far from nowhere
"the trees rustle in the evening when we stand uneasy before our own thoughts."

With the events of Del Pascia behind the Moira, things are only now beginning to settle—and not very well. Through the combined efforts of some of the crew, D-E-L and her permanent residents were incinerated into the dust of space. While it’s not the most peaceful end, it is one, and not many are going to be thinking back on how nice Del Pascia’s facilities were for quite some time. Repairing what they could of the ship’s interior and putting as much distance between the Moira and the prison as possible, those aboard are informed by Navigation that they are approaching another planet. This means, of course, the potential for better supplies, as some things are beginning to dwindle, and the Captains elect to dock so long as the crew follows protocol.
WELCOME TO AMISSIS-RE

Amissis-Re is an unregistered planet with no documented histories or signs of life. The Moira’s Navigation crew have scanned the planet for any usable resources and have discovered a faint signal emitting from beneath the surface of Amissi-Re. Using the transporters and any other crafts located in the Cargo Bay, the crew are able to travel to the source of the signal. Upon arriving in its exact location, they’ll find a small series of lakes that lead to a tower-like structure that appears to be in use. Crew must cross a poorly assembled bridge system that sways and dips when weight is applied to it in order to gain access to the entrance. Once there, a woman comes out to greet them and explains, excitedly, that she is so very happy that they have come to Amissis-Re.

Everyone can go home.

Their host insists that she has done the impossible and has somewhat fixed the Ingress that’s been built on Amissis-Re a long time ago, and what’s more, she can send crew home for short bursts of time. Upon following this woman inside, crew will find that the planet is not, in fact, barren at all. Diving deep into the underbelly of Amissis-Re, it’s like an eternal factory of machines, and while vast, for whatever reason, it also seems incredibly welcoming...

LEAP OF FAITH ( 05.01 and on )
The barren planet of Amissis-Re is devoid of vegetation and organic life except for a lone woman, and the planet itself is an intricate honeycomb of machines that go for miles below the surface. Yet, that seems insignificant and unimportant in comparison to the news that the crew has just received. After Thán has looked at the Ingress, he tells the crew that he cannot say for certain that it is properly functioning, but Emiri native, Ben Link, will volunteer to test it out.

An elevator takes crew down to a glass platform that overlooks an inverted Ingress portal. In order to return home, the Moirans will have to take a leap of faith and jump in. Ben, in order to show his commitment to the crew and willingness to help get them home, takes that jump with Captain Thán seconds behind him. Jumping feels like dropping through wind; lights swirl, it’s warm, and a soft buzzing encompasses you as you fall. You don’t feel the landing. One moment you’re falling, and the next, you’re in a new world.

A few hours pass before a similar elevator rises from below and to the left of the Ingress, stopping beside the platform. Ben and Thán step out unharmed.

It works, and everyone can temporarily go home. Will you jump?

COMBINE THE EXTREMES ( 05.01 and on )
The woman that greeted the crew and led them to the platform will allow anyone that wants to go home the opportunity to go. There’s only one catch: it’s not permanent. She’s worked for years to fix the Ingress so that she can return to her own home but hasn’t been able to make the trip an everlasting one. Everyone always comes back. Always. They go for a few hours, at first, but that amount of time increases with each visit.

The one guideline, she says, is that you can’t go alone. Each trip requires a partner, or it becomes too much for the mind to bear. These rules are simple: the world takes shape depending on who jumps first, but if crew go hand-in-hand and leap at the same time, the worlds combine. This new world will be populated with people that existed in both and may appear to be a jarring combination of both worlds. It may seem unusual, but if the woman is asked, she’ll explain that the combined world does exist as there are more universes than can be imagined. The Ingress tries to take the person to their own home, their original home, but when jumping together, it finds the closest possible match and deposits them there instead.

From that point on, you can travel the world together or split up, but remember, this world is a living, functioning world. It doesn’t matter if it’s the home of one crew member or a combination. You meet other people. You can get hurt. You influence and are influenced by others.

