The Great Team Meetup
Who: Team Voltron + Team Freelancer
When: Early November
Where: Observation
What: Local Team Dads get an idea and start to implement it with their assorted parties. First step? Meeting.
Warnings: Maybe language??? will add if needed
Observation just seems like the best place to go for a meeting of this size. As far as he knows, there's nothing formal in the works. But both Shiro and North agreed it would be best for their respective bands of intrepid soldiers (and Paladins) to at least know who each other were before getting their Security Detail on.
It's a large room. And when Shiro gets there -- armored up for the occasion -- he'll stand in the relative center of the room, ready to receive his team, or North's. Whoever enters in first.
Maybe he should have thought about raiding their dwindling coffee and tea supply. Or something. Maybe cubes of food.
Oh well. This isn't meant to be a party. Surely everyone else is going to be fine with the arrangement.
((ooc: basically just an open log for everyone to make some new CR and have shenanigans. Tag around, prose or brackets, plan, arm wrestle, idk just don't kill each other.))

Pidge feels much smaller and younger than ever around all these new people, and it's definitely making her fidget with her helmet. So for the most part, she tries more or less keeps to herself. She makes sure not to stray too far from wherever her teammates have wandered, and even though she knows the point of this whole thing is to mingle and meet these other people, well... Being the one to initiate conversation is not her forte.

He says it quietly, but doesn't make an attempt to hide his footsteps as he approaches her. She's clearly not feeling in her element here, so of course, he's going to support her. Best he can. His hand settling on her shoulder.
"It's just people, Pidge -- they already know you're as tough as they come." He'd made sure of that one. "You can do it."
no subject
"People aren't robots, Shiro." Her frown deepens a bit, with a slight twitch of her lips. "I'd know for sure I could do it if they were all robots."
no subject
An automatic reaction to when she startles. But he doesn't pull away. Not from her. Instead he shakes his head slightly, his expression never wavering from one of determination.
"I know that, but they don't have to be." Look at all the faith he has in her. "You're not just good with robots these days, Pidge. You're better than you think you are."
no subject
"Well, I'm at least sure I won't cause any major incidents." She's awkward, not problematic. Which is more than she could say for Lance, if he were there. And of course Darin.
NOT HERE
JUST...
no subject
He's absolutely sure of that. She won't do anything they'll be embarrassed by. In fact, Pidge is about the least of his worries.
"You'll do fine. This isn't some kind of fancy diplomacy meeting. These people fight -- like we do."
no subject
"They seem... more experienced, though."

Though he does have to remind himself that these aren't soldiers. Not formally trained ones, at least — if Shiro's complete lack of knowledge of basic hand signals is any indication.
Maine doesn't offer a hand in greeting. He doesn't even say 'hello.' Instead, the seven-foot-tall soldier just looks down at Pidge and grunts out, "Maine."
no subject
So she just blinks up at him, both eyebrows arched in surprise, and just... decides to respond in kind. "Uh... Pidge." And hey, she'll even extend a hand for a handshake. "From Team Voltron."
no subject
"Project Freelancer," he supplies in turn. It doesn't matter to him that most of his teammates are from a time when the Project no longer exists; until he's ordered otherwise, it's how he'll always identify himself.
He gestures to her armor and asks, "Paladin?"
no subject
There's a half second where she mentally curses herself for pointing out something so obvious, since green is pretty much the only color on her armor that isn't black or white, but she lets it slide. She's not really sure what else to say, after all. Small talk is not her thing.
But Pidge is pretty glad that it's Maine she's meeting first, and not someone more... overwhelmingly chatty. Though maybe even this is a double-edged sword.
"Um- Nice to meet you, by the way."
no subject
Then again, back home, Maine isn't the only Agent with white armor. Just here.
He nods in agreement, then tilts his head curiously and asks, "Green one?"
How many different colors are there?
no subject
"Yeah, we're each kind of... color coded." She frowns a bit, fidgeting with her helmet, shifting her weight from one leg to the other. "Has Shiro told you much about our team?"

