"I feel liberated when I'm doing it, and I want other people to feel liberated through it."
☄ ENJOY YOUR STAY ... IN PRISON Those who choose to go to Del Pascia will find themselves greeted by D-E-L. It has already agreed to terms with the Captains, allowing crew to strip nonessential supplies that aren’t needed since the station’s crew and prisoners were relocated due to funding cuts. The only condition placed upon this agreement is that any crew wishing to explore must undergo a mandatory decontamination before proceeding through the rest of Del Pascia. This process takes only minutes and is guaranteed to cause no physical side effects. Following this simple procedure, exploration is open with only warnings to be careful about damaging key systems. It is important to note that there are various security cameras located throughout the correctional facility, and it is not uncommon for D-E-L to comment or show concern for those exploring parts of Del Pascia. ☄ DEATH BECOMES YOU There is salvage to be found in all parts of the facility, including the cell blocks and infirmaries of the prison wings. However, there is something odd about these sectors, a strange charge in the air that follows you as you search for anything useful to bring back to the Moira. Perhaps it is the eyes of D-E-L watching? But then, after an indiscernible amount of time, it's like a switch is flipped. Suddenly, you are wearing your sins where anyone but you can see. For however much death you have wrought or committed, there will be blood on your hands—perhaps even further than that. This bizarre occurrence will appear as an almost digital skin and will not vanish until outside the cell blocks. If exploring the infirmaries for supplies, any and all health stats throughout your life will be visible and easy to read by anyone who happens to take an interest. ☄ WHAT WAS THAT SOUND? Del Pascia is a very large station and has been abandoned for quite some time. D-E-L will regretfully inform anyone who asks that some nonessential areas have fallen into disrepair. It will warn that exploring these areas can be risky as it has no knowledge of what damage these sections have taken. Regardless of that, if you venture in, you’ll find that these sections are in rather bad shape. Exposed wiring sparks in the walls, a great variety of broken tools are thrown about, and it seems that every camera has been purposely broken. Venturing in further will yield valuable components for salvage, and yet... as before, you suspect you aren’t alone. It isn’t often, but sometimes, you might hear a step falling moments after yours or a rattle coming from the vents. Every time you go to investigate... whatever made the noise is gone. |
Rhiow | have a kitty yay
For a few days after the influx of new arrivals from the Ingress, the Medbay has a new inhabitant in the form of a small - though somewhat plump - black cat. Unfortunately, MIDs are generally designed for people with both human-sized limbs and fingers. It will take a little bit of modification to produce something for Rhiow that both fits and can actually be operated by a cat, and until she can put on her MID she's not allowed out into the rest of the ship.
So for now she lounges about the medbay, spending most of her time sleeping on the beds. She's also busy sharpening her claws on the bedding, shedding on things, grooming, and generally being a cat. Wizardly things can wait until she's no longer under quite so watchful an eye.
Come pet her. Or bring her tasty food.
B - Moira, Mero Deck (by room #17)
Rhiow pads down the hallway of Mero deck, ready to check out her assigned den - her thoughts drift to her real den and she hopes she can get back to when she was taken from her home universe and not just where. Poor Iaehh, how will he feel if she disappears for days, weeks, however long it takes to find a way back?.
When she reaches the door, she stares at the door lock several feet above her head. Honestly, ehhif never think of anyone shorter than them when they build these things, do they?
Her tail twitches as she considers the problem. The locking mechanism is too complicated for simple wizardry, and machinery and computers were never her specialty. The most dignified method would be to air walk up to it, but that's a rather excessive expenditure of energy for something as simple as opening a door. She could paw and meow, but that only works if someone is inside the room to hear her.
So, with a little huff, she crouches down, rear wiggling a little, then leaps up to slap a paw against the thumbprint reader.
D - Wildcard
Rhiow will be wandering
and sleepingall over the Moira and Del Pascia so feel free to bump into her! If you wanna plot, hit me up atB
"Don't tell me they're letting the unclaimed ones out of the garden again," he muttered, scooping the cat up in one talon, with ever intention of returning it to Clark or someone who worked down there.

