February Intro Log

Who: New arrivals and old residents
When: February 3-9
Where: Avagi
What: Hello, nice to meet you
Warnings: Label where applicable.

Arrival

A shiver of light, a sense of falling, and Avagi's portals have claimed another traveller. For those first stepping out of the Ingress Memorial, Avagi may be rather disorienting, but some areas are quite lively, and there are plenty of places to explore. As newcomers make their way into their new home, they'll encounter new acquaintances and a few pitfalls.

  • Avagi has largely dried out from last month's flooding, but it seems that the standing water had an effect on the tangle of systems that support life on the space station. Barely visible if someone isn't looking for it, miniscule mold spores are drifting out of several air vents. Those who breathe it in may just cough, but if enough is inhaled, they may also experience mild hallucinations, seeing things that aren't there and perceiving their fellow Avagians as someone else.

  • It seems that power is also having difficulties in spots. The lights in certain long corridors is prone to cutting out without warning, leaving the space very dim if there's anything at all. And is that groaning noise something in the pipes, or could there be ghosts...in space? Hopefully whatever brushed against you is just another person caught in the dark.

  • Multiple people brought back items from the world of Allcoran as rewards for deeds they performed there, but a particularly viney plant that was placed in the Greenery has decided it wants to go back. After dragging itself out of its pot, the very lively plant rustles through the halls of Avagi, trying to find a portal back to Allcoran. If it senses someone's presence, it will collapse into a seemingly inert pile of vines, only to reach out and grab a passerby for sustenance. Don't worry, it takes a month for the plant's digestive fluids to take effect, but you'll need some help to get out of this arboreal hug.

Charlie didn’t like being jerked from her life like this. Not one but. She was happy on the islands. She had a good life there with a good job and a family. Now, she was far from all of that. With no way to get back. It was a fight to keep her panic under control, the Small grey cat in her arms doing nothing to help. Bubble Oh Seven wanted to explore and maybe find something familiar. Someone she knew, like that loud Newsie Charlie had fallen for. But no. She wasn’t going anywhere.

Charlie was making sure of it and the cat had decided it was in her furry butts best interest to listen. At one point, when Charlie is sure she just saw vines moving on their own, Bubble gets stuffed in the bag on Charlie’s hip and a small ball of fire appears over Charlie’s hand.

“Moving plants. Son of a bitch,” Charlie says with a sigh as she continues on, still holding fire. “Not the weirdest thing I’ve seen.” Doesn’t mean she has to like it. Please feel free to bother the girl dressed in pajamas. She could use the help.

Rogue's back in the Greenery, a letter in front of her. She's read it so often that she has it memorized. Still, she reads it over and over, as though it'll give her some guidance about what the fuck to do with regard to Erik Lensherr.

The noise behind her breaks her concentration, and she rises to her feet, folding the letter and shoving it into the back pocket of her jeans just in time for a girl to round the corner with a fireball in her hand.

This is not the weirdest thing Rogue has seen, and as she doesn't recognize the other woman's face, she's pretty quick to figure out she's new around here. She holds up a gloved hand in greeting and to show she's no threat. "Cool powers."

Compared to the flooding, the rolling blackouts are not as big of an issue. For now. They will likely get worse. Erik isn't an electrician, but there's enough metal involved that he can fix some of it without exposing anybody to risk of shock. The corroded wires will have to be repaired somehow, and ferrous metals make for poor conductors, which means that his powers are of limited usefulness.

It's frustrating work. The stress, and worry about what they found with Cerebro, gets to him. He keeps imagining that he's seeing people who aren't there. Not enough to see them fully or talk to them, of course. And not Magda or Nina, thank G-d. But out of the corner of his eye. He thinks he sees a flash of red hair, the edge of a wheelchair wheel, somebody wearing a silver jacket disappearing right around the corner.

Between this and his speech problem on Alcoran it's enough to make him doubt his faculties. He's not that old. And while he didn't remember his grandparents very well, he did remember that they were sharper than his friends' elders. What was happening to him?

His heart stops a moment when he hears a familiar voice. Not just because of who the voice sounds like, but the fact that he's apparently hearing voices now, too. He looks around. If there is somebody there. If she is there, she's right around the corner. That's where the voice was coming from, and there's nobody else there. Which is lucky. Nobody to see him as he slowly loses his mind. He wipes some of the grime off of his hands and stands up a little straighter. "What is the weirdest thing you've seen?" He asks, drawling a bit and walking with just a hint of a swagger.