Be cautious, and enjoy your visit “home”.

LINGER ON ( 05.05 and on )
The more times the Amissis-Re Ingress is visited, the more it seems that your trips last longer and the experience becomes even more vivid. More real and harder to distinguish from the current reality that you know. It’s difficult to explain why, but you get the feeling that maybe if you went without the aid of the host, that perhaps you’d be able to stay. Forever. It takes some subterfuge, but in time, you see your chance: she’s nowhere in sight, and you take it.

The world you are in now is completely your own, whether another crew member accompanied you or not. The people you know are there, everything around you is exactly as you remember. A few hours pass, and you don’t feel that familiar tug, that invisible hook at the base of your spine that signals that your visit is over. Even more time goes by, and you’re still in that world, your home. When the first day has passed, you begin to question if you’ll ever go back, or if life on the Moira was all a dream. The person with you won’t be able to convince you otherwise, and they’ll start to feel less real, a stranger that you used to know.

There’s only one way to go back to the Moira. Someone from the other side has to come in and retrieve you both. Once in, contact with a third will jump-start a link through the Ingress, and it will pull all crew back to the platform.

[If this planet has weapon restrictions, they’re both in trouble -- Zam’s own blaster hangs by her side, though it’s currently set to stun as well.

Bel’s comment about the sun gets a surprised look from Zam, though she takes it in stride.]
Alright. [She looks around, looking for a stretch with more consistent shade.] If we stick close to the canyon wall, we should be fine. Might have to move through a few sunny patches to get there though.[She says “we” even though she knows perfectly well the sunlight has very little chance of doing any significant harm to her. Bel, well… Bel’s a human. And humans are even more delicate than Zolanders when it comes to solar radiation.]

You said we’d be underground if this were Beta. Is there something wrong with the sunlight there? [Asked less out of genuine curiosity and more to establish a justification for her own concern that does not involve pre-held knowledge of this planet that she is definitely not at all familiar with.]

[Well, you could have said that.

Anyway, it's too late now. And Ginko's instructions are impossible. There's too many of these little lights to not touch any of them. If he so much as walks forward, he's gonna walk into one whether he wants to or not.

Kaworu frowns.
]

I can't. There's too many for that.

[Well, he can. It's just more trouble than he feels like going to.

But it's a sign of how far he's come that he doesn't ask why Ginko cares if he gets sick.

Selfish fear.

Again.

He sighs.
]

Fine.

[There's a faint distortion to the air around them, a temporary shimmer of iridescent nothing--]

Now they can't touch me.

[Being able to use his AT Field whenever he wants is definitely convenient.]

[Whatever happens, Frisk... that will be his wish.]

....we'll see.

[But.

He looks back at the smaller child next to him, his smile shrinking down to a ghost of itself--then dissipating entirely into a rare, businesslike seriousness.
]

For now, we need to hide you.

[Sorry, not sorry. But where he's going... you cannot follow.]

We've been here too long as it is. It's only because this room's contents are secret that we've gone undisturbed.

[A small smile flickers across Frisk's features, and they scrub away the last of their tears. The warning, though, tugs their mouth back into a frown.]

Okay.

[Frisk is a little disappointed that they won't be able to accompany Kaworu, but...well, maybe they can find a way to sneak out of this lab and join him on the surface. They'll have to be careful, though.]

Do you know a good place I can stay?

Hopefully.

[She's experienced some various results of this portal hopping, but figures that it's worth a shot to try and get back home. She still needs to try and leave a message for her group, but hasn't quite ended up in a place where there's the opportunity for her to do so. Maybe this time will be different though, she hopes, and she pulls away from Tailgate so she can move through the ingress first.

She ends up on the other side in the middle of what was once probably a bustling city. She glances around at all the broken down buildings and the destruction, and turns just in time to see a hoard of zombies dressed up as various forms of Abraham Lincoln coming in close.
]

What in the hell...?

