That I do not doubt.

[ Not anymore, although it's required Obi-Wan to change. In the months following their exile to this ship, the Jedi Master has nearly toppled the boundaries built by the indoctrination of the Order, however benevolent its origins. In time, he's learned the value of listening, and of love. He's come to understand the driving force of compassion and the need to accept that the Force is not as emotionless as the Order expects it to be. He's learned of family, too, and somehow earned himself one without all that much effort on his own part. It's strange, but not unwelcome. He's felt the need for a change since the Order began using Anakin like a tool.

Despite everything, he smiles.

You've always been one of my greatest friends. An ally that has served as a conscience as well. I would believe no one with the same certainty and in the same regard.

There will always be good in him.

[ And no small part of that is because of her. ]

[There are times in those early days when Padmé had thought him to be cold, to be uncaring, to be nothing at all like Anakin who had burned so bright that it was hard not to watch him. Yet, Padmé learned that it wasn't the case. Through Anakin she had come to know more about Jedi, those seemingly mysteries individuals that had seemed so calm and collected under any and all circumstances.

She knows that they had become a pair. Anakin and Obi-Wan. To say brothers wouldn't even begin to start to compose the relationship that they had had. A relationship that had frayed in the end, just as Padmé's own with Anakin had. But he still surprises her, even after all this time, he still surprises her.

Her hand reaches out, to lightly lay her fingers on his own wrist, and that faint trace of a genuine smile touches her lips.]

Thank you, Obi-Wan.

[Because whether he realizes it or not, his words do have a significant impact on her. He has fallen, she knows, but she means every word that she has said. The man she loves is still there, and now he will be without her, without anyone he knows. Alone.]
