Who: Hawke, Pepper Pots, and Tony Stark When: During when the new arrivals show up Where: The medical tent mostly What: Hawke is an amazing hero who rescued the princess and Tony Stark better not hate and start to appreciate. Warnings: Quips.
[Hawke, for once in her goddamn life, actually listens and does what Elena says. Or tries to. It's funny that's comforting in a way because it reminds her of when she was younger and would struggle to breath when she was ill or upset (not that she ever realized these were the same things), her father would tell her the same thing.
"Breath deep, little bird, or else you'll turn blue in the face and that won't go well with your eyes".
So she does with much coughing and wheezing. But thankfully after a few minutes she manages to take a breath that actually feels like a real breath.]
I guess I'll make it another day. I feel sick though so you might want to-
[She gestures incase Elena wants to move out of the line of fire.]
[ It's easy for her to slide sideways and out of the way, just in case. She moves to sit more off to her side, a bit behind her. Elena's glad that the technique had helped, relieved to know she could help her. ]
And you'll make it through the day after that and for the next while. Feeling sick, yeah, that...happens.
[ NOT going to go into the stories of her dry heaving or actually dumping out her stomach on Nate or within the vicinity of him. ]
But for now she just drops to her hands and knees and heaves up a sad mixture of stomach acid and water since she hasn't been able to keep much else down. After she finishes heaving she settles back against the pole, trying to catch her breath.
Oh, yeah Elena is still here. Hawke glances to the side at her.]
Sorry you had to see that. I can't imagine watching a grown woman vomit was something you looked forward to seeing today.
[Hawke doesn't usually apologize for puking. It happens. But something about subjecting Elena to it seems shameful.]
It's not the worst thing I have to look forward to.
[ There's worse now, much worse.
With some effort, Elena goes to stand. She needs to get her arm out of her sling and stretch it a bit, it's begun to stiffen up, but it's always so frustratingly annoying to try. So...she doesn't. She reaches into her pac instead to pull out a bottle of water, holding it out for Hawke. ]
Here. I'll go get something to clean that up with.
[The idea of Elena cleaning up her vomit makes her just want to puke more so she can choke on it and die right then and there and spare everyone this awkwardness.
So she stands probably too quickly for her own good, wobbles, grips the tentpole for support.]
[Hawke replies stupidly as she takes the water. Of course she can clean with an injured arm. She doesn't mean to insult Elena. But it's more of the principle of the thing.
Which is strange because Hawke generally doesn't quite understand principles.]
It's not as exciting as it sounds. I've been there.
[Hawke takes the water, takes a drink, and makes a face at the taste of puke in her mouth. Then she shakes her head and makes a valiant effort to stand without leaning on the poll.]
For once in my life I'll take responsibility. Besides, I've already napped today. Rest isn't needed. You can sleep too much, apparently.
[ Elena moves to lead her to where the cleaning gear would be, opening a short cabinet where shelves line the inside, supplies available for her to take. A roll of what looks like paper towel gets passed over. ]
Please tell Tony that. The sleeping too much is his theory.
[Hawke takes the paper towels, unrolls some sheets, and drops them on to the floor and in an incredible impression of a well adjusted person, cleans up her own vomit.]
That usually comes from people who don't sleep at all, or they can't.
[ She's ready with more handy if Hawke needs them, watching as she cleans the mess up. But then she looks away, looks around at the practically empty tent. ]
Maybe one of these days, when we really get settled in and there's a party, I'll ask you to dance.
[ She smiles over at her before moving away to begin tidying up some of the counters, putting things away. Her shift is just about over anyway, it'll be time to head out. ]
I think that's already been established that you hold a strange power over me. Are you sure you're not a mage?
[She sniffs before taking a sip of her water and yawning as Elena cleans up. She feels so tired that she debates just dropping onto the floor and napping right there. Adrien would probably be perturbed though.]
[ It's hard to say what Adrien would do; he might leave Hawke there to sleep, unless she's in the way. Elena on the other hand would push her to take a cot. ]
Don't know how that's even possible. On both accounts.
[Hawke wouldn't mind a cot except she finds the entire medical bay strange and uncomfortable and does her best to avoid it.
Covering up a yawn and shivering a little (she feels a bit like she has a mild case of the flu after coming down from the attack), she shrugs at the other woman.]
I don't doubt it. You come from a world where dragons exist.
[ With the tidying all done now, she motions to the entrance, heading for it. ]
We can head back to camp together if you want. I'll check on the kids and then probably grab some shut eye until Nate's back from whatever it is he's doing.
It's strange to me that your world doesn't have them. "Strange" really does require a certain perspective.
[Hawke blinks a few times, at this point she'd expected they'd both go their separate ways and pretend this incident never happened instead of continuing socializing together.
She scratches the back of her neck and then follows behind her.]
Dragons are more of a fantasy thing in my world. They only exist in stories and movies.
[ Being outside of the tent, it's good to be able to breathe in deep. It's also good to be outside of that environment where the smell of a clean hospital seems always stuck in her nose when she's on duty. She's gotten used to the small headaches the strong aroma of rubbing alcohol gives her. ]

No. You're not a maid... I'll.
[She blinks at the water bottle.]

[ Same goes for taking care of others, always.
Elena gives the bottle a shake when it's still in her hand. ]
It's water. It's safe. It's to wash out the taste, rinse your mouth out.

[ She's pleased when Hawke takes the water, smiling. ]
I mean, if you really want to mop up your own mess, I can't stop you... But you should be resting.
[ Says the one with the broken arm who's up and about with her work. ]

[She finishes cleaning and gingerly picks up the paper towels and tosses them in the bin.
Then she looks at Elena. At the empty beds. Then back at Elena.]
You want me to rest, don't you?
no subject
[ She brushes some hair off her brow. Something in her shoulders sags somewhat and she looks tired, really tired. ]
I was thinking more about myself. [ For once. ] Not here though.

no subject
How about we both go get some rest.

Over there.
