[accepting his fate, riptide allowed magnus to drag him to his room, no longer fighting.

if he had more knowledge of the situation, he would respond differently. he doesn't, though, and all he knows is he takes part in something that results in all his friends being left for the djd. after everything he's experienced in regards to tarn aboard to moira, after everything everyone has done for him, he was still stupid and selfish enough to leave them all for dead.

these are things that riptide will wonder about until he's physically unable to stay awake anymore, but for now he just lets whatever's going to happen to him happen.]

[they didn't finish the wall.

riptide eventually gets sick of laying on his bed staring at it like a useless sack of shit and gets up, sliding off the berth to carefully press at the edges still sticking out awkwardly.

he still thinks the table looked fine where it was.

sighing, riptide gets to work. missing brainstorm and nautica intensely for a moment before telling himself he doesn't deserve to.]

I know it's not. [he mumbles.] But I'm not mad or anything about it. I deserved it, given what Magnus just came out of.

[he sighs.]

That's what I don't know. I don't know how all this time and space slag works! If it happened for Magnus then obviously when I come back it nothing has changed because he's still in the situation.

I'm not a scientist. Some days I wish I was so I could at least come up with plausible theories.

At the very least, worrying about what the future holds makes you miss out on what is going on now. That... That is something I know from experience.

There's not much wondering to do when they're against the DJD and an army. I think... it's pretty clear what's going to happen.

[not that he doesn't have faith in his friends, but... y'know.]

Don't count them out just yet. You know as well as I that there are some very resourceful people there.

...no, I don't know. Bee, should I even be upset about this? I don't know how I'm meant to feel. Everyone's come to try and comfort me but I'm the one that did the bad thing.

You know? I'm not sure myself. When you think about it, you're in a position not many will ever see themselves in. There's really no telling how you should feel. The important part is that you do.

Personally, I'd like to think that the future isn't set in stone. But I also know that worrying about the future means you might miss what is going on now.

[riptide vents heavily.]
