"There will be no prison which can hold our movement down."

The Ingress has pulled you in. Your body experiences several sensations at once: being pushed forward as if a hand is resting on your back, momentary and startling blindness, a gentle ringing in your head. You have difficulty discerning whether it is hot or cold, but where you have been prodded is noticeably warmer than the rest of you. Some may suffer from dizziness while others are perfectly fine. Once equilibrium has been reestablished, you will notice you are standing on a long platform and that the room is filled with a soft cerulean light. It's slightly humid and dark despite the glow around you, and nothing is familiar.

Yet, unlike most new crew arrivals, this one is in the middle of chaos.

Despite more recent events, the planet of Emiri is not as peaceful as it once was. Frederick Link is still missing, and the authorities of Emiri have yet to lift the interplanetary ban they have placed on all space crafts docked at the aerospace. The captains previous held a meeting asking crew for any and all information that might help them locate the Komai, a mysterious group determined to undermine Link'd Inc's work providing flourishing matches across the universe by causing random acts of violence and protest across the three main cities: Harashan, Avelle, and St. Murtel. These things have led to mass arrests as well as an unsettling atmosphere spreading across the planet, and since a previous broadcast, things are beginning to escalate.

A downward spiral of these events begins as soon as new arrivals start to leave the Ingress—an unmarked box arrives in the cargo bay addressed to the inhabitants of the Moira. As per his job, Niko Bellic is the one to discover this box and open it. For some, the contents may be particularly gruesome. Link’s body is inside, clothed in a simple white button-down and pants (no shoes), and it looks as if letters have begun to bleed through the material. Anyone with expert knowledge of torture may note that Link was, in fact, tortured for information, and those letters? The writing itself spells out the name St. Murtel.

The captains, having been alerted of this, make an attempt to contact those at Link’d Inc. Unfortunately, the damage has already been done.

☄ First: MISCOMMUNICATION
Somehow, whether intentional or not, the Komai have once again hacked public systems and networks to brand those of the Moira as the ones behind these terroristic acts. They still use their own name, but the images are different, focusing on familiar faces wearing the ship’s uniforms and traveling to the Aerospace to return to the Moira. Not only that, there are short recordings of Link’s final words that mention a very recognizable name: Captain Thán. The Komai have redirected the blame to the Moira and its crew for their own means, and in response, any and all crew who are captured by authorities will immediately be detained and shipped out to unknown locations. The Captains send a message via MID and request everyone return to the ship to prevent this from happening. Yet, not all messages will be delivered depending on how far away they are.

With everyone’s safety hanging in the balance, the Captains have decided to take things into their own hands and find a way to lift the block on the Moira so they can leave Emiri’s orbit and avoid further repercussions regardless of whether or not any one of the crew wants to stay.

☄ Second: DECOY & DISTRACT
After learning that Benjamin Link, son of recently deceased Frederick Link, knows how to unlock the ship so they can leave, the captains ask for volunteers to act as decoys on a mission to the Aerospace in Harashan. Their job is to distract guards and Emiri citizens, leaving the path clear for Benjamin to get to the computers. The captains reiterate that they are to use nonfatal methods as they don’t want a repeat of the events on Caducus Primary. Without his help, the ship won’t be able to leave, making this mission critical and extremely time sensitive.

☄ Third: RESCUE
During the mission, Benjamin informs the crew that the Komai aren’t incorrect in their claims that Link’d Inc uses unforgivable means to obtain information in order to make their matches perfect. The children the crew dreamed about are just two of many—the offspring of Emirian citizens who had gone missing. It has long been suspected that Link’d Inc was involved in their disappearances, but only recently has the Komai done anything to shed light on these gruesome rumors. Benjamin, after successfully unlocking the ship, disables the security systems in St. Murtel, which will allow the children a chance to escape. They’ll need assistance in getting out of St. Murtel and to a pre-designated area in Avelle where a group of Komai and Emirians will be waiting for them.

But be careful. If anyone is recognized as part of the crew, they will be placed under arrest for treason and possibly never heard from again.

☄ Fourth: BREAKING OUT
Now that the computer systems in Harashan’s Aerospace have been used to release the Moira, the entire crew are being called back via MID for an expedient exit from Emiri. Crew will be asked to assist other Moirans in getting back to the ship as quickly as possible via transporters or other small crafts as leaving is their only option at this point. In the escape, Emiri launches an attack on the Moira in an attempt to stop them. The ship’s previously unused defense systems activate, and those assigned to those positions are required to man their posts. Perhaps even those who don’t have the clearance are needed. Either way, it’s time to leave.

