"There will be no prison which can hold our movement down."

The Ingress has pulled you in. Your body experiences several sensations at once: being pushed forward as if a hand is resting on your back, momentary and startling blindness, a gentle ringing in your head. You have difficulty discerning whether it is hot or cold, but where you have been prodded is noticeably warmer than the rest of you. Some may suffer from dizziness while others are perfectly fine. Once equilibrium has been reestablished, you will notice you are standing on a long platform and that the room is filled with a soft cerulean light. It's slightly humid and dark despite the glow around you, and nothing is familiar.

Yet, unlike most new crew arrivals, this one is in the middle of chaos.

Despite more recent events, the planet of Emiri is not as peaceful as it once was. Frederick Link is still missing, and the authorities of Emiri have yet to lift the interplanetary ban they have placed on all space crafts docked at the aerospace. The captains previous held a meeting asking crew for any and all information that might help them locate the Komai, a mysterious group determined to undermine Link'd Inc's work providing flourishing matches across the universe by causing random acts of violence and protest across the three main cities: Harashan, Avelle, and St. Murtel. These things have led to mass arrests as well as an unsettling atmosphere spreading across the planet, and since a previous broadcast, things are beginning to escalate.

A downward spiral of these events begins as soon as new arrivals start to leave the Ingress—an unmarked box arrives in the cargo bay addressed to the inhabitants of the Moira. As per his job, Niko Bellic is the one to discover this box and open it. For some, the contents may be particularly gruesome. Link’s body is inside, clothed in a simple white button-down and pants (no shoes), and it looks as if letters have begun to bleed through the material. Anyone with expert knowledge of torture may note that Link was, in fact, tortured for information, and those letters? The writing itself spells out the name St. Murtel.

The captains, having been alerted of this, make an attempt to contact those at Link’d Inc. Unfortunately, the damage has already been done.

☄ First: MISCOMMUNICATION
Somehow, whether intentional or not, the Komai have once again hacked public systems and networks to brand those of the Moira as the ones behind these terroristic acts. They still use their own name, but the images are different, focusing on familiar faces wearing the ship’s uniforms and traveling to the Aerospace to return to the Moira. Not only that, there are short recordings of Link’s final words that mention a very recognizable name: Captain Thán. The Komai have redirected the blame to the Moira and its crew for their own means, and in response, any and all crew who are captured by authorities will immediately be detained and shipped out to unknown locations. The Captains send a message via MID and request everyone return to the ship to prevent this from happening. Yet, not all messages will be delivered depending on how far away they are.

With everyone’s safety hanging in the balance, the Captains have decided to take things into their own hands and find a way to lift the block on the Moira so they can leave Emiri’s orbit and avoid further repercussions regardless of whether or not any one of the crew wants to stay.

☄ Second: DECOY & DISTRACT
After learning that Benjamin Link, son of recently deceased Frederick Link, knows how to unlock the ship so they can leave, the captains ask for volunteers to act as decoys on a mission to the Aerospace in Harashan. Their job is to distract guards and Emiri citizens, leaving the path clear for Benjamin to get to the computers. The captains reiterate that they are to use nonfatal methods as they don’t want a repeat of the events on Caducus Primary. Without his help, the ship won’t be able to leave, making this mission critical and extremely time sensitive.

☄ Third: RESCUE
During the mission, Benjamin informs the crew that the Komai aren’t incorrect in their claims that Link’d Inc uses unforgivable means to obtain information in order to make their matches perfect. The children the crew dreamed about are just two of many—the offspring of Emirian citizens who had gone missing. It has long been suspected that Link’d Inc was involved in their disappearances, but only recently has the Komai done anything to shed light on these gruesome rumors. Benjamin, after successfully unlocking the ship, disables the security systems in St. Murtel, which will allow the children a chance to escape. They’ll need assistance in getting out of St. Murtel and to a pre-designated area in Avelle where a group of Komai and Emirians will be waiting for them.