It's interesting to watch how the other arrivals reacted to the new environment. She must admit, she hadn't been overly sure what was going on or how best to approach it. She wasn't dead/dying or under attack so that was probably a step towards positive but the unfamiliar place does little to ease her concern.

It's hard to know how to approach people, how to talk to them. She wanted to ask where she is but she can't seem to find the words, to call out to the other.

Eleven can only see the back of the girl as she trailed behind her, trying to keep her footsteps quiet, wondering if she knew what she was doing. When she spoke, Eleven jumped back and tried to hide, unsure if she was speaking to her or not - how did she know she was being followed? Her heel hit the back of the wall and she looked up, panicked, her eyes wide. Ready to bolt.

Anon | Tron | OTA but sadly only one prompt today

[personal profile] systemsecurity 2018-02-04 06:33 pm (UTC)(link)
It's so dark, what will anyone do?

Having the lights go out is a serious problem for many people in Avagi, rendering the need for flashlights and lanterns and possibly even candles to try to navigate darkened hallways. Not so much for a program, and perhaps especially so for the monitor, who favored rather bold markings over anything more subtle, and the steady blue glow those give off is just enough to see by in a rather small radius around him once eyes adjust to the gloom. If there's things hiding in the darkness, they're likely to not be around him, he's making too much of a dent in the gloom.

The lights were on a short time ago. And then they weren't. And then they tried to turn back on and failed, and plunged everything into pseudodarkness right afterward. Clearly there is a problem with this system.

The monitor however is not an engineer or electrician and doesn't know the first thing about figuring out WHY this is happening or where the problem is. His skillset is very specific and not really tuned towards fixing things so much as ... making them less fixed.

This has not prevented him from pulling a panel off the wall and poking at the things inside. That looks like it might be something interesting, he can feel the energy going through it, but it doesn't seem to be getting to the rather inefficient light panels at all. His usual method of 'hit it til it stops being a problem' might not apply here, but it looks suspiciously like he's going to give that a try when he reaches for his disk, making a low noise of annoyance. Where was maintenance when they'd be useful??

In space, a power outage is something of an all-hands-on-deck situation. Even Alan, lacking as he is in practical hardware experience, does what he can running diagnostics on the station’s affected systems, which involves quite a bit of actual running around the ship. He’s lucky for the first few minutes, slowed only slightly by the occasional, momentary flicker of lights.

When the lights turn off completely, however, there’s not much he can do besides wait for them to come back on. There’s no natural sunlight to brighten Avagi’s corridors, so no electrical light means no light, period. He may as well have black wool wrapped around his eyes for all they can see through the thick darkness. Alan sighs and reaches out blindly until he touches a wall. It seems like he’ll just have to feel his way to an area of the ship that’s unaffected—if there is one.

It turns out he’s not entirely out of luck. As he makes his way forward, he eventually spots what seems to be a compact bundle of blue lights at the end of the hall. It takes a few steps closer for him to notice that the lights are moving. However, it isn’t until they move in such a way that suggests a figure reaching for a ring of light on its back that Alan realizes what he’s looking at—and what the figure is about to do.

“Wait!” Alan takes a few hurried steps forward, though he still keeps one hand on the wall to steady himself in the dark. “Don’t touch that!”

Truth be told, he doesn’t know what the program is touching, but if it’s embedded into the wall, he’s pretty sure it can’t be solved with a well-aimed disk.

The abrupt darkness comes at exactly the wrong time; Yori catches her box of rewiring and diagnostic tools on a corner and they clatter to the floor, including her assigned flashlight. In the dark. How inefficient.

Yori dislikes going out in the halls when the lights are so unreliable, but with important technical troubleshooting underway, of course she's been doing her best to help. She hesitates, glancing around for signs of trouble.

Is that trouble? Despite the rise in the number of program inhabitants of Avagi, those wide blue markings don't quite fit anyone Yori knows. Armor, but not Tron or Sam or Rinzler or Capella. Grid style, not Ram.

Blue is probably not hostile. Grid or not, she could use assistance and she needs to know more. "Would you mind helping me pick these up?" she requests.

Yori's own circuits gleam at her neck above her careful uniform; the darkness eliminates any distraction from them.

