question seriously.]
no subject
Okay. Go back. Why are you turning into fucking bats?
no subject
You haven't noticed almost half the Moira has gone through some changes recently? [He pauses and thinks.] I'm not sure why, of course, but it's happened, and random people are now different creatures and whatnot.
no subject
[He squints at him.]
Are you...okay? Aside from the bats thing. You look kind of peaky.
no subject
[He has suddenly turned into a bat-sona, complete with fangs and red eyes.
There's the slightest edge of a smirk on Arno's face as Nate asks if he's okay, however.]
I'm fine. I believe the Sangui are similar to what people call "vampires," only they live in space. There's quite a lot that comes with being one, as I'm finding.
no subject
[Well, that's. Concerning. He gives Arno another look-over, lingering at his mouth, looking for fangs.]
Yeah, I imagine so. Are you feeling...thirsty?
no subject
If you're looking for the fangs, they're there. And no, I'm fine, to answer your question. [A pause, and he sighs.] I'm not exactly fond of the feeding aspect of it- I don't think I've met anyone else who is, truthfully.
