"There will be no prison which can hold our movement down."

The Ingress has pulled you in. Your body experiences several sensations at once: being pushed forward as if a hand is resting on your back, momentary and startling blindness, a gentle ringing in your head. You have difficulty discerning whether it is hot or cold, but where you have been prodded is noticeably warmer than the rest of you. Some may suffer from dizziness while others are perfectly fine. Once equilibrium has been reestablished, you will notice you are standing on a long platform and that the room is filled with a soft cerulean light. It's slightly humid and dark despite the glow around you, and nothing is familiar.

Yet, unlike most new crew arrivals, this one is in the middle of chaos.

Despite more recent events, the planet of Emiri is not as peaceful as it once was. Frederick Link is still missing, and the authorities of Emiri have yet to lift the interplanetary ban they have placed on all space crafts docked at the aerospace. The captains previous held a meeting asking crew for any and all information that might help them locate the Komai, a mysterious group determined to undermine Link'd Inc's work providing flourishing matches across the universe by causing random acts of violence and protest across the three main cities: Harashan, Avelle, and St. Murtel. These things have led to mass arrests as well as an unsettling atmosphere spreading across the planet, and since a previous broadcast, things are beginning to escalate.

A downward spiral of these events begins as soon as new arrivals start to leave the Ingress—an unmarked box arrives in the cargo bay addressed to the inhabitants of the Moira. As per his job, Niko Bellic is the one to discover this box and open it. For some, the contents may be particularly gruesome. Link’s body is inside, clothed in a simple white button-down and pants (no shoes), and it looks as if letters have begun to bleed through the material. Anyone with expert knowledge of torture may note that Link was, in fact, tortured for information, and those letters? The writing itself spells out the name St. Murtel.

The captains, having been alerted of this, make an attempt to contact those at Link’d Inc. Unfortunately, the damage has already been done.

☄ First: MISCOMMUNICATION
Somehow, whether intentional or not, the Komai have once again hacked public systems and networks to brand those of the Moira as the ones behind these terroristic acts. They still use their own name, but the images are different, focusing on familiar faces wearing the ship’s uniforms and traveling to the Aerospace to return to the Moira. Not only that, there are short recordings of Link’s final words that mention a very recognizable name: Captain Thán. The Komai have redirected the blame to the Moira and its crew for their own means, and in response, any and all crew who are captured by authorities will immediately be detained and shipped out to unknown locations. The Captains send a message via MID and request everyone return to the ship to prevent this from happening. Yet, not all messages will be delivered depending on how far away they are.

With everyone’s safety hanging in the balance, the Captains have decided to take things into their own hands and find a way to lift the block on the Moira so they can leave Emiri’s orbit and avoid further repercussions regardless of whether or not any one of the crew wants to stay.

☄ Second: DECOY & DISTRACT
After learning that Benjamin Link, son of recently deceased Frederick Link, knows how to unlock the ship so they can leave, the captains ask for volunteers to act as decoys on a mission to the Aerospace in Harashan. Their job is to distract guards and Emiri citizens, leaving the path clear for Benjamin to get to the computers. The captains reiterate that they are to use nonfatal methods as they don’t want a repeat of the events on Caducus Primary. Without his help, the ship won’t be able to leave, making this mission critical and extremely time sensitive.

☄ Third: RESCUE
During the mission, Benjamin informs the crew that the Komai aren’t incorrect in their claims that Link’d Inc uses unforgivable means to obtain information in order to make their matches perfect. The children the crew dreamed about are just two of many—the offspring of Emirian citizens who had gone missing. It has long been suspected that Link’d Inc was involved in their disappearances, but only recently has the Komai done anything to shed light on these gruesome rumors. Benjamin, after successfully unlocking the ship, disables the security systems in St. Murtel, which will allow the children a chance to escape. They’ll need assistance in getting out of St. Murtel and to a pre-designated area in Avelle where a group of Komai and Emirians will be waiting for them.

But be careful. If anyone is recognized as part of the crew, they will be placed under arrest for treason and possibly never heard from again.

☄ Fourth: BREAKING OUT
Now that the computer systems in Harashan’s Aerospace have been used to release the Moira, the entire crew are being called back via MID for an expedient exit from Emiri. Crew will be asked to assist other Moirans in getting back to the ship as quickly as possible via transporters or other small crafts as leaving is their only option at this point. In the escape, Emiri launches an attack on the Moira in an attempt to stop them. The ship’s previously unused defense systems activate, and those assigned to those positions are required to man their posts. Perhaps even those who don’t have the clearance are needed. Either way, it’s time to leave.

