"...this was a first?" Elizabeth repeats incredulously, watching him pack up his things in the most nonchalant way, like he hadn't just been caught sleeping in a library. While glowing rather ferociously.

"Is there some reason you've taken to sleeping in the stacks, Mister...?"

Sam zis the blanket and pillow in, but when he stands up hes got his folded Moira uniform in the same hand that's holding his bag on his shoulder. He's got his toothbrush in the other hand.

"My name is Sam Flynn. And it was quiet in here, that's all. Don't worry lady, I'll stay out of your stacks tonight."

Well, 'night' being relative since it was always dark.

"Elizabeth," she corrects, starting to sound annoyed. Why was she suddenly 'lady' to everyone on this ship? And this is the second time she hasn't been amused by the tone it's been said in. Frowning, Elizabeth stands in his way and eyes the toothbrush.

"You brush your teeth in the stacks too? I know how necessary it is to have a quiet place to do that."

[whoami]

Probably because you sound like an American out of the 1800's? At the moment it's just because you're fussing at Sam. For his part he just seems nervous and defensive. Why should she care? Why would anyone care for that matter.

"Hey if you've got a sink tucked back here that would be pretty cool. But I figured I'd use the kitchen's before my shift."

Elizabeth has regrown her terrible habit of caring. She'd lost it once, and that had been a disaster. The Moira is letting her care again, even if it's about people who are sleeping in the library.

"...why aren't you using the bathroom on your deck? Why aren't you using anything on your deck...?"

And FINALLY someone cottons to the space hobo...in time for March sob

This caring business isn't quite new to Sam. But a total stranger not only caring but questioning is both strange and surprising.It might account for why he answers truthfully.

"Because I've never used anything there. Let that Clark guy keep the room, too. I get by."

Beat

"So is it okay if I go now? Or will there be anything else officer?"

YEEEEEEAH LIZ GOT THIS

Elizabeth wrinkles her nose and tilts her head. "Officer?"

Probably 'police officer', given how cheeky he's being with her. She puts her hands on her hips and frowns at him. "Did you have a fight with your roommate and now you've decided the way to handle it is... sleeping in the library and brushing your teeth in the kitchen?"

[whoami]

He doesn't even honor that first bit with an answer. If she didn't get it then it pretty well killed the joke to try and explain anything to her. That and Sam Flynn is pretty good at pissing people off.

"No. He's a complete sociopath so the answer that I came up with involves leaving everyone out of it. This way no one else has to get involved, and no one has to get kicked out. It was quiet here, that's all. Sorry to have disturbed your stacks. Don't worry lad-- ElizabethI won't come back tonight.

Yeah, most of that sarcasm was a defensive coping mechanism.

"Wait, Clark Kent?" She really isn't dissuaded by sarcasm. Booker was sour from the beginning-- for good reason maybe-- but it made her resistant to attitude. "I hardly think Clark Kent is a sociopath. The man takes care of kittens and a garden."

[whoami]

"What? No, that Adrian Clark guy."

Rude or not, Sam is getting to the point he is going to shove past you, Elizabeth.

Elizabeth teeters into the shelf a little, and makes a disgusted noise about being pushed, but doesn't focus on that.

"Why don't you just ask for a new room?!"

[whoami]

Sam huffed a sigh. He didn't like talking about himself in the first place, and didn't like strangers prying into his life (or at least what he felt was prying) in the second.

"Because that would get someone else involved, two people if you're counting this other 'roommate', and I'm not that big on shared living in the first place."

Actually he hated it. Sam would rather sleep where he could than be in such close proximity to another person.

"Well maybe someone else should get involved. You have as much right to be comfortable on this ship as anybody else, after all."

Elizabeth DeWitt: prier extraordinaire. Whether Sam wasn't enjoying her analysis of the situation, she sees it as a solvable problem. So why not offer suggestions on how to solve it?
