[ York grins, the curve of his mouth also visible to Kurt even if he can't see the whole smile. It's warm and comfortable, and he's solid to lean on if Kurt wants. ]

What for? Shouldn't I be the one thanking you right now?

[And he'd love to, but he already feels like he might be imposing with the slight weight he's got on York just sitting beside him.]

Perhaps. I'm thanking you, though, for being there when you didn't have to be.

[ Maybe he didn't have to be, but he wanted to be. And still does. ]

I'll always be there for you, Kurt. Maybe I get kinda busy but you can always call me.

[York's response makes him inhale sharply, eyebrows knitting together in a somewhat confused fashion before he shakes his head and averts his gaze.]

I can't ask you to do that, York.

You're not asking anything, I'm offering.

Kurt, if I found out something was wrong I could have helped with and you didn't call, that's way worse than being interrupted.

Point made, [Kurt concedes, hands raising to sheepishly wave it off. He hadn't meant to make a big deal out of it or anything.

Cue that mischievous glint in his eyes while he places a hand at his chin.] ... so, does this mean I can call you if I need help with my homework?

[ York quirks an eyebrow -- he doesn't know how much help he'd really be at homework. ]

You can but if you want a good grade I don't think I'm the best choice.

[Don't worry, York. There's a likely chance that Kurt won't actually need help.]

And why is that? You're plenty smart.

[infailtration]

Well yeah. [ He grins as if he agrees. He's smart, sure. But. ] My education was probably really different from yours, that's all. And it was cut short -- we were in the middle of a war. I didn't finish high school, I was drafted.

[shadowblends]

[Which, in turn, makes Kurt also smile. Good to know York believes he's intelligent.] Oh, ah— I suppose that would make it difficult to finish school. Different how, though?
