Agent Washington | together | open
Walking down the hall now with the person he's accompanying, he glances over briefly to make sure they're still there. They're with him for his own safety as much as he is for theirs, honestly. Satisfied upon seeing them though, he turns his gaze forward again. ]
Where were we heading, again? [ The question comes, but his tone of voice slows toward the end of it as the power around them flickers. Clenching his jaw, having an idea of what's coming, he looks back over, sounding nervous as he continues; ] Be ready. I think it's coming.

[He wanted to poke about. Not that he was supposed to or that he was even technically allowed, but Eggsy wanted to see if he could get in and see anything new. Since everything that had happened on the last planet they'd been on, he'd been mostly keeping to himself, and that wasn't quite possible right now.
Wash was cool, as far as he could tell, the friendly sort, and that worked just fine for him.]
Yeah? [Eggsy's hands come up, taking on a defensive stance.] Where?

Adrian 'Force' Clark | Open
[There was one thing about Adrian Clark that was simultaneously incredibly dangerous and incredibly stupid. He just didn't listen. He didn't listen, he didn't heed warnings and he'd seen enough awful shit that he no longer really rationalized a lot of things.
So when the captains told them not to travel alone he shrugged and went about his life as normal, smoking in a dark corner of the ship. He knew he was trained to kill, trained to bring down buildings, trained to level towns, trained not to feel while he did it. Unfortunately it was hard to level an enemy that didn't seem to really exist. It was the last thought he had as the creature appeared out of the darkness, even while the mutant raised a hand to stop it in its tracks, that this thing, whatever it was, couldn't be stopped the way he stopped everything else.
He didn't have long to worry about it though, not before Ploiatus grabbed his hand. When the boy comes around again he'll bare the marks of that encounter, very specific marks that curl up into his bicep, stopping when they meet another mark which is bisected by an angry, jagged scar.
Maybe next time he'll listen.]

Hey. [She prods him in the ribs with the toe of her boot.] Get up. [Truly, her concern is heartwarming. Her face is covered by her helmet this time around, but she’s wearing the same armor she had on the planet -- in other words, Ade will know it’s her.]

Eric Dufosset | Open
[Eric knew the warning from the captains should be heeded, already he was feeling terror and anxiety at the edges of his empathy. It was a strange sensation, having other people's emotions factoring in on his own psyche, especially when the hysteria was as wide-spread as it'd been on the ship.
He needed to get from his office though, and thankfully someone had been walking past as he reaches an arm out to grab them quickly, fire flaring up behind him like an aura as the power suddenly goes out. He speaks quickly, knowing he might be frightening like this.]
I'm sorry for startling you- I think we must leave this place. Go somewhere more populated. I just... I get the impression we really shouldn't be alone.
no subject
Right... Yeah, I was going to do that... Come on, we might as well go together. Could you just... [He points at the fire behind Eric and makes a general 'turn it down' gesture.] Or is that safe even like that?

Eggsy Unwin | ota
[Eggsy's not one to sit around and let some weird ghost thing hurt or kill people. So he makes rounds, alone. Sure, he's lucky enough that he doesn't get attacked, and maybe that has to do with the fact that he's still recovering so the creature doesn't want anything to do with someone not up to snuff, maybe it's something else. Either way, he's been lucky.
Now he's prowling the halls, just seeing what he can see, doing what he can do.]
Oi! What're you doin' out here alone?
[Same as him, but that's not important.]
Bait & Lure:
[He didn't think he'd be around, in this particular area of the ship with a group of the crew when the creature shows up. Eggsy can't remember who decided it was best to surround it, probably a team decision, but the creature-zombie-ghost-gross-thing doesn't seem to like having so many people around.
It's confused.
It's a weakness.
That's something he can work with. He spreads his arms out, trying to make a fence, a good barrier to keep it from getting by.]
Stay close. Gotta keep it here.
together;
I - I'm sorry! I wanted to go back to my room for awhile! And now I'm headed back to the kitchen!