But be careful. If anyone is recognized as part of the crew, they will be placed under arrest for treason and possibly never heard from again.

☄ Fourth: BREAKING OUT
Now that the computer systems in Harashan’s Aerospace have been used to release the Moira, the entire crew are being called back via MID for an expedient exit from Emiri. Crew will be asked to assist other Moirans in getting back to the ship as quickly as possible via transporters or other small crafts as leaving is their only option at this point. In the escape, Emiri launches an attack on the Moira in an attempt to stop them. The ship’s previously unused defense systems activate, and those assigned to those positions are required to man their posts. Perhaps even those who don’t have the clearance are needed. Either way, it’s time to leave.

☄ Fifth: REFUGEES
Now that the ship has finally escaped Emiri’s orbit, the crew will notice a group of stragglers in the main hall. During the crew’s quick exit, about fifty Emirians have taken refuge aboard the Moira, and the captains have agreed to take them to the closest planet so they may start again or live a life free of Link’d Inc “rule”. The captains ask the crew to help get them clothes and food for their short stay, no longer than a day at most, and to occupy them as best they can. Tell jokes, sing songs, bring up the kittens so that everyone can attempt to wind down after this series of unfortunate events. Light entertainment won’t be provided, but on request, some crew members may do just that.

Yeah. I guess you're right.

[He hoped so anyway. It didn't make up for what had happened in the past, or the damage they'd caused, but maybe it was worth it if something good came of it.]

I hope the refugees who came with us find some place better, at least.

The reaction isn't immediate, but it is thorough. Chara's cheeks stain red. They turn towards Frisk with their lips peeling back, and their eyes are burning with outrage and offense.

"You don't know me," they snarl. "You don't--know anything, where do you--get off saying--"

Words are failing them. They're struggling, and they want to punch Frisk right in the teeth. The other fist could reach their hair and yank like they're starting an outboard motor and bring Frisk's face right into the bars and then they'd be in reach and it'd be over and Chara stumbles to their feet, world turning around them like they're drunk.

They stagger back to the bunk and curl up in a ball that's nothing so much as it is coiled rage and gnashing teeth, and they hate Frisk, they hate them, they hate them they hate them--

They muffle their face against their arms and knees, and heave a breath into their lungs, and it feels like the resulting shriek is a wedge being driven into their own ears. They can't stop shaking, and they're not really aware of the way their hands are digging vicious claws against the thick cloth of their uniform pants.

Good thing he's a little busy getting her up to her room, and besides it doesn't look like she has the focus or energy for long conversations, so he doesn't ask about it. He gets the lift to take them to the right deck, holding her closely against him, then slowly he walks her out and down the hallway, looking for her room number.
foggybear: (pic#9972520)

[personal profile] foggybear 2016-02-11 10:15 am (UTC)(link)
No! [ He's quick to say it, mostly because he finds it weird to even entertain the idea. Foggy is meant for law, not science, and even then Bruce is heavily lauded, he's sure, and Foggy is just starting up a law firm with his best-friend-and-vigilante.

..It would be cool to kind of chill with Bruce. Or Tony. But he'll keep that to himself and never ever say it out loud because that would destroy what precious little reputation he has. It's time not to be the plucky comic relief, dammit. ]

I've just heard about you. A lot, from where I come from. You and Tony Stark pretty much run anything with the words 'energy' or 'physics.' It's sort of like meeting a celebri--did you know Patsy is here?
hyperkinesia: (You want me to help you.)

[personal profile] hyperkinesia 2016-02-11 10:18 am (UTC)(link)
Well... yes, basically.

[ Oh he wishes he were just like everyone else, in the sense that most everyone doesn't walk around with a monster locked away inside. As for his intelligence, he does know he's smarter than a lot of people, but that doesn't mean he'd brag about it, or even thinks he's better than anyone else just because of it. ]

What? Oh-- Al. No, that's not him. It's a different kind of armor. More modern, high-tech, with propulsors, sensors, certain types of weapons incorporated into it too, among other things. It can fly, for instance. It's also highly resistant so it can withstand stronger attacks or harsher environmental conditions. [ A pause. ] I don't suppose you've ever heard of Iron Man, have you?
hyperkinesia: (It's not you I don't trust.)

