[closed] I'm not the man I used to be

Who: Liquid and Venom Snake
When: 5th March onwards
Where: The Training Room
What: Venom meets up with Liquid to discuss possible family issues. Possible punching session might ensue.
Warnings: Anger, violence, possibly angst, lots of Snakes.

There were a lot of questions regarding Venom Snake and his identity right now. A man known as Liquid Snake aka. Eli presumed he was his father. It was proved on Mother Base that the boy didn't bare any biological resemblance to him, due to evidence from a DNA test. Yet, years later, this grown man seemed to harbour a grudge against Venom, even though he wasn't actually his father. Perhaps, Eli didn't know the results proved negative. It now came down to Snake standing in the centre of the Training Room aboard the ship just pondering. He needed to speak to Eli to clear the air more than anything else. Would he want to lay a few punched at his "dad"? Who knew.

All he did know was that he'd be ready for it.

Liquid hadn't known that Venom wasn't his father. He'd escaped Mother Base before anyone had a chance to mention the results of any blood tests, and the last time he'd seen him, before all this, that hadn't exactly been on anyone's mind. But everything had gone wrong.

Dethroned from his kingdom, unable to complete the task he'd set for himself, Nyoka ya Mpembe had, for the first and only time, attempted to give up. The floating boy, the only person he'd ever really trusted, had been his savior. And now the two of them were dead, with Liquid apparently being the only one of the pair with a second chance.

Here, though, he'd learned much more than he'd known back then. And Venom... wasn't that far off from his own situation. It was hard to reconcile his innate anger and hatred with the new information.

Even though he'd been exploring quite a bit, he hadn't seen everything, and he slipped into the training room, thoroughly curious about its workings. Clearly, it had to be different from the rec area and all its equipment. The last thing he'd expected to see when he walked in was the very man he'd been thinking about.

"Ah. Fa--" No, he wasn't his father, and he stopped himself before completing the word. "You." Better, for now. "I didn't realize this place was occupied."

"Don't call me that!" he snapped, pretty much automatically. Didn't matter how old he was, he wasn't ever going to like hearing that name. Still... Deep breaths, Liquid. He really had to stop getting angry at any mention of the name he'd left behind. He had to stop getting angry at a lot of things. Didn't mean he ever would, though.

He crossed his arms as he made his way further into the room, looking around as he did. "I didn't come here to see anyone. I just wanted to check the place out." Venom just happened to be in there. "Training seemed like a good idea."

"It's Liquid now, yeah. I mean, I wouldn't complain too much if you started calling me White Mamba, it's long overdue, but I'm not exactly using that anymore either." It was a little weird saying the translated name, but since that's what most people tended to refer to it as, he figured he might as well.

He took a step closer, a little unsure, but when it came down to it he had been itching to fight this man he'd thought was his father again, someday. "I've been working out in that rec area, but it's mostly just exercise. I figured somewhere like this might fit my needs a little better." So far, he was still working on getting accustomed to his old body again. So far so good, but more practice always helped.

"Hm. Wish I had a knife right now, but I can make do. I've come a long, long way since then. I think I can manage training with you."

Whether the Ingress had taken it or it just wasn't on his body at the time that had been taken, Liquid didn't know. Either way, he didn't have it, and it felt wrong. Even if he wasn't using it at the time, it had always been one of his favorite weapons of choice, and experience just made him better at it. Now, though, he was weaponless.

"Hmph. They're useful for more than just killing." Someone needed to tell the ship that, grumble grumble. That wasn't to say he wouldn't use it for killing, he'd done just that plenty of times in the past, but still.

He finally stepped right in front of him, staring at him with all the intensity of the child he'd once been. "Alright. Don't think I'll be a pushover, though. Remember how I used to be able to hold my own? Well, I've had a hell of a lot of practice since then."

Liquid narrowed his eyes. "I was only a 'brat' because I needed to be." Maybe it didn't lighten the mood that much. Good try though, other dad.

He raised a fist, a sneer on his face. "Gladly," he said, and the second Venom headed towards him, he ducked out of the way, hitting the ground. Alright, this was different from running on the treadmill or lifting weights, and had he been just a half a second too late, he wouldn't have made it. He scrambled to his feet again, grinning. "Maybe I don't need my knife." He had to be careful he wasn't all talk, though.

"Good. I was certainly fast back then, though. Ran circles around you before you even had a chance to hit me." Okay, maybe not completely, but he had been a speedy little kid. He usually got the chance to climb pretty high places on Mother Base before anyone could catch him. Liquid grinned, but the grin was soon wiped off his face when Venom moved towards him. He dodged, but this time the punch caught him on the side as he moved away. Not enough to really knock him off balance, but it still hurt. He glared, switched directions, and started towards Venom in an attempt to tackle him.

"Thanks. Been practicing." He was just used to, well, just about everything about his body being wrong. Ocelot was built differently than he was, and he was old. He wasn't about to start giving Venom the satisfaction of, say, being better or something. Yeah, Liquid was cocky, even if he wasn't completely untouchable.

He stumbled a bit, changing direction after completely missing Venom, and jumped to the side in an attempt to get behind him. "Is it time for the gymnastics already?"

