revive the risk
"Big things have small beginnings."

Things have been going relatively well for the crew of the Moira thus far despite their current circumstances. With D-E-L’s help, many supplies have already been gathered, and those with the necessary components have begun making much needed repairs. Yet, things aren’t as peaceful on Del Pascia as they might have seemed.

The resident facility AI has slowly started growing more and more unresponsive to questions, often answering in rather irritated tones and short, snippy answers. Still, no system glitches appear across the prison except for one minor detail: random doors and hallways suddenly lock and close for no reason and don’t open again for varying amounts of time—ranging from minutes to hours. Does this have anything to do with the unsettling feeling some crew members have experienced since stepping foot onto Del Pascia? Or is there a simple explanation that can be easily chalked up to as an accident?

DECONTAMINATION #2 ( 04.14 - 04.17 )
On the Moira, crew come and go without much hassle. They take a transporter to planets and moons and back again without any fuss... Until today. All crew that try to reboard the Moira coming back from Del Pascia will be denied access, a warning flashing on their MID - Decontamination Required for Entry. It’s a protocol that hasn’t been enacted before, and the MID offers no explanation as to why it is now. The transporter will seal and then be permitted to dock in the Cargo Bay, where the procedure will begin. All crew on the transporter have to dispose of their clothing by placing it inside hazardous waste bags located in a compartment near the front of the craft. After all clothing is stored, a gas-like substance will fill the transporter, breathable yet tasteless, and once it dissipates, crew will be free to go.

Other crew members will be waiting in the cargo bay with clothing and blankets, per the captain’s instruction, but no clear explanation will be given for this sudden new protocol aside from “potential health risks”.

D.ON'T E.VER L.EAVE ( 04.18 - 04.23 )
After the decontamination procedures for the Moira go off, the captains issue a ship-wide alert to let the crew know that the ship is picking up on something inside each person that boarded the space station. It is speculated that the crew came in contact with an unknown biological contaminant either during the station’s decontamination procedure or sometime after. At this point, they aren’t aware of what will happen to those that are carrying the contaminant, and the captains ask for anybody with experience to head to the Medbay to begin testing. Crew don’t appear to be in any danger, so they are allowed to continue gathering materials and supplies on board the space station at their discretion. (Every time they come and go, they will be made to go through the procedure described above).

Any crew remaining on Del Pascia will find that D-E-L is more vocal than ever before. It is answering questions, as well as trying to convince crew members to abandon the Moira and take up permanent residence aboard the space station.

FEAR ME, LOVE ME, DO AS I SAY ( 04.24 - 04.28 )
Like most unfortunate things, it seems everything happens all at once. The noises you heard, a step falling moments after yours or a rattle coming from the vents, become louder. You can’t place where they are coming from at first. You turn, you follow, but the search yields no results. And then, without any warning, it’s crystal clear as “they” begin to creep and move from within the shadows and ruined sections of Del Pascia: the prisoners and workers said to have been relocated by D-E-L. Their voice is one, regardless of how many gather, and they tell you, “You can be happy here” and “I can make you better” shortly after.

Worse than the way they speak in unison is the way they look. Mutated and deformed, their prison uniforms are in tatters and covered in various levels of the same blood that the crew has experienced during their time on Del Pascia while visiting the prison blocks. They don’t attack to kill; they only try to detain, to drag crew members further into the station and are methodical and precise in how they do this as if they’re being controlled by something greater and much smarter than them.

To those that fight, D-E-L’s voice will call out, telling the Moiran not to struggle, to stay here and be safe, be better. The AI explains that life there on Del Pascia is easy, peaceful, and nobody will cause you pain. Suffering is a thing of the past and loneliness is something you’ll never know again. The prisoners follow the command of the AI, its voice falling from their lips. D-E-L claims they feel no pain, no hunger. They are united in one purpose and are therefore free of all strife. Wouldn’t it be nice to be free like that?

As always, fearing for the safety of the crew (and despite the disrepair of the Moira from events prior), the captains ask for all those capable to assist with extracting those aboard Del Pascia as quickly as possible before D-E-L tries to lock them inside. Running, after all, is better than dying, and it’s certainly something everyone aboard the Moira has gotten quite good at.

I: fear me, love me, do as i say

[Peggy had stayed away from the prison since her birthday, but not exactly by choice. While she would have much rather been with rest of the crew, helping and being productive in searching for supplies, she had to stay back due to a rather unfortunate injury she acquired. Sure, breaking her hand was completely her fault, but that didn't mean she had to like it. And there was the issue of it being her dominant hand. Everything was much more complicated for her, just because of that.

But when she heard about the crew being attacked by the prisoners? She didn't blink twice.

