Loki quite certainly has what appears to be a curious teenager watching him thoughtfully. X has straightened some from the relaxed lean he's taken on the railing, arms not quite straight and hands loosely curled over the bar.]
no subject
Can I help you? I'm sure my face isn't that interesting.
no subject
I'm sorry.
[Sheepish but smiling.]
I've just never seen something quite like that light, before, and was curious who was responsible.
[...Yes, X, he probably knows that much.]
no subject
[He folds his arms across his chest, smiling in a very slightly forced way. No point scaring anyone off just yet, not if they're merely curious about what he can do and not the reason why.]
Any other questions I can answer for you?
no subject
"Getting into trouble"? Sounds like you'd get along with a friend of mine.
[Then, after a second's worth of consideration (you get: curious robit)...]
What exactly was that light?
no subject
Perhaps. I've found people who say that overestimate the amount of trouble I'm likely to cause.
[He holds his hand up palm out and fingers spread wide, turns it round to show the back and then back to the palm again.]
Nothing there, yes? Nothing up my sleeve- not that I could get to, at least.
[Not with his glove covering the cuff, anyway.
He shakes his hand, sharply, exactly like a street magician producing ping-pong balls from nowhere- except between Loki's fingers there are green spheres of light, translucent and glowing softly.]
Magic and memory, mainly.
...that feel when you notice a typo too late-- /cry
And just how much is that?
[But X is quiet with the demonstration, if gently amused. There's probably an expected sort of surprise when those lights appear, and X is... well, kind of enchanted by the whole thing.]
Really, that's...
[He shakes his head, a little embarrassed.]
That's incredible. There's nothing close to "magic"--and you're the second person I've spoken with here with any ties to it--where... I'm from.
[Still having a hard time with that.]
I didn't even notice, I promise
[Robots and myths rarely mix, especially if the world has no magic, but it's worth asking, if for no other reason than satisfying curiosity and knowing how much he needs to explain.
He moves his hand, leaving the lights floating in thin air, before catching them all in his closed hand one by one. When he opens his hand again, one light hovers on his palm. A magic trick, with real magic- it amuses him, a little. And the appreciation is always very pleasant, he will admit.]
It's not so common in my world, either. Not the inherent kind I wield, at least. Most people could learn it, with time and effort, though. Your world was rather more technological, then?