"Everything all right?" he asks, not at all unkindly. He realizes that he hasn't really had the opportunity to speak to the young girl despite all the things he's heard about her abilities that have piqued his attention.
no subject
She at least manages a little smile and a tiny wave, only for her eyes to quickly go darting in another direction as if that'll help.
"Yeah- Yeah, I'm just... not great at parties."
no subject
He folds his arms, looking around briefly before he shuffles around to stand beside her. There, now they can both be awkwardly people watching!
"I've been meaning to speak with you," he says. "I'd heard much about you from Shiro and Allura, about your adapting to Altean and even Galran technology. They'd said you had also had opportunity to study the Ingress, so I'd hoped we'd be able to combine our efforts in that, but I suppose that's an opportunity lost."
no subject
Pidge's head tilts slightly to the side as she listens to him, her eyebrows coming together in thought. Shiro and Allura talk about her? Well, maybe that's a given, since they're friends and teammates and all, but it still feels sort of surprising. They really do feel like they could be her parents, bragging about her accomplishments to anyone willing to listen. It actually makes her smile a little bit, feeling her own pride well up in her chest.
"Yeah, I poked at the Ingress machines a lot." Her lips purse slightly, eyes drifting upward while she recalls all the time she'd spent trying to figure it out. "It's different from Altean and Galra tech, but it still feels like Altean in that it's able to create what I'm theorizing are pocket wormholes, just using a different method that I still haven't been able to work my head around, one that has pretty bad side effects after prolonged exposure - Not that any of this probably matters anymore because, well, the Ingress is, yeah, but--"
She stops herself abruptly there, realizing that she'd started to ramble. And then, with a slight, embarrassed flush in her face, she reaches up with her free hand to adjust her glasses.
"A--Anyway. I guess I'm pretty much the resident techie."
no subject
Alfor smiles down at her then. "So I've heard. And it's quite the valuable skill to have. I hear you've installed a cloaking device on the Green Lion?" His smile widens.

i'm so sorry...
And yet, here he is, keeping to the edges and in his armor. Well, mostly in armor. He'd elected to keep his helmet back in his room rather than drag it around. Which... also means he's the shortest guy from their side around (apart from Tex, but her general ability to kill adds at least four inches). Not that it means much when the armor has him almost at six feet even without the helmet.
At the very least, it means when he wanders his way over and spots Pidge, he's not the most intimidating person she could have been bothered by. Even if the first thing he says to her is "Ohhh no. I am not being roped into babysitting again."

Her eyes find the speaker in a heartbeat, her gaze sharpening behind the large, round glasses. "Something tells me you'd be bad at it, so it's lucky that that's not what's being asked of you."

"Considering I managed to keep two dumbasses who decided flushing grenades down the toilet was a fun pastime alive, I'm the fucking best," .... wait, maybe he should be watching his mouth. This palawhatever looks like she's probably... what? Twelve? ... eh, whatever. It's only a matter of time before South opens her mouth and ruins it for the Freelancer side of the room, anyway.
... speaking of. He glances back towards the room at a whole, the other people in armor similar to greenie here as well as Freelancers boasting various makes and models of what Church is wearing.
"You're one of the Palanquins of Voltik, right?" ................... yeah, he wasn't... actually listening to what he was being dragged to.
no subject
Though her gut does say she should hit him while she looks away and deadpans, "Wow. I'm so impressed."
Oddly enough, what does get her is the way he clearly hasn't even tried to understand what this entire mingling thing is about. Shiro's working hard to make this thing work, after all. It's important to him, and that's enough for it to be important to Pidge. Her eyes narrow again, though she doesn't turn back to look at this Freelancer guy.
"I'm a Paladin of Voltron, yeah. Do your team a favor and try to get one fact straight before you go embarrassing yourself in front of the princess."
no subject
"Hey. I'm York."