[personal profile] hyperkinesia 2016-02-11 10:27 am (UTC)(link)
[ Bruce almost startles at that, eyebrows raising, though mostly he looks amused. And a little self-conscious, admittedly. It's not every day he gets people treating him like he's famous in any way at all. Recognizing him for his work is one thing, but that's usually in very specific circles.

Besides, at his point in time, he and Tony had just recently met - they certainly hadn't been working together long enough to get any sort of reputation, though he's aware by now that that's in his future.

The mention of that name has him frowning briefly, then he nods. ]
Trish. Yes, I've met her. [ He smiles a little. ] To be honest, I didn't even know she was a celebrity.
hyperkinesia: (Like it's thinking.)

[personal profile] hyperkinesia 2016-02-11 12:12 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Bruce manages to catch the medicine, a little awkwardly but at least before it falls to the floor. ]

Sorry. [ He looks apologetic too - it hadn't been his intention to scare her there. As for her appearance, he doesn't think much of it, at least not right now. He's mostly focused on that nasty black eye she's sporting. ]

Right. [ Down on the planet, he guesses. Things have become quite a lot more hostile down there, after Link's body showed up on the ship, and the Komai basically accused them all of being terrorists. Bruce is starting to see a pattern to the planets they visit, and honestly he's not sure he likes it much. ]

Let me take care of that for you? Please. [ He gestures at one of the exam tables nearby. ]
petridish: (I never hide)

[personal profile] petridish 2016-02-11 12:48 pm (UTC)(link)
[There's a bitter twist to her mouth at that - not using her gun too much is her trying to be resourceful, since they have yet to land on a planet where her gun's heat sinks are sold. Not that she feels like explaining that.

[Instead:]
The Komai. I don't mind the crew's idiocy [much], but I don't want outsiders' on our network. Especially if it's just to lie about us.
petridish: (I would have picked the other one)

[personal profile] petridish 2016-02-11 12:48 pm (UTC)(link)
[A snort.] I don't care about every little thing about you. I just want to know that I'm not getting another coworker who uses the MID to ask what a MID is and what a MID technician does.

[Sure, Sam had some good ideas, but he did not make a good first impression.]
whatawaste: (Thoughtful)

[personal profile] whatawaste 2016-02-11 01:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, at least he was honest. Although she wasn't entirely sure what he meant by 'astronomy class.' But that was pretty much the standard lately. Most of the people she'd met were practically speaking a different language.

It was unnerving her more than she wanted to admit.

She took another drag on her cigarette, frowning slightly. "Gotta say, this is one strange kriffing prison."

[OOC: You got it just right!]

[personal profile] gentlemenpreferblondes 2016-02-11 01:47 pm (UTC)(link)
[J purses her lips together and glares the table, then turning back to Bruce. Really, she's no stranger to bruises and cuts and she knows how to treat them and how to take care of herself. But then again, this one was far more bigger and painful than the most of other bruises she's dealt with in past. And it's not like she's all against of getting help either, honestly the what bothers her the most here is the way Bruce looks at her. So sorry and concerned.

After weighting the options here, she gives him a rather reserved and cautious, walks over the able and hops to sit on it.]

[The robot notices - of course it does; the zap isn't a strong one, not lethal to the average person, but on a metal body it's going to be noticeable. And her ancestors hate her.

The drone is a VI - intelligent enough that Tali can give it voice commands and it'll understand them on a basic level; that she can program it not to attack anyone with an MID. But it's not intelligent enough to know that when something is X to the power of Y times bigger than you, you should probably leave it alone. Luckily, Riptide crouching is what brings the MID into scanner range, and the drone immediately deactivates the electric pulse and hovers in place, waiting for further instructions.