But there's no denying what had shown up on that broadcast. The captains are dropping like flies, and as much as Snake might have an issue with them, he isn't going to stand by and let whatever that thing was target the rest of the crew.
Heading out on his own isn't the wisest decision, but going it alone is second nature to Snake, and he also figures it won't be long before he runs into someone else.
That's exactly what happens. When some kid calls him out in a thick British accent (nothing like Liquid's, though, and Snake can't help but be grateful for that), he stops in his tracks and tilts his head to one side, giving the other crew member a quick once-over. ]
I could ask you the same question.

Peridot | Semi-Open
She's in the med-bay when it happens, tinkering with some of the tricky equipment that helps keep the cryo-chambers running smoothly. Her MID beeps at her, the "URGENT" message flashes at her as she glances at it.
Not exactly trained to keep a cool head in a crisis, the warning message does little more than cause Peridot to panic. Don't travel alone?? She is alone, right now! Save for the few crew members currently in cryo-suspension, anyway, and she has to assume that they don't count. Scared out of her mind, Peridot glances down the row in the direction of where Ratchet is resting, wishing earnestly that she could just wake him up for some backup.
But she can't, and she knows it. She needs to find other conscious people. Or, more to the point, she needs to find her goddamn escort...
OTA, AROUND THE HALLS
After sending out a frantic message to Jasper, Peridot slinks out of the med-bay and into the halls. Alone. She's jumpier than a balloon animal in a needle factory, creeping around and listening for other crew members nearby while also trying to keep an eye on the lights, and keep another ear out for this mysterious monster--
She has one gauntlet transformed into a blaster, so at least she's armed, which gives her some comfort... but not much. She isn't trained to use it, so she's just as likely to hurt herself as she is to hurt an enemy.
Hopefully she doesn't blast you with it, if you creep up on her unannounced.
CLOSED TO JASPER
Much the same as before, she's still wandering the halls alone... and then the lights go out.
Not good.
Standing stock still in the dark, Peridot keeps her eyes and ears open for movement. More terrified than words can describe, the temptation to drop to the floor and curl up in a ball is nearly overwhelming.
around the halls;
Except they are frightened enough that no songs are coming to mind, so they're just sort of singing whatever comes to mind. Which is not much.]
Singing... about walking down the hall... this ship seems pretty small... and stuff...!

[ It isn't that Clark didn't take the warnings seriously - he's very aware of how dangerous the creature is, and that's all the more reason to find it before any more of the crew are attacked.
He diverts to pick up any fallen crew members and bring them back to medbay, but generally he spends his time looking for trouble. The lights and the slowly failing life support systems don't impede him, but the creature proves harder to find than he would have expected.
It finds him first, alone in a darkened hallway. It's faster than a blink, but so is Clark, when he wants to be. He turns, unafraid even as it reaches for him. If it was locked up once, it can be locked up again.
Nothing has ever really been able to harm him before, and he doesn't expect it to start with this. Before he can say a word however, the creature reaches for him, and cold overtakes him at once.
The only sign that anything has happened is a distress signal from his MID. ]
Medbay (open)
[ It's extremely unsettling to wake up in a hospital bed, tired and cold. The latter is an almost entirely novel feeling, but Clark pushes himself to sit up, the blankets pooling around his waist. He immediately regrets it, flinching in obvious pain; his whole body is just one tired ache. It's not exactly scary just - new, and strange. Maybe he should have been more careful. Nothing on Earth can hurt him, but the universe is a lot bigger than Earth.
Quietly: ] Huh, so that's what it feels like...
[ His shirt and uniform jacket are laying at he foot of his bed - the medical staff probably removed them so they could get a look at the marks spreading up from his bicep to the side of his neck. Clark lifts his arm to try getting a better look at them, but they don't seem dangerous. He scratches lightly at one of the dark lines. It doesn't hurt more than anything else. The marks just feel invasive somehow, after a life of nothing leaving so much as a scar. He doesn't like this.
He reaches for his shirt to pull it back on. He's moving a little slower than usual, but he's clearly planning on leaving immediately now that he's awake. ]
medbay
the opportunity to talk to clark just hadn't come up since his release from the morgue -- or maybe he just hadn't made one. he's spent the last week and change since then in varying states of misery and alarm, trying to turn over all the things he's seen and heard in the last three weeks. he swears the cold must be making his brain freeze, too, because he feels awfully slow.
the involuntary stay in the morgue hadn't been very good for miles, and while he's had some time to recoup, he still looks a little too pale and thin, although at least now he's bundled in a coat instead of just wrapped in blankets -- one that actually fits. the medbay's a little warmer than other parts of the ship now, at least, now that the cold is beginning to subside. miles shifts on his perch -- the chair next to clark's bed has been turned around so that the back is facing clark, miles' legs straddling either side with his arms propped on the low back of the chair. he tilts his head at clark with a smile as thin and tired-looking as he is, but it is, at least, an attempt. ]
I wouldn't try getting up just yet, if I were you.