☄ Fifth: REFUGEES
Now that the ship has finally escaped Emiri’s orbit, the crew will notice a group of stragglers in the main hall. During the crew’s quick exit, about fifty Emirians have taken refuge aboard the Moira, and the captains have agreed to take them to the closest planet so they may start again or live a life free of Link’d Inc “rule”. The captains ask the crew to help get them clothes and food for their short stay, no longer than a day at most, and to occupy them as best they can. Tell jokes, sing songs, bring up the kittens so that everyone can attempt to wind down after this series of unfortunate events. Light entertainment won’t be provided, but on request, some crew members may do just that.

( he flashes her another grin, before pulling them on and finally -- and ever so reluctantly -- buttoning the uniform shirt. although he does rather wince at the idea of causing a scene. this is not what he does, liz, it's completely out of his wheelhouse. )

Er-- as much attention as possible?

( he's totally down for carrying her, though, that won't be a problem. )

[personal profile] tearmeanewone 2016-02-17 06:05 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah. We should pull as many of them from their posts as possible, but if you start reporting a security threat they'll go on high alert. A passed out girl in tiny shorts isn't a threat. Or so they think.

[She turns and looks back at him. Thank God he's mostly dressed now.]

It's easy. Just like firing a noisemaking dart down a dummy hallway.

( he groans internally, running a hand through his hair. he doesn't like this, he doesn't like this at all. )

That wasn't covered in the Academy. You get that sort of training in ImpSec, just ask Miles. ( but that's not a no, and ivan curses himself and everyone involved. why does this sort of thing always happen to him? ) Alright. Whenever you're ready.

[personal profile] tearmeanewone 2016-02-19 12:26 am (UTC)(link)
This wasn't covered in any book I read in my tower, but trust me, you pick it up quick when you have to. [She smirks at him faintly as she comes away from the window and faces him again.] It's a part you're playing. Just pretend you found a girl passed out and you're looking for help. It doesn't matter that you're not actually a guard here. Let them think what they'll think... and try not to contradict any of that.

( but what if i don't want to is muttered under his breath before he grins back at her, one arm reaching out to wrap around her shoulders before he attempts to completely pull her into his arms bridal style. )

I'm a lucky man if I found someone as beautiful as you in need of help. ( ok, look. he just can't help himself. ) You good?

[personal profile] tearmeanewone 2016-02-19 04:55 am (UTC)(link)
Oh! [Elizabeth laughs as Ivan scoops her up, clearly not minding at all. If anything, it's a chance to get carried by Ivan again-- and hopefully this time she won't pass out in the middle of it.]

And I'm a lucky woman to have someone as handsome as you find me. [She knows, Ivan. She knows.] Alright, let's do this.

[She goes convincingly slack in his arms. Now's another good time for cleavage appreciation, too.] Just don't smack my head into any doorframes...
whatdidisay: (pic#9526939)

[personal profile] whatdidisay 2016-02-19 05:22 pm (UTC)(link)
You know how to flatter a man. No doorframe incidents, promise.

( he is going to take that chance glance at her cleavage, please and thank you, although he doesn't get as distracted by it as before. just a little. )

Hey! ( he says, as soon as he gets them through a door -- he hates this, hates drawing attention to himself, and his grip on elizabeth gets tighter. ) Someone-- hey! A bit of help here?

( the confusion and pleading in his voice is as real as ivan can make it, which is pretty damn impressive. )

[personal profile] tearmeanewone 2016-02-22 12:40 am (UTC)(link)
[Elizabeth stays slack in Ivan's arms as he carries her, playing the part of the unconscious lady very well. It's only a matter of time before a couple of guards come running.]

'What happened?'
whatdidisay: (pic#9528864)

[personal profile] whatdidisay 2016-02-24 01:11 am (UTC)(link)
I don't know. ( he says, very convincingly. ) She just collapsed in the hall back there -- fainted dead away. Is there a doctor around?

( he bets not, and the flurry of activity asking for one might be a good distraction of its own. )
tearmeanewone: (155)

[personal profile] tearmeanewone 2016-02-24 04:29 am (UTC)(link)
'Yeah, let's get the medic on the horn please!'

[Well... nice guess Ivan, you're half right? A couple guards scramble away, presumably to go find a phone. The one who seems to be in charge watches them go.]

