"I feel liberated when I'm doing it, and I want other people to feel liberated through it."

The Ingress has pulled you in. Your body experiences several sensations at once: being pushed forward as if a hand is resting on your back, momentary and startling blindness, a gentle ringing in your head. You have difficulty discerning whether it is hot or cold, but where you have been prodded is noticeably warmer than the rest of you. Some may suffer from dizziness while others are perfectly fine. Once equilibrium has been reestablished, you will notice you are standing on a long platform and that the room is filled with a soft cerulean light. It's slightly humid and dark despite the glow around you, and nothing is familiar. Shortly after, you are led out and toward the medbay.

Inside this room, you are given a physical scan and offered a contract to sign that states you are now part of the crew of the Moira with a specific job. This process consists of a complete work-up of medical history and current health, and afterwards, you are given your MID, a device that is integrated into your hand with only the slightest pinch. From there, you are guided out of the medbay and to your living quarters.

With the combined efforts of the crew, the terror plaguing the ship has been successfully removed from the Moira. Yet, it doesn’t come without consequences. Aside from the overall state of those aboard the ship, the Moira itself has taken considerable damage across various sections. Overall functionality seems stable for now, but with necessary repairs to be made and few supplies to actually make them with, the Captains have set a course for any nearby planet with the hope of finding what they need. However, that is much closer than it appears. As new arrivals begin coming through the Ingress, a message is received by those in the Tower and broadcast to everyone:
Please be advised. Your vessel is now entering Restricted Space. As per penal code 65208-A, only authorized personnel are to be admitted beyond this point. If necessary, further assistance will be provided once docked.
As there is little choice, the Captains instruct Navigation to proceed with caution. All transporters will be required to assist in taking those who volunteer to the main hub.
WELCOME TO CORRECTIONAL FACILITY DEL PASCIA

Del Pascia is one of many facilities across the universe built to maintain and rehabilitate its inhabitants. With a combined populace of both prisoners and employed civilians, it functions as both prison and living quarters. The central section of Del Pascia is divided into multiple floors that branch out into subdivisions of the facility—clearly and precisely labeled. For those contracted to work in the prison, Del Pas Main is home. There are cafeterias, common areas for exercise and general downtime, divided residences, and work stations. Beyond this area, each remaining wing of Del Pascia separates into cell blocks A through F with similar facilities available to the inmates. Varying degrees of criminals are brought to Del Pascia, ranging from maximum security to juvenile offenders, and security differs depending on which block is visited.

Yet, there is something peculiar about this prison upon further investigation: there are no living persons within Del Pascia. The AI, which runs and oversees all of Del Pascia, has made arrangements with the Moira so that those who wish may board and take what is needed to begin repairs. This program, while generally polite in nature, goes simply by the name D-E-L.
ENJOY YOUR STAY ... IN PRISON
Those who choose to go to Del Pascia will find themselves greeted by D-E-L. It has already agreed to terms with the Captains, allowing crew to strip nonessential supplies that aren’t needed since the station’s crew and prisoners were relocated due to funding cuts. The only condition placed upon this agreement is that any crew wishing to explore must undergo a mandatory decontamination before proceeding through the rest of Del Pascia. This process takes only minutes and is guaranteed to cause no physical side effects. Following this simple procedure, exploration is open with only warnings to be careful about damaging key systems. It is important to note that there are various security cameras located throughout the correctional facility, and it is not uncommon for D-E-L to comment or show concern for those exploring parts of Del Pascia.
DEATH BECOMES YOU
There is salvage to be found in all parts of the facility, including the cell blocks and infirmaries of the prison wings. However, there is something odd about these sectors, a strange charge in the air that follows you as you search for anything useful to bring back to the Moira. Perhaps it is the eyes of D-E-L watching? But then, after an indiscernible amount of time, it's like a switch is flipped. Suddenly, you are wearing your sins where anyone but you can see. For however much death you have wrought or committed, there will be blood on your hands—perhaps even further than that. This bizarre occurrence will appear as an almost digital skin and will not vanish until outside the cell blocks. If exploring the infirmaries for supplies, any and all health stats throughout your life will be visible and easy to read by anyone who happens to take an interest.