[Somehow the threat made him feel as though he was in his element. He didn't doubt the danger, not for a moment. But the impending risk, the knowledge that there was something out there that could do that; yeah, it was intimidating but in it's own way reassuring that there was something that could be done about it.]
[He has his sniper slung over his shoulder and the carbine in hand when he meets up with Eggsy. He's not coming in slowly, either. He barges into the rec room at full run, having sprinted as if his life depended on it (as is proper in this sort of situation.) He's not wasting time in getting from one place to another.]
Good! You're in one piece. ...Er... mostly.
[He gestures at Eggsy's arm, or lack thereof.] If we see it I want to mark the place in the corridor. I brought some tape with me. [The same tape he used on Miles.] We will leave a big "X" there to warn it has been seen. If there is a pattern, better able to find it. Is anyone recording where the attacks were?

It's not so bad. They replaced it with a sword thing.
[He waves his arm up and down, you could only see the hand where his jacket didn't cover it, but the hand was clearly not his actual hand.]
Got some help from some smart birds in the Medbay.

Elizabeth DeWitt
[She'd only had to wrap one blanket around her shoulders recently, and Elizabeth was holding out hope that perhaps the captains were in fact getting around to fixing the support systems. It was, at least, warm enough that Elizabeth could move around to do some shelving without wanting to curl up into a little ball and shivering.]
[There's a loud sound out in the hallway, and Elizabeth looks towards the door with a little frown. What was that?]
[She pulls the blanket tighter around her and starts to walk to the door, to look out into the hallway.] Is everything alright out there? [She calls. The lights in the library all flicker, which she's used to. It's when they go out that she freezes in place while the room is plunged into darkness.]
[When the lights come back on, Elizabeth is sprawled on the floor, unconscious.]
[Network Broadcast - Voice / Together]
Does anybody have any lipstick? I woke up in the medical bay, I don't intend to wake up there again because something put me there.

Meh Yewll | Open
[It's lucky the Meh Yewll lived in the clinic back home, because she's firmly decided not to leave medbay until this is taken care of and it's a habit she's used to. Might as well stay, whatever this thing is bringing in a lot of people.]
[She has a wide range of experience, but this is new to her. She's been insisting that no one leave alone. Of course, no one ever listens to her and leaves whenever they please. But she is doing her best to get that last check up in, take samples of the strange crawling damage to analyze.]
[She has a sample she's scrutinizing with a microscope right then, going over readings as she waits for the next person to come in or leave.]

[ miles decided to wait until the medbay settled down a little in the wake of the whole freaky event. he's been in and out visiting, and he knows how busy it's been. his concerns really aren't immediate, although he's definitely been feeling worse since his stint in the morgue. actually, that's sort of why he hasn't made it back in since then. he's reluctant to admit it, but the dressing down cúrre had given him had made him a little gunshy.
but he has to go in eventually; the pain's starting to get bad. he's been having these osteo-inflammatory attacks since he was about twenty or so, they crop up every so often, but lately he's been feeling the more acute need for some painkillers. even his legs have been aching, although that must be by some psychosomatic association, because he'd had the bones in his legs replaced with plastic synthetics a few years back.
miles sidles into the medbay, his slight limp a little worse than usual, catching sight of doc yewll from the door. ah, good. he won't have to limp around looking for her. fortunate, because what he most wants to do right now is not be standing anymore. all the running around he and ivan were doing in the dark didn't really help. ]

