"There will be no prison which can hold our movement down."

The Ingress has pulled you in. Your body experiences several sensations at once: being pushed forward as if a hand is resting on your back, momentary and startling blindness, a gentle ringing in your head. You have difficulty discerning whether it is hot or cold, but where you have been prodded is noticeably warmer than the rest of you. Some may suffer from dizziness while others are perfectly fine. Once equilibrium has been reestablished, you will notice you are standing on a long platform and that the room is filled with a soft cerulean light. It's slightly humid and dark despite the glow around you, and nothing is familiar.

Yet, unlike most new crew arrivals, this one is in the middle of chaos.

Despite more recent events, the planet of Emiri is not as peaceful as it once was. Frederick Link is still missing, and the authorities of Emiri have yet to lift the interplanetary ban they have placed on all space crafts docked at the aerospace. The captains previous held a meeting asking crew for any and all information that might help them locate the Komai, a mysterious group determined to undermine Link'd Inc's work providing flourishing matches across the universe by causing random acts of violence and protest across the three main cities: Harashan, Avelle, and St. Murtel. These things have led to mass arrests as well as an unsettling atmosphere spreading across the planet, and since a previous broadcast, things are beginning to escalate.

A downward spiral of these events begins as soon as new arrivals start to leave the Ingress—an unmarked box arrives in the cargo bay addressed to the inhabitants of the Moira. As per his job, Niko Bellic is the one to discover this box and open it. For some, the contents may be particularly gruesome. Link’s body is inside, clothed in a simple white button-down and pants (no shoes), and it looks as if letters have begun to bleed through the material. Anyone with expert knowledge of torture may note that Link was, in fact, tortured for information, and those letters? The writing itself spells out the name St. Murtel.

The captains, having been alerted of this, make an attempt to contact those at Link’d Inc. Unfortunately, the damage has already been done.

☄ First: MISCOMMUNICATION
Somehow, whether intentional or not, the Komai have once again hacked public systems and networks to brand those of the Moira as the ones behind these terroristic acts. They still use their own name, but the images are different, focusing on familiar faces wearing the ship’s uniforms and traveling to the Aerospace to return to the Moira. Not only that, there are short recordings of Link’s final words that mention a very recognizable name: Captain Thán. The Komai have redirected the blame to the Moira and its crew for their own means, and in response, any and all crew who are captured by authorities will immediately be detained and shipped out to unknown locations. The Captains send a message via MID and request everyone return to the ship to prevent this from happening. Yet, not all messages will be delivered depending on how far away they are.

With everyone’s safety hanging in the balance, the Captains have decided to take things into their own hands and find a way to lift the block on the Moira so they can leave Emiri’s orbit and avoid further repercussions regardless of whether or not any one of the crew wants to stay.

☄ Second: DECOY & DISTRACT
After learning that Benjamin Link, son of recently deceased Frederick Link, knows how to unlock the ship so they can leave, the captains ask for volunteers to act as decoys on a mission to the Aerospace in Harashan. Their job is to distract guards and Emiri citizens, leaving the path clear for Benjamin to get to the computers. The captains reiterate that they are to use nonfatal methods as they don’t want a repeat of the events on Caducus Primary. Without his help, the ship won’t be able to leave, making this mission critical and extremely time sensitive.

☄ Third: RESCUE
During the mission, Benjamin informs the crew that the Komai aren’t incorrect in their claims that Link’d Inc uses unforgivable means to obtain information in order to make their matches perfect. The children the crew dreamed about are just two of many—the offspring of Emirian citizens who had gone missing. It has long been suspected that Link’d Inc was involved in their disappearances, but only recently has the Komai done anything to shed light on these gruesome rumors. Benjamin, after successfully unlocking the ship, disables the security systems in St. Murtel, which will allow the children a chance to escape. They’ll need assistance in getting out of St. Murtel and to a pre-designated area in Avelle where a group of Komai and Emirians will be waiting for them.

But be careful. If anyone is recognized as part of the crew, they will be placed under arrest for treason and possibly never heard from again.