☄ Fifth: REFUGEES
Now that the ship has finally escaped Emiri’s orbit, the crew will notice a group of stragglers in the main hall. During the crew’s quick exit, about fifty Emirians have taken refuge aboard the Moira, and the captains have agreed to take them to the closest planet so they may start again or live a life free of Link’d Inc “rule”. The captains ask the crew to help get them clothes and food for their short stay, no longer than a day at most, and to occupy them as best they can. Tell jokes, sing songs, bring up the kittens so that everyone can attempt to wind down after this series of unfortunate events. Light entertainment won’t be provided, but on request, some crew members may do just that.

[ Bruce looks up at the whistle, glancing around to realize it's aimed at him. Well-- alright then. He's not used to being called over like that, but that works too. Far from him to mind, honestly.

Shoulders drawn together in his usual slight hunch, he makes his way over to her. ]

What is it?

[personal profile] imaginary_wife 2016-02-04 01:59 pm (UTC)(link)
[She waits for him to come over, before tipping her head towards a counter.]

Commander Shepard brought in something called "medi-gel". I replicated it for minor injuries.

If you guys can get them in the clear we can focus on the serious injuries. [She offers him a jar with some sort of clear, jelly-like salve in it.]
hyperkinesia: (You want me to help you.)

[personal profile] hyperkinesia 2016-02-04 10:52 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Bruce looks to the jar in her hands, taking it and looking it over with interest. ]

Handy. [ The name's pretty self-explanatory, though Bruce is very curious about how effective it is, and how it works exactly. He'll have plenty of opportunities to see for himself, most likely. ] I take it we just apply it to the injuries, and that's it? Should I do any kind of wound dressing afterwards?
imaginary_wife: (07 - r3QQ8Nk)

[personal profile] imaginary_wife 2016-02-05 03:59 pm (UTC)(link)
With this, at least with minor injuries it should take just seconds to heal. It accelerates it that much.

How many have you seen so far? [She's genuinely worried about how much damage those pricks caused.]
hyperkinesia: (Your work is unparalleled.)

[personal profile] hyperkinesia 2016-02-06 02:00 am (UTC)(link)
That's... amazing.

[ Extremely practical too, in this situation. He looks around to find someone with minor injuries waiting to be seen, and he motions for them to come over and take a seat on an examination table. ]

Some. I'm-- actually not counting at this point. Between newcomers and people coming and going from the planet, there's been a lot of people. A few of the injuries are a little more serious, cuts that need stitches, dislocated shoulders, fractured ribs and the like, but mostly it's just this. [ He nods to the small scrapes on the person's arm, opening the jar and starting to dab a little of it onto the wound. ] Small things. This gel should help speed things up.
imaginary_wife: (139)

[personal profile] imaginary_wife 2016-02-08 12:40 am (UTC)(link)
Well, at least we should get through those pretty quick.

Alright, tiger. When you get done helping out around the house I got a question for you. Come back and see me.

[She crosses her arms and strides off in her over-confident way, ready to attack those more serious injuries like a woman going to war. But then again, she is a most unfortunate sort of war veteran.]
hyperkinesia: (And you do?)

[personal profile] hyperkinesia 2016-02-08 10:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Alright. [ And with a nod, he starts taking care of the simpler injuries with the medi-gel, doing quick work of a good number of them. The gel has amazing properties, and he can't help but marvel at how quickly it closes up the wounds, though he also doesn't spend too long inspecting its effects, not right now when they're so busy.

Once he's taken care of a good chunk of the people waiting, he makes his way over to Meh again, making sure she's not too busy herself either. ]

So, what did you want to ask?
imaginary_wife: (07 - r3QQ8Nk)

[personal profile] imaginary_wife 2016-02-10 04:26 pm (UTC)(link)
[When he gets back, she's gotten more medigel ready just in case.]

I'm working on a prosthetics project. I don't know that it would normally be up your alley, but I think some aspects of this might be of interest to you.
hyperkinesia: (This is exactly where it all went wrong.)

