far from nowhere
"the trees rustle in the evening when we stand uneasy before our own thoughts."

With the events of Del Pascia behind the Moira, things are only now beginning to settle—and not very well. Through the combined efforts of some of the crew, D-E-L and her permanent residents were incinerated into the dust of space. While it’s not the most peaceful end, it is one, and not many are going to be thinking back on how nice Del Pascia’s facilities were for quite some time. Repairing what they could of the ship’s interior and putting as much distance between the Moira and the prison as possible, those aboard are informed by Navigation that they are approaching another planet. This means, of course, the potential for better supplies, as some things are beginning to dwindle, and the Captains elect to dock so long as the crew follows protocol.
WELCOME TO AMISSIS-RE

Amissis-Re is an unregistered planet with no documented histories or signs of life. The Moira’s Navigation crew have scanned the planet for any usable resources and have discovered a faint signal emitting from beneath the surface of Amissi-Re. Using the transporters and any other crafts located in the Cargo Bay, the crew are able to travel to the source of the signal. Upon arriving in its exact location, they’ll find a small series of lakes that lead to a tower-like structure that appears to be in use. Crew must cross a poorly assembled bridge system that sways and dips when weight is applied to it in order to gain access to the entrance. Once there, a woman comes out to greet them and explains, excitedly, that she is so very happy that they have come to Amissis-Re.

Everyone can go home.

Their host insists that she has done the impossible and has somewhat fixed the Ingress that’s been built on Amissis-Re a long time ago, and what’s more, she can send crew home for short bursts of time. Upon following this woman inside, crew will find that the planet is not, in fact, barren at all. Diving deep into the underbelly of Amissis-Re, it’s like an eternal factory of machines, and while vast, for whatever reason, it also seems incredibly welcoming...

LEAP OF FAITH ( 05.01 and on )
The barren planet of Amissis-Re is devoid of vegetation and organic life except for a lone woman, and the planet itself is an intricate honeycomb of machines that go for miles below the surface. Yet, that seems insignificant and unimportant in comparison to the news that the crew has just received. After Thán has looked at the Ingress, he tells the crew that he cannot say for certain that it is properly functioning, but Emiri native, Ben Link, will volunteer to test it out.

An elevator takes crew down to a glass platform that overlooks an inverted Ingress portal. In order to return home, the Moirans will have to take a leap of faith and jump in. Ben, in order to show his commitment to the crew and willingness to help get them home, takes that jump with Captain Thán seconds behind him. Jumping feels like dropping through wind; lights swirl, it’s warm, and a soft buzzing encompasses you as you fall. You don’t feel the landing. One moment you’re falling, and the next, you’re in a new world.

A few hours pass before a similar elevator rises from below and to the left of the Ingress, stopping beside the platform. Ben and Thán step out unharmed.

It works, and everyone can temporarily go home. Will you jump?

COMBINE THE EXTREMES ( 05.01 and on )
The woman that greeted the crew and led them to the platform will allow anyone that wants to go home the opportunity to go. There’s only one catch: it’s not permanent. She’s worked for years to fix the Ingress so that she can return to her own home but hasn’t been able to make the trip an everlasting one. Everyone always comes back. Always. They go for a few hours, at first, but that amount of time increases with each visit.

The one guideline, she says, is that you can’t go alone. Each trip requires a partner, or it becomes too much for the mind to bear. These rules are simple: the world takes shape depending on who jumps first, but if crew go hand-in-hand and leap at the same time, the worlds combine. This new world will be populated with people that existed in both and may appear to be a jarring combination of both worlds. It may seem unusual, but if the woman is asked, she’ll explain that the combined world does exist as there are more universes than can be imagined. The Ingress tries to take the person to their own home, their original home, but when jumping together, it finds the closest possible match and deposits them there instead.

From that point on, you can travel the world together or split up, but remember, this world is a living, functioning world. It doesn’t matter if it’s the home of one crew member or a combination. You meet other people. You can get hurt. You influence and are influenced by others.

Be cautious, and enjoy your visit “home”.

LINGER ON ( 05.05 and on )
The more times the Amissis-Re Ingress is visited, the more it seems that your trips last longer and the experience becomes even more vivid. More real and harder to distinguish from the current reality that you know. It’s difficult to explain why, but you get the feeling that maybe if you went without the aid of the host, that perhaps you’d be able to stay. Forever. It takes some subterfuge, but in time, you see your chance: she’s nowhere in sight, and you take it.

The world you are in now is completely your own, whether another crew member accompanied you or not. The people you know are there, everything around you is exactly as you remember. A few hours pass, and you don’t feel that familiar tug, that invisible hook at the base of your spine that signals that your visit is over. Even more time goes by, and you’re still in that world, your home. When the first day has passed, you begin to question if you’ll ever go back, or if life on the Moira was all a dream. The person with you won’t be able to convince you otherwise, and they’ll start to feel less real, a stranger that you used to know.

There’s only one way to go back to the Moira. Someone from the other side has to come in and retrieve you both. Once in, contact with a third will jump-start a link through the Ingress, and it will pull all crew back to the platform.

What do you wanna do, Loki? Find a way out or nick some treasure?

[Eggsy soaks up that small smile, enamored by it and the God standing beside him. He's never been to a place like this, the only thing outside of Earth being what he's come across while on the Moira.]

Somethin' else? I don't care, yeah?

