His eyes scan their surroundings as he speaks. It's quiet so far, but he knows there are super mutant camps along the trail. With luck, though, he and the girl will be able to sneak past them.

She watches him look around, takes the time to gather her thoughts. "Did the old world really have all that much freedom?" She asks after several moments, biting her lip. Her admission comes quite. "No one ever talks about before the wars much. Think it makes 'em kind of sad or maybe everyone's startin' to forget."

That's the impression Deacon's got from the books he's read, at least. Hard to come by, half of them history, half of them propaganda, they've left him with an idealized view of the past.

Her view of history was terrible warped by having no real sense of it. She'd only gathered a little from listening to her crew talk, though they knew little of the world from before the bombs and from D, who was always so wrapped up in the wars that he rarely talked about the good. The praise the wasteland got for it's freedom made her think it was the only place to ever really have it.
