Don't call the doctors, 'cause they've seen it all before [semi-open]
Who: Athena, Simon Tam, Meh Yewell, and anyone else who wants to join in
When: A couple days after the intro log
Where:The medbay
What:Tfw your hunger strike sends you to the medbay >:T
Warnings: Self-starvation
I might be catching so don’t touch [Closed to Simon Tam || Meh Yewell]
This is pointless. I’m not sick. I’m not injured. I have no reason to be here.
[These are the words you may hear floating into the main room as the doors to the medbay slide open. Athena’s been escorted there, obviously not entirely by her own free will, though thankfully she doesn’t have to be sedated and physically dragged there like she did upon arrival. For one, this uniform offers even less protection from sedative-filled needles than her armor did, and secondly, she doesn’t have near the energy for the evasive maneuvers she would otherwise use to compensate for this. So she lets herself be led, albeit grudgingly.
She glares over her shoulder as the doors slide shut behind her and she’s left alone in the main room. She’ll also glare at any uniformed person who tries approaching her.]
I do not need treatment, [she says shortly. Her appearance, however, would beg to differ. Her skin is sallow, her face gaunt, and her uniform seems to hang a bit too loosely about her. Doesn’t stop her from looking at you as if she’s imagining twisting your head off like a bottle cap and, against all odds, like she could succeed.]
You’ll start believing you’re immune to gravity and stuff [OTA]
[If you enter the medbay at any time afterwards, you might find yourself being stared at very intently. For once, Athena’s intentions aren’t confrontational. She’s just bored. Oh my god, she is so bored. At least when bandits had taken her prisoner, they had provided her with interesting conversation every once and awhile. This “IV drip” is not nearly as diverting. The only reason she hasn’t ripped it out of her wrist and stormed off is because she’s been told if she stays on it for a day and then starts eating actual food, she’ll be able to leave the medbay and that is currently her top priority.
Feel free to talk to her. Or shoot at her. Or spontaneously combust. Honestly, she’s so bored she’d take anything at this point.]

[She wasn't beating around the bush, certainly. Meh Yewll had been in a prison camp herself, a lovely place called "Camp Reverie". It's where the ERep sent their most unwanted.]
I guess you can also ask the captains permission to starve to death, but I don't think they're going to let us get away with not treating you. [Despite the sharp glare, Meh doesn't look phased. Oh, undoubtedly Athena could hurt her- Meh heals quick, but she's soft and squishy and not particularly good at fighting. In fact, everyone can lay into Meh and that's why she isn't particularly compelled to hold her tongue. But, for the moment, she's just talking and going about the MedBay business that doesn't deal with Athena yet. Boring, monotonous, repetitive business.]
What do you think this will accomplish? You're not Ghandi.
no subject
I know that. [Especially since she doesn’t know what a “Ghandi” even is.]
It’s against regs to eat food provided by captors. And I have even less interest in eating food provided by bounty hunters.
[Seems her paranoia from the first day is still alive and well. And why shouldn’t it be? It’s served her well enough in the past.]

[She doesn't know what the ship was for, and who on the ship provides what.]

Yes. Perhaps the entire crew isn’t in on their operations, but someone on board has to be. Likely it’s whoever is controlling the Ingress.

It isn’t like there’s a med hypo for “undernourishment” anyways. [Clearly, her home-planet had some different ideas about medical treatment than they have here on the Moira.]

SORRY FOR DELAY i was in seattle for a bit
I already am stable. [Tired, weakened, and clearly still mistrustful to the point of paranoia, yes. But she hasn’t passed out yet, so she’ll count that as some semblance of stability.]

You’re my bunkmate, not my XO. It’s none of your concern.

You expect me to not care when you starve yourself into the hospital? [Or medbay or whatever this place is called.]

medbay
He hasn't been to medbay since his arrival; he's never had a need of it. Even back home, his parents had kept him as far from doctors and hospitals as they could manage. He hesitates in the doorway, but curiosity wins out. There might still be a few people here who were injured from the last event, and he hasn't been able to check on everyone he'd like to ask after.
He does find a solitary figure, but she isn't a familiar face. Clark meets her gaze. He's unafraid, and utterly guileless in the face of that stare.
Still, between the dark-rimmed glasses and the way he slouches in his uniform, he's relatively unintimidating in comparison. ]
Sorry, miss. I didn't mean to... intrude.

The man appears to be human and utterly unremarkable. But after hours of nothing to listen to but the constant drip of the IV, she’s somewhat more conversational than usual.]
Who are you?
[“The usual” is generally just silence, for reference.]
no subject
Clark Kent. And you?
no subject
Athena.
[He doesn’t have the same uniform as the other medics, Athena notices that much.]
Are you injured?
[The unspoken second question being ’And if not, why are you in here?’]

medbay for the med bae
And, like, whatever they did to him or whatever they're giving him is Strong because right now he's looking around the med bay and having the weirdest case of deja vu. ]
Hey - hey you, with the... staring. [ The metal exam table they've got him on while he shakes off the - did they drug him? Or pull a cybernetic jack? He doesn't even know, Rhys just knows his head's swimming and he's seeing people that are not supposed to be there. ]
You look crazily like someone I know. But you can't be Athena, she's. Well for one, she's captured, and for another helmet hair and Athena are not things I could picture together in the same universe.
aw shucks
What?
[It isn’t until she hears her name that he really gets her attention, her gaze snapping away from the medbay door and towards her fellow patient. How does he know who she is? How did he find out she was captured? Her eyes narrow as she scrutinizes his features. She’s definitely never seen him before. So how does he know all this?]
Who are you?
[Her tone right now is somewhere between “menacing” and “murderous,” so Rhys might want to answer fast. Then again, lying in the medbay with an IV in her wrist, she's not exactly as threatening as she used to be. Is going to be. Whatever.]
uwu
You're even mad like her. Nothing's making you mad you just are. It's HR report fodder and a huge bummer, for the record.
[ He sounds positively despondent about it too. Or it could be the slurring. This medical bed is uncomfortable. ]
Rhys - not "reez" or anything to do with peanut butter cups. People're obsessed with telling me about them and I am both confused and interested.
no subject
Look, I don’t care about-- [She furrows her brow at the unfamiliar combination of words.] peanut butter cups. Tell me how you know who I am.
[Working theories so far: A) he’s with Atlas. To be fair, that’s been her working theory about potentially everyone on the ship until recently, but the fact that this man actually knows her name and most recent status on Pandora gives it extra weight in this case. Or, B) he’s with the Vault Hunters. There’s also the slightest chance that he’s with Mr. Shank, but he really does not look like bandit material, so that theory is shelved for now. Other than those three groups, she can’t think of anyone who could claim to know her or her whereabouts before she was taken aboard the Moira.
Which means, if he gives her any reason to believe Theory A, there’s a good chance she’ll kill him, IV be damned. Choose your words carefully, Rhys.]