[He doesn't understand, not really. All of this is new to him, and Eggsy doesn't know enough about Loki's past to know what this place means to him. He wants to, though.]

Wanna look around Asgardia some, if it ain't dangerous?

I want away from here.

[He says it softly, looking at the walls.]

There are things you still don't know about me. But I have betrayed people in my time. I've lied, and I've manipulated. And here- here is where it finally came back on me.

[He curls his fingers around Eggsy's wrist. He's almost always cool, inside and out, but he feels almost cold down here. Gently he tugs him towards one end of the hall, towards a door still stood ajar.]

I hope you're in shape. I came in this way, and I remember most of where the threats are, but there may still be some running involved.

Yeah, course. Then we're gone.

[Eggsy looks around, too, face scrunched up. He hates that this place is making Loki miserable and he wants to leave for that reason more than anything else.]

We ain't gotta talk about that right now.

[He lets himself be tugged towards the door for a few steps, body tense as he tries to sense whatever threats might be lurking nearby. Eggsy twists his hand around and slips his fingers into Loki's, stepping ahead to take the lead.]

I'm fit enough to run. Come on.

[He's used to Billy taking his hand that way, enough that it only takes a second for his hand to curl around Eggsy's. He stops by the door for a moment, the better to look at Eggsy from the corner of his eye.]

Remember not everything you see through this door is real. Oh, some of it is, but a good two thirds of it is illusionary. Follow my cues, as much as possible, and don't flinch. Acceptable?

[He smiles, slightly reckless, as if the danger through the door is not only expected but welcomed. Then again, perhaps it is. It's a danger he knows, and has dealt with before. And a little risk seems like a very good idea right now...]

[Eggsy prefers it like this. He's not afraid, there's worse things than the unknown out there, but he's got Loki's hand in his own and the God pressed up close. It's more than enough to keep him focused on getting them somewhere safe, even if he's not technically leading them.]

Tell me somethin' that'll be real then. Somethin' that I can concentrate on so I don't get lost.

[That smile makes him feel a little reckless, too, like something dangerous and exciting is going to happen. He leans in close, waits for Loki's answer, and tips in to press a rough and hurried kiss to his mouth. Eggsy grins, then slips through the door, their fingers twined and his eyes wide.]

You should always concentrate on me, of course.

[His smile widens, settles into something a little more focussed on the challenge ahead despite the distraction of the kiss. He sees the way Eggsy looks, though, files it in one of the many corners of his mind.]

More seriously- listen to me, and ignore the giant snake. It's only an illusion.

[He takes the lead, settling into a quick but easy pace, at least for him. He's built for speed, for running and dodging, all the things Asgard considers no bravery at all. And for thinking, which most of his thoughts are concentrated on now. Both remembering the traps, and analysing Eggsy's speed, working out when he needs to tell him to move to avoid the traps. First, the pit, hidden in the floor, if he remembers this rightly.]

Jump... now

[That smile reminds Eggsy just how much trouble Loki is, how much he could be, and how, knowing that, he still doesn't really want to be anywhere else right now, says a lot about him. He's a little bit concerned about how much that smile makes him feel, but it's nothing that needs thought about right now.

Giant snake. Okay.]

Got it.

[Hearing that didn't really prepare him for much, but he curls his fingers tightly around Loki's hand, and runs. He's fast, not as fast as Loki, but he keeps up as much as he can. When he's told to jump, there's no hesitation, no lingering doubt, he just jumps over the pit, landing with a huff on the other side.]

You're fuckin' quick.
realitywarped: (Neutral - Pensive)

[personal profile] realitywarped 2016-06-03 10:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Mmm. It was made very clear to me at a very early age- duck, by the way- I'd never be as strong as my brother. People used to go to great pains to remind me of it.

[It's easier to talk about his past like this, distracted as he is by remembering every hidden trapfalls, every invisible pendulum that might give Loki a headache and probably be rather worse for Eggsy.]

And of course, the endless games of "chase Loki down and pay him back for all the things the Loki before him did". You have to be fast and smart, when you're fleeing adults.

[Which hadn't really been him. It had been the Loki-who-was, his dead and gone child self- although Loki had been on his shoulder, metaphorically.]

Don't need to be as strong as your brother. You're quick and those people shouldn't have talked to you like that.

[If he wasn't a mess of adrenaline he would be even more indignant of how people had treated Loki and he ducks when told, not letting go of Loki's hand. It's not because he's afraid but because he doesn't want to get lost here.]

Fuck 'em. Honestly, nobody has the right to treat anyone else like shit, yeah?

Is this where you were before you went to the place where you met Billy?
realitywarped: (Neutral - Side Eye)

[personal profile] realitywarped 2016-06-08 01:50 am (UTC)(link)
They didn't have to talk to me. About me, mostly. But I always was small and sneaky and very capable of being in all the wrong places.

[Sly, they'd called him. No true god of Asgard, no true son of Odin- and he'd listened and slipped around in the shadows and heard them. And he'd made himself exactly that. God of mischief, where Asgard would be solemn and honest. God of secrets and lies- and eventually, god of evil. Nothing Asgardian at all.]

No, this was between. I met Billy in New York, the first time, and then- I caused him rather a lot of fuss, before we parted ways. I came back here, to work for my- the All-Mother for a while. And then I was dragged off to hell, and Billy came shortly after.

[He tugs Eggsy to the side, avoiding some kind of ghostly box hanging in midair. All too real, that one, and unpleasant besides.]