Athena | closed
[It feels good to actually have a mission again. For the first time in weeks, she has a clear target and objective, not vague orders to wander around a planet or mingle with the locals. It’s a relief, to be honest. She comes to the one opened door of the I.L.R, where she had planned to meet with a collaborator and does a quick sweep of the area. If the creature is nearby, it doesn't make itself known.
Their plan is simple: one of them will lure the creature in the direction of the opened door and then together, they’ll back it back into the room from whence it came. Of course, the plan is somewhat complicated by the fact that the creature in question can incapacitate or kill with only a touch; it’s a good thing Athena appreciates a challenge.
She raises her M.I.D and sends a quick audio message to her squadmate.] I’m in position. Are you inbound?
no subject
Yeah. Keep your pants on. I'm here.
[ He stopped next to Athena, turning to face the empty hallway. ]
So where is it?
(no subject)
closed to miles.
Great, fantastic. Exactly what he wanted to spend his time doing.
Which means he's trailing behind Miles -- not talking to him -- when the lights flicker. Great -- first the heat and now the power. What is wrong with this ship?
LMK IF THIS IS OK
Ignore has always been Ivan's tactic, not Miles'. He hasn't been ignoring Ivan so much as deliberately putting himself in his cousin's way and being snide at him on a subtle enough level that all that Gregor can really do is give him a weary look. No doubt their cousin has gotten very tired of their feud the last few days.
But Ivan's overreacting. And Miles is only reacting, or so he tells himself. Force Ivan to notice him when Ivan's trying so hard to ignore him. It's hardly a new tactic for Miles, not just to Ivan but the world at large. But the not-talking thing is starting to wear on him, regardless of how pissed he is at his cousin. It isn't as though he'd come out of that last conversation feeling good. What little ground he'd struggled to take spoiled soon after Ivan left the room, leaving a bitter taste in his mouth.
And now his stupid cousin won't even walk next to him. What a frigging jerk. Considering this buddy system horseshit is for survival purposes, he could at least let that take precedent over his petty -- whatever. As if Miles' is any less petty. The lights flicker and Miles stops abruptly, tensing, and he lets out an annoyed grunt as Ivan bumps right into him, nearly scaring the piss out of him. "For god's sake, Ivan, would it kill you to walk next to me?"

Jasper – OTA
But once the technician's been seen to somewhere safe, where other people are (along with Orange Tabby and White Long Hair), Jasper really isn't content to just sit around while some unknown threat is haunting the Moira's corridors. She tries, for a while, but she hates being idle at times likes this. And besides, she's hardly fulfilling her role as bodyguard if she isn't making any effort to ensure the ship as a whole is secure.
So instead Jasper's pacing the corridors of the ship on her own. Despite the warnings, she's unafraid – perhaps it's because darkness and cold don't bother her the way they do organic lifeforms, and so she's been unbothered by most everything that's lead up to this, but she's sure there's nothing here that poses a threat to her. And if she can't find and punch something that needs punching, then at the very least she ought to be able to haul some of her crewmates out of harm's way.
Probably literally.
She might not put them down afterwards, if they look small.
Re: Jasper – OTA
And that's when he suddenly finds himself yanked off his feet. Miles clamps his mouth down on an incipient scream, managing to stifle it to a choked yelp as his legs kick out uselessly on reflex, his heart rate rocketing upward. Only a moment later does he manage to make out a familiar face in the dark -- or, well, a familiar silhouette, because no one else on the ship has Jasper's build. He gives her a strangled grin, paled by the light of his MID.
"Hello, Jasper," he greets her with a chirp. "We really do need to stop meeting like this."

Hiro - Closed to Clark
He walks down the hallways, trying to hurry to the Mess Hall when the lights flicker. He stops, looking around for the cause. ]
...Hello?
[ A chill goes down his spine as his MID goes offline. The lights flicker again and then everything goes dark for him.
Clark will find him, unconscious in the hallway with a beaten up baseball cap clutched in one small hand and a black mark spreading along the right side of his face. ]
careens in late
He's been following any MID alerts, too - even if they don't begin working again until the creature is gone, they make it easier to find other crew members who might need his help. He's nearby when he gets the alert for Hiro - it takes barely a second to get to him, and Clark crouches beside him, concern clear in his expression.
Clark can still hear his heartbeat, and there are no injuries aside from the black mark on his face, but he's just a child.
He touches the boy's shoulder lightly. ]