For those who have killed once or twice, they might find a red stain on their hands, but the higher the kill count will result in larger proportions of blood covering their arms and, in extreme cases, perhaps their entire body. The blood will vanish once you have left the prison wing, though you may occasionally see a flicker of the image while anywhere on the station. The same goes for health stats viewed in infirmary sections of Del Pascia.
WHAT WAS THAT SOUND?
Del Pascia is a very large station and has been abandoned for quite some time. D-E-L will regretfully inform anyone who asks that some nonessential areas have fallen into disrepair. It will warn that exploring these areas can be risky as it has no knowledge of what damage these sections have taken. Regardless of that, if you venture in, you’ll find that these sections are in rather bad shape. Exposed wiring sparks in the walls, a great variety of broken tools are thrown about, and it seems that every camera has been purposely broken. Venturing in further will yield valuable components for salvage, and yet... as before, you suspect you aren’t alone. It isn’t often, but sometimes, you might hear a step falling moments after yours or a rattle coming from the vents. Every time you go to investigate... whatever made the noise is gone.

Should the AI be queried about this, D-E-L will emphasize that all personnel and prisoners were removed and that there is no one on board except crew from the Moira.

"Told ya," she says, walking up behind him. One hand is on her hip and is holding a cup obviously stolen from the cafe. She slowly sits down near him, legs crossed underneath her. She doesn't trust the water enough to trying dipping in. It's a little too much and she's a little afraid of falling in. "Bet ya this would do all the people in three for a month. Maybe longer."

She hands the cup over carefully, a little smile on her face. "I've been making the lady taste it first, make sure there ain't nothing wrong. It's chocolate. Sweeter than juice and it's real hot. Figured you'd like it." It's closer to lukewarm after she'd walked all this way, but she still looks pleased with herself. She edges in closer, until their elbows are touching. Her instinct is to stay all over him; the past month had been lonely even with the presence of so many people on the ship. The physical reminder that he's here is grounding. She knows being here is already hard on him, but she feels more peaceful than she has in weeks.

"What are ya thinkin'?"

Straightening up, he smiles at her and takes the cup, palms pressed to the warm cup. Cold desert nights have given him a real appreciation for warm food and sometimes just for fire-warmed rocks.

"Thinkin' how weird my toes feel." He wiggles them in the water and leans down to smell the drink. It smells amazing, like an old melted candy bar.

With a wicked glint in his eye, he looks at her and sticks his tongue out to dip it into the drink. He's entirely aware of his ridiculous he looks to anyone else who might notice them, but image is a small price to pay to get a good laugh out of her.

He pulls back quickly, eyes sliding back to the cup in his hands. "Okay, that's fuckin' good."

"Cause you're getting them all clean." She gives the water a distrustful look and clicks her tongue. "Gross. Next you'll be trying the showers."

She giggles at his antics, oblivious to anyone else who could be watching. If anyone were to profess some problem with how he acted with her, the girl would have a problem with them. This was a direly needed return to normalcy.

"Right? If they'd had any of the muffins, I'd brought you some of those. Can ya believe they're givin' out shit like that for free?"
goodluckkobra: (Way down)

Kobra shrugs. He can't remember the last time he bathed in any way and he's not so much opposed to the concept as he just doesn't see the point. If he smells fine enough and he's not sticky, what's a shower going to do?

"Nothing's free, but I'm not against liberating what we can and skipping out on the check when that comes due." This time, he allows himself a real sip of the drink. "Don't think it's drugged, at least."

She gives him a look that would almost be hurt if she wasn't in such a good mood. "I wouldn't give you something without testin' it first. Gimme some credit."

She's been careful with everything everyone's tried to give her. Their paranoia had rubbed off on her, for better or worse. Nothing was trustworthy, everyone had a motive. It was the only way she knew how to live.

"Some people have been talkin' about trying to take over. Steal the ship from the captains. Ain't skippin' out on the place, but it's something."
goodluckkobra: (Back home)

[personal profile] goodluckkobra 2016-04-05 07:10 am (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, it is." He takes another thoughtful sip. Revolution is his sort of language. Some kind of uprising could be good. Shake things up. Make sure the right people are calling the shots and that they're calling them for the right reasons.

"Tell me about these people. You think they're shiny?" It won't do them any good to throw in with the wrong people, but if they're the right people, Kobra's got a laser beam with their name on it.

"Yeah," she says after a moment, nodding gently. "They're shiny. My roommate, Leia. She knows what a crew means. Got her own boys to think about. One's here, calling himself Han Solo." She grins briefly over the name, still happy to finally hear something appropriately weird among the sea of Scotts and Allisons and city-sounding nonsense. "I think we can trust 'em. Even if they wear too much white."
goodluckkobra: (This night)

[personal profile] goodluckkobra 2016-04-06 08:10 am (UTC)(link)
"No accountin' for taste." But he files away the name Leia. Nice code names. That's what he assumes they are. "Whole place needs more color. We're gonna have to do somethin' 'bout that."

