the lucid disparity revisited
"Never be the first to arrive or the last to go, and never, ever be both."

By now, time has passed, and most of the crew have found some sort of comfortable groove with the natives of the unnamed island they crashed near. Partying, gambling and drinking, and more… Even the mysterious pool has given people who could answer its riddle insight in this confusing time. However, as the nights and days continue to progress and the parties begin to blur together, things are… odd. The hosts are still as kind as ever, offering anything and everything those at the temple-like building could ask for, but every so often, the world around them appears different. Clear, as if a fog had been lifted. Yet, it’s only a blink, and then, it’s gone, returning everyone to their regularly scheduled eternal party.

Down on the beach, the Captains are still as busy as ever working with those capable to restore function to the Moira. On the morning of the 20th, Navigator Manasseh’s vitals begin to slowly return to normal, her status on the Directory reverting to GREEN, and with it, life is brought back to the Moira. This, of course, means everyone is able to board the ship and leave, but most of the crew who traveled through the jungle and stayed at the party aren’t exactly willing to go just yet. Prior to this, a few of the crew who suddenly realized things were strange and that the people around them were acting strange - themselves included - approached Thán with this particular revelation, upon which Nathan Drake planned to bring back things from the temple to be tested for irregularities. Each sample returned to Cúrre does not alert her to anything abnormal, comprised of similar compounds—except for the water brought to her from the pool. Acting quickly, she reaches the same conclusion as a few of the other crewmembers do: that the water neutralizes the mysterious intoxication caused by everything on this unknown planet.

FROM UNDER THE VEIL
The combined efforts of the crew and Curre have resulted in an “antidote” being made from the pool water; crew members pass it around to those down on the ship and beach, then utilize caution while administering it to those at the party. The change happens slowly for most. A drink that was perfect only a little while ago is suddenly sickeningly sweet and no longer enjoyable. The food tastes wrong. The music no longer urges you to dance but instead reminds you that your feet are aching. The magic is fading, and as it does, the cracks in the facade begin to reveal themselves. The elegant city built into the rocks is faded and cracking at the edges. Nothing is as it seems, especially the hosts. Their eagerness to please now has an edge to it. They try and ply their guests with new food, drink and distractions, but they know when the game is up. Do you try and slip away when they’re distracted, or do you demand to know why they’ve done this? Do you dare to find out?

AS TIME GOES BY
Crew have begun to filter to the beach, and as the ship reboots, its systems expelling water and allowing it to float on the surface, all Moira-connected technology refreshes. MID devices, to those who check, will show that a year has passed since they crash landed on this strange planet. Those that did not join the party would not have been aware that so much time had passed as the planet seems to be under the influence of a blurring of time, probably due to the fact it is so close to the Luminous Sea. Crew would have gone through the motions and not realized that supplies were dwindling, and anyone who has themselves looked over in the Medbay will discover that they are, in fact, physically one year older. With the Moira finally functioning and with everyone on board, the ship finally begins to ascend and leave the planet behind.

The Captains are all working together to get the crew settled back on board and help those who might need some adjusting to this particular news. Since it has been such a long time, fresh supplies are badly needed, and the ship is directed towards the closest known place: the Mini Colony.

[ Bucky had been seriously considering slipping away -- he remembers what they've done, and most of all he remembers how he enjoyed it, the feeling of having Andyr's lips on his, their bodies under the water. It had been fueled by the need to indulge, the carefree, easy instincts that hauled him along and smudged away the protests he might have, which is terrifying in itself.

But what haunts him most of all is the look in Andyr's eyes when he tells him of his most private fear, a secret spoken in the shadows that must never be brought to light. There is a certain sort of tension that eases when he watches Andyr play with Dog, and when the younger man speaks up and talks to him like nothing's changed between them (and perhaps it hasn't). He pauses only briefly before stepping inside, taking in the furnishings, the items, and more importantly the many, many jars holding fish in them.

