"There will be no prison which can hold our movement down."

The Ingress has pulled you in. Your body experiences several sensations at once: being pushed forward as if a hand is resting on your back, momentary and startling blindness, a gentle ringing in your head. You have difficulty discerning whether it is hot or cold, but where you have been prodded is noticeably warmer than the rest of you. Some may suffer from dizziness while others are perfectly fine. Once equilibrium has been reestablished, you will notice you are standing on a long platform and that the room is filled with a soft cerulean light. It's slightly humid and dark despite the glow around you, and nothing is familiar.

Yet, unlike most new crew arrivals, this one is in the middle of chaos.

Despite more recent events, the planet of Emiri is not as peaceful as it once was. Frederick Link is still missing, and the authorities of Emiri have yet to lift the interplanetary ban they have placed on all space crafts docked at the aerospace. The captains previous held a meeting asking crew for any and all information that might help them locate the Komai, a mysterious group determined to undermine Link'd Inc's work providing flourishing matches across the universe by causing random acts of violence and protest across the three main cities: Harashan, Avelle, and St. Murtel. These things have led to mass arrests as well as an unsettling atmosphere spreading across the planet, and since a previous broadcast, things are beginning to escalate.

A downward spiral of these events begins as soon as new arrivals start to leave the Ingress—an unmarked box arrives in the cargo bay addressed to the inhabitants of the Moira. As per his job, Niko Bellic is the one to discover this box and open it. For some, the contents may be particularly gruesome. Link’s body is inside, clothed in a simple white button-down and pants (no shoes), and it looks as if letters have begun to bleed through the material. Anyone with expert knowledge of torture may note that Link was, in fact, tortured for information, and those letters? The writing itself spells out the name St. Murtel.

The captains, having been alerted of this, make an attempt to contact those at Link’d Inc. Unfortunately, the damage has already been done.

☄ First: MISCOMMUNICATION
Somehow, whether intentional or not, the Komai have once again hacked public systems and networks to brand those of the Moira as the ones behind these terroristic acts. They still use their own name, but the images are different, focusing on familiar faces wearing the ship’s uniforms and traveling to the Aerospace to return to the Moira. Not only that, there are short recordings of Link’s final words that mention a very recognizable name: Captain Thán. The Komai have redirected the blame to the Moira and its crew for their own means, and in response, any and all crew who are captured by authorities will immediately be detained and shipped out to unknown locations. The Captains send a message via MID and request everyone return to the ship to prevent this from happening. Yet, not all messages will be delivered depending on how far away they are.

With everyone’s safety hanging in the balance, the Captains have decided to take things into their own hands and find a way to lift the block on the Moira so they can leave Emiri’s orbit and avoid further repercussions regardless of whether or not any one of the crew wants to stay.

☄ Second: DECOY & DISTRACT
After learning that Benjamin Link, son of recently deceased Frederick Link, knows how to unlock the ship so they can leave, the captains ask for volunteers to act as decoys on a mission to the Aerospace in Harashan. Their job is to distract guards and Emiri citizens, leaving the path clear for Benjamin to get to the computers. The captains reiterate that they are to use nonfatal methods as they don’t want a repeat of the events on Caducus Primary. Without his help, the ship won’t be able to leave, making this mission critical and extremely time sensitive.

☄ Third: RESCUE
During the mission, Benjamin informs the crew that the Komai aren’t incorrect in their claims that Link’d Inc uses unforgivable means to obtain information in order to make their matches perfect. The children the crew dreamed about are just two of many—the offspring of Emirian citizens who had gone missing. It has long been suspected that Link’d Inc was involved in their disappearances, but only recently has the Komai done anything to shed light on these gruesome rumors. Benjamin, after successfully unlocking the ship, disables the security systems in St. Murtel, which will allow the children a chance to escape. They’ll need assistance in getting out of St. Murtel and to a pre-designated area in Avelle where a group of Komai and Emirians will be waiting for them.

But be careful. If anyone is recognized as part of the crew, they will be placed under arrest for treason and possibly never heard from again.

☄ Fourth: BREAKING OUT
Now that the computer systems in Harashan’s Aerospace have been used to release the Moira, the entire crew are being called back via MID for an expedient exit from Emiri. Crew will be asked to assist other Moirans in getting back to the ship as quickly as possible via transporters or other small crafts as leaving is their only option at this point. In the escape, Emiri launches an attack on the Moira in an attempt to stop them. The ship’s previously unused defense systems activate, and those assigned to those positions are required to man their posts. Perhaps even those who don’t have the clearance are needed. Either way, it’s time to leave.