Tali's mouth is too dry to give further instructions. At least the robot hasn't stomped on her drone...or even noticed her. Actually, it's being downright friendly, all things considered. And she's just wondering if she can look innocent, leave her drone to its fate and go completely unnoticed herself...

...when the drone seems to decide that, in the absence of instructions, it should make its way back over to her. And that's exactly what it does, casting pink lights across the street and bobbing over the more uneven bits of road. It reaches her, stops. And waits.]

Thanks, Chiktikka.

[In that second, she wishes Chiktikka was intelligent enough to understand the full scope of her wrath.]
gentlemenpreferblondes: (And so I'm through with love)

[personal profile] gentlemenpreferblondes 2016-02-11 02:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Huh? [J turns around to face the guy who approached her. He looks vaguely familiar, so he's probably not one of the newcomers.

J' still all hyped up, as she's still running on the adrenaline rush from earlier, and she smiles at him brightly, reaching to place her hand on his shoulder.]

Thank you so much! Did you watch the whole show, wasn't it just great?!
soldiergenes: (there will come a time)

[personal profile] soldiergenes 2016-02-11 03:18 pm (UTC)(link)
[ This isn't what Snake had expected, but honestly, he probably should have. There are enough beds for four people in here, and so it was only a matter of time before he and Wash would have to share the space.

Scott here comes on a little strong, but better someone who's overly friendly than someone who's a complete pain in the ass. Then again, there's no saying that Scott can't be both, but Snake will give it some time before he makes any assessments.

After giving the guy a quick handshake, Snake opens the door wider and then shifts to the side so that Scott can walk in. The room isn't particularly remarkable beyond the decor that can be found in every room on this deck. Since it's occupied by two soldiers, everything is neat and orderly. (There are a few cardboard boxes in Snake's corner of the room, though. His weapons he has the good sense to put out of sight.)

Most eye-catching are the three little kittens wandering around the room. One of them is curled up on Snake's bed, another one is hiding under Wash's bed, and the third is racing around the room with curious energy. ]

I'm Snake. Wash is the other guy bunking here, but he's out. [ He shrugs and then motions toward the empty beds. ] Make yourself at home.

[ If Ocelot's impressed by Snake's resemblance to Big Boss, then he should really see Solidus to get the full effect. Of course, he does end up working with Solidus in the end -- as much as Ocelot can "work with" anyone. He'd still betrayed him when the time had come.

Of all the questions Ocelot could have asked, it had to be that one. Snake sits with the lip of his glass near his mouth as he considers what to say. During their various interactions, Ocelot had never tried to ask him his name before.

Probably because he'd already learned it somewhere down the line.

He's already told Miller, but that's a completely different situation. Snake figures that Miller will keep his secrets for him if he asks, and so after a too-long pause he shakes his head, takes another sip, and puts the glass back down. ]

Classified.

[ Okay, so he might be enjoying this a little. ]
yer_pretty_good: images from tumblr (sly cat)

[personal profile] yer_pretty_good 2016-02-11 04:53 pm (UTC)(link)
[Ocelot has made a career out of betraying people. People who weren't Big Boss, anyway, so it's a wonder anyone trusts him with anything. It's probably better not to.]

Classified?

[Ocelot smiles, uttering a soft laugh as he pours himself another shot. He sets the bottle down and picks up the glass.]

Well, alright, Mr. Classified. I'll just call you David, if it's all the same to you. Or maybe just Snake.

[He kicks back the shot of whiskey in one go. It's not bad for space whiskey. Is Snake still enjoying this? Or did Ocelot burst his bubble? Now David is probably thinking through every person he's ever told his name to figure out who shared it with Ocelot of all people.]
soldiergenes: (and i have no idea)

[personal profile] soldiergenes 2016-02-11 04:53 pm (UTC)(link)
It wasn't like Snake had any way to confirm whether or not this guy was telling the truth, and that meant that he continued to remain unsettled about the whole thing. For all he know, he was dumping these kids right into the middle of a danger zone.

