[Scott tips his head to the side, more curious about the holoform than he is about what his ants may or may not be doing.]
I don't know what a scraplet is, but they're not that. Mostly, they're just harmless, but this Ingress stuff messed with them.
no subject
[riptide has never really heard of ants. he wasn't much for interacting with other species, though he does know the phrase "ants in your pants" thanks to swerve and the amount of movies they've been watching recently.
he carefully steps away from where he'd been stopped. it's not like the light projection could hurt them anyway, but you know.]
You know, I'm not even gonna try and pretend I understand the Ingress stuff. Do you have, like... treats for them? That usually gets little guys out, right?
no subject
[He does has his EMP device, which he places over his ear, calling the ants away. It's slow going, but they start to move.]
Sorry about that. I'm Scott.
[He sticks his hand out, then squints, because he's pretty sure that they can't shake his hand. Oh, well.]
no subject
Riptide. Is that what it's called?
...
[wait. the holoform flickers; squints.]
Do they have tiny little headsets on...
no subject
Yeah, they said it was an Ingress, but it just looks like a big hunk of metal that makes a bunch of wind and has shiny lights.
[And pulls random people through. He glances down at the ants.]
They sure do, well, not all of them. Just the ones in charge.
no subject
[after three million years, riptide is fairly certain he's seen all the space stuff available.
the holoform crouches down, looking for the ants, though maybe not even seeing them. still no idea what he's looking for.]
Are they talking? Can they talk? What are they saying? Are they agreeing that space stuff is obnoxiously shiny? I bet they are.
no subject
[Oh, Scott likes him. Likes him a lot. He isn't afraid of the ants now that Scott has explained, and that's plus a hundred on the Scott Lang scale of who's cool and who isn't.]
Sort of. [He crouches down beside the holoform, placing a hand on the ground so a few ants could crawl into his palm.] It's not exactly words, but since they understand me and each other, I guess it's talking.
This is Korr and this is Chuck Barris.
no subject
[riptide - or, his hologram - shakes his head. this entire thing sounds like something brainstorm would do, actually.]
There's so many of them! Did you name them all?
[riptide kinda wants one to be named after him.]
no subject
[He glances down at the ants, waving his hand in a wide arch.]
I tried, but there's hundreds of them. I haven't named them all yet.
[Scott bends down and lets the two ants closest to Riptide's holoform climb into his palm.]
These guys seem to like you. What do you wanna call them?
no subject
Jetfuel! That one on the left is definitely a Jetfuel. I'm thinking... Gunlegs for that other one. We should get it actual gun legs. That would be funny.
no subject
[He'd offer to let Riptide hold them but he doesn't want to offend him by making a thing out of the fact that he's a holoform.]
So, now that you've named them you have to come and visit them. They'll get lonely and upset if their new dad doesn't take them out once in a while.
no subject
[his tone is clearly teasing.]
no subject
[Scott shakes his head, grinning.]
Remember that they can't play until they've done their homework.
no subject
[a short, happy cackle.]
But seriously. Tell me when they're all grown up and stuff, I wanna see my two little guys at full size!
[oh no]
no subject
[Not unless he hit them with a particle disc, but he didn't have many to spare.]
But visit them whenever you want to. Come by and take us all out for dinner one night.
no subject
[he puts his hands to his cheeks.]
I'm still settling in! I mean, I haven't even found my room yet. Do they have restaurants here? ...I've never really even been in a proper one!!
no subject
[Scott makes a twirling motion with his left hand.]
Organic beings. Some kind of holographic projection thing, which is totally cool man, but you're not human are you? No body laying around somewhere?
no subject
[the holoform flickers indignantly. how does something flicker indignantly? who knows, but riptide manages it.]
I'm sitting up straight, I'll have you know. Did you see a giant blue guy when you arrived? Like, jammed into a corner? That was me. Took me forever to get out of that room.
[mostly because there was a lot of little people he didn't want to squish around.]
no subject
[Scott isn't sure what he would do if he was a giant blue guy, but on a ship like this, he'd probably find a better way to move around. Made sense.]
I didn't see you, but I'd like to. Are you an alien or a machine or?
[Riptide, I've just met you and this is crazy. But you have a giant blue body, so let me see it maybe.]
no subject
[he seems so proud of himself, bless. though this does vaguely feel like selling himself.]
no subject
How about you show me your totally huge blue body?
no subject
[he's still low-key down for showing off, though.]
no subject
[Couldn't blame a guy for wanting to see.]
no subject
[he IS amazing, after all.]
no subject
[Scott's still not one hundred percent sure what he's going to find in the cargo bay, but he's pretty excited.]