☄ Fourth: BREAKING OUT
Now that the computer systems in Harashan’s Aerospace have been used to release the Moira, the entire crew are being called back via MID for an expedient exit from Emiri. Crew will be asked to assist other Moirans in getting back to the ship as quickly as possible via transporters or other small crafts as leaving is their only option at this point. In the escape, Emiri launches an attack on the Moira in an attempt to stop them. The ship’s previously unused defense systems activate, and those assigned to those positions are required to man their posts. Perhaps even those who don’t have the clearance are needed. Either way, it’s time to leave.

☄ Fifth: REFUGEES
Now that the ship has finally escaped Emiri’s orbit, the crew will notice a group of stragglers in the main hall. During the crew’s quick exit, about fifty Emirians have taken refuge aboard the Moira, and the captains have agreed to take them to the closest planet so they may start again or live a life free of Link’d Inc “rule”. The captains ask the crew to help get them clothes and food for their short stay, no longer than a day at most, and to occupy them as best they can. Tell jokes, sing songs, bring up the kittens so that everyone can attempt to wind down after this series of unfortunate events. Light entertainment won’t be provided, but on request, some crew members may do just that.

riot time

Outside chasing us?

[It's like a cartoon chase scene out here, honestly. Wanda's in one of her more practical Emirian outfits, the green dress with the black vest. Even so, it's not quite enough to be more than flimsy camouflage. Not being able to take the MID off is a problem.]

If we could make them fight each other...
rraidergirl: (She will never be satisfied)

[personal profile] rraidergirl 2016-02-02 06:53 am (UTC)(link)
[ Were the stakes not quite so high and the situation so dire, Lara might have outright laughed. As it was, she bit her lower lip, poorly stifling a smile. ]

Now that... That might not be a bad idea. [ She gestures for Wanda to follow her down a different alleyway, the hubbub of Avelle's restless nightlife flowing on the main streets, an undercurrent of tension humming just below. ] Any idea how we could make that happen?
seeingscarlet: (snark; i do bite my thumb sir)

[personal profile] seeingscarlet 2016-02-02 07:43 am (UTC)(link)
[She follows with a practiced quiet even in her boots.]

Lead part of one group to the other? And then make the Emirians angrier at the Komai than they are at us. [Easier than it sounds if she can slip into a group - Wanda's powers were made for this kind of mindfuckery.]

We only need one person to shout.
rraidergirl: (Glarin' and rarin' to brawl.)

[personal profile] rraidergirl 2016-02-02 08:12 am (UTC)(link)
Right, let's do that then.

[ She steps out of the alleyway and into the press of bodies, stooping once to pick up a rock and slide it into her pocket. Not large enough to kill anyone, but nothing adds power to a shout like a thrown stone. ]

[Wanda nods once and slips into the other side of the crowd. She moves to the back, where no one's watching, and picks her target: a burly man who looks like he won't be as likely to get hurt. It's simple enough from there: a vision that repeats images from the broadcast is all it takes for him to stride forward, shouting about the Komai and their lies and how they've just assaulted him again.

Perfect. Your move, Lara.]
rraidergirl: (Not throwing away my shot)

[personal profile] rraidergirl 2016-02-04 02:14 am (UTC)(link)
[ That certainly does grab attention, and a soft sympathetic murmur running through the crowd. Lara slides through it, palming the rock and waiting, listening as the murmur grows, voices raising to be heard over the slow, steady increase in noise.

She waits until she hears an argument. What about security? What has Link'd Inc done to protect them?! How can you say- She elbows the man next to her, steps away as he spins to shout at the person he thinks is responsible. The noise grows as a patrol rounds the corner. There.

The stone flies out of the crowd, bouncing off the body armor of one of the security personnel. The street goes dead silent. And then the shouting begins.

[Now all the need is the final spark. Something bigger, something both sides can blame on the other...hmmmmm.

Her eyes dart around. There has to be something she could use - aha. There's a flagpole outside one of the buildings...or perhaps was is about to be more appropriate.

