"There will be no prison which can hold our movement down."

The Ingress has pulled you in. Your body experiences several sensations at once: being pushed forward as if a hand is resting on your back, momentary and startling blindness, a gentle ringing in your head. You have difficulty discerning whether it is hot or cold, but where you have been prodded is noticeably warmer than the rest of you. Some may suffer from dizziness while others are perfectly fine. Once equilibrium has been reestablished, you will notice you are standing on a long platform and that the room is filled with a soft cerulean light. It's slightly humid and dark despite the glow around you, and nothing is familiar.

Yet, unlike most new crew arrivals, this one is in the middle of chaos.

Despite more recent events, the planet of Emiri is not as peaceful as it once was. Frederick Link is still missing, and the authorities of Emiri have yet to lift the interplanetary ban they have placed on all space crafts docked at the aerospace. The captains previous held a meeting asking crew for any and all information that might help them locate the Komai, a mysterious group determined to undermine Link'd Inc's work providing flourishing matches across the universe by causing random acts of violence and protest across the three main cities: Harashan, Avelle, and St. Murtel. These things have led to mass arrests as well as an unsettling atmosphere spreading across the planet, and since a previous broadcast, things are beginning to escalate.

A downward spiral of these events begins as soon as new arrivals start to leave the Ingress—an unmarked box arrives in the cargo bay addressed to the inhabitants of the Moira. As per his job, Niko Bellic is the one to discover this box and open it. For some, the contents may be particularly gruesome. Link’s body is inside, clothed in a simple white button-down and pants (no shoes), and it looks as if letters have begun to bleed through the material. Anyone with expert knowledge of torture may note that Link was, in fact, tortured for information, and those letters? The writing itself spells out the name St. Murtel.

The captains, having been alerted of this, make an attempt to contact those at Link’d Inc. Unfortunately, the damage has already been done.

☄ First: MISCOMMUNICATION
Somehow, whether intentional or not, the Komai have once again hacked public systems and networks to brand those of the Moira as the ones behind these terroristic acts. They still use their own name, but the images are different, focusing on familiar faces wearing the ship’s uniforms and traveling to the Aerospace to return to the Moira. Not only that, there are short recordings of Link’s final words that mention a very recognizable name: Captain Thán. The Komai have redirected the blame to the Moira and its crew for their own means, and in response, any and all crew who are captured by authorities will immediately be detained and shipped out to unknown locations. The Captains send a message via MID and request everyone return to the ship to prevent this from happening. Yet, not all messages will be delivered depending on how far away they are.

With everyone’s safety hanging in the balance, the Captains have decided to take things into their own hands and find a way to lift the block on the Moira so they can leave Emiri’s orbit and avoid further repercussions regardless of whether or not any one of the crew wants to stay.

☄ Second: DECOY & DISTRACT
After learning that Benjamin Link, son of recently deceased Frederick Link, knows how to unlock the ship so they can leave, the captains ask for volunteers to act as decoys on a mission to the Aerospace in Harashan. Their job is to distract guards and Emiri citizens, leaving the path clear for Benjamin to get to the computers. The captains reiterate that they are to use nonfatal methods as they don’t want a repeat of the events on Caducus Primary. Without his help, the ship won’t be able to leave, making this mission critical and extremely time sensitive.

☄ Third: RESCUE
During the mission, Benjamin informs the crew that the Komai aren’t incorrect in their claims that Link’d Inc uses unforgivable means to obtain information in order to make their matches perfect. The children the crew dreamed about are just two of many—the offspring of Emirian citizens who had gone missing. It has long been suspected that Link’d Inc was involved in their disappearances, but only recently has the Komai done anything to shed light on these gruesome rumors. Benjamin, after successfully unlocking the ship, disables the security systems in St. Murtel, which will allow the children a chance to escape. They’ll need assistance in getting out of St. Murtel and to a pre-designated area in Avelle where a group of Komai and Emirians will be waiting for them.

But be careful. If anyone is recognized as part of the crew, they will be placed under arrest for treason and possibly never heard from again.