With her pistol in her left hand, Peggy made her way back to the Del Pascia, determined to be of help. People were in danger, she had to do something. Maybe she couldn't fight at her usual skill level, but she could still shoot. That had to count for something. Only she found out very quickly just how much help guns were. Which was none whatsoever. Her bullets hit the mutated prisoners, but they didn't seem fazed. They kept coming, like nothing had even happened.]

Damn.

II: wildcard

[Any time prior to the attack by the mutated prisoners, Peggy can be found anywhere around the Moira, struggling to do things with her one good hand. Lend her one?]

[Del Pascia wasn't for him. He'd spent the last three years in prison, even if it hadn't been as bad an experience for him as it was most people, Scott was in no hurry to go back. He didn't like having the solid four walls around him and he didn't trust this place not to malfunction and lock them all in.

So he sticks to the Moira, at least for now, checking the vents for blockages, because it might not be a glamorous job, but it was his. It beat making smoothies.]

Hi, I'm Scott.

[He didn't want to act all macho, not his style, but he saw a person that needs some help, and he was going to offer it.]

Need two more?

[He lifts his hands, smiling at her.]

[All she wanted to do was make a cup of tea. Or whatever this fake Moira stuff was. Was that too much to ask?

Unfortunately, even with all her spy training, she's not exactly the best at using just her left hand. It's not like being left handed was very common in her time, anyone that favored it was simply taught to use their right hand like everyone else. That didn't mean she couldn't use it, but she was a bit clumsy with it still, as she was readjusting to primarily using it and only it. But this wasn't the first time she had to favor it, and she was determined to be able to use it like nothing was wrong.

Which meant refusing to ask anyone for help, when she so very obviously needed it.

When Scott approached, she was in the middle of fighting with the wrapper, but rather than offer it to him, she went the very unladylike way and used her teeth to rip it open.]

Thank you, but I think I can manage. [Peggy Carter can do many things with ease but asking for help is not one of them.]

I can see that.

[Scott was no stranger to strong women that could and would take care of themselves without any help from anyone else. He supported those kind of women. Found them attractive. But that wasn't going to stop him from trying to be a gentleman about it.]

What kind of tea are you having?

[He pulls a cup over for himself, looking at the bags to see if there's anything he's heard of.]

I've never been much of a tea man, myself, but I'm willing to try new things.

[personal profile] cookshisgoose 2016-04-26 03:10 am (UTC)(link)
I have no idea. [And she's being completely honest. Whatever tea she's making isn't a tea from her world, but it doesn't taste too terribly different.]

But it's rather similar to British breakfast tea. You can try it if you like. It's a bit different to iced tea, if that's what you're familiar with. [Even in the 40's, iced tea was way more popular in America than the brewed hot tea she grew up with. But she can't be sure he's actually from America, even if his accent sounds like it. With so many varied places around here, it was never a guarantee.]

I'll give it a shot.

[Scott uses his teeth to rip open the bag, when in Rome, and then drops it into his cup. It's not his favorite thing to drink, but he's not really picky about that sort of stuff. The only thing he misses from back home is the people, everything else just doesn't seem as important.]

Ever had a mango fruit blast? I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they had a Baskin Robbins around here somewhere.

[Or something that was like it.]
cookshisgoose: (pic#10045109)

[personal profile] cookshisgoose 2016-04-27 10:06 am (UTC)(link)
Considering I'm not even sure what a Baskin Robbins is. [Sorry Scott. While that business exists, it and the growing popularity of smoothies are both West Coast things. She's not yet made her trip out to L.A.]

I'm assuming it's some sort of fruit drink? [Given they were talking about drinks, she's going to take a wild guess that's a "mango fruit blast" is. It's not really that much of a stretch, though.]
getweird: (94)

[personal profile] getweird 2016-04-29 08:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Fruit, juice, and ice all blended together.

[He says it wistfully, but if he really wanted one he could try to replicate it here. Scott's not that invested, but maybe he can talk to the chef about it.]

And Baskin Robbins is a place that sells ice cream and other desserts. Nothing hot and fresh, since that confuses some people. [He's not sure why he's explaining that, since she seemed intelligent.] What part of England are you from?
cookshisgoose: (pic#10137471)

[personal profile] cookshisgoose 2016-05-01 09:41 am (UTC)(link)
I've heard that combination is quite delicious, but I'm afraid I don't own a liquidizer. [She means a blender. She may have spent a lot of time in America recently but she still has her British vocabulary.]

London, actually. But I've spent the last few years living in New York. [The store he explains sounds wonderful, though. Who doesn't like ice cream?]