Problems with this system are becoming uncomfortably close to default. Which begs the question: at what point does proper function become a feature, rather than a normal case? Having less than zero interest in philosophy, Rinzler has rejected those evaluations in favor of what he is built for: seeking out and derezzing any threats during the crisis.

He's yet to decide whether this program counts. Security armor. Unique lights. Not Encom's fine-branching patterns, but the more consolidated circuits common to the Grid. Rinzler has no memory of this program, but whether that flags it as foreign or outdated, he doesn't know enough to say. Certainly, the Grid's enforcer should have known of any combat-coded functions wearing blue.

For all he knows, it's the result of the so-called Creator's experimenting here. Rinzler flags the possibility distasteful but unlikely, and maintains observation.

The opened panel flags more familiarity with the user world than he'd expected. The reach back for a disk... less so. Rinzler slants his mask, considers, and in lieu of any warning, allows his own masking functions to drop. Facing the wall panel as he is, the monitor might not spot the sparse red lights that brighten in an alcove down the hall, but the skipping rumble of code errors is a little easier to pick up. Depending on his scanning range, he may even detect the signature that comes online. This program flags no version number or broad class.

Just Rinzler.

Hallways - OTA

Caesar has never been to his new quarters before, but he doesn't need all his mind to follow his ACE's map. Even when it's dark, he places one hand along the wall and glances at his wrist from time to time, attention buzzing.

The lights are turning off and on, and they're doing so with consistent delays. In fact--"Light again," he murmurs, checking the clock. The moaning sounds within the walls are also quite curious. Is it the work of old valves or miscalculations in the pressurization? Could something organic fit through a plumbing system like this one and still be intact enough to make those sounds? Could there be a connection between the power and the groaning, or (as is more likely) are the system malfunctions entirely coincidental?

"Dark," He mumbles again, checking his map once more. It said to turn at this spot, so he does blindly--

Something snakes around him in the dark, surrounding him with rustling and thick bands of vegetation. Caesar cries out and fights for his life--but only briefly. The lights come dimly back in a flickering sort of half-light, and it's enough for him to see that there's no attacker, and it looks like he really just tangled himself up in a poorly placed pile of plant. Thank goodness noone saw that.

Well, it's time for him to be on his way. If he can just get back to his feet--... Hmm. Well, he needs his hands free, and then he'll have his arms--...

... Hmm. Maybe this will be more difficult than he thought.

--------------------------

🙀 Sector, Unit 5 - Closed to Alan Bradley

This isn't the first time Caesar's arrived somewhere with nothing but the tools in his pockets and the clothes on his back. In a dubious stroke of fortune, Caesar is as immediately busy now as he was back then, and for an opposite reason. There were no nanites here, but no one said anything about Caesar's nanites disappearing. Would that be a problem?

He hoped not, but there was no way to be immediately certain. He needed to run simulations. Logic dictated that everything would be fine, and Caesar hoped it would be. What were the alternatives? Well, maybe he should take precautionary measures? What could possibly be effective for a problem like this?

He's standing by one of the unused beds with a scanner still in one hand for a while, just thinking.

The room appears to be empty. Sure, the already-made bed suggests the presence of a roommate, but whoever that is appears to be absent at this moment.

So it might give him a bit of a startle when a strange, tinny voice gives the explorer a rather rude greeting:

”No!”

The blue-then-red, oscillating shape zips into the air out of some unseen hiding spot, darting back and forth in apparent distress. ”No!” it says again.

He’ll have to excuse Bit. It’s been a while since Alan had a roommate.

It's dark. But so what? He's fine. He's got scans and, of course, headlights. Not to mention, dark is totally a great time to duck responsibility and the rest of Sadcat Manor (TM). Just saunter along for a bit. No harm done.

The headlights in his chest end up illuminating some poor human. So he pulls up, holding his hands up in the universal "whoa" gesture. Mostly because he doesn't recognize this one.

... and people usually have one of two reactions to a giant robot.

"Whoa! Sorry dude, totally didn't see you there!"

Hallways!

The yelling might be brief, but it's enough for someone else to vector in on the location. Or possibly something? The ticking whir that rolls out through the hallway sounds more like damaged machinery than any noise a pair of lungs could make, but the figure that steps out in sight is shaped roughly like a human. Sparse red lights dot flexible dark armor, topped by a glossy helmet that slants inquisitively at the man's predicament.

Of all the stupid situations Rinzler's seen users get themselves stuck in... this probably rates within the top ten.