"Whatever else you're doing seems to leave you pretty tired too," Snake observed. He wasn't quite sure how he could tell that a skeleton was fatigued, but he could. Probably because whatever this thing was, it was much more animated than an actual skeleton would have been.

Also, had that pun been purposeful? Whatever, there wasn't time for that.

"Are you planning to transport more of them? I was gonna take a group, but that involves 'walking stuff.'" Which seemed like the safer option compared to some skeleton warping people around to who knew where.

Then we won't rely on luck.

[ She nodding to the barred window. ]

To work then, Ratchet. If we can get the bars off that window, I might be able to reach the lock on the other side. Otherwise...

[ She glances up, an air vent some feet above them. At least the ceiling was relatively low. ]
soldiergenes: (to face what i've done)

[personal profile] soldiergenes 2016-02-11 05:34 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Don't even talk to him about genes, Niko. After one conversation with Liquid, Snake has heard more than enough about them for his entire lifetime. ]

Whoever they're trying to implicate, they're dragging us into it too. [ Snake hasn't had any interaction with Link's son, but he knows Niko did. He wonders if he's been told about what happened to his father yet. It might be better to keep him in the dark for now, cruel as that might be. Not that Snake has control over how any of that goes down. ]

St. Murtel is definitely the shadiest of the cities on that planet. But we all figured that out already.

[ Niko isn't the only person who's expressed this particular feeling about how Emiri functions. Danny had said something similar, and Snake holds the same view. He may not be sentimental, but he still knows that this is wrong. ]

People will find any kind of reason to start fighting. Doesn't take much. [ He shakes his head and lets out a sigh, finding that familiar craving for a cigarette. ] So what happened to the body?
rraidergirl: (curiouser and curiouser)

[ The ease and the force that she tears the truck apart with is thrilling and terrifying. Lara's breath catches, eyes going wide.

She glances at Wanda and nods.
]

I think you're right.

[personal profile] rraidergirl 2016-02-11 05:49 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Excuse you, she's attempting to ignore that thing, why can't they focus on the thing Riptide's ignoring. ]

What, humans? I suppose that's true. I've been doing rather well at disproving that by now I should think.

[ The smile she gives him has a manic edge to it. ]

"It's hot chocolate... ish." Allison rubs her head. "I found this powder in the kitchen? It looked a lot like cocoa powder, so I tried a bit out and it mostly tasted like hot chocolate and I didn't get sick and die..."

It's a bit nuttier than regular hot chocolate and it kind of makes the tip of her tongue tingle slightly, but otherwise it's basically hot chocolate. And the milk seems to be milk, though she doesn't intend to ask if it came from a cow.
soldiergenes: (from the weak hands of the poor)

[personal profile] soldiergenes 2016-02-11 06:07 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Well, Snake would have to agree with him there. The people who decide to throw their cards in with Ocelot probably had it coming, given his reputation.

The second that his actual name is spoken, though, any illusion of civility between them disappears. Snake straightens in his seat, his hand clutching tight around his glass as he finds the rug pulled out from under him. How...?

The only people he's told his name are Miller and Danny, and in Danny's case it hadn't been purposeful. Miller would know better than to tell Ocelot, Snake's guessing, so that leaves Danny -- who probably didn't know what he was doing, or who he was talking to.

His bubble most certainly burst, Snake glances away, actually seeming a little put out. ]
Just Snake. [ It's a warning. If Ocelot tries to call him by his real name again, it won't end well. ]

[Well, that's something, as far as information goes; there hadn't been a whole lot he'd been given and able to parse in those first few seconds before he'd been directed along, so that's at least a little more of the situation filled in. Still, he can muse over that later, and X shakes his head.]

I understood something on those lines--the "kidnapping".

[It hadn't sounded quite so malicious, though.]

I meant the commotion; is that normal here, or does it have something to do with--

{He straightens a little as he speaks, looks around, catalogs by sight, starts files for each face.]

--the influx of people?

[Or is that normal, too? Given the way he was received, it kind of seems like it.]
