its cool neither am i
he enters the room and makes his way over to the reason why he was called here in the first place. mama doesn't seem as skittish about being on the ship as she had when they first met, but she's still timid. luckily, she's used to john by now, and doesn't shy away from his petting.]
No problem. Know it's gotta be hard to take care of her right now when you have to look after yourself.

[But he knows otherwise he'll run himself ragged, and he doesn't want to have to get rid of one of his attempts to move on by giving her off to someone else's care for good, not when she's obviously already attached herself.]
[Guilty or not, John's helping more than he knows.]
I'm working on it.
[It's only because he's already seen his prosthetics that Miller pulls up his pants leg once he's sat again. The cap and generator are shredded on one side, the leg above it bandage.] All it took was one. Those bastards were nasty.

he understands that it must wound kaz's pride to get john to come here. but at the same time, big boss is proud that the man reached out.
when kaz goes to settle down, john gives his friend a more throughout once over than the cursory one he had done at the door. it seems like the worst wound is on his leg, which boss runs his fingers over the damage.]
Luckily, the doctors here will be able to fix you up once the ship gets repaired. You'll be back on two feet before you know it. [it's not as grim as john imagined. he stands straight once more, looking slightly relieved.]

Rinzler showed up and fought them off. Probably heard of him. Sort of has a reputation for violence, artificial person reprogrammed into... something... whatever he is now.
Starting to think I'm the only person that gives the guy half a chance. Guess that's why he showed up.
[It's probably untrue. There are obviously people who do, including the man that ended up showing up and helping Miller get to safety. Most importantly, there's a creepy way to how Rinzler moves, nothing but brutal killer. Slightly it reminds him of the Skulls at their smoothest, when they're not like shambling puppets pulled along by loose, aimless will around.]
[But Rinzler doesn't inspire much of a reaction anymore, not one that makes Miller's skin crawl and his hair prickle. If anything the man has his own unique sense of safety around him, a lack of judgement.]
[Mama just wags her tail whenever one of them looks at her. And though she starts out gluing herself near Miller, she oozes her way over to stand by Big Boss's legs. At least she's easy to walk, lacking the usual huskyish trait to want to run off at the slightest provocation. Kaz couldn't have handled her trying to pull a sled dog act the last couple of days.]

rinzler isn't one of them, but maybe he should all the same. after all, this man had helped kaz out and whether he was altruistic or just repaying a debt, john appreciated it all the same.] And I'm glad he showed up. Surprised it wasn't Ahab.
[weren't those two like glue? or maybe they had a more strained relationship after the former medic had come to learn who he really was. either way, it's just an off-hand thought, not really accusatory.
he looks down to mama, pats her on the head as acknowledgement.]
Anyway, I think your dog is about ready to walk herself if I don't get to it.

Ahab should be alright though.
[Mama is indeed eager, though, doing a little one leg to the other dance.]
[Miller huffs a small almost laugh at that, and looks up at Snake through his glasses.] I'm sure she appreciates it, too.
no subject
but that was a long time ago.]
She can show me appreciation by behaving. Are you coming along?