Hallway | OTA

This has not been a good day. This has been a horrible, messy, nightmare of a day. Eleven was exhausted as she stumbled her way through the hall, feeling dizzy and disorientated. She doesn't feel bad physically other than that; all minor cuts and scraps seem to be gone and the only sign of what happened before was her clothes. Her jacket, all too big, ripped and stained from the night's previous events. It's not over still, not by a long shot. There's no Mike to greet her now, no familiar face or safe space. It's all new. Different. Dangerous.

This new environemt and it's enclosing hallways - or that's how it felt in her head. With the lights off, it was a struggle to see ahead and the dark was almost sufficating.

She took a moment to try and breathe, leaning against the wall and fighting down a fresh wave of panic. She expected not to be here or anywhere any more, she expected something else. Not this, never anything this. "Mike?" Her voice was quiet, a little louder than normal but not enough to cause any real impact. Eleven wiped the back of her hand under her nose, sniffling lightly and pushing forward through the hallway.

It's feels a hopeless effort but she doesn't want to be alone. Not any more. Not now. Not after everything that just happened.

Clara just happens to be walking through this particular hallway toward possible locations they can move the school. With the flooding that happened the month prior, the current classrooms aren't exactly usable the way Clara wants them to be. So she's peeking around looking for spare space. When she hears a young sounding voice that isn't familiar to her, she stops and glances around.

No one's there. Maybe they're up ahead. She moves a little faster, rounding a corner. And there the girl is, making Clara gasp softly because she seems like maybe she's new here. She knows all the children that are roaming around the station, and this one is definitely new to her. The fact that children kept being drawn in here was starting to make her upset. They didn't deserve any of this.

"Hey," she cautiously approaches, smiling just a little. "You just arrived here, yeah? I know that has to be confusing. And pretty scary."

The lights going off isn't nearly as much fun as the gravity failing last month. Thankfully, the outages aren't constant or system wide, but even so, after the first day Ram left his hoodie and sweats in his room.

As a result, what comes around the corner in the dark hall is a human glowstick. A series of thin, glowing blue circuits make up the shape of a man and as he gets closer, the rough features of his face can be seen, illuminated from below and the cap-like helmet on his head.

Even with his circuits, Ram can't see too far into the darkness, just well enough to not miss his footing, but he hears the voice that calls out.

'Hello?' he calls back, pausing then heading towards the general source of the voice. 'I'm not Mike, I'm afraid. Who are you? Are you okay?'

True to his word to others, he's been patrolling the halls as soon as it was clear the lights weren't working properly. Better he do it with the built-in power source than use up a flashlight someone else might need. His hand casts enough light to see a few feet with.

Better than nothing, anyway.

It's not until he hears someone calling that he picks up the pace. Hasn't heard anyone by that name on the station, yet. But whoever that is sounds like a kid.

Far be it from Shiro to walk away from a kid.

"Hey -- can you hear me?" Probably should announce himself before he got too close in the dark. "Can you see a light?"

Diana is no stranger to things prowling the corridors at night. It's one of the reasons she had joined their makeshift security team. There were plenty of people who could not protect themselves from things like the demon they had faced not so long ago. And though she is no longer in her own dimension or time, her sacred duty as an Amazon still directs her every action.

The lights go out halfway through her patrol, but she doesn't let it faze her. The station is old, of course some of its systems are less than perfect. Even as she thinks that, she can't help but be amused that less than a year ago, she would never have strung those particular words together. Her time away from her Earth has certainly opened her eyes.

For a long while, all she can hear is the sound of her own breathing. She has traversed these hallways often enough, she can manage without the use of her sight. So when the faint voice comes--Mike?--she freezes where she is. The person sounds young, frightened. She starts to move towards it with long strides, trying to remember the turns so she can find the person.

"Hello?" she calls, after a few moments of walking. Her tone is gentle, concerned. She's here to help.

Behind you.

They've just discovered something rather intriguing - a crowbar, it seems, which is not as useful or as favored a weapon as something with a blade, but still worth carrying about, in a pinch. Running fingertips around the curved, pointed edge, testing its weight with a ponderous swing or two, and their little exercise is interrupted.

It sounds an awful lot like a child. A child who, distinctly, is not having a very spectacular time.

Still. There's no reason not to take precautions. The crowbar swings at Chara's side as they start to pinpoint the source of the sound, and eventually draw upon a shape familiar in its terrified stance - and unfamiliar in every other respect.

