(mild spoilers for The Raven Cycle)
On July 9, a demon begins to make its way through the Ingress, summoned through by a shitty teenager.
July 9-12
Harrying
Harrying
It's innocuous in the beginning. A movement in the corner of your eye, a shadow through a curtain-- merely a tree. But then the shadow figures begin to emerge into full being. Black-eyed wraiths that look like enemies, friends with whom you've had past conflict, or even you yourself. At first, it's merely harrying, minor harassment. Threatening gestures, broken gestures, jump scares.
Pursue them, and they disappear-- you might even catch a glimpse of how. They melt down into black slime, racing away across floors, through sewer grates, up walls, impossible to follow. By now, the worst of the climate freeze is over, but residual ice does pose a needles extra obstacle.

July 12-15
The Violence Escalates
The Violence Escalates
In the days that follow, the situation only gets worse.
Sporadic harassment turns into outright attacks. The targeting is unmistakable. The shadow beings who can speak tell cruel tales of animosity, spite, even hatred. They are as deadly with their hands or strange powers as their doppelgangers are, and worse, they're functionally indestructible. Rip off one's head and it merely reforms out of sticky black ink. Limbs regenerate just as easily. The being might dispell for a few hours, but no doubt— it'll be back, if not to hurt you then someone you know.
The Savrii begin to notice. It's hard not to. While there is hardly an epidemic of panic, the disruptions are hard to miss-- broken windows, screams, random violence. Soon, the authorities begin to open safehouse facilities at which characters can seek shelter.

July 15-18
The Golem
The Golem
On July 17, something horrific begins to happen— several shadow beings merge to form a massive golem in Kauto R1. It is a grotesque, horrifying spectacle, of limbs and eyes and pulsating flesh. It reaches almost sixty feet in height. Combined together, this shadow creature is considerably less intelligent than the individual beings were. However, it is also immensely strong and regenerates just like the smaller ones did.
Within the mall, hundreds of daytime shoppers are trapped within. Luckily, they have food and climate control. Perhaps you're one of them-- or perhaps you're trying to get in to provide medical care.
In the meantime, the attacks from the individual shadow beings don't stop. Despite the intelligence exhibited by some, all of them seem mindlessly bent on tormenting their targets until they are killed.

The Sacrifice
The Sacrifice
On the 9th day, a network post goes up (link pending, will be OOCly forward-dated to July 10th latest) revealing how to remove the invincibility of the attackers.
And by the 21st, the remaining beings utterly vanish without explanation— unless you happen to bear witness to the events that take place at St. Monmouth.