☄ Fifth: REFUGEES
Now that the ship has finally escaped Emiri’s orbit, the crew will notice a group of stragglers in the main hall. During the crew’s quick exit, about fifty Emirians have taken refuge aboard the Moira, and the captains have agreed to take them to the closest planet so they may start again or live a life free of Link’d Inc “rule”. The captains ask the crew to help get them clothes and food for their short stay, no longer than a day at most, and to occupy them as best they can. Tell jokes, sing songs, bring up the kittens so that everyone can attempt to wind down after this series of unfortunate events. Light entertainment won’t be provided, but on request, some crew members may do just that.

Didn't you ever watch those duck and cover movies in class? Explosions are cool. Warheads will defeat communism or something like that.[He puts on a toothy grin and stares right back.]

Well, I do have an invested interest in acceleration. [A little chuckle. Yes, he is delusional enough to think he's actually funny.] And hey, no worries. I won't get you into any trouble. I'm not that much of an ass. If I skip out on work, I'll be the only name that comes up.
hyperkinesia: (Why don't we do this the easy way?)

[personal profile] hyperkinesia 2016-02-16 08:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Right. Something like that. [ Bruce sounds about as unconvinced as if Peter had just told him that fish can walk. ]

I can tell you do. [ For what it's worth, he does look mildly amused at the remark. ] That is appreciated. I'm not covering for you and your hookie-playing tendencies.

[Peter just laughs. Oh, Bruce. He can tell you're going to be a lot of fun.]

Nope. I can cover for myself. Besides, who's going to miss a glorified janitor? [He's not going to skip out on bodyguard duties yet. He's not that interested in pissing off the captains.] I haven't really been doing that much anyway.

So they stuck you in teaching then?
hyperkinesia: (What does he want me to do?)

[personal profile] hyperkinesia 2016-02-16 08:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Really, that's the job you got? I'm sorry to hear. [ He really is, and he even offers him a sympathetic smile. But also, you know... somebody has to do it. ]

No. Actually I'm the Chief Science Officer. I signed up as an instructor because I wanted to, that's all.

[personal profile] takeitslow 2016-02-17 12:20 am (UTC)(link)
One of the jobs. But, yeah dude, it sucks. I think it's just cause I'm younger. [He grimaces cause, yeah. There's nothing good about it.]

Dude, so like you're the Bones around here. Nice. He was the science guy, right? [They may have only gotten a few channels but that didn't mean he paid much attention to Star Trek.] What kind of science do they got you doing in space?
hyperkinesia: (Your work is unparalleled.)

[personal profile] hyperkinesia 2016-02-17 10:54 am (UTC)(link)
Well, you do seem to have a lot of... energy. [ It probably wouldn't take Peter that long to clean up - not from everyone else's perspective, anyway. ]

What-- oh, Star Trek. [ He smiles a little. Points for that reference. ] Actually Bones was the Chief Medical Officer, but he was a Science Officer too, yes. [ He purses his lips and shrugs, shaking his head dismissively. ] But it's close enough. Here, I mostly monitor energy and radiation readings and fluctuations, keep a look out for anything out of the ordinary. If anything pops up, we think of possible explanations, run a few tests and simulations as needed, and try to come up with solutions for any issues. It's pretty recent, though. Things should pick up once there are a few more people working there with me.

I think my school file calls it hyperactive. [It would be a long two minutes in his eyes though.]

Yup. [He doesn't deserve the points. They only get so many shows back home.] So, like, you're looking for stuff out there? Trying to keep us from running into some radiation cloud and poisoning everyone. Or just inventing stuff. I'm not much of a science guy, I don't really get this stuff. Sounds real smart though.
hyperkinesia: (This is exactly where it all went wrong.)

[personal profile] hyperkinesia 2016-02-17 10:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Fitting, all things considered. [ Or maybe it's his power that's fitting to his personality, not the other way around. Maybe it's just coincidence. ]

More the former, yes. Basically just keeping an eye out and making sure we don't all accidentally die from radiation poisoning or get stuck in some time dilation field. Just examples, by the way. None of that has actually happened before. [ Not that he knows of, anyway. ]
takeitslow: ([Speak])

[personal profile] takeitslow 2016-02-18 01:53 am (UTC)(link)
Aww, how nice of you to notice. [It's the first, probably.]

Good to know. I'd be a little wary of hanging out on a ship with a history of mass crew death like that. Though it's not like we'd know, right? Maybe hat's why we're here in the first place. But, hey. Guess that's what we got you for. Please don't let us all die, big guy.
hyperkinesia: (You want me to help you.)

[personal profile] hyperkinesia 2016-02-18 10:31 am (UTC)(link)
I wouldn't discard the possibility entirely. [ Or that the current captains found it empty and adrift in the middle of nowhere, the whole crew gone, and just took the ship for themselves. Just one of a number of theories. ]

I'll give it my best. If something does pop up you'll know. [ He doesn't plan on keeping things secret, not if there are measures that might improve people's safety during a crisis. ]
takeitslow: ([Chatter])

[personal profile] takeitslow 2016-02-18 06:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh. Shit man. [Because he'd been mostly joking, talking to be talking. He didn't mean for Bruce to legitimize his off wall theories. Peter didn't want to think about things like that seriously.]