We have ice cream shops, but not that one. Not yet, anyway. [She's just taking a wild guess and assuming the reason she doesn't know it is because of what year she's from. That tended to be the reason for a lot of mix ups.]
getweird: (59)

[personal profile] getweird 2016-05-04 10:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Haven't had the chance to visit London or New York.

[Though after the mess he'd watched on the news in the rec area, he's guessing that might not have been such a bad thing. Towers falling, aliens. Aliens.]

Not yet?

[Scott looks at her curiously, a brow raised. He's met people from all over the place the last few months, but he knows it's better to ask for clarification than to assume anything.]

Not yet as in they're building one down the street and it's not open yet? Or?

[personal profile] cookshisgoose 2016-05-05 08:04 am (UTC)(link)
More like, it was 1947 where I'm from and I have a feeling it wasn't for you. [Story of her life, really. This was a conversation she felt like she had already had a dozen times over. Even if he hadn't really sad anything that made her sure he was from the future, most everyone here was. It wasn't much of a leap to assume he really was from the 21st century, like so many others she had met before him.

But that isn't his fault, so she's pleasant and answers his question without issue.]
getweird: (72)

[personal profile] getweird 2016-05-06 04:30 am (UTC)(link)
No, you're about 68 years behind me.

[Scott frowns, and then shrugs it off. It was strange to say something like that, but nothing he'd let cause him any stress.]

It's too bad you didn't have any Baskin Robbins back then, you've got no idea what you're missing out on.
cookshisgoose: (pic#10078222)

[personal profile] cookshisgoose 2016-05-08 05:34 am (UTC)(link)
As I am for most everyone here. Have you ever noticed just how many are from the 21st century? [Because she certainly has. And it seemed like a majority.]

It is quite the shame. [And yet, she won't lose any sleep over it.]
whoami: (Felt it in my fist)

I.

[ There's three great rules to martial arts. If an opponent can't see, they can't fight. If an opponent can't stand, they can't fight and if an opponent can't breathe they can't fight. Pain, be it from gunshot or not, doesn't enter into it.

Sam was learning (sadly) just how effective a disk could be. So when the white circle comes from behind Peggy, it's to, literally, cut one off at the knee, then ricochet once and get another just above the ankle before embedding itself in the wall. The effect is falling tripping, stumbling and notably very little blood.

Sam came running by in his Grid suit to get his disk out of the wall, then do a sort of hop-step to escape a foot-grab. ]

Hey! Let go or I'll cut that off, too!
cookshisgoose: (pic#10053244)

[personal profile] cookshisgoose 2016-04-21 09:05 am (UTC)(link)
[She heard the disk before she saw it. What it was, she had no idea, but when she saw Sam, Peggy couldn't help but be relieved.]

Brilliant timing, Sam.

[Another few seconds and she would've been toast. And now it's her turn to help him. Maybe using her right hand was out of the question, but that didn't limit what she could do with her feet.

She rushes to his aid, giving the prisoner that was after him a heavy kick to the face. Maybe it wouldn't stay down, but down for a moment was better than still having a hold on him.]

We need to get out of here, and fast. [This was worse than she feared. She hadn't liked the prison from the moment she had stepped on it, but she had no idea it would come to this. Now the question was, how in the world were they to save those trapped by these monsters?]
whoami: (at the end of my rope)

[personal profile] whoami 2016-04-22 05:35 am (UTC)(link)
[ Would you believe it's actually a copy of Sam's brain? That's actually what Programs are fighting with; their brain's. Sam's a User so it's basically a copy. He won't lose his memory if he loses his disk or glitch out if something happens to it.

Sam still managed to get free, and shrugged after he put the deactivated disk in the dock between his shoulderblades. ]

Is it bad to say I almost expected things to go sideways?

[ Sam doesn't wait for a reply, just follows Peggy as fast as he can. A few times he overtakes her in speed through the labyrinthine station. The wires hanging from whats left of controls gave him an idea. ]

Helping people isn't something I've ever been good at. But I can make it harder to follow us.

[ It takes some trial and error but Sam is able to use the dangling wires and keypad to shut the barred door. ]

Can't promise I'll be able to do that on all the doors, but some. Let's get out of here at least.

Not at all. I'm only surprised it didn't happen sooner. [because she had thought the same thing, when they first docked on at the prison. Something just didn't seem right, and she knew her gut well enough to trust it. But of all the things she imagined might occur, mutant zombie prisoners was the last thing on her mind.]

I don't believe that. [Him? Not good at helping people? So what was he doing now? And she wasn't about to forget what he did for the whales, helping to give them a voice.]

If you can do it to more, do it. Anything to slow them down. [She needed time to think, to strategize what to do next. There had to be a way to stop them, but how? Other than literally chopping their legs off.]
