"I feel liberated when I'm doing it, and I want other people to feel liberated through it."
☄ ENJOY YOUR STAY ... IN PRISON Those who choose to go to Del Pascia will find themselves greeted by D-E-L. It has already agreed to terms with the Captains, allowing crew to strip nonessential supplies that aren’t needed since the station’s crew and prisoners were relocated due to funding cuts. The only condition placed upon this agreement is that any crew wishing to explore must undergo a mandatory decontamination before proceeding through the rest of Del Pascia. This process takes only minutes and is guaranteed to cause no physical side effects. Following this simple procedure, exploration is open with only warnings to be careful about damaging key systems. It is important to note that there are various security cameras located throughout the correctional facility, and it is not uncommon for D-E-L to comment or show concern for those exploring parts of Del Pascia. ☄ DEATH BECOMES YOU There is salvage to be found in all parts of the facility, including the cell blocks and infirmaries of the prison wings. However, there is something odd about these sectors, a strange charge in the air that follows you as you search for anything useful to bring back to the Moira. Perhaps it is the eyes of D-E-L watching? But then, after an indiscernible amount of time, it's like a switch is flipped. Suddenly, you are wearing your sins where anyone but you can see. For however much death you have wrought or committed, there will be blood on your hands—perhaps even further than that. This bizarre occurrence will appear as an almost digital skin and will not vanish until outside the cell blocks. If exploring the infirmaries for supplies, any and all health stats throughout your life will be visible and easy to read by anyone who happens to take an interest. ☄ WHAT WAS THAT SOUND? Del Pascia is a very large station and has been abandoned for quite some time. D-E-L will regretfully inform anyone who asks that some nonessential areas have fallen into disrepair. It will warn that exploring these areas can be risky as it has no knowledge of what damage these sections have taken. Regardless of that, if you venture in, you’ll find that these sections are in rather bad shape. Exposed wiring sparks in the walls, a great variety of broken tools are thrown about, and it seems that every camera has been purposely broken. Venturing in further will yield valuable components for salvage, and yet... as before, you suspect you aren’t alone. It isn’t often, but sometimes, you might hear a step falling moments after yours or a rattle coming from the vents. Every time you go to investigate... whatever made the noise is gone. |

[ Yata has his own display of medical information that ultimately displays a pretty similar list to Peter's... give or take a few extra stab wounds. Also similar is Yata's distraction from his own displayed statistics. Not because of the retractor (okay, not entirely, because it is pretty creepy) but because of the display hovering near Peter. Most of it is pretty mundane, which just makes that 'mutant' part stand out that much more. ]
Did you know your DNA's mutated?
[ Not that Yata himself understands the implications of that, but it seems like something Peter might not be aware of. It's not like Yata knows anything about his DNA. ]
no subject
No shit, dude. Wait- didn't you know that?
[He glances to Yata, puzzled and his eyes widen when he sees Yata's display. There's nothing there to really throw him, even the stab wounds. But seeing the hovering words is still weird and it takes him a second to adjust.]
So there are words on you. That's a thing. Stabbed huh? But more importantly, I really never mentioned I was a mutant?
no subject
[ Yata's a little puzzled that Peter is acting like this is some sort of common knowledge, and even more confused by the mention of words hovering around him. He looks around, trying to locate them, and is subsequently distracted by both the mention of stabbing and Peter's subsequent question. ]
Of course not! I'd remember being told something like that.
[ Cause it sounds cool as hell, for one. ]
What's being a mutant mean? You don't look any different from most people.
[ ... Well, aside from the hair, but Yata personally knows three other teenagers with silver hair. It's not even a consideration for him. ]
no subject
I've been telling most people. Guess I just thought I'd already mentioned it to you.
[He turns putting the retractor away and using it as an excuse to look at something else for a moment.]
It's a mutation in the DNA. It's what gives me my powers, you know? And the hair, technically. I don't get a lot of it, so don't ask me how it works. But it just makes us different from other people.
no subject
... Peter having powers is actually also news to Yata, though it's not terribly surprising. And it's enough to make him understand why Peter is nervous to bring it up. ]
Oh. Our world has those too, actually, but we call 'em Strains.
[ It's a similarity Yata wasn't expecting their worlds to have. The important part, however, is that he sounds perfectly calm about. ]
So mutants can do stuff like see the future or change their shape or control peoples' minds, right?
no subject
[He's a little surprised to hear Yata's encountered something similar, and a lot grateful that he's not making a big deal of it. It's not something he likes having to stress about, that initial worry he's about to be mocked or yelled at for being something different. It hasn't been much of an issue on the Moira, but Peter still feels the relief whenever a conversation on the matter heads the right way.]
I guess? I haven't met to many others really. I'm not entirely sure what they can all do. I've mostly seen more psychical powers. But the mind stuff, yeah. I've heard of it.
