the lucid disparity revisited
"Never be the first to arrive or the last to go, and never, ever be both."

By now, time has passed, and most of the crew have found some sort of comfortable groove with the natives of the unnamed island they crashed near. Partying, gambling and drinking, and more… Even the mysterious pool has given people who could answer its riddle insight in this confusing time. However, as the nights and days continue to progress and the parties begin to blur together, things are… odd. The hosts are still as kind as ever, offering anything and everything those at the temple-like building could ask for, but every so often, the world around them appears different. Clear, as if a fog had been lifted. Yet, it’s only a blink, and then, it’s gone, returning everyone to their regularly scheduled eternal party.

Down on the beach, the Captains are still as busy as ever working with those capable to restore function to the Moira. On the morning of the 20th, Navigator Manasseh’s vitals begin to slowly return to normal, her status on the Directory reverting to GREEN, and with it, life is brought back to the Moira. This, of course, means everyone is able to board the ship and leave, but most of the crew who traveled through the jungle and stayed at the party aren’t exactly willing to go just yet. Prior to this, a few of the crew who suddenly realized things were strange and that the people around them were acting strange - themselves included - approached Thán with this particular revelation, upon which Nathan Drake planned to bring back things from the temple to be tested for irregularities. Each sample returned to Cúrre does not alert her to anything abnormal, comprised of similar compounds—except for the water brought to her from the pool. Acting quickly, she reaches the same conclusion as a few of the other crewmembers do: that the water neutralizes the mysterious intoxication caused by everything on this unknown planet.

FROM UNDER THE VEIL
The combined efforts of the crew and Curre have resulted in an “antidote” being made from the pool water; crew members pass it around to those down on the ship and beach, then utilize caution while administering it to those at the party. The change happens slowly for most. A drink that was perfect only a little while ago is suddenly sickeningly sweet and no longer enjoyable. The food tastes wrong. The music no longer urges you to dance but instead reminds you that your feet are aching. The magic is fading, and as it does, the cracks in the facade begin to reveal themselves. The elegant city built into the rocks is faded and cracking at the edges. Nothing is as it seems, especially the hosts. Their eagerness to please now has an edge to it. They try and ply their guests with new food, drink and distractions, but they know when the game is up. Do you try and slip away when they’re distracted, or do you demand to know why they’ve done this? Do you dare to find out?

AS TIME GOES BY
Crew have begun to filter to the beach, and as the ship reboots, its systems expelling water and allowing it to float on the surface, all Moira-connected technology refreshes. MID devices, to those who check, will show that a year has passed since they crash landed on this strange planet. Those that did not join the party would not have been aware that so much time had passed as the planet seems to be under the influence of a blurring of time, probably due to the fact it is so close to the Luminous Sea. Crew would have gone through the motions and not realized that supplies were dwindling, and anyone who has themselves looked over in the Medbay will discover that they are, in fact, physically one year older. With the Moira finally functioning and with everyone on board, the ship finally begins to ascend and leave the planet behind.

The Captains are all working together to get the crew settled back on board and help those who might need some adjusting to this particular news. Since it has been such a long time, fresh supplies are badly needed, and the ship is directed towards the closest known place: the Mini Colony.

just Raiden flipping his shit nbd || OTA

[personal profile] cyborged 2016-09-24 05:24 pm (UTC)(link)
[If there's one thing Raiden can't abide being done to him, it's having his perception altered. His whole life, people have been fucking with his mind and now this too. There's a long treatise on why it had to be fake, because he was happy and he can't ever have that for real, but mostly Raiden swallows those feelings and expels them as anger instead.]

[There's a trail of destruction behind him; cups, trays, tables, etc., all laying shattered on the floor, contents strewn across the ground where offerings were thrown aside. He's so incensed and there's nowhere to direct it, no one to get angry at. The bugs, these hosts, either they don't know anything or there's nothing to tell, and there's only so much breaking stuff and carrying a sword is gonna get him answers here.]

[He's incensed, and anyone who finds him will probably come across a cyborg in various states of his rage rampage. Any bug who approaches him has their offering smacked away and tossed aside by Raiden as he makes his way through the city, looking for someone with some kind of authority. Demanding to know who runs things or why.]
knaval: (and there's another crowd)

[personal profile] knaval 2016-09-24 06:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Woah!

[riptide hadn't been following the trail of destruction, he'd just come across the small rampaging man by chance.

he cocks his head and looks down.]

You need a time out, pal?