There was a reason Liquid became commander of FOXHOUND, and it wasn't completely because he just happened to be Big Boss's clone son. No way he would have been selected if he didn't have the skills to show it. While he was great at leading, he was also just fine at getting down and doing things himself.

So maybe Venom grabbing him might have startled him a little, but the instant he felt that hand around his leg he took a dive himself instead of falling, thrashing the leg in an attempt to either startle Venom or at least let him free his leg. He liked to work with the element of surprise when he could. That, or extreme measures, but he didn't have a helicopter and he wasn't sure if the giant robots around here would let him pilot them.

Liquid was like this close to actually kicking him in the face, too. What a pity. He stood up, brushing himself off, and moved himself into another ready stance.

He grinned, putting his fists up. He felt just fine, it seemed. Not like he'd admit it if he ever didn't.

"Never. I'm only getting started. How about you? Having some trouble?"

How bizarre would it be if Liquid managed to kill Venom when he actually wasn't trying to? Now that'd be something. Still, this time he actually wanted his opponent alive.

Imagine telling that to his kid self.

"Good. Wouldn't want to tire you out already, old man." His hands spread out in a dramatic, taunting gesture. "Well, come on then."

what is this... 'being nice'...

"Well, there isn't anyone else in here, is there?" He still wished he had a knife, even if he wouldn't be using it in this fight anyway. It was kind of a comfort thing, in a way.

Liquid anticipated the movement, figuring out the best time to turn and dodge. He was a little off, though, and while he didn't get grabbed, he did get hit. Still, he didn't let that dissuade him, deciding to go the direct route with a punch towards the gut.

"Afraid to have other people watch you lose?" Liquid had grown up, yes. And maybe even matured a little. But only a little.

Missing his punch happened all too fast, and Liquid had to take a moment to balance himself. "Shit!" he hissed, trying to move out of the way, but Venom had managed to grab his leg. Okay, okay, so he had to work on a few things. He was a little taller than he'd slowly gotten used to being (Ocelot's body was a hell of a lot different from his own, after all), and that had disoriented him a bit. Just a body discrepancy, no big deal. Grunting, he aimed to kick Venom with his ungrabbed leg.

"Is that what you're calling it?" Even when he didn't have the upper hand, Liquid wasn't going to stop taunting people. It was just the way he was. And, really, he didn't want to admit he didn't have the upper hand.

Even when he was going down.

In an instant Venom spun him around and he found himself pinned to the ground. "Get off!" he shouted, thrashing around, trying to get a blow in any way possible.

Liquid did all he could to get out of Venom's grip, but it was clear all his dramatics and theatrics couldn't get him out of this embarrassing loss. He let out one wordless shout of anger, in a final effort to tear himself away, but Venom ended up getting up anyway.

Quality time, right.

Glaring, he stood up, angry as ever. "Would've done better if I hadn't just finished getting used to being Ocelot," he muttered. Liquid was not a graceful loser. In fact... despite looking like he was done, he suddenly ran towards Venom, looking to tackle him.

"Oh, shut up." It really was true, though, that he was having trouble adjusting to his own body. It'd be fine in due time, but right now it was making fighting kind of hard. Didn't mean he wasn't trying, though.

He thought maybe he'd have the element of surprise on his side, but Ahab managed to dodge and it took all Liquid could do to stay upright. He dodged the kick but ended up taking the elbow anyway, grunting. Again, he tried to rush towards Venom.

He didn't like to give up.

It wasn't like he was spending time thinking up comebacks.

Liquid was fast, but also getting way too reckless now, and Venom managed to grab him. Still, he put up as big a fight as he could, trying to kick and elbow his way out of his grip. Anything he could do to get away and retaliate, he'd try.

Had it been any other situation, Liquid probably would have been better focused, less wild, less reckless. Not massively so, but enough for more precision. But anger was high, he was indeed frustrated, and he was beyond thinking ahead now.

"I don't need your advice!" he shouted, trying to tear himself out of Venom's grip. Yeah, he wasn't doing so great.

Liquid gritted his teeth, but maybe stopped struggling so much. He was an adult. He wasn't that hotheaded kid he used to be. He was... a hotheaded adult, but, well, he was supposed to be grown. Not thrashing around throwing a goddamn tantrum.

Or maybe he was just planning on biding his time for now. Who knew? "I am calm," he insisted, sneering.
saveyourserpent: (dramatic)

[personal profile] saveyourserpent 2016-04-06 02:12 am (UTC)(link)
"Am not." Liquid's first instinct (beyond, of course, the fighting instinct), was to argue. Even if what he said was true (and, well, it was), Liquid didn't want to admit it. "I'm still getting used to myself." Excuses.

The sorest loser, that was Liquid Snake. But he was also goddamn persistent. Unfortunately he was also getting kind of tired of all his flailing around, so his attempts weren't so good this time around.

[personal profile] saveyourserpent 2016-04-10 11:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Tired and frustrated and on a constant crusade to never give up, Liquid ended up getting caught in the hold anyway. And it was useless, in the end; why keep up the flailing? Wasn't like it was an important fight to not lose. It was just supposed to be training, anyway. He sighed. "This never happened," he muttered.