Early warning. Cool. Not sure if it will do us much good unless this thing has the space version of life boats. But, we'll leave it in your, I'm assuming, capable hands.

hyperkinesia: (Thanks for asking nicely.)

[personal profile] hyperkinesia 2016-02-18 11:43 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Bruce really doesn't mean to spread panic here. But after seeing the things he's seen here, he really is ready to believe just about anything, and at this point he's already run hundreds of different scenarios and hypotheses through his head as to why or how they're here, and how the captains even got this ship to begin with. ]

A heavy burden, but I'll do my best. [ He knows he's good at what he does, though, so he'll do anything within his power to make sure the ship's safe. ] And if things ever get really bad, we always have the cryostasis units. [ Granted, not of much comfort, but it's better than dying, he thinks. ]
takeitslow: ([Side])

[personal profile] takeitslow 2016-02-19 09:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, dude. No. The idea of getting frozen is freaky. Don't care if Disney did it, still sounds like something out of a bad Saturday night science fiction flick. [He gives an exaggerated shudder, frowning deeply. The idea of being frozen, in place and in time is legitimately terrifying to Peter.] Think I'd rather take my chances out here.
hyperkinesia: (You want me to help you.)

[personal profile] hyperkinesia 2016-02-19 10:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, it's a very safe process, with the cryo units we have here. [ Cryostasis always makes him think of Steve too, though that of course was a very particular situation. The pods work in an entirely different way. ] But fair enough. That's your choice, after all. Hopefully it'll never come to that.
takeitslow: ([Time])

[personal profile] takeitslow 2016-02-19 11:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Sorry, dude, but we just don't have that kind of thing back home. It's a little hard to trust it. [He doesn't understand it and that makes it scary. It's stuff like this that almost makes him want to take the class opportunities here seriously.] But whatever. No point in worrying about the future like that. Things look peachy right now. Well, besides all the stowaways and the screwed up stuff we just saw planet side.
hyperkinesia: (Is that the only word on me?)

[personal profile] hyperkinesia 2016-02-19 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Bruce can't really argue with that way of dealing things. There really is no reason for Peter to be worrying about things that might not even happen to begin with, and besides that's why there are people like Bruce on board. So that they're the ones keeping an eye on those things instead. ]

Well, at least this planet we left in one piece, so that's one silver lining. [ And they can't know how things will work out for Emiri from this point onwards, but they can hope it'll be better than it was before, at least. ]
takeitslow: ([Unsure])

[personal profile] takeitslow 2016-02-20 03:25 am (UTC)(link)
Oh yeah, right. I heard we hadn't quite managed that with the last one. [He'd seen enough talk of it on the MID, had enough said in his own conversations to figure out the last planet hadn't been left they was it was found.] Heard something about some angry guy and leaving a planet as dust.
hyperkinesia: (Makes play he's still a man.)

[personal profile] hyperkinesia 2016-02-20 10:45 am (UTC)(link)
Right. Something like that. [ Bruce smiles tensely, crossing his arms on the table. Most people on the ship already know about the other guy, that it was he who destroyed that planet, and Bruce doesn't bother keeping it a secret anymore. There's not much of a point, now. But Peter clearly hasn't been told the whole story, and while Bruce doesn't want to make it seem like he's hiding something, he's also tired of talking about the whole thing, and consequently having to explain how the Hulk works, and why he doesn't need to be afraid. (Even though he kind of should be, all things considered.)

So for now, he leaves it at that. Maybe some other day he'll tell Peter the whole thing, or he'll run into the information himself somehow. It's not that difficult to figure out, at this point. ]

Anyway, I'm... taking these back to the library. [ He reaches for the books on the table. ] You're sticking around here, I take it? I don't mind if you want to come along.
takeitslow: ([Game])

[personal profile] takeitslow 2016-02-20 06:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I'm more of a fan of other people reading books than the books themselves. [Peter shrugs a shoulder, chuckles a little.] I mean, unless you're desperate for company, I'm probably never going to step foot in the library. 'Sides. [He gestures back towards the gathering of refugees, a few young people still milling about instead of sleeping.] Might try to entertain, you know what I mean?
hyperkinesia: (How's he doing?)

[personal profile] hyperkinesia 2016-02-20 07:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll be fine on my own, don't worry. [ He really isn't surprised to hear Peter has no interest in the library. And he'll probably have more to entertain him here, anyway. ] You have fun. I'll see you around soon.
takeitslow: ([Joy])

[personal profile] takeitslow 2016-02-21 02:32 am (UTC)(link)
[He lifts two fingers in a lazy salute, eyes darting back to the other teenagers milling about.] Yeah, I'll catch you next story-time.
