When: February 10-19
Where: Avagi
What: Life support fails, and a team sets out. Check out this ooc post for more.
Warnings: Label your content.
Synce their arrival, Avagi's residents have been plagued by minor system failures. Faulty taskbots and infested crawlspaces, supply shortages and the floods last month. For the most part, they've coped admirably, and quality of life aboard the station is substantially improved from what it was. But even as the damage in the lived-in space is scrubbed away, more dangerous poisons have been building underneath. On February 10, the groaning from the walls will escalate to a harsh scraping, audible station-wide. Then silence falls as the filtration systems die completely: leaving all vents to begin spewing thick, black smoke. |
System Failures | ||
(February 10-19) |
Acrid and hazardous, the cocktail of gases emerging from the vents are the result of three centuries' toxin storage spilling over. A shallow breath can cause a coughing fit, but individuals who draw in too much of the toxic air will find themselves becoming dizzy, passing out, or worse. While effects may vary based on individual biology, all beings who require breath will find their lungs burning and their vision blurred. An hour after the initial failure, the lighting goes out too. With it, all station power: to computers, doors, and any system not hooked up to its own supply.Investigation: Survival (Home Team): |
Travel (Away Team) | ||
(February 12-19) |
When Avagi's current population first got here, it was clear that others had inhabited the space before. Recent developments have even proven that these others—or, perhaps, their descendants—might still exist elsewhere on the station now. With the crystals that might repair your home missing, diplomacy is no longer an optional consideration. It's time to meet the neighbors, and hope they come in peace.Navigation: Survival: Discoveries: |

rogue calls him over, yet as he approaches, kurt has to pause and think about how long it's been.] Well, I'd say maybe ... four to five hours? I haven't done any teleporting, though, so no extra energy has been expended for a while.
[and he feels confident that he's been accommodating his crazy fast metabolism, but if he eats too much, he isn't sure how well protein blocks will keep up.]
no subject
I mean- if you really don't think you could eat, I'll take a rain check. I promise I'm a good cook. [She wants to thank him for his hard work, and for his advice.]
no subject
his lips quirk with mirth, hands raising to tuck into his coat pockets.] I believe you! [which he wholeheartedly means.]
no subject
Well that's a relief. What d'you want? I got some food from the last planets, so I can cook occasionally. I mean, it's not as fresh as it could be, but I'll make you something when I get back to the Institute, too.
[Like she wasn't planing on getting cured immediately still.]
no subject
Anything in particular you recommend? And hey, maybe we'll have to make something together one of these days.
no subject
You're getting potatoes au gratin, if that sounds good. Hearty, at the very least.
[The last time she cooked anything with something, it had been Erik. Well, she'd let him help with the rice. But it had been a pleasant enough experience, and she'd spent a lot of her life sharing a kitchen with someone and she missed it.]</small. Yeah- I'd really love to do that.
no subject
kurt shifts closer, reaching an arm out to loop around her shoulders in a half-hug. like before, he lets his hand rest at rogue's arm, head tipped with curiosity.] We'll have to figure out something to make together.
How have you been, though?
no subject
[Kurt is so comfortable with touching her, and she leans against him after a moment. God she missed human contact.] Next planet, let's keep our eyes peeled for something to cook.
I've been... [She looks away then back to Kurt] I spoke with Erik a little... I'm still not sure how I feel about it.
no subject
[he hums with content after rogue leans against him, arm squeezing firmly around her and his head nodding.] An excellent idea. Do you have a preference for the type of dish? Sweet, salty, savory— that type of thing?
[his relaxed stance tightens somewhat, brow furrowing at the mention of a discussion with erik.] That's fine, [nightcrawler acknowledges.] Nobody should expect you to be okay with what happened in the future.
no subject
I love anything spicy, I'll tell you that now. Comfort food, too- mac and cheese, fried chicken.
[She looks over at her friend and nods.] Thank you. That... That really means a lot. I know ya'll look up to him, and I'm workin' on it. He wrote me a real sweet letter, truth be told...
[She'd managed to save it from her room.]
no subject
kurt returns the gesture, his expression softening once rogue mentions a letter. he huffs then shrugs, giving her a reassuring squeeze.]
We do, but ... you're one of us— an X-Man. What happened wasn't okay and we have to acknowledge that just because Magneto is our mentor, doesn't mean it's the same way for you.
Although, [he pauses, like he might second-guess himself before continuing,] if it's okay to ask, what did the letter say?
no subject
[She glances down. She had no idea. Rogue shifts.] Wow. Thanks, Kurt. That's really... really thoughtful of ya'll. I appreciate it. I really do. Back at school, people didn't always get that.
[She thinks of Storm again.]
Thanks.
The letter basically said he'd make it so we didn't have to work together, and that he doesn't know what changed between our two timelines, but that it's not something he personally would do at this point in his life. He said he thought I was smart and capable. It was... It was a really nice letter, honestly.
no subject
[to be fair, he isn't sure who else he's speaking for aside from himself, but he's doing it! and he has a good feeling that erik at least feels the same way.] Sounds like they weren't all that understanding.
[which is all he says on that matter.]
You're welcome, Rogue. I'm just glad I can help.
[yes, all of that sounds like stuff erik would say; it even makes kurt's lips quirk with a hint of mirth, though it fades just as quickly.] That's kind of him to make arrangements so you wouldn't have to work alongside him. [see? another nice gesture from younger magneto!]
no subject
[She'd do the same for her mother when she was younger, but that tended to be licking the batter off a spoon and declaring it really good.]
They weren't.
[She doesn't need to say more, and he knows that. That unspoken knowledge sitting between the two of them, that deep seated understanding was there in such an uncanny way that it was impossible to ignore.]
It was. He worked with us before- he saved the jet from crashing and killing us all. [But that hadn't made Rogue feel any better about it- what Magneto did to her was so incredibly personal.] But it's a good letter all the same. I may not like him, but even I've gotta admit I have a lot of respect for him.
no subject
[finishing cake or cookie batter was always his favorite part. aside from eating the actual finished product, that is.
he nods in understanding, teeth sinking down on the inside of his cheek, the remaining bit of resistance he has left at this point. kurt shouldn't ask, but boy, does he really want to!]
Did he? [a momentary pause.] Well, that's one redeeming feature. Not much, mind you, but it's something. [he shrugs, offers the slightest smile and gives rogue another squeeze before withdrawing and raising both hands to clap them together.] So! Anything I can help with?