He'll try to get his hands on some paint or something. The least he can do is get his own stuff looking better and offer the same to others.

[personal profile] kidjoy 2016-04-07 07:01 am (UTC)(link)
"Mmmm. Ain't nobody here quite like home. Except one, maybe. He ain't very colorful either." She's already told Leia as much about her drab wear, trying to make the criticism gentle by offering to get her nicer colors. "They say they stop off at a lot of place. Maybe we can find some better stuff to trade for."

If they stuck around that long. She'd prefer getting out of dodge to sprucing up the ship and crew, if she was being honest. If she hadn't been forced to come back on, she would have stayed on Ceta.
goodluckkobra: (Way down)

[personal profile] goodluckkobra 2016-04-08 12:58 am (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, gonna have to scavenge when we can, 'cause I don't really have shit worth trading. Didn't even give me my fuckin' boots."

He rests the cup on the cement next to his hip and lies back until he's staring up at the ceiling with his feet still in the water. "Who's like home? Might've met someone myself."

[personal profile] kidjoy 2016-04-09 04:31 am (UTC)(link)
"I got my robot. Might be able to trade it for something." It's not something she wants to give up, but there are bigger things they need than her having something to play with. She knows that. Still, she bites her lip and sighs. She'll just have to show it off to the real robots before they hit the next planet they can trade at.

She doesn't join him in laying down yet, sitting up a little straighter now that she has the height advantage. "Says his name is Deacon and that he's from around home. But from the east coast. And he says out there, they're tellin' people how well its run out west. Tryin' to get people to come." She frowns. "I didn't even think there were people beyond the Zones."

She pokes at his stomach, eyebrows rising. "Who'd you meet?"
goodluckkobra: (And the collision of your kiss)

[personal profile] goodluckkobra 2016-04-10 05:38 am (UTC)(link)
He shakes his head quickly when she mentions her robot. They'll figure out something else. He doesn't want either of them giving up what little they've got from home. He'll steal or he'll work for something else.

"Her name's Cas. Not from our home, but close enough. Not much food. Sounds like where she's from is like the Zones."

Deacon isn't someone he's met yet, but he'll go on Kobra's list of people to check up on. "Know if there's really people outside the Zones, they're takin' their sweet ass time telling any of us."

It would be a lie to say she isn't relieved he's turning her down. Finding the toy sitting in her room had been the bright spot of the month prior, a piece of home and a token of better memories right when she was at the worst of her panic. The smile she shoots him is grateful.

"Cas," she repeats, thinking that it sounds familiar. The dark haired girl who'd offered her a weapon had a similar name, but similar hardly meant same around here. "I'll keep an eye out for her. Kinda nice to meet someone like a lady runner."

She snorts, flops down beside him. The girl frowns up at the ceiling, watching the funny way the lights play off the water. "Why would they? Just give people something else to hope for."

"Got plenty of hope long as we got each other." He means the Killjoys, but he also means the two of them. If he's still alive, that means the others could be, too. She'd seen him die, so maybe it doesn't matter that he'd seen Party die. That's gotta be all the hope they need. They could all still be alive somewhere.

"Just gotta tie it real tight to you so you can't lose it anywhere."

She smiles, nods. “Ain’t gonna loose that.” She holds out her pinky, as solemn as a promise as she knows to make. “I never did. Ya know? Even when I first got here. I knew I’d get to go back or one of you’d show up. Ain’t our way to stick it out alone.”

Even as upset as she’d been at home, she’d had that little piece of hope for them. The Witch let them go, change her mind. It didn’t seem possible for there to be a world without them for too long. She wasn’t ready to be alone. She wanted to believe in what she’d heard all her life, Killjoys didn’t die.

He wraps his pinky around hers and squeezes it. "Not losin' mine, either. Party'll be here soon enough."

It's hard to express why it's so important to him, but he really needs to believe it, even if he really did watch his brother die. Somewhere out there, Party's looking for them. The others, too.

Her smile turns tight. She hopes he's right. She wants all of them here, some place where their hearts still beat. She flips her hand around, holding to his instead.

"Being all fashionably late. All of 'em. Dicks." She mutters the word, no heat in her voice. "Gonna have words when some of 'em finally show up."
