open;
Who: Peter and you.
When: 15-20th
Where: Lounge/Mess/Hallways
What: Peter avoids dealing with life via games, TV, and being an annoyance
Warnings: Will update as needed.
Lounge;
[For several days, Peter takes control of the TV in the lounge. At first it was trying to learn the games that BB had left him, but after talking to Wanda its become his way to stop thinking about his conversation with Wanda. It's hard to think about the death of his alternate dimension self when playing Mario Cart.
Maybe he invited you over to play a few rounds. Maybe you catch him watching 90s comedy shows at four in the morning. Maybe you just want to yell at the kid who's been hogging the TV all day and has the volume turned up way too loud on Duck Hunt.]
Mess Hall and Cafe;
[What's another great way to avoid feelings? Eating.
Peter has commandeered a table to himself and has gathered a huge mess from the sheer amount he's packing away. He looks like the food has personally offended him, glaring down at every bite and stabbing everything viciously with his fork. Someone's moved into the anger portion of the process.
You could approach, but that glare says you might not like what happens when you do.]
Hallways;
[And now he's moved into follow someone around and annoy them part of the process.]
I'm just saying, if you work for a family like that, you don't get away with being dicks to them. No rich person is putting up with that.
[He's spent the past few minutes explaining the plot of 'Fresh Prince' to you. Engage?]

You look like the secret ingredient to the drink is piss.
[Niko sees Peter's expression and is immediately worried. He's gotten to like the kid. He's not a great helper with problems- god, anyone should never expect him to help. He's got a bad habit of shooting or punching other people's problems in the face. But he's decent at just listening to them, or offering someone a good time as a distraction.]
You alright friend? [He takes up a seat on the cafe stool next to him.]

[The look Peter gives him isn't quite a smile, but its a little more pleasant than the glare he's giving everything else. It's only because he likes Niko that he doesn't tell him to move on. And that he doesn't lie.]
I don't really know. I will be, always am. But right now? [He half shrugs, dropping his gaze back to his drink.] Maybe I'm just making mountains out of molehills.

[Niko nudges his arm gently with his elbow, not hard enough to make him slosh his drink though.]
You gave me an ear. I owe you one.
[Peter, in Niko's opinion, is one of the better people he's come across on board the ship. Has ideals, is loyal to his family, not afraid of having a good time. All trademarks of admirable character. He doesn't want to see him lose any of that.]

You know about how me and my sister are from different timelines, universes, whatever you want to call it? So I had a chat with her, found out what happened to that other me. [He gives a little, bitter chuckle.] Apparently I, he dies. And, I don't know. I guess it's just messing with me. Dumb, right?
[It's the tip of the ice burg, between his fight with J and issues with Rinzler. But it's pressing and marginally easier to admit.]

It is pretty normal to want to survive. [Niko, though, is not normal.] But it is also pretty normal to feel bad for family, when you hate to see them hurt for you.
[He feels this way, though, even if he's not particularly attached to himself.]
What happened to this version of you?

[He stops, runs a hand through his hair.]
You know her powers right? I'm not sure what happened exactly. Shot I think. But she was connected. She felt it. She felt it happen.
I don't know how to help her with that.

[It seems harsh, the way he says it, but he's thinking back. To the day he walked in on his aunt's prone, disgraced form. To his own brother.]
My brother was shot in front of me. During the war, I lost a lot of people. But in his case he was shot too. He wasn't a soldier or anything... They were just getting rid of men old enough to fight. Being inside his head would have been so much worse, and even that... it was not easy.
But I had my cousin and my mother. I had to take care of them.
So I guess just take care of each other. That helps. Let her take care of you some.

I'm sorry. I know I've said it before, but I am for what you've had to go through. The more I hear, the more I can't believe you're as nice as you are. I can't really pretend to know what you're dealing with, you or Wanda. How bad it is. Thing weren't exactly falling apart at home.
[He was the only one ever causing his family frustration back home. Always with things that seem pettier and pettier the more he finds out about his sibling's life.]
I know what you're saying. But I can't just let her take care of me. I'm older, or I'm supposed to be. And she's already been through enough. I'm supposed to be the one looking after her, solving all the problems. It's my job. I've already screwed that up enough.

[He knows that's how he would be.]
It probably doesn't do good knowing this, considering the world that you come from.

If you're good to my sisters or Billy that's all that really matters to me on being nice.
Maybe that's the problem; it's just not like that where I'm from. The world's not so serious for us at home. And if I go back I've still got my sisters, but she gets left with nothing. [He sighs, taking another drink.]
Sorry, I'm just talking in circles here.

My roommate loves her. Not as boyfriend- [he says quickly to clarify] -but as good friend. Others do, too. If you leave here alive and okay? She'll be happy.
And she's a good person. Even if she's a little sad, she is not alone. She is cared for and supported.

See this is why I have to call you a nice guy. I can't help but like people who have such glowing things to say about my favorite person. [His expression while still pleasant, turns a little more serious.] Thanks. I think I needed to be reminded of that. It's Wanda, of course people are going to like her enough to look after her.