"I can't say I know him," says Chara, evenly. "You seem lost."

darkness; for alan

[ For a couple members of the ACE Team, the sudden power issues mean ensuring the rolling blackouts aren't hitting the network. The last thing they need, as ACE units begin to go online and new usernames start showing up in the logs again, is their means of communication cutting out. More new people, right on time.

Taking a break from digging through the station archives, Flynn has teamed up with Alan to check on the network. There's a little of the old Encom feel to it, Flynn finds, nostalgia creeping up slow as they work alongside one another again, running separate diagnostics and keeping an eye on the error logs. Green across the board, the system strong as always. Phew.

Then the lights in their immediate area flicker.

Just the once, an electric hum backing the interruption. Flynn has shifted over to put a hand to the wall, like he'd do when faced with a Grid glitch, right before he chuckles at himself, over the sudden, quick beating of his heart, ]

Hah. Force of habit.
alan_1: (is that so)

[personal profile] alan_1 2018-02-06 11:15 pm (UTC)(link)
[Flynn isn’t the only one feeling the nostalgia. Alan is downright cheerful as they see to their task, especially after they find that the network seems to be unaffected by whatever power glitch is playing havoc with the lights.]

That’s a relief. With any luck, it’s only the lights and not the life support systems too. [He’d rather avoid another cold snap like the one they had a couple of weeks ago. Blackouts are inconvenient, but at least they won’t leave any of them shivering for several days straight.

Flynn’s automatic reaction to the lights flickering gets a quizzical smile—Alan’s not nearly familiar enough with life on the Grid to understand what Flynn could do by merely touching a wall. He looks back up towards the lights, waiting to see if they’ll flicker again.]

What do you think? Water damage or tiny dinosaurs chewing the wires?

[Or a winning combination of both?]

Having An Uncomfortable Thyme

[personal profile] adarasurana 2018-02-07 06:18 am (UTC)(link)
There used to be a time in her life where Adara would have at least considered staying in one place after something major and shocking happened, like unexpectedly popping out of that strange portal, in hopes that someone with more knowledge and authority would find her and help her. It had been a very long time she'd had any faith in authority figures. In fact, it had been a long time since she had found herself as less than one of the most authoritative figures in the room.

Wherever she was now, she didn't think the titles she had collected in Ferelden would be be impressive. She was clearly Somewhere Else. It didn't even look like the parts of the Fade she had traveled to. This was something beyond even that. Fade demons and spirits didn't care if she was the Warden Commander or Arlessa of Amaranthine or whatever other titles Alistair could attempt to throw at her so she really did not think whoever lived in this Beyond place would.

For now, she had to keep moving. A strange metal object that she thought might be trying to speak to her was following her. It hadn't stopped after she had taken a few turns in the corridors, and now she was constantly looking over her shoulder for it. It kept trying to talk to her every time it got close enough, and it had managed to avoid the few lumps of magical rocks that she had thrown at it to get it to stay away. It was slow, though, so escaping it seemed possible.

Adara looks back over her shoulder as she roams the corridors, trying to get rid of the talking metal thing that was so intent on following her. She was not particularly watching her footing--because why would she need to in a place where the floors and walls were so uniform?--and is taken entirely by surprise when a vine catches her ankle and sends her sprawling to the ground.

Her staff skitters away across the floor, and she coughs, trying to catch her breath again. The vine that must have begun only wrapped around her ankle was now covering most of one leg. "Shit," she says, stretching out and trying to reach her staff, her fingers dancing. Could she still summon fire or some other magic to destroy whatever plant monster had her now? She is not sure, since the Fade is gone here and yet her connection to magic is not. That's confusing, but it's a concern for a time where she is not on the floor being dragged slowly into a pile of vines.

"Hold still."

Right place, right time. Vetra'd been doing what she normally did -- trying to run repairs, reroute power, get the place running again in her small sector of the station. It was like trying to get the Nexus online. Something old and familiar, something she thought she was done with, honestly.

But then there had been footsteps and the scraping sound of someone struggling.

So down dropped the turian -- in time to see a woman dragged across the floor by some weird, moving vine. She doesn't pause. She just barks out the command, and lifts her rifle up to her shoulder, sighting the vine easily enough.

And opening fire.

