[He reaches out for the box eagerly and starts to open it, even though he probably should wait for permission. He's just too excited about the idea of actually getting his hands on alchemical textbooks even in space.]
A lot of alchemical research notes can be dangerous if put in the wrong hands, that's why they're often written in code or kept in specialised libraries so that only trusted or qualified alchemists can read them.

[Or he assumes so, as long as they're alchemical text books such as he recognises from Amestris. He opens the first one to take a look... are they familiar?]

I don't know... the captain said it might be alright, but I didn't want to take the chance that someone could... set the whole ship on fire.
[Which wouldn't last long, vacuum of space and all that, but it's the destruction of the Moira she's making a point about.]

[Probably. He's half distracted by a new type of transmutation circle, not drawn but the description for it is interesting.]
I could show you some of it, if you liked?
no subject
Oh... I'd, actually be very interested to see. As long as it's not going to, you know... [Kill them all?]

[He sets the book aside for a moment and clears a few more from one of the shelves until it's bare. Then he claps his hands together and places them on the wooden shelf.
There's a bright blue light and a singing echo of energy before the wooden shelf transforms into a little wooden statue of a bird.]
See? Totally not dangerous.
[ooc: Sorry for the wait, I was out of town at a wedding.]
No problem! :Db
[When it clears and Al has a little bird in his hands, Elizabeth looks stunned.]
Oh my God... that's incredible!!

It's nothing really, just the application of science through alchemical transmutation. My brother could make small things like this from basic materials when he was four.
no subject
Four... wow. So he's like... an alchemic Mozart.

[He can't help but chuckle, pride in his voice even through the confusion. He obviously thinks the world of his brother.]
If that means a genius, then yeah! He's a prodigy, he was the youngest person ever to become a state alchemist.
