open;
Who: Peter and you.
When: 15-20th
Where: Lounge/Mess/Hallways
What: Peter avoids dealing with life via games, TV, and being an annoyance
Warnings: Will update as needed.
Lounge;
[For several days, Peter takes control of the TV in the lounge. At first it was trying to learn the games that BB had left him, but after talking to Wanda its become his way to stop thinking about his conversation with Wanda. It's hard to think about the death of his alternate dimension self when playing Mario Cart.
Maybe he invited you over to play a few rounds. Maybe you catch him watching 90s comedy shows at four in the morning. Maybe you just want to yell at the kid who's been hogging the TV all day and has the volume turned up way too loud on Duck Hunt.]
Mess Hall and Cafe;
[What's another great way to avoid feelings? Eating.
Peter has commandeered a table to himself and has gathered a huge mess from the sheer amount he's packing away. He looks like the food has personally offended him, glaring down at every bite and stabbing everything viciously with his fork. Someone's moved into the anger portion of the process.
You could approach, but that glare says you might not like what happens when you do.]
Hallways;
[And now he's moved into follow someone around and annoy them part of the process.]
I'm just saying, if you work for a family like that, you don't get away with being dicks to them. No rich person is putting up with that.
[He's spent the past few minutes explaining the plot of 'Fresh Prince' to you. Engage?]

Tell that to my mom, I'm pretty sure it drives a person half-crazy. [Not that he's ever blamed her for it, he thinks she did as well as anyone could have.] Or racism or whatever's going on with the bra burning movement. Everyone's got something against someone. We're just a convenient target.
no subject
That's not the super speed, Peter, it's your bratty personality.
[Bra burning- Sometimes she forgets Peter is from a different era than she is, never mind the addition of mutants. She looks at him a little sadly.]
It'll probably get better, you know. Like, bit by bit maybe. I mean, there's still racism and sexism and everything else where I'm from but it's like... improving? In fits and starts. So, like... people can learn.
no subject
[HDU Allison.]
Yeah, and when are you from? I don't know if I want to wait until I'm old before stuff starts getting easier. I got a little sister back home, you know? Why should she have to grow up in that? Hell, who would want to have kids knowing it could be another twenty years before things are better?
no subject
You're the worst brat. A brat-worst.
[Then her face scrunches up in displeasure.] The, um... the twenty-tens...
[Yeah, that's not very reassuring is it?] As a group... people... don't learn very fast...
no subject
[Who do you think you are Allison? Sans?]
So I've got to wait until I'm old and ugly before life gets easier? [Not reassuring at all.] Well, people need to be more like me. Speed up. I don't want to wait forever before I can use my powers and not get a mob coming after me.
no subject
[Utmost maturity.]
I mean. You're not wrong. People need to learn to be more open-minded. You shouldn't have to hide who you are like that. But every time a minority wants equality they have to fight tooth and nail for it, all the way.
[She sighs.] You need a Mutant Pride parade or something.
no subject
[Some parts of his self esteem may have taken a hit, but that part hadn't.]
A pride parade? What are you talking about? And of course I'm right. It's like the marches they were doing when I was a kid. We just don't have a leader to make people notice us.
no subject
Uh, Pride is like... LGBT people- um, that's lesbian, gay, bi, transgender... get together and say 'we're here, we're queer, we're not going anywhere, get used to it!' and 'we're not ashamed of who we are!'
You need, like, that but for mutants. And you don't really need a leader for that, just a network.
no subject
[HDU Allison.]
But that's the thing. I think a lot of mutants are ashamed. And how are we supposed to find a network for us. You can't exactly just go through every name in the phone book and hope they'll admit what they are.
no subject
[She leans her head on one hand.]
I mean, yeah, of course some mutants are ashamed if that's what society is making them feel like. Which is why you need something like Pride.
And you've gotta build a network. Like, I'm not saying this is just gonna happen, you gotta be the change you want to see or whatever. [This would admittedly be easier with the internet but...]
So you search around, look for signs. Make a group, demonstrate, more people will come to you. Get allies like me to help out. Grow a movement together.