She's distracted from the spelling when Starflight speaks, but that doesn't make her any more pleased about being picked up and she lets out a little distressed yowl.
"Excuse me," she shouts.

Ain't seen none of you outside that place with all the greens. Get tired of bein' cooped up and wanted to explore?
[She plops down in the floor next to the cat, holding a hand out for it to sniff. The cats in the gardens seemed to prefer introductions to be made by scent.]
I get that. But there ain't much to see down here, pretty thing.
no subject
It doesn't hurt to be kind to them still, especially one that's so polite.
Rhiow sniffs the offered fingers then rubs her face against them, letting out a comforting purr.
The Girl will likely notice that unlike the tiny bonsai cats, Rhiow sports a modified MID around her neck.]
I was getting tired of being cooped up in the medical room.

That's the reason he has fish in a small plate. He assumes it's fish, at least--space fish, but fish. It should be enough for cats. Especially cats who have decided to take up space in the medbay.
"Hey, buddy." He keeps his voice nice and light as he approaches the other, setting the tray close to the cat but not so close he invades the other's personal bubble. "Intergalactic tuna. Bon apatite, little guy."
He thought it was bad enough he's stuck here, but a cat?
no subject
Rhiow's already licking her chops the moment she smells it, and it's all she can do to pause to thank Foggy before digging it.
She walks over to give him a firm rub and purr before returning to dinner.
"You have excellent taste in meals."

They've started bringing pittins here?
[If someone had acquired one--outside the mess of them in the gardens--she has the feeling the rest of the ship might have heard about it. Pets don't exactly seem common aboard ship. Crouching down beside the creature, she speaks in a quiet voice.]
Would you like some help?

She speaks between licks.]
Yes, that would be very helpful thank you.

"Hey, easy there." She smiles down at the feline before taking a quick look around. Zatanna is willing to bet the best option here would be to give the cat something else to use, but there aren't exactly a lot of alternatives--at least not readily apparent ones.
"Well, hopefully this doesn't get me a lecture or anything." Not that Zatanna cares about getting into trouble; she just isn't in the mood to have someone talking to her about precious supplies being misused, never mind the fact that Zatanna's doing this to keep the damage to a minimum.
And since the sheet's likely a wash anyway, she doesn't really feel all that guilty about working a bit of magic on it. "Evig siht tac gnihtemos ot hctarcs!" The spell raises the sheet, then causes it to curl and fold in on itself as it takes on not just a new shape, but new properties too. Instead of soft linen it turns into rope, wraps around itself and forms a hard post, just missing the base.
"Okay, now do me a favor? And use this to sharpen your claws."
no subject
"There's nothing better to scratch," she says, her voice translating as the barest of whispers. She's used to talking to humans who can't understand her, and the regular tones of Ailurin are softer than most humans can here.
Then the ehhif says something that Rhiow can't translate - a rare occurrence for one who speaks the Speech, root of all language - and suddenly the sheet changes. The shock of it sets her fur standing on end.
That hadn't been Wizardry! At least not the sort she was familiar with, constructed of neat lines of Speech describing how you'd like the universe to be. But it has been similar, with words and intent and energy and the twisting of the fabric of the universe to suit the caster's will...
Could she be so far from her home universe that even the nature of Wizardry was different? The thought has her in a fit if composure grooming, resettling her raised fur.
“Dai stihó," she greets tentatively, wondering if this woman will recognize the typical greeting of one wizard to another.

