Re: C
Kaworu... has no idea where this is.
He has no idea what this is, in fact.
He's never seen this before in his life. Tokyo-3 isn't old enough for plant life to grow over it like this. Even its wreckage is made of concrete, steel, and glass.
...nor is its air filled with miniscule glowing globs of light.
At first, Kaworu wonders if they might be some kind of debris. But no--they move as waves on a shore, drifting not with the wind but on their own paths and patterns. They're not insects, either.
An Angel?
But there should not be an Angel... and he feels nothing. No AT Field. No presence at all. Like an inanimate object.
...how.... weird.
He reaches out slowly with one hand, extending a finger to gently poke one.]
no subject
Which also doesn't do much to answer the question of whether Kaworu knows what's going on here, which Ginko had sort of hoped he did.
...And then he goes and tries to poke a mushi why is this happening. Ginko makes a startled sound in the back of his throat and all but swats Kaworu's hand away.]
Don't!
no subject
Because he doesn't look even a little bit alarmed--just perplexed and not a little curious.]
What is it?
[He's asking what the glowing thing is, by the way--not what Ginko's problem is. Although he kind of figures one will explain the other.]
no subject
[With the danger no longer quite so imminent, Ginko retreats back to his usual closed-off body language, fingers tugging at one sleeve.]
If you touch it, it might make you sick.
no subject
....]
Sick?
[Kaworu's never been sick a day in his admittedly limited life. But there's a reason for that. His body isn't really human, though it possesses human DNA. He's human 'enough'--molecular nature aside, he's very, very near to it. All Angels are, really. But not enough to be home to anything that might want a human body as a host.
What he's really interested in is Ginko's reaction, though.]
...you are so afraid of that possibility that you would strike me with your hand.
[This same child who could not press a single key on a piano without words of reassurance and encouragement.]
Yet now... you seem unafraid. That's very strange.
Why is that?
no subject
[He doesn't actually seem mad, which Ginko is certainly glad for, but...
He gives a very small shrug, opting to stare at a small cluster of mushi nearby rather than look at Kaworu.]
Because you didn't touch it... and you shouldn't touch any of them.
[Those mushi are getting closer. He frowns, a tiny, nigh-imperceptible shift in his expression, and moves slightly closer to Kaworu again.]
Really - don't touch them, okay?
My name is Karl and THIS IS JACKASS
But now that you've warned me, whatever I do next is my own responsibility, is it not?
[That's how free will works, after all.
And with that, he turns his attention back to the luminescent 'mushi' and reaches out to close his hand around it, grabbing it out of the air.]
ffs karl
He takes a quick step forward, his hands curled into tight fists and clutching at his shirt.]
D-Don't! Don't do that!
Free will, bitches!!
He already did.
He regards his closed fist for a moment, the mushi held tightly in his hand.
Now... what should he do with it?
To be honest, he has no idea. The entire point of catching it like this was to see if it was substantial enough to be caught. Obviously, it is.
With that established....
He opens his hand again, releasing its glowing prisoner into the air once more.]
no subject
Why... why'd you do that?!
no subject
The same reason he talks to you, Ginko.]
It doesn't look very substantial, but you can hold it in your hand.
[He beams, clearly delighted to be able to announce this discovery.
He's still watching the mushi, too.]
no subject
[Even now, he looks like he's on the verge of panicking. How does he know Kaworu isn't going to grab another one? What if he's already contracted something?!]
no subject
Are you still upset about that?
I can't get sick.
no subject
[He grits his teeth, balling up his hands against his shirt again.] Just-- just don't touch them anymore, okay?
no subject
Anyway, it's too late now. And Ginko's instructions are impossible. There's too many of these little lights to not touch any of them. If he so much as walks forward, he's gonna walk into one whether he wants to or not.
Kaworu frowns.]
I can't. There's too many for that.
[Well, he can. It's just more trouble than he feels like going to.
But it's a sign of how far he's come that he doesn't ask why Ginko cares if he gets sick.
Selfish fear.
Again.
He sighs.]
Fine.
[There's a faint distortion to the air around them, a temporary shimmer of iridescent nothing--]
Now they can't touch me.
[Being able to use his AT Field whenever he wants is definitely convenient.]
no subject
--What's that?
no subject
Kaworu makes a mental note to explain this right when he uses it next time, since that is apparently just going to be necessary.]
Your kind refer to it as the 'AT Field.'
An impenetrable barrier of the soul. They cannot pass through it.
[It is, perhaps, the most straightforward explanation he's ever managed on anything.
The version of this that Frisk got was borderline incomprehensible.]
no subject
[Well, he may not totally get it, but he's not so confused that he can't accept that for now.]
If... if you're sure.
[He edges a bit closer to Kaworu.]
no subject
Are you serious?
Kaworu looks back at him with a smile--or is it a questioning smirk?]
Aren't you the one who wanted me not to touch them?
no subject
[There miiight have been a faintly passive-aggressive note in there.]
no subject
What more do you want from him?]
Well, if you're done being upset about their presence, we can probably move on.
[You know, to 'where are we' and 'is there anything interesting here besides these so-called mushi?']
no subject
...Okay. Yeah.
[He looks around again with a frown, biting his lip.]
Do you know... where this is? There are a lot of... buildings.
[He guesses those are probably buildings. He's never been in any remotely urban area before, so... skyscrapers are kind of new.]
no subject
Kaworu hesitates, visibly confused--or at least conflicted.
He knows these buildings, or buildings like them. But...]
...I'm... not sure.
I've never seen so much green.
[Not in the ruins of old Tokyo, anyway. Or the ruined parts of Tokyo-3.
Or... no, honestly, this much green is new to him anywhere. Kaworu didn't exactly get out much.
But with that said, he decides to start walking--he's not going anywhere in particular, really, just towards the nearest building. A squared-off brick structure clustered amidst some pines, with a massive tree growing out of it.]
no subject
He examines the building with a frown, tilting his head.]
...What's that?