'Here, I'll take her to my office in the meantime.' [He reaches out to relieve Ivan of Elizabeth, and she tenses in his arms. She doesn't want some stranger manhandling her, but if Ivan's going to give her up she'll have to get over it very quickly or risk exposing them.]
whatdidisay: (pic#9526970)

[personal profile] whatdidisay 2016-02-25 06:44 am (UTC)(link)
( ivan doesn't want to let elizabeth go, and he flinches backwards at the offered help before covering it with a smile and shake of his head. )

I can carry her, she's not that heavy. And anyway ( he continues, grip tightening on her protectively that can easily be read as possessiveness by those watching ) I want be around when she wakes up. Maybe she'll feel generous towards her hero, huh?

( please work, ivan thinks. it's the sort of thing miles would do. maybe. except he'd talk three rings around them and get them on his side before anyone knew what was going on. ivan just can't do that sort of thing. )
tearmeanewone: (083)

[personal profile] tearmeanewone 2016-02-25 11:26 pm (UTC)(link)
[The guard frowns and backs off, but apparently the ploy works just fine because he doesn't fight him on the subject. Damn rookies getting overly excited about being 'a hero' while guarding the aerospace.]

'Sure buddy, if you think she's going to be generous, you keep thinking that. She looks like an ice queen from here.'

[If there are any telepaths around, the sound of outrage Elizabeth is making in her head is impressively loud.]

'Still, we should get her someplace comfortable. Follow me.'
whatdidisay: (pic#9526938)

[personal profile] whatdidisay 2016-02-26 05:30 am (UTC)(link)
( ivan covers his indignant sound with a cough, grip tightening further. elizabeth is anything but, he wants to say, hell -- he's rather surprised she ended up as personable as she is when one considers being locked up and traded at birth. he's just saying. )

She's anything but cold. ( he responds smoothly, with a slight jostle of her to punctuate the sly -- well, ivan hopes it's sly -- remark. ) Sure, lead the way.

( they're going to need to draw more attention to themselves, though. maybe if she started wailing? he's not sure how to ask her about that, though. )
tearmeanewone: (031)

[personal profile] tearmeanewone 2016-02-29 05:42 am (UTC)(link)
[It's a good point, Ivan-- Elizabeth is remarkably well-adjusted for being kept away from human beings. And also properly chastised by Ivan having to cough to cover her outrage.]

[The guard gives him a world-weary look and turns to lead Ivan to his office.]

'Yeah, she's going to be thrilled to realize she's been rescued by someone enjoying her body heat.'

[This is so embarrassing. The most embarrassing infiltration ever.]
whatdidisay: (eugh small spaces no thanks)

[personal profile] whatdidisay 2016-03-01 04:45 am (UTC)(link)
Rescued heroically by an extremely handsome guard. What's not to like?

( back off, buddy.

ivan spends most of this conversation internally running in circles trying to find a way out of this for the both of them as quickly as possible, with as little humiliation as possible.

it doesn't seem to be working.
)
tearmeanewone: (007)

[personal profile] tearmeanewone 2016-03-02 05:13 am (UTC)(link)
[Elizabeth rubs a finger against Ivan's stomach surreptitiously, as if to reassure him that he's a very handsome and heroic guard.]

[Eventually the jerky head guard opens the door to his office wide to let Ivan in with Elizabeth.]

'Put her down on the couch, I'll let Kowalski know to send the medic up here.'
whatdidisay: (pic#9526939)

[personal profile] whatdidisay 2016-03-02 06:05 am (UTC)(link)
( oh. is this what positive reassurance is like? ivan can't say he's experienced much of that, and something in him turns warm at the thought and the subtle brush. oh.

ivan maneuvers them both in, depositing her on the couch but not letting her go completely under the guise of checking her pulse.
)

I'll wait here with her, just in case she comes around.

( please go. )
tearmeanewone: (134)

[personal profile] tearmeanewone 2016-03-02 07:08 am (UTC)(link)
[Oh no, he's not leaving some rookie in his office by himself with an unconscious woman. He rolls his eyes and has a seat behind his desk, picking up the phone.]