Meanwhile, Dog is busy trying to lick Andyr's face, excited to have someone else lavish attention on him. ]

Building a fish tank? [ He asks at length, because this is the only logical conclusion, but he's going over to help him, willing to do as asked. ] What do you need help with?

[ there's building snickers and giggles that can be heard from Andyr's direction the more the puppy licks at him, andyr picking him up and scratching at his ears. There aren't many animals andyr isn't a fan of, given he tends to like them more than he does people, and dogs are high in that list. Particularly puppies, because who doesn't love puppies? ]

Is this your dog? When'd you get a dog? [ Bucky really doesn't seem like the kind who goes out searching for pets - he considers it was dropped on him the same way the tanks were given to andyr and Shepard. Just suddenly there.

He wrestles the puppy around until he can get him cradled in his arms, against his chest, with legs sticking up like a baby, and glances over to the paper packet filled with instructions he'd been following a moment ago. Using a foot, he scoots it over to Bucky, meaning for him to take a look over it. ]

This. It's one of a lot of aquarium tanks, but they sent it in a million pieces. [ something andyr doesn't sound terribly pleased about, but he has a puppy break going on right now. ]

[ Bucky watches them for a few moments, studying how Andyr seems to light up at the puppy's affection; and not for the first time he contemplates how simple Dog is, how uncomplicated and easy. Dog yips when Andyr carries him like a baby, but otherwise tries to lick his chin, obviously delighted to have attention.

And Andyr, too, who looks like a child on Christmas or something, and he can't help but think of what transpired, how different things had been between them that other day. Still, they don't talk about it; and he goes over to the paper packet filled with instructions. Plucking it out, he looks it over, deciding that figuring out how to assemble a tank is a much better deal than brooding over something that's past.

He grunts, after a few moments, before going to pick up the pieces. Andyr can entertain Dog, he's got a plan. ]
Where do you want this aquarium?

[ andyr hasn't forgotten what happened. still feels the phantom touch the back of his neck, against the cold metal of the ports melted into his skin. remembers the rough texture of scar tissue around bucky's shoulder. it hadn't just been physicality - it'd been something personal, and that's not something he can really purge from his mind.

but he's determined not to seem awkward or changed about it. bucky already has that in spades for the both of them, so the least andyr can do is play it off as easy. it helps that there's a puppy to make a good distraction. his head raises up from the dog, looking around at the contemplatively. ]

Over there - against the wall next to the bigger one. [ he lifts an arm to point, and near immediately loses the 'control the puppy' fight, little paws flailing around everywhere and squirming out from the baby cradling hold, Andyr sputtering a laugh. ] What's the dog's name?

Right now? It's just Dog.

[ Bucky's not very good at giving names, especially to something he just had. He makes a note to get ideas for dog names later, and he watches them both briefly, the dog squirming and eager to lick at Andyr's face again, wagging hard. It's actually quite endearing, really, but Bucky's turning back around to focus on the task at hand.

There are a lot of parts, and he flips through the manual, scanning through it before he sets it aside. Right. He can focus on making an aquarium, and getting back to that equilibrium again. He won't forget what happened in a hurry, but if Andyr's fine with it, why not let it be, right?

He gets to work, setting up the pieces. ]

You gonna put all your fish in this one?

Seriously? Like if I just called you 'Human' all the time?

[ or 'Clone', which he actually did call him a few times, oops. look, it doesn't feel great is the point, but he's more giving Bucky shit than actually being disappointed in him. He gets needing to think on it, and Bucky doesn't really seem like the pet naming genius type. ]

Should ask Steve. He's full of dog names. [ Like 'Spot'. Which he tried to name Andyr's fish. And sundry others. eventually, he sets the puppy down, letting him go so he can hop around the room and investigate all the corners. Andyr crawls his way over to Bucky in the mean time. ]

Not all of them. There's way too much for that. [ boxes and boxes of bags of fish came with all these different tanks, in various sizes and shapes. ] Different kinda fish need different environments. This one's gonna be for Microwhale and a few of the bigger guys from that planet, so he's got some room to swim around.
