[Nate blinks.] Not much. They're pretty strong. We had them in the training center in school, but the instructors said not to fight them unless you're really experienced.

Probably good advice, but still—that's really cool.

Yeah, I guess.

[He brightens a little as he remembers that what's not exactly ordinary, at least half expected to him is not for someone who's only been on their world and the ship, and then adds:]

They weren't dinosaurs like on our world, from millions of years ago, though. Monsters were from the moon.

Usually.

Oh, of course. Monsters on the moon. I wouldn't expect anything else.

[He sounds like he might even be half-serious.]

We run into any alien dinosaurs here, then, I'm relying on you.

[Nate grins.] Yeah, sure, but the zombies are probably more your department.

What other 'fun' [or actual fun, he's not picky] stuff do I have to look forward to?

Hmm...well, I've been on a few cool jobs that didn't involve cursed statues. Magic could probably come in handy there, actually. You might do better than I did.

One time this guy hired me to find the third piece of treasure in a set, but he didn't even realize it was already in a statue he had in his safe. Until we broke in to grab it ourselves, anyway.

[The thought of doing better than his older self gives him an extra boost of energy to get through the last of the vines - to find just more jungle. Cool.]

How stupid was this guy?

Eh, it wasn't his fault. He'd have had to smash it to know. But he wasn't the brightest guy around.

[Nate shrugs.]

People like that make good clients. Wouldn't be much work for me if they could do it all themselves.

You'd still have the people who're too rich and lazy and scared of danger to do it themselves.

[sketchycharacter]

Yeah, that's true. Not always enough of the rich ones, though.

[Nate nods, looking thoughtful.]

I wanted to do that, back on the other world. Figured there'd be a market for it somewhere. I was just going to stick around Garden to pick up what I needed to about the world and the history. [Also, the free food.] But it kinda grew on me.

[sketchycharacter]

If it taught you something worth learning, I'd say it was worth sticking around.

[He's not anti-school. Just anti-everything that came with it, for him.]

Yeah, it had its moments. And people.

But it's nice to try and get back to the treasure. [If there's anything out in this jungle.]