Cats weren't a novelty on the ship by any stretch, especially in the gardens, where Meh Yewll grows her medicinal plants. That's where she normally saw cats. Before, on Earth, they were practically extinct. They had been taken out during the Pale Wars, one of the misfortunes of Earth's native species. On board she'd gotten used to them, at least in that one little place.
In Med Bay? Not so much.
Doc Yewll strolled up to the cats bed, crossing her arms as she looked down at the shedding. "Going to need to get a handvac, or see if any of those rolling vacuums survived. How're you doing down there?"
no subject
"If someone gave me a good brush I'd shed less," she says, part explanation, part suggestion. A good brushing is such a lovely feeling.
"I am starting to feel a bit cooped up." She's gotten used to having the reign of New York City and beyond.

Hello kitty. [His voice is soft, moving to pull himself up onto the bed to sit next to her before offering a hand to sniff. That was what you did with animals, right?] I dunno why I thought there wouldn't be any animals here, but it's kind of nice to find out I was wrong.

There's a pause in his steps and he comes to a stop, watching the feline for a long moment, wondering if it came through the Ingress somehow. So far, only...well, more sentient beings had been brought through--never any pets or animals of any kind as far as he's seen. Watching as the cat leaps up trying to unlock the door, however, he gets the idea that there might be a little more to this cat.
...Not that it stops him from using his cat mom voice.
"Hey there, kitty," he murmurs, not wanting to startle her as he approaches slowly, not wanting to scare her away. Once he reaches her general space, though he stays a small distance away just in case she doesn't want him that close, Wash crouches down and holds a hand out toward her for her to sniff--that was how you let a cat get to know you, he's always found. "What're you doing out here?"
no subject
Her tone is amused when she answers, "Hello, human."
She gives his fingers a polite sniff and two little rubs of her head, then turns back to the door. "I'm trying to get into my den, but these control weren't exactly designed with People in mind."

Cat status ascertained, he does what he thinks any self-respecting semi-mortal would do. He bends at the knees so he's closer to the floor, reaches out a hand and makes beckoning noises at the cat (the Ladsky equivalent of "here kitty-kitty"), being careful to look at the floor instead of at her. ]

Hi! [Sorry if the high-pitched, baby-talk voice bugs you, Rhiow. Will these head-scritches make up for it?]

But she has to admit, human-esque fingers were well-designed for providing good scratches. She purrs softly, well- used to the 'it's a kitty!' Voice often directed towards the People.]

B and hurray for kitty
Sam was actually not planning on staying long. Not here at least, but he was passing by the hallway and saw...well it looked like a cat jumping? So he stopped. He backed up a few steps. He looked down the hallway again and confirmed that was, indeed, a cat. So it followed that said cat could be jumping. Bemused at the entire idea, Sam turned so that he went down the hallway, instead.
"They should make you a little cat-door. One that locks from out here."
Smiling (and fully not expecting an answer) Sam crouched and offered the last bit of his sandwich.
no subject
"Is that ham? Oh, and cheese..." Offering enthusiastically accepted! Ehhif make such delicious things. Scarfing down the bit of sandwich, she finally answers, "A cat door here would be lovely."
She was used to being able to go in and out as she pleased back home.

So without so much as a hello, Kyoko flops on the bed next to the cat and stretches out.]
Yo. You don't mind sharing for awhile, right?
[Though her tone suggests that she won't be moving even if she does. She turns her head to look at her, considering for a moment. She'd never minded cats, not really--there were plenty of strays along her usual routes, and it wasn't uncommon for one to bum part of her meal off of her. She supposes she might as well show the same courtesy here, if only to minimize the amount of grumpy looks.]
Here, I'll even make it worth your while.
[She takes a bite out of the pork bun in her hand before sticking her fingers in it. Kyoko pinches a piece of pork between her fingers before holding it out in offering. It's fair now, right?]

Mero Deck!
Nap completed, or at least temporarily paused, Sans exits his brother's room with a stretch. His bones crack impressively in the process, letting his skull loll from one side to the other. It's on the 'other' that he freezes in place, squinting at the floor in front of #17.
This is the first time he's seen a cat not previously grown from a tree around here.
"Need some help?" He asks, testing for whether or not this cat was monstrous or just, well, a cat. "Or do mew got it covered?"