[personal profile] hyperkinesia 2016-02-10 08:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Really? [ He perks up visibly, not only at the mention of prosthetics, but also that she even thought of him. ]

It's definitely up my alley, yes. Although I know of someone else who might be interested too. [ He's pretty sure Tony would be very upset if he didn't even mention something like this to him. ] What kind of prosthetic? For someone on the ship, I take it?
imaginary_wife: (42 - Iqc0C1s)

[personal profile] imaginary_wife 2016-02-12 09:30 pm (UTC)(link)
For a shape-changer. And hopefully in the future, something multifunctional we can adapt to other people. Even other causes besides health specifically. Imagine if we'd been able to quickly disguise Ben to run this mission, or some of these people to get back to the ship?

I've been talking to Peridot about it. Do you know her?
hyperkinesia: (Makes play he's still a man.)

[personal profile] hyperkinesia 2016-02-12 10:38 pm (UTC)(link)
You're right. Developing something like that could come in handy in our future-- no pun intended. [ Smiling a little at that. ]

Peridot? Yes, I know her. [ He nods. ] We're roommates, and we've worked together for a good while. I'd have suggested her for a project like this, too.
imaginary_wife: (133)

[personal profile] imaginary_wife 2016-02-13 12:07 am (UTC)(link)
Don't worry, if I say it the pun is very much intended. As for Peridot, I've been impressed. [High words from an Indogene. They pride themselves on their genius.]

I recently did some work on Tron, had to use code to rebuild his body. Between that and how gems project themselves, I've got some good ideas on how to project physical forms that also can transmit realistic sensation.

Meaning we could also give them back their feeling completely.

[She'll definitely be glad for the extra hands on board.]
hyperkinesia: (You want me to help you.)

[personal profile] hyperkinesia 2016-02-13 01:42 am (UTC)(link)
She is pretty impressive. Even if a little... quirky. [ But then Bruce isn't exactly used to Gems, so he's trying to be a little more adaptable. With Peridot, at least, it's paid off so far. ]

Tron? Haven't met them. I'm... assuming they're some kind of program? An artificial intelligence? [ Either, both, or something else altogether, building a body from coding alone sounds amazing. Another thing that would definitely fascinate Bruce. ] Sounds great. I'd love to join in on that.

[ Extra hands. Heh. ]
imaginary_wife: (127)

[personal profile] imaginary_wife 2016-02-13 03:23 am (UTC)(link)
Artificial Intelligence, yes. He identifies as a program, but his code gives him physical form here. Same with Rinzler, and I got a really good look at what puts them together.

[It's pretty great having an organic and computing mind when it comes to that.]
hyperkinesia: (To build weapons of mass destruction.)

[personal profile] hyperkinesia 2016-02-13 07:29 pm (UTC)(link)
That's... amazing. I'll have to meet them, sometime. I mean-- assuming they're friendly. [ Kind of an open remark, almost as if he's asking her. ] I'm no stranger to the concept of artificial intelligence, or even that it could be put into an artificial body, but that the AI's own code creates its own physical manifestation is something else entirely.

[ In a way, like the Gems and their hard light projections, but even then that's different. They're not organic but they're still life forms. ]
imaginary_wife: (39)

[personal profile] imaginary_wife 2016-02-15 03:06 am (UTC)(link)
The one in the helmet isn't, the one without the helmet is. They're pretty identifiable.

You hear one start making strange mechanical sounds. Give him a wide berth. A little on the aggressive side. [And she knows that's not a great combination when it comes to Bruce. Not worth the risk.] Tron is fine, though.
hyperkinesia: (Is that the only word on me?)

[personal profile] hyperkinesia 2016-02-15 09:39 am (UTC)(link)
Duly noted. Thanks.

[ And yes, he does appreciate that note. As interested as he might be in learning about them, he's not going to risk the safety of the ship by getting too close to someone he knows could be unstable or dangerous. ]

How far along are you with the project?
imaginary_wife: (133)

[personal profile] imaginary_wife 2016-02-15 04:30 pm (UTC)(link)
[She would rather not that, either. She's seen one too many destroyed arks.]

Indogene technology also lets me create artificial limbs. We're an artificial race who sometimes has to, for whatever reason, graft or replace parts of ourselves. But we usually create them out of protoform. So it's pretty far along. I just need to make sure that the illusion of flesh is hyper realistic and matches that of the host. Second of all I want to make an efficient way for contact with that "flesh" to create realistic stimulus to nerve endings in the arm.
hyperkinesia: (Your work is unparalleled.)