Lara might recognize the telltale red energy, that it imploded instead of exploding, but everyone else is so keyed up they don't care. The street erupts into pandemonium now and it's all Wanda can do not to be trampled underfoot. She's slowly trying to make her way back to the alley, though.]
rraidergirl: (We take an honest stand)

[personal profile] rraidergirl 2016-02-04 09:26 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Lara glances around, but the crowd is too focused on what's happening on the ground. People are peering out of windows, doors flying open and more voices are joining the fray.

She pushes her way through the crowd, quick and quiet, barely making it back to the alley as the growing crowd begins to sweep down the street amid the sound of shouting and breaking glass. She keeps a sharp eye out for Wanda, ready to reach into the crowd and pull her out if need be.

[She might need to - Wanda may have experience with situations like this, but not everyone in the crowd is human, the tech is different, and she's just smaller and lighter than many of the now-rioters.

This is normally when Pietro would grab her and force a way to safety. Operating alone is still difficult sometimes.

She's having a little trouble on this last stretch - all of these people shoving are bigger than she is - and she can't risk a display of her powers or this riot might turn on her A hand might be appreciated.]
rraidergirl: (Remember how to smile)

[personal profile] rraidergirl 2016-02-07 10:22 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Lara moves the moment she spots Wanda and sees her struggling in the crowd. Her hand dives into the crowd, shoving bodies aside (and riling up everyone more, though thankfully none turn their attention on the two women) to grab Wanda's hand and haul her out.

Lara's grinning a little manically, tugging them back into the shadows of the alley.
]

That worked rather well.
seeingscarlet: (witch; 031)

[personal profile] seeingscarlet 2016-02-08 07:54 am (UTC)(link)
[Wanda manages to keep her feet mostly under her as she's tugged back to the alley. That almost ended badly, but she still feels a familiar rush of excitement from their success.]

Almost too well. Thank you.

[There's something sharp and dangerous in her grin.] The police will come to stop this. If there is a way to slow them, we should try.
rraidergirl: (She will never be satisfied)

[personal profile] rraidergirl 2016-02-09 04:01 am (UTC)(link)
[ Lara grins back, something hot and wild fluttering in her chest. It's like not like Yamatai, but had she felt any different when she'd gotten her hands on the grenade launcher and heard the men hunting her leap away in fear? So... A bit like Yamatai. ]

I'm game. Maybe we can block the roads somehow, make getting around harder.

[ She tugs on Wanda's hand, leading her back down the alley, further away from the ongoing noise and chaos until they come upon a large truck. ]

We could flip a truck.
seeingscarlet: (witch; how about no)

[personal profile] seeingscarlet 2016-02-09 04:10 am (UTC)(link)
[Well, that's simple enough. Wanda raises her free hand and the truck follows her directions, moving into the middle of the road and landing on its side.

...life's easier with telekinesis.]

Do you think it's enough? I could pull down those signs, those gates...
rraidergirl: (Glarin' and rarin' to brawl.)

[personal profile] rraidergirl 2016-02-09 04:49 am (UTC)(link)
[ Honestly, how had Lara gotten anything done before she met Wanda? She's nodding before Wanda's even finished speaking, feeling nearly light headed with the reckless adrenalin flowing through her. ]

Do it.
seeingscarlet: (concern; what did you do)

[personal profile] seeingscarlet 2016-02-10 07:12 pm (UTC)(link)
[But Wanda's weirdness and too much adrenaline can be a bad combination. She rips the signs down in one fluid motion and pulls the gates through the truck, leaving pieces of both sticking out in completely unnatural spikes.

Oops.

It's enough to make Wanda take a mental step back from the edge, to let all those fears about going too far resurface.]

I think...I think that is enough. We should go.
rraidergirl: (curiouser and curiouser)

[personal profile] rraidergirl 2016-02-11 05:45 pm (UTC)(link)
[ The ease and the force that she tears the truck apart with is thrilling and terrifying. Lara's breath catches, eyes going wide.

She glances at Wanda and nods.
]

I think you're right.