[Utterly perplexed by the fact that there's so many presidential zombies, including one that's dressed up as a penny, she looks around. Her eyes fall on a nearby school bus with a hand drawn banner on it that reads Abraham Lincoln Look alike Contest. Figuring that explains it, she just shrugs.

She's really not too worried about Tailgate being here. He can't exactly be bitten and turned, and he's likely large enough to just punt any z's away from them.

You're from an ice planet? [Luke asks while turning toward the requisition locker. He pulls out a coat and a hat, throwing them on quickly.]

If you want to see snow, you should go outside. I'll take you- [Luke says with a bit of a grunt while pulling on a pair of snow pants-] if you want. You'll like the snow trenches.

[That's a surefire way to get her to move back into the room, so she can head over toward the door that must lead to the bathroom. It's been so long since she's had fruity shower things or any kind of luxurious cosmetic item. So once she's in the bathroom she takes everything she can stuff into the bag. It's probably rude to pick someone's bathroom through and take everything, but if the girl's a serial killer and should be in jail, she doesn't deserve to have anything nice.

When she leaves the bathroom, she flashes him a bright smile and holds up her very full bag for him to see.

I ain't either.

[Eggsy wasn't an idiot but how alternate universes or worlds or timelines could all possible exist and function together was beyond him.]

Probably not. Kingsman works separately from other British intelligence agencies, but we won't be here long enough to tell them anything, yeah?

[He goes back to his bags, and then goes to stand by the tablets and phones. Eggsy isn't sure that it's necessary to take them, but he'd hate to go back without something someone can use. He takes a few, shrugging as he turns back around.]

Most of 'em are normal. Those, though. [He points a little higher on the shelf.] Those TT-30 pistols have an underbarrel shotgun attachment on them. They're good for when you can only take one weapon when you actually need to take two. Also a lot more compact.

I want to, if you'll let me.

[He grabs at her hand, trying to impart some comfort. He can understand her fear. It's a strange situation all around, but he thinks it might be worth the initial awkwardness to give her back something like what she once had.]

Our baby sister is going to go nuts over you. She's probably going to make you wear her crown and try to braid your hair and adore the fact there's a girl in the house that actually pays attention to her. Mom might take some convincing, but she's our mom. If she wouldn't turn me away for all the shit I've caused, she won't turn you away either. Hell, she'll be thrilled that some version of her kid actually turned out responsible. The other Wanda will be the hardest to convince, but I know how to talk to her. She'll be asking for make-up tips in no time.

They're going to love you. I know that because I do and I know them. Trust me.

Yeah, I know a place.

[Eggsy shuffles to the side a little, leading her towards a pub. He hadn't gone there often when he'd been here, it'd been a bit above his pay-grade back then, but it was nice and clean and there wouldn't be anyone there to cause them trouble.]

How long's it been? A couple years or something?

That's totally a baby.

[He had a hand in raising her. To Peter she was always going to be the baby.]

True. Not like she's not used to me bringing her sweets anyway.

[He grins, taking the slightly skeptical look in stride.]

It means you try to stay still and keep from getting sick. I hold your neck to prevent whiplash and kind of carry you there. Won't take but a few seconds, but from what I'm told it kind of takes longer for your stomach to settle after.

[The only 'good' place for Frisk is 'not here.'

SEELE didn't design their inner sanctum thoughtlessly. It's a place full of secrets--its very location is secret, in fact--but not the kind that will hide a small human.

If he didn't already know that this room would see further use before the final writ of SEELE's prophecies, he'd leave Frisk here--where the only people likely to enter were the old men themselves and a couple of other specially privileged individuals.

But even that didn't matter. He could feel that they were likely already too late. He would have to take his chances.