☄ Fourth: BREAKING OUT
Now that the computer systems in Harashan’s Aerospace have been used to release the Moira, the entire crew are being called back via MID for an expedient exit from Emiri. Crew will be asked to assist other Moirans in getting back to the ship as quickly as possible via transporters or other small crafts as leaving is their only option at this point. In the escape, Emiri launches an attack on the Moira in an attempt to stop them. The ship’s previously unused defense systems activate, and those assigned to those positions are required to man their posts. Perhaps even those who don’t have the clearance are needed. Either way, it’s time to leave.

☄ Fifth: REFUGEES
Now that the ship has finally escaped Emiri’s orbit, the crew will notice a group of stragglers in the main hall. During the crew’s quick exit, about fifty Emirians have taken refuge aboard the Moira, and the captains have agreed to take them to the closest planet so they may start again or live a life free of Link’d Inc “rule”. The captains ask the crew to help get them clothes and food for their short stay, no longer than a day at most, and to occupy them as best they can. Tell jokes, sing songs, bring up the kittens so that everyone can attempt to wind down after this series of unfortunate events. Light entertainment won’t be provided, but on request, some crew members may do just that.

Normally Yata wouldn't pay much attention to someone that opens up a conversation with the first half of a joke, but... Well, for all of the strange sights he's seen so far, Sans is still one of the strangest. Yata stares and leans forward, expression both skeptical and wary.

"Are you supposed to be some kind of skeleton?" He completely ignores the attempted joke, of course. Right now Sans is a little too odd for Yata to just go along with things.

[personal profile] skelepun 2016-02-04 12:51 am (UTC)(link)
Inwardly, Sans sighed. So many new people and so few of them knew how the whole knock-knock rodeo worked. They must come from timelines even more unfortunate than his.

"Some kind, yeah." Sans grinned, enigmatic as ever, before extending his hand. "Are you supposed to be some kind of human?"

[personal profile] skatebird 2016-02-04 03:52 am (UTC)(link)
"Some kind." It's a more clever remark than Yata usually pulls off, but it's also the most natural one to give in this mostly unnatural sort of encounter. He gives Sans's hand one last wary look before he reaches out to accept it. He's half expecting there to be some sort of weird touch of death thing going on...

... but he remains alive after a few moments and there's a subtle but perceptible unwinding of tension in his frame. Alright then. Skeleton confirmed, pulse confirmed. Yata is safe (for now).

And also aware that Sans had said hello first. "Uh-- who's there?"
skelepun: ([sans] 46)

[personal profile] skelepun 2016-02-04 09:37 pm (UTC)(link)
For now.

There's a glint of rejuvenated glee in Sans' cavernous sockets when Yata picks up that old discarded thread. Withdrawing his hand into his jacket pocket, Sans winked conspiratorially.

"Nana."

[personal profile] skatebird 2016-02-05 12:31 am (UTC)(link)
Actually, isn't it kinda unusually bizarre for a skeleton to walk around telling jokes like some kid? Even for a place like this? Despite himself Yata can't help but look a little curious, and maybe just the tiniest bit excited, as he responds.

"Nana who?"

Surely a skeleton will have some sort of interesting joke, right?
skelepun: ([sans] 33)

[personal profile] skelepun 2016-02-05 12:36 am (UTC)(link)
Sorry, Yata. You are about to be sorely disappointed.

"Nana your business!" Sans beamed, punctuating the awful punchline with a quick fingergun in his direction.
skatebird: (ʙᴀʙʏ i couldn't breathe)

[personal profile] skatebird 2016-02-05 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
"Wha--"

Yata blinks. Stares. And then he heaves a huge sigh. He no longer looks angry but he does look pretty resigned.

"Seriously? That was terrible." It's not like he'd been expecting something revolutionary from a knock knock joke, but still...! "Even my kid siblings would think that was lame."
skelepun: ([sans] 37)

[personal profile] skelepun 2016-02-05 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
In the wake of his sigh, Sans fired off another finger gun. Just in case.

