"the trees rustle in the evening when we stand uneasy before our own thoughts."

It's one of those things Trish tries not to think about much, what it would be like to have a relationship with Bruce on Earth, because chances are she'll never know.
Now at least she's getting a taste of it. It would be easy to sink into sadness at such thoughts, but Trish pushes it aside. This is an opportunity to experience something wonderful together, she's not going to let thoughts of an uncertain future spoil that.
no subject
Not that he thinks about that much these days, and right now he really is focused on enjoying what he has with Trish. Regardless of it being something that inevitably will end; but then again, everything does.
"It's kind of weird, isn't it? We were in another universe just moments ago."
That part's more whispered than anything, even though they're the only ones on that balcony so far, and the waiters are French. Still wouldn't want risking anyone hearing him and thinking they're completely crazy.
"But this is nice. It's been a while since I've been here."
no subject
It's terribly naive, of course, but if it's a delusion it's one she's going to stick with.
"It's been a while for me too."
She slides her foot a bit further up his leg, just to see what sort of reaction she'll get.
no subject
"You know... I'm starting to wonder if you can go a day without trying to jump me."
Said lightly, though he doesn't draw away, nor does he make any attempt to stop her.
"I mean, not that I'm complaining, but..."
no subject
"Oh, I could. I just don't want to. Don't worry, I'm sure I'll get sick of it eventually."
no subject
"Eventually," he repeats, skeptical, staying still as her foot keeps sliding up his leg. "I find that unlikely."
no subject
"Is that a bad thing?"
Yep, her foot is definitely sliding along his thigh now.
no subject
"No," his words catch in his throat when her foot traces along his inner thigh, but he doesn't pull away, his knees shifting apart just a hint instead. "No, it's not a bad thing at all."
no subject
She wouldn't really mind if some of that frustration did spill over, but that is something they're just going to have to take really slowly, and she knows that.
Her foot stills before reaching his groin, however, and her expression shifts from teasing to sincere.
"I can dial it back. In general, I mean."
Not just on this particular date.
no subject
Which is fine, really. He'd just like to be able to pick up to her pace, instead of forcing her to slow down to his.
"I know you can. But I don't want you to."
He holds his hands out towards her, beckoning her to give him one of hers.
no subject
"Just making sure."
She doesn't mind waiting, as he knows she is a thoroughly satisfied woman, and even if that too would have been something they had to be cautious about, it would still be more than worth it to her.
no subject
"No need to always make sure. I'm comfortable with you, Trish. If you ever do something that I don't like or feel like I can't handle, I'll just tell you."
no subject
"Sorry, I'll try to... Be a bit more chill."
no subject
"Keyword being 'try'?"
no subject
She fusses over the people she loves, it's just who she is, whilst at the same time being hilariously unwilling to be fussed over in return.
no subject
"That's good enough for me."
no subject
The joys of dating a control freak.
"You..."
She swallows, a little uncomfortable with the vulnerable feeling that comes with opening up, much as she often tries to get others to do just that.
"You make me so damn happy."
She wants to make sure she gives him that too.
no subject
Bruce likes that, actually. Because one can't know something good if they don't experience something bad. Granted, he would've gladly gone without some of the truly horrible things he's lived through, both home and on the Moira, but anyway.
He smiles at her words, head dropping a little, his fingers still playing with hers, tips tracing along the webbing between them.
"You make me very happy too."
no subject
Will she ever not feel like she's melting a little when he gets all shy like that? Probably not.
"You're gonna have to live with the fact that I am just never going to be as zen as you are about things."
no subject
"And you'll have to live with the fact that I'm going to keep trying to get you to be."
Pursing his lips, he shrugs, threading their fingers together.
no subject
"I don't know how I'll be able to cope but... I guess I'll have to try."
no subject
Around that time the waiter comes with their food and drinks, so Bruce draws his hand away reluctantly, leaning back to give him room to set down the plates and glasses, and thanking him as he leaves them to their dinner.
"Bon appétit?"
no subject
Trish takes a first bite, and lets out a pleased little groan.
"Okay, I'm pretty sure this food is illegal."
It's far too good to be anything else.
no subject
"Well, we won't be here permanently so I think we'll be fine if we break a law or two."
no subject
Luckily for everyone involved, her self-control isn't actually that bad.