He studies the single door in and out of the room wordlessly for a short moment. Then he gives Frisk a short look.
]

Go to the other side of the pillar and make yourself as small as you can. Be prepared to run.

[And so saying, he walks to the door.

Where they're already waiting.

[Frisk's throat closes with nerves, but they don't need to speak. All they do is nod and go running around to the other side of that enormous tube. Crouching as low as they can, hands braced and legs curled up ready to launch them away, Frisk listens carefully for whatever might happen next.]

[They can do this. They can. Stay determined.]

You know everyone keeps mentioning this internet thing.

[He disappears, reappears at her other side with a newspaper. It's 26th of January, 1973, the front page is all about the upcoming peace accords and the last days of the Vietnam War. He stares at her forehead as he hands it over.]

Let's pretend I know what you're talking about. Why is it an issue you have it?

Hehe! C'mon, then!

[Frisk jumps off eagerly, but when the pair of them emerge on the other side of the Ingress it's...not in a terribly friendly place. They're in a dark room, with tiled floors and refrigerators lined up against a wall, with one conspicuously missing at the end if you pay attention to the spacing. On the wall behind those, digital panels are lit up with what appear to be notes.]

[It's rather cold.]

[Frisk looks around with a concerned frown.]

...why're we here?

[Frisk trusts him.

It's a strange thing to happen. He never specifically wanted it to, but... it has now become obvious that this is the case.

He has no time to ruminate on that development, though.
]

...

[He opens the door.]

--ah. Hello.

[It is convenient for him that he smiles so easily. The six armed men and women on the other side of the door regard him with neither patience nor affection.]

"Tabris. Your access of this chamber was unordered and unauthorised. We are here to escort you to a council provisional children's session. Account for your business."

[So that's how this will go.

SEELE does not move slowly.

There was almost certainly an order to investigate his activity as soon as he requested and received entrance to this room. Already two of the personnel are moving to pass him on either side, as soon as he steps out of the doorway.

Is it to perform escort? Or to sweep the room's interior?

They have no way of knowing the significance of the room or its secrets... but he should stop this before it progresses further.

For many reasons.
]

No business. But this room's contents are confidential, permitted only to authorised entrants.

I will accept your escort, so please step back from the doorway.

[Oh, crap. That's a lot faster than they expected this to go.]

[Frisk frowns and shrinks down a little lower, trying to stay as quiet as possible, barely even breathing. Tabris? Is that what they call him here? Or is that what Kaworu 'is'?]

[Either way, Kaworu is pretty clearly already in trouble, and it makes guilt curl up in Frisk's gut. Why did the Ingress have to take them both here?]

Murmuring the words under her breath, seeing how they fit around her tongue, she turned just in time to see the gesture, and her laugh a moment later was more at the thought of she herself trying to make that motion than at Niko's yell.

"So, I can talk shop in English, then yell at people in Serbian. Got it." She grinned as she remembered something. "You'll have to tell me the one about making shoes again." The insult he told her a very, very long time ago that she had long forgotten the real gist of.

There was something intimidating about this city, she realised as she walked. She hadn't been in many cities, it was true, but they hadn't felt quite like this. The sun beating down and bleaching everything with light, the swarms of nigh-hostile people, the vehicles beeping and screeching in messy lines up and down the street - it combined in a way that left her feeling a little uneasy to be there.

"A sniper scope?" She looked up at Niko over the rim of the sunglasses - which at least stopped her eyes stinging and watering in the bright light. "Resourceful. I like it." And was glad for the opportunity; Niko deserved to see at least one family member again, even if talking wasn't possible, not in the time they had.

"So... A weapons store...?" She looked around as if expecting something to jump out at her. Weapons were so common and so easy for people like her to just get a hold of back home that the idea of there being any trouble getting a scope didn't even occur to her.

[Not as much trouble as Frisk thinks, really. This is pretty standard activity for unexpected actions on his part--and the room he introduced them to, while he did not say as much to them, has an integral role in the coming final days.