[She just stares at it because what do you think she was doing there? Watching your tiny floating back, that's what.]
[But then there's no more time to chat. Time to, instead, move out. Following the map she'd been given.]
It's a nickname.
no subject
[The Ghost seems a little uncertain of what to think about being given a nickname. It's better than 'Little Light,' but not by very much.
Vertices giving something of a shrug, it floats along after, trusting Vetra to lead the way.]
no subject
[It's a term of affection she keeps hearing. So accept it.]
[But, regardless of nicknames or no nicknames, she keeps marching. Pausing occasionally to glance around their position. Just in case something followed them in. Unlikely. But still.]
Okay, we drop the supplies, and get out again. I don't like leaving him out there this long.
no subject
[That's why he thought to shut the door behind them. If anything comes up on his radar, the Ghost will certainly let Vetra know.]
I fully agree. I just hope it doesn't take too long to get to the drop point. -or that they delay us any longer than necessary.
no subject
[If not...]
[If not they might have to do paperwork or some crap. She wouldn't put it past the people here.]
no subject
Considering the circumstances, I should hope so.
[And if they aren't, well, he'll insist that Vetra just shove the package in their faces and they beat a quick exit out.]
no subject
[They're almost there, though. So she picks up the pace a bit. Jogging down a long stretch of darkened mall. But hey -- long turian legs come in handy this way.]
Think I see the doors.
no subject
[The Ghost gives a twitch of a headshake as it hovers after her.]
We can easily remind them by asking if they'd like to go outside and help.
[The soft blue glow from the Ghost's 'eye' provides at least some light, but not nearly far enough. It's only a small comfort that nothing pings its sensors. And that the surroundings are pristine rather than dilapidated.]
I'll get them open.
[The Ghost glides ahead once they're within better visible range, giving the panel on the wall a scan before disappearing into it. Shortly after, the red light shifts to green, and the doors slide open. Hopefully they don't startle anyone inside.]
no subject
[Not really, but still.]
[Once again, she sidles up alongside the spot the Ghost shifted into. Alert, wary. It's only when the door starts to open that she puts her weapon away, and holds her hands up. Clearly visible to anyone inside.]
[On the way up, one talon taps the side of her visor, flicking it off, briefly. The better for the refugees inside to get a good look at her clearly golden eyes.]
I heard you guys needed some bandages.
[Because yeah, there's some armed guards looking very Annoyed at the sudden arrival of an alien and a floating ... Blinky.]
no subject
That would likely be counter-productive, but I'll admit, I'm curious too.
[The Ghost sounds amused, at least. Then again, being with Cayde, it's probably well used to such humor, if it could be called such.
It goes no further than Vetra does, hovering alongside her as he would his own Guardian.]
And not to be pushy, but there are still some things that require dealing with outside, and we really need to get back out there as quickly as possible.
[One of the guards exchanges looks with his fellows before starting towards the Turian and her floaty thing. That Vetra doesn't bear creepy black eyes is a plus, but he's cautious all the same as he holds a hand out for the goods. "Nothing followed you in?" he asks, eyes flicking past the alien.]
no subject
[How much humor does this little thing understand, anyway? SAM was just sort of getting the hang of it, last she'd checked with Ryder.]
[But then it's time for Diplomacy. For networking. This is where she pulls her weight.]
It's all right, they can be nervous. I would be. [She nods to the guard, keeping her movements slow and steady. Reaching with exaggerated care for the fist-aid kit at her hip. It's clearly marked, there shouldn't be any mistaking what she's doing.] Nothing. Did a clean sweep before we got here, and we'll do it again on our way out.
[Handing over the kit, she adds:] It's everything I had on hand. Medi-gel too. Don't know if you guys have it here, but put it on anything and it'll hold until you can get to the medical center.
The big guy's still out there, so we can't stick around and chat.
no subject
Oh yes, I do. ...although I'm sure that Cayde would actually go through with it if he felt it necessary.
[The guard hesitates as he looks back at Vetra, but he shoulders his weapon to take the kit. He nods. "...thank you. It's definitely appreciated. -hope there's an end in sight."
Nodding once again, a silent bid of good luck, he heads back within with the precious pack, the doorway to be covered by the remaining guards as they see Vetra and the Ghost off before locking up again.]
no subject
[Sorry, Ghost, but that commentary probably isn't helping at all. She shoots it a look, before turning back to the guard and nodding.]
Sure thing. We'll see if we can help out with the big ugly one, too.
Stay safe.
[She'll back out, too. Just for an added bit of security for everyone's benefit. They might not see her as threatening now, but if she turns around too suddenly... they're already on edge.]
[And so is Vetra.]
no subject
[The Ghost shuts up, waiting as the exchange is done before floating back along with Vetra, casting a glance between those on the other side of the door and the Turian.
It seems like the door takes forever to finally close completely, the lights on the side panel once again turning red to indicate it being locked. The Ghost immediately starts to drift ahead, pausing at least until Vetra starts to move as well.]
Come on!
[It can't help but be anxious being apart from its Guardian. Bad things have happened to Ghosts and Guardians who have been separated, although Ghosts were the more vulnerable of the two.]
no subject
[Hold your horses, Blinky, she's coming! But hey, being turian means having legs for days. Which means moving at a decent clip when she has to. Like now.]
[Back the way they'd come. Back toward the open shaft.]
no subject
And the first thing they'll see once they get outside is a certain Exo flying past. And by flying, we mean having been flung. Slammed into a few trash receptacles. But at least he hadn't been goofing off the whole time, out here. Parts of the golem's mesh of limbs seem to be on the mend (unfortunately), so it must have taken at least some damage, not that it's lasted.]