There's a lot of things that suck. The fact that all of her attempts to rescue the minidinos have mostly failed. The fact that the flooding fucked up the power grid which is what she thinks is causing the blackouts. The fact that Peter just disappeared, probably gone forever.

That part really sucks. But whatever. Not much of a surprise. It's not like shit like that ever lasts, anyway.

She skateboards through the halls, trying to keep ahead of the blackouts. She knows enough about electrical systems to be helpful. And also enough to know how to turn shit off before it hurts somebody who doesn't know what they're doing. Pino follows her. She has him on his harness, LED lights and everything. Which reminds her of Peter, but it's not Pino's fault. And he wouldn't like being left alone in her room all the time or kicked out to be shot.

She skids to a stop when she sees the woman getting attacked by a vine. "Hey, whoa!"

Pino also skids to a stop and croaks in his tiny velociraptor way before pouncing on the vine and slashing at it with his footclaws.

"Yeah, get it, boy." Kelly Ann grabs the woman's hands and pulls. "Don't worry, these things look creepy but they're not that strong."

Well, this definitely wasn't supposed to happen.

EMIYA was fairly certain he had died - or, well, what passed for dying when it came to someone in his position. He had faded away, and that meant returning to his spot until he was needed again. Instead, when his vision cleared he found himself staring at a rusted metal wall.

"Hm."

After knocking on it and making sure it was real, he listened to the little chirping machine's introduction. The words he mostly understood, but still he couldn't wrap his mind around what had happened. Whatever an "Ingress" was, it must have had incredible power to summon him across time and space. Was this a severing of his contract with the world, or just a brief layover before it pulled him back?

And then the lights suddenly cut off. An auspicious start to his summoning.

So the red-coated Servant walks the halls of this space station, practically scoffing mentally incredulously every time the words "space station" entered his mind - the best way to suppress the part of himself who thought that was actually pretty interesting. With his eyes Reinforced seeing without light was no challenge at all, and in fact provided an important opportunity: to surprise someone lost in the dark, take them off-balance for questioning, and get some mild kicks out of it in the process.

Which is what he's doing right now.

"Does this sort of thing happened here often?" The man leaning against a bulkhead in the darkness asks, amused. "My, what an ill-kept home you people have."

There's a lot of things Siegfried's gotten used to in the time he's been here- both on Thisavrou, and now on Avagi. Station failures are common, and so is the mess that comes as a result. Last month, half the station was underwater. This month? The lights can't seem to stay on half the time. It's always one thing or another, and beyond crossing to different worlds, there isn't much that promises that things will get better.

That doesn't mean he's given up hope, but Siegfried has to wonder sometimes how much of the problems are brought on from him being here. Das Rheingold plots far more than he knows, and all he can do is simply take it as it comes. It's how he's always faced everything in his life, and in his summoning. Fate decides how things are, and he doesn't argue with it. To do otherwise means he's going against what it means to be a hero, and that's something he can't do.

His journey around the station is a habitual one at this point; oftentimes he's looking to see if he can help anyone he comes across. When that fails, he ends up in the library, perusing through the collection that he still hasn't touched, spending hours trying to find similarities in any lore or legend that he reads. It always turns up empty. In this case, Siegfried had heard word of this area having trouble, and had made his way there to see if anything could be done. It's been relatively quiet, all things considered. That doesn't stop him from pausing once the lights go out, and then pausing again when he hears a voice.

He doesn't miss the feeling of another Servant when Archer speaks. It's been a while since he's felt other mana around besides Lancer's, but it's both nerve-wrecking and relieving to feel another similar presence, somewhat.

"I wouldn't exactly say it was a choice." His tone is factual rather than sarcastic as his eyes meet Archer's- he doesn't recognize him. "We had nowhere to go after watching our previous home die in front of our eyes." Was the other looking for something less blunt? Sorry, Siegfried really isn't that great in that area. Thisavrou burned because they trusted Mother, and all she had truly wanted was revenge. Betrayal wasn't even a thought, it was her existence, and it had all ended as a mess. And while the Savrites felt any newcomer through the Ingress was a danger and only wanted to protect themselves, Siegfried has no love for a people who put innocents and veterans alike through what he equates to mental and physical imprisonment. His feelings on the entire matter are complicated.

He exhales, though the look given back is less firm, this time. "You've just arrived, then?" It boggles him how the Ingress still works here, considering it's been technically destroyed over three hundred years ago. Some things he'll never understand, he supposes.
