But a knife traveling at him full speed? He flinches, jumping back and half stumbling to try and get out of the way, but the motion doesn't carry him away. The hilt hits into his side as he half-turns, and he has to give it a few seconds to realize that he hasn't been wounded.
Bruised, certainly, but the knife had clattered to the ground, and now Oren was staring baffled between it and Rinzler.]
Are you mad? You could have killed me!

Edge: other direction.
[It's like an apology, except not at all. Still, if Rinzler wanted to kill the user, he'd do a much better job than that. The enforcer shifts with fluid ease, mask tipping from the user to its dropped blade. Is it really just going to leave it there?]
Need practice.
no subject
[He's not sure he believes it was thrown that way on purpose. With Rinzler looking at the knife again, though, Oren bends quickly to take it, slipping it under his sash so avoid any more incidents.]
I've had practice. There's only so much fighting I do, and I'd prefer to keep it minimal.
no subject
[Neither is modesty, in case Rinzler's overwhelming case of smug hasn't made that clear. As for not fighting... it was some kind of admin function, it had said?]
Subordinates present?
no subject
But Oren's still tense, still eyeing the thing carefully. Subordinates, though. Somehow, that word earns a very short laugh and a glance downwards. He rubs at his temple with one of his hands, thinking.]
No.
no subject
Only a nod. Expected. And if the admin didn't have anyone it could order to protect it...]
Need practice.

[Oren gives him a flat look for the badgering, honestly, but now his mind is racing. Mattias was here. That Burner would have him killed at the first sight if he remembered anything— and why wouldn't he? Unless the gap in his own memory is from that portal.
He really didn't sign up for dealing with all of this.]
But it's not as if I can just ask anyone to guide me in how to use a weapon. Especially when the interest is hardly there. How about a bodyguard or something, instead? At least in that I'd have the security of a payment.

Combat functions: more secure.
[He knows users trade resources for tasks, but expecting loyalty from that kind of trade seems questionable at best. And weren't they supposed to be good at self-upgrading? That had seemed to be the idea of that 'school', at least. Maybe this one has lower potential.
The enforcer shrugs. It's a user. It will do what it prefers, for better or for worse.]
Your choice.
no subject
Perhaps so. I'll put it on my list, right beneath finding a way back.
[Things he'd rather spend time on include that and making sure Mattias hasn't unleashed Nocta here. He rubs at his wrist just below the new, technological bracelet and frowns.]
Thank you, I suppose. I hadn't expected anyone to clean and return the knife, even if the handling was rather worrying.
no subject
Previous reference ('back'): a battleground.
[So no, really, the user might want to work on its combat skills before warping back to the murder attempts. Just a thought. Though Rinzler will lay off on the nagging for a moment (and completely ignore the recrimination) to offer a shrug in trade for the thanks.]
Low effort.
[And weapons are important.]
no subject
[It's a sarcastic comment he doesn't mind speaking loudly, a smile curling at his lips despite himself. He can't help but be amused. This is the help he ends up getting? It is better than nothing, but really...]
I thank you for the sentiment rather than the effort. [He takes a couple of steps back, bowing his head slightly with a playful salute of a gesture to indicate his leave.] May we meet again.
no subject
It's not a combatant... but he minds this user a little less than most.]