[Raiden looks up (and up, and up) at the robot, and if anything the expression on his face is annoyed. This guy has to be twice the size of any Cybertronian Raiden's met before, but he recognises one all the same, and he almost scoffs at the irony of one seeming to care about petty destruction considering the shit they cause.]

[He doesn't scoff though. He just frowns.]

I'm fine.

[Read: go away and bug someone else.]
knaval: (looking deep inside)

[personal profile] knaval 2016-09-27 10:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Uh huh. The property damage just screams that.

[he inclines his head vaguely to the path of destruction raiden has left.]

You annoyed about the stupid bug people too?
cyborged: (→Now my feet don't touch the ground)

[personal profile] cyborged 2016-09-27 10:58 pm (UTC)(link)
[Sometimes people just break things ok, don't judge him.]

[Raiden sighs, looking in the direction indicated and then back up at Riptide.]

They can't just get away with this.
knaval: (ticket in my hand)

[personal profile] knaval 2016-09-28 06:32 am (UTC)(link)
[riptide pauses, considering this. he'd not really given it much thought beyond "TIME TO LEAVE" but now raiden mentions it, he is kind of annoyed.

there's a long pause. the fog hangs thick and heavy in the air. riptide watches raiden and finally reaches a hand out and knocks over a nearby table with his finger.]

Yeah! Take that, bug people!
cyborged: (→To a healthy heart beat)

[personal profile] cyborged 2016-09-28 11:31 am (UTC)(link)
[Is he... Is this robot making fun of him. Raiden squints at the robot, and a couple of years ago that would've been so comically ineffectual that he'd have to laugh. Right now though, he just feels like either he's being mocked or this robot is a moron.]

That's not... [sigh.] That's not what I meant.
knaval: (on that long ride)

[personal profile] knaval 2016-09-28 07:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh. Sorry.

[he brings his hand down on the chairs, too. crushing them.

sorry raiden, it's the latter.]

That better?

[jesus christ]

Breaking things isn't the goal. I'm trying to find out if there's anyone in charge here.

[it does feel good to break stuff though]
knaval: (of keeping you clean)

[personal profile] knaval 2016-09-29 09:49 am (UTC)(link)
Oh. OH! Okay, I get it now. Okay.

[riptide grins and winks at raiden like this is some sort of in joke. he then stands up and yells:] Hey! Who's in charge here?! We want a word or more tables are gonna get knocked over!
soldiergenes: (my body)

[ It's not as if Snake likes this any more than Raiden does. Who wouldn't be pissed to learn that they'd lost a whole year of their life in the blink of an eye? He can't even tell if these aliens had actually meant to do this or if they're too ignorant of a life that isn't drinking and partying to care. Snake had made his attempt to wring answers out of them, coming up with nothing no matter what angle he'd taken.

So yeah, the urge to punch a few of the bug people in the face had been pretty damn strong, but Snake can tell when that sort of effort is going to amount to nothing.

Still, he's someone who can control his emotions better than most, and rampages are bound to happen. Snake would normally look the other way, not one to get in the path of someone who's trying to let off some steam, but it's a different story when it's Raiden.

Even though Raiden can clearly take care of himself, even though he's technically not the same person who Snake had assisted back during Big Shell, Snake can't help but feel responsible for him. He heads over as Raiden decimates some furniture with his sword, making sure that he isn't actively swinging the blade before he approaches. ]

That isn't gonna get that year back for us.

[ He shifts into Raiden's feel of vision, stares him down. ]

Breathe.

[ He doesn't know whether or not Raiden really has lungs and he doesn't particularly care. ]

[The urge to tell Snake to get the fuck out of his way rises suddenly and falls away just as quickly, leaving him scowling in a moment's silence. He's angry, and he wants to lash out at someone-- anyone, but he's curbed that urge so far. He can hold it in long enough to try and gently convince Snake to get out of his way.]

[He gestures angrily with a sweep of his sword, glancing toward something off to the side, and then he's back to scowling at Snake.]

Somebody has to answer for this.
soldiergenes: (your arms are folded tight)

[personal profile] soldiergenes 2016-09-30 07:41 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Snake can see how much Raiden is spoiling for a fight, and he's willing to go toe-to-toe with him if that's what it takes for him to work off some of that steam. The fact that Raiden doesn't just barrel through him is a sign that he still holds some sort of respect for him, clouded with anger as it might be right now.

It's not like Snake can blame him for being pissed, either. ]

Someone should, yeah. But have you tried talking to them? It's like they're pre-programmed to always say the same thing.

[ Which had gotten Snake to thinking, maybe there's more to all this.

He sets his jaw and narrows his eyes at Raiden, continuing to keep half his attention on that blade. ]
Think about it.