[personal profile] hyperkinesia 2016-02-15 06:10 pm (UTC)(link)
[ And Bruce has handed out more than enough death and destruction to last him several lifetimes over, he will go to lengths to stop it from happening again. ]

I've never heard of it - protoform, that is. [ Excuse Bruce for now staring a little at her, visibly marvelled at what she's just told him. Of course he figured she wasn't human, but from there to being an entirely artificial race goes a long way. ] And you have that too? I mean, nerve endings. And if so, a brain to which it all connects? Do you have other artificial organs too, or-- [ He stops, wincing slightly. ] Sorry. I didn't mean to intrude, I just... got very curious. I'm sorry.
imaginary_wife: (142)

[personal profile] imaginary_wife 2016-02-15 06:19 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm organic. Artificial. But organic.

I'm about as close to a computer as an organic being can be. I can interface with most computers. Protoform is the material I'm made of, and like I can adapt to most systems protoform can match and adapt to most species. Brain. Nerve endings. Even the parts for a fun time. I got all the goods, baby. The Omec didn't skimp on making their slave-races. They wanted some real go-getters.

[She can't help the bitterness in her tone there. The Omec... Defiance was making a stupid decision in negotiating with them.] But I'm luckily blessed because of it. That's why I was able to help design the containment unit that held your big green self.
hyperkinesia: (How's he doing?)

[personal profile] hyperkinesia 2016-02-15 07:58 pm (UTC)(link)
[ 'Slave-races'. Bruce doesn't need to ask her to know what that means, and if her tone's anything to go by, it's not a topic she likes much, understandably so. He nods instead, listening attentively to everything she shares with a scientific kind of curiosity, as well as a personal interest in simply knowing more about her. ]

Right. I should've thanked you for that before. [ His words are very much genuine. ] Thank you. It's an impressive creation. I hope I won't need it again, but I'm honestly relieved to know it's there, should I ever need it.
imaginary_wife: (136)

[personal profile] imaginary_wife 2016-02-15 08:05 pm (UTC)(link)
No problem, toots. I'd go out of my gourd if I couldn't whip out something good in an emergency situation.

By the way.

I know you probably had a hard time with that. I'm from a destroyed planet. As long as there were Arks, as long as the people made it away, they'll be fine. Any chance to start over. And, by the way- [She goes over to her work station where she picks up a flower, a seedling in a small pot. It's already budding, glass-like leaves peaking through the tight green protecting it.] I have someone helping me with my medicinal plants, so this is a new one. Native species to Cadacus Primary. This one, born here. Take it. Take care of it. I'll send you care instructions.
hyperkinesia: (Thanks for asking nicely.)

[personal profile] hyperkinesia 2016-02-15 10:02 pm (UTC)(link)
[ He appreciates her words, though he's heard them before, coming from a number of other people, and it's only helped so much. It does surprise him when she says to come from a destroyed planet, yet another person that has some kind of personal experience with that, one way or the other. He can't help finding it both interesting and bizarre, how many like that he's met so far, here on the ship.

And he's never really believed in coincidences, either.

He looks down at the small budding flower in the pot she hands him, taking it gingerly from her. His mouth parts a little, an expression of clear surprise as his eyes stay on the small petals poking out, unable to completely hide the mix of feelings that have his chest clutching, mingled with what memories he has of what happened in Caducus Primary.

He looks back up to Meh, pressing his lips tight and swallowing dryly. The question 'why' is right at the tip of his tongue, but he doesn't ask it, instead nodding and quietly accepting the flower. ]
Thank you.
imaginary_wife: (41)

[personal profile] imaginary_wife 2016-02-16 06:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Alright, tough guy. I'll be around. [She nods towards the remaining people, even the ones that need a little tending to after the mess. Though, thankfully, it's clearing up.]

Give me a shout if you need me.
hyperkinesia: (He's going to evolve.)

[personal profile] hyperkinesia 2016-02-16 07:40 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll do that. [ He nods, offering a parting greeting before he goes back to the people still waiting to be seen, plant carried carefully in his hands. It even feels fragile, so he'll put it away safely in a corner somewhere, until he can find the best place to keep it.

He's definitely not letting the plant die. ]