'Suit yourself-- get me Kramer.' [He says into the phone. Elizabeth opens her eyes and looks right at Ivan. There's some creative and strained looks, completely with eyebrow raising in the direction of the guard. 'Do something Ivan.']
whatdidisay: (pic#9528869)

[personal profile] whatdidisay 2016-03-02 05:04 pm (UTC)(link)
( aw hell.

ivan reluctantly gives her a nod and a squeeze of the hand before he leaves her, ambling over to the desk as if he's interested in whatever the guard is doing. only he gently steps on the power cord for the phone -- neatly and quietly cutting off the phone conversation. he's on the other side of the guard, so that if he looks up at him for an explanation, his back will be to elizabeth.
)

What's up?

( he asks, as if he's inquiring about the status of a doctor. )
tearmeanewone: (041)

[personal profile] tearmeanewone 2016-03-06 07:51 am (UTC)(link)
[The guard, of course, realizes that Ivan has stepped on the cord when the phone stops ringing. He grimaces and turns around.]

'Would you watch where you're stepping?'

[Elizabeth, from her position on the couch, pulls her tranquilizer gun from her waistband and hits him square in the back. The guard yelps in surprise, but then drops the phone as he passes out. Elizabeth leaps to her feet.]

Quick, hang up the phone!
whatdidisay: (pic#9526977)

[personal profile] whatdidisay 2016-03-07 02:04 am (UTC)(link)
( he doesn't need to be told -- grabbing it and slamming it down before the person on the other end can pick up. )

That's enough excitement for me for the next year.

( he says, knowing that they're not done yet. )
tearmeanewone: (104)

[personal profile] tearmeanewone 2016-03-07 07:44 am (UTC)(link)
Oh Ivan. [Elizabeth rolls off of the couch with a breathless laugh and moves around the desk to stretch up and put a kiss on his cheek. She knows this isn't Ivan's strong suit, but he still did it for her and the sake of the children and the Moira. It's admirable, in her opinion, when someone overcomes nerves and performs his part so well. Not everyone was brave, but Ivan was when it counted.] I know I asked a lot of you, but you did a brilliant job.

Here-- [She rolls the chair with the guard towards the wall, away from the desk. Once that's taken care of, she starts going through the desk.]

Look for something on protocols. There must be a way to evacuate this place without drawing suspicion or attention.
whatdidisay: (pic#9528869)

[personal profile] whatdidisay 2016-03-07 07:17 pm (UTC)(link)
( oh. something in ivan melts at that, and he sneaks an arm around her waist before she can pull away to kiss the corner of her mouth in return. leaving her to the desk search, ivan goes to the filing cabinet to flip through the files there. )

Not a fire. ( he says, pulling the top drawer open and flipping through the back part of it first in the hopes that this man's system of filing resembles his own. ) Although we could probably swing an unannounced test of some sort of emergency evacuation. That way we don't have to scramble to create the scenario in the first place.
tearmeanewone: (118)

[personal profile] tearmeanewone 2016-03-07 10:29 pm (UTC)(link)
[Oh, he kissed her back. Elizabeth had meant it as an apology of sorts for getting him mixed up in stepping on phone cords and distracting guards, but this is good. This is probably better. Affection and adrenaline are kind of... great together.]

[Elizabeth bites her lip and watches Ivan go to the cabinet with a little intrigued smile. Then she remembers to rifle through the drawers, pulling out what appears to be some kind of employee manual (at least, there are smiling, excited people on the cover, pictured mid-jump in the uniform Ivan is currently sporting. How embarrassing).]

That's it! A drill! Children to fire drills at school, surely a facility like this would have an evacuation plan in place and would occasionally remind everyone how to do it. [She starts flipping through the manual, hopping up to sit on the desk.] Ah-hah! Seismic Activity Evac Procedures! [Elizabeth scans the page.] Perfect, units gather together outside and away from the building, and are given the all-clear by the Security General.

[Elizabeth looks up and back at the man in the chair, fast asleep. His patch says 'Sec. Gen. Kravitz'-- lucky break there.]

Anything over there on how to operate the PA system?
whatdidisay: (pic#9526939)

[personal profile] whatdidisay 2016-03-09 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
( ivan sighs inwardly, relatively certain that if he were miles they wouldn't have had to knock out the guard in the first place. just some quick talking action and he'd have the man jumping to do whatever ivan wanted him to. damn, how did his cousin manage to just do that to people? you'd think after twenty five years of suffering through it, he'd know.

what he does know, is, where someone stashes the manual. pulling out the bottom drawer and reaching into the back, ivan resurfaces with a stack of official looking guides to equipment.
)

Sure is. ( he says, handing it off. ) Everyone in Ops always stores stuff like this in the same place.