[By what Billy's told him, it seems to run in his family. It just happened to skip Peter.]
no subject
[ And all in varying degrees - though, again, that's not something Yata really knows enough about to explain in any significant detail. Either way, the end result is the same: what Peter describes to him isn't unusual. So long as he doesn't summon giant cat statues or anything equally odd. ]
So if it's in your DNA it's something you're born with, right? Your parents were mutants, too?
no subject
[It's hypocritical, he knows. He doesn't tell what he saw Erik and Logan do, worried they wouldn't want it told. But he's still curious about what others have seen in their worlds.]
If they don't mind you telling.
[At the mention of his parents, he shrugs a shoulder.]
Mom's human. Don't know about the other. But yeah, I was born with it.
no subject
Anna's the one I know best. She's got this little red marbles--
[ He holds up his hand, holding his thumb and forefinger about an inch apart. ]
--and she can use 'em to do all kinds of stuff. She can read minds, or spy on people, and if you give her a map she can track down anyone. And it's useless to lie to her 'cause she'll just see right through it.
[ That last one might be a personality quirk rather than any power, but it always seemed supernatural to Yata. Regardless, he sounds equal parts fond and proud when he talks about her. ]
They're not always human, though. Anna brought home a Strain that was a horse, once.
no subject
[A good sign, in Peter's opinion. If someone can already have a decent relationship with someone like him, it makes Peter think better of whatever future Yata comes from.]
She's got an awful lot of powers in one. Are all the Strains like that? Wide range of powers?
[He can't imagine all mutants being like Billy and Wanda. So much overwhelming power is awing in just a small part of the population, let alone the whole group.]
A horse? Really, dude. A horse.
no subject
[ It's a little complicated, but 'family' is a good descriptor. ]
But most Stains can't even do half of what she can, even before she became the Red King. Anna's just special.
[ There's that pride again, though when Peter asks about about the horse, Yata ends up sighing instead. ]
Yeah, a horse. It could turn white and grow wings, but it couldn't even fly once it did that.
no subject
[He thinks of the little on the twins are gathering here. Blood is only part of the equation.]
Yeah? [He hears the pride and smiles. He gets it. Peter was the same way talking about Wanda before he met a version with unlimited power.] What's the Red King? You got royalty at home?
Dude, that is so weird. What's the point of wings if you can't use them? [Because that's the weird part. Clearly.]
no subject
[ Peter's comment about family is enough to put a grin on Yata's face, pleased and relieved. He hasn't met many people outside of HOMRA that really get how the whole 'found family' thing works. he's glad that Peter does. ]
Nah, the Kings aren't normal royalty. They've got power like Strains do, but they aren't born with it and they can only get certain kinds - but Kings are a lot stronger, and they can give totally normal people powers, too.
[ Yata's tone is enthusiastic, but enthusiasm that falters here and there as he speaks. He doesn't know much about Kings and Strains and the differences between them beyond the basics, after all. ]
no subject
So why call them kings? Is Anna a girl? Because wouldn't that be a Queen? [She sounds young. Peter can't imagine his little sister excepting a masculine sounding title without throwing a fit over wanting to be the princess.] Wait, give powers? Like make other people Strains?
no subject
Someone else in HOMRA said it was just sort of how they felt. Like, you'd meet them and just think they were gonna do something amazing on day.
[ 'Charisma' is the word Yata is looking for, though he seems satisfied with his more roundabout explanation. As for why a girl is also a 'King', Yata simply shrugs. He has no idea. ]
Yeah. That's what makes Kings so powerful.
[ As an example, Yata holds out his right hand. A small ball of fire puffs into life in his palm. ]
See?
no subject
[Says the mutant. His term's maybe a little too on the nose, but he can't imagine calling anyone royalty just for having stronger abilities.]
Can't say I've ever met anybody and thought that.
[A lie. He'd met four impressive people just before coming here, people he could tell were about to do something exciting.
But he couldn't focus on that whenever something exciting was happening right in front of him.]
Dude! You've been holding out! You should have started with showing that off.
no subject
Cool, right? I'm the strongest in my Clan aside from Anna and Kusanagi.
[ He's very obviously quite pleased with himself, but the mention of powers reminds him of a pretty important detail he's completely forgotten to ask about. ]
So what are your powers?
no subject
[This is close enough to mutant in Peter's eyes. It's almost like meeting one his own age.]
Dude, you don't have to be strong at it for me to be into this. You just made fire.
[And then Yata has to ask the golden question. Peter's already wide grin stretches. He takes a step back, holds out a finger in a gesture to wait and disappears. The air kicks up at the sudden movement of him leaving, but he's back within the second with one of the wall mounted direction signs they'd past on the way into the prison. He drops it on the counter.]
I'm fast.
no subject
Cool!
[ With the lack of focus his own little puff of fire flickers out, but he doesn't even notice. ]
How fast? I couldn't even see you!
no subject
How fast? Well how fast is a bullet? Because I'm way faster than a bullet. I've checked.
no subject
[ The compliment is more drawn out that it had been the first time and a million little questions immediately pop into Yata's head. ]
Can you always do that? Just right away, or do you need to build up momentum first?
no subject
[He cocks his head to the side, and with no warning he's across the room and back again.]
Right away. Momentum's got nothing on me. I'm pretty sure I break most rules on physics or whatever.