Days which are, by his presence, fast upon them.

So his escort gives him space to pass, and he walks into their midst, all but a tiny segment of him totally relaxed--his hands are in his pockets, his smile calm--but the two who had meant to enter the room push past him, followed by a third, and he knows his game is already up.

Oh well.

He watches, silent, as the first two circle around the central pillar, the third stationing herself just inside, weapon raised and ready.

Unnecessary dramatics any time but this one.

His expression hardens a little, mouth tightening into a line of disappointment--or at least displeasure.

Well--

[Frisk can hear the guard's footsteps, and they grit their teeth in mingled frustration and fear. Why do they have to check?! Did they already know Frisk is here? Too late to wonder; Frisk only has one shot at this.]

[Their muscles tense, and they takes several slow, deep breaths to try and get their racing heart under control. Three seconds until the guards will see them. Two...one...]

[Just barely before they come into view Frisk springs into action, leaping up and darting around the cylinder with as much speed and agility they can muster. And for what it's worth it's impressive, and Frisk can only hope that the shock of their appearance will buy them enough time to get past the rest and out down the hall.]

[Almost there--]

"A child--?!"

[One of them is startled enough to flinch. One of three. The other two, though--

Two shots ring out, simultaneously. One narrowly misses Frisk, whipping through their hair at the back of their head as they dash for the door.

The other, however--the one fired by the woman right behind them--strikes the running child directly in the back, penetrating flesh and sweater to pierce right through one of Frisk's lungs... and out the other side.

In the doorway, Kaworu watches, silent. Unreactive. He makes no move to stop anyone, nor flinches when he sees Frisk go down. His hands are still in his pockets, his expression unchanged.

[Frisk learns several things in the span of a very short period of time.]

[The first is that guns are very, very loud, especially in an enclosed room.]

[The second is that guns are much, much faster than monster bullets.]

[The third is that being shot hurts.]

[The bullet tears through Frisk's chest and they shout in shock and pain, stumbling and falling to the floor as their brain tries to process it. Blood is pooling on the floor and filling their lungs, and Frisk can't even begin to try breathing. Can't move their body.]

[Their SOUL is trembling, cracking. They can't let it rise out, not here, they can't try to RESET...but Frisk doesn't want to die. They can't die, they can't, they won't, they won't, they won't they won't they won't they won't--!]

Billy... this is not your home. You belong somewhere far better than here, trust me.

[Loki's not entirely convinced he belongs anywhere better, but he'd rather not mention that. Billy gets a little annoyed by the suggestion, usually.]

Don't let go of my hand, then, if you can help it. Although, perhaps-

[He considers it for a moment, before letting go of Billy's hands despite what he just said. Gently, he tugs Billy's hand up, drawing a loop around the wrist with his finger, leaving a green band of energy. Repeating the action on his own wrist gives him another, and then he draws a thread between them, a thin green strand of light.]

Mazes and string isn't terribly original, but at least if we do let go, you should be able to find me again.

[It's more for Billy's peace of mind than because he thinks it will be useful if they do end up apart, but- trickery is what he has, mostly. He smiles, taking Billy's hand again, picking a direction to walk at random. As long as they follow a wall, they should hopefully find an exit... hopefully.]

[He can't help smiling at that, crookedly. Is he the teenager his physical form suggests, or is he far older- or, perhaps, far younger? It's definitely a question he's still never quite answered to his own satisfaction yet.]

That depends on several things. What age I am, whose standards you're judging by, and of course, whether anyone truly cares. I certainly don't.

[And rules were meant to be broken, especially ones with so few consequences.

Without really turning, he studies the person next to him from the corner of his eye, not that it takes much looking to identify one of the two actual skeletons aboard. Plus he has briefly spoken to Sans before- albeit in something of a fury. Whoops.]

Besides, does the ship have all that many rules, past "try not to kill each other, or at least don't get caught"?