"Well there's your problem. Kid siblings have to groan over that stuff. Just ask my bro."
skatebird: (ᴡʜᴇʀᴇ i'm weak)

[personal profile] skatebird 2016-02-05 01:00 am (UTC)(link)
Whatever protest that Yata had been about to make (that his jokes were definitely not lame and his little siblings thought he was the coolest person in the universe) is lost in the face of something far more interesting.

"Woah, hold on. Skeletons can have brothers?" And even kid brothers, apparently.
skelepun: (smug)

[personal profile] skelepun 2016-02-06 04:52 am (UTC)(link)
"Sure can." Sans nodded, rocking back and forth on his heels. "My bro's the coolest. Very tall. Very intimidating. You can't miss him. Why d'ya ask?"
skatebird: (ɪ was thinking)

[personal profile] skatebird 2016-02-06 10:46 pm (UTC)(link)
"Cause you're... you know, a skeleton." Yata's tone suggests his answer should be obvious, even though it obviously isn't. "Skeletons can't have babies. You need organs and stuff for that."
skelepun: ([sans] 54)

[personal profile] skelepun 2016-02-06 11:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Truth be told, Sans never anticipated having to give that talk to a human. Hell, he'd never even given it to Papyrus. Needless to say, the sudden topic shift actually left him a little flustered.

Or at least, as flustered as Sans was capable of.

"Whoa, kiddo, heh heh. Isn't that a little preg-sumptuous?"
skatebird: (ғʀᴏᴍ your knife)

[personal profile] skatebird 2016-02-08 01:06 am (UTC)(link)
"It's--" Damn, really? First knock knock jokes and now terrible puns. Yata's beginning to regret responding to this guy.

On the other hand, he doesn't regret that he's been given an ironclad excuse to change his mind on pursuing this particular line of thought.

"... Ugh. Never mind." Subject change, subject change. "So-- are you and your brother the only skeletons here?"
skelepun: (wink)

[personal profile] skelepun 2016-02-10 01:53 am (UTC)(link)
"Unless you're counting the one you're sporting, then yep. Just the two of us. Though we aren't the only monsters, there's another little kid running around here somewhere." Not that Yata knew the child looked like a goat, so Sans would forgive a non-reaction to that joke. "Why, you lookin' to join up?"
skatebird: (ʙᴀʙʏ i couldn't breathe)

[personal profile] skatebird 2016-02-18 01:21 am (UTC)(link)
"No thanks." Yata rather likes having skin and organs and all those other things he'd lose if he became a skeleton.

More importantly, there's another issue at hand he considered more pressing. "You said there was a kid running around? Like an elementary school kid?" He seems kinda worried about the idea, but mostly irritated. Adult are one thing, but if they're dragging children into this mess...
skelepun: ([sans] 29)

[personal profile] skelepun 2016-02-23 09:03 am (UTC)(link)
There's faint amusement in Sans' eye sockets, but the pleasant kind. Good to see there were people with moral compasses around here. A good SOUL was always nice to see.

"Yeah, but don't worry -- most of the crew is good people. They'll look out for 'em. Can't imagine anyone wanting to hurt a kid around here, anyway."
skatebird: (ᴡʜᴇʀᴇ i'm weak)

[personal profile] skatebird 2016-02-24 11:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Yata still seems a bit skeptical, but after a moment he nods.

"Guess it makes sense if we're all stuck here together." They're pretty much forced to rely on each other at this point, and he can't imagine that someone that hurts kids is going to be very popular. "Are there a lot of kids here, or is it just him?"
skelepun: ([sans] 34)

[personal profile] skelepun 2016-02-26 07:37 am (UTC)(link)
"I haven't met everyone on this boat yet, it's pretty big, but I haven't seen many others." That he knows, anyway. "Seems like the Ingress prefers us fight-ready. Can't imagine why."

With the clear implication that yes. Yes, he could imagine why.

"Hah. No kidding." Yata doesn't actually sound amused, of course. Sans' comment gets him to thinking, however, and after a moment:

"You think they're expecting a fight at the end of the ride?" Yata's knows the Moria is headed somewhere, at least, even if he hasn't paid much attention to 'where' or 'why'.
