What: Directly after this. Peter really screwed up and now he's hanging out in the medbay until he recovers. Later he hangs out in the hold. Wanda's around to feild all your questions about how stupid her twin is.

[Allison is upset when she visits the medbay to make sure Peter isn't dead or dying or something. Upset. Angry, scared, sad, worthless... She's a mess, but she tries to keep it inside.

It makes her throat tight to see Peter so still in a hospital bed. Tears prick her eyes at the way Wanda holds his hand. She's talked with Wanda at the café, but never about Peter.

Allison is upset and the words slip out, hoarse and foolish.]

Was the other Peter this stupid? [A beat.] Fuck. No. I don't- that wasn't- sorry. I'm sorry. I- I'm sorry.

[The last apology is directed more at Peter's unconscious form than Wanda. She wipes her misty eyes.]

Pietro.

[The correction is numb and automatic; Wanda doesn't even look up. This is something she's asked herself over and over since she learned what happened. Would Pietro have told her sooner? Would he have even needed to?

Either way, she thinks this would have happened differently. Peter doesn't have the same life experiences and doesn't know to rely on her. He's too used to being the big brother, to expecting complete honesty from her while keeping anything dangerous safely out of her sight.

Maybe it was foolish to think that she could treat them both the same way.]

He's an older brother.

Sorry.

[She's so sorry about so many things, the top of which is about how useless she's been. Could she have done something to prevent this? Should she have known Peter was planning something? Was she too pathetic for him to even ask for her hell?

So many 'what ifs'.]

That's what he told me. [She gives a little laugh with little humor.] Even though you're older than him, he's still the older brother.

He was always more like a younger brother to me. Stupid, immature brat...

[She insults him because she's angry and she cares, and damn, now she's actually crying.]

[Wanda's sorry about a lot of things too. Maybe there was nothing she could have done to stop this, but it's hard not to second-guess letting Peter convince her to show him what happened to Pietro. She can't shake a lingering suspicion that it might have been what finally pushed Peter over the edge.

She looks back to him, eyes dry but distant. Crying came easier earlier in the day when she was alone.]

We will do terrible things for love.

[And the Maximoffs have never been the types to do things by halves.]

Shit. [Allison wipes at her eyes, then makes herself look at Wanda instead if Peter. It's too weird to see him lying still like that.

Love?]

Rinzler attacked him twice. And then he threatened me.

[So the aforementioned big brother instincts kicked in even though Wanda is more than capable of seriously messing someone up, even if they don't have a brain.]

That fucking guy... [She rubs harder at her face, more out of frustration than because of her tears now.]

The law on this ship is bullshit. This shouldn't happen. There should be people stopping this sort of crap before it gets this far. We shouldn't have to wait until murders happen before something gets done!

[This is why, if Peter had actually told her what was going on, she would have gone straight to Steve even if Avenger-ing isn't technically his job here. She trusts his ability to work out some sort of plan far more than the captains given their track record.]

They sent me to...interrogate Rinzler last time. [It is her job, after all, and they didn't know about her powers when they assigned her. Really, calling it "interrogation" means they don't expect her to be gentle about it.] I didn't touch him at all. Maybe I should have.

[Maybe she could have frightened Rinzler into leaving her family alone.]

Or maybe they should have kept him locked up. Or disarmed him. Or- or-

[She gives a frustrated growl, tugging at her hair.]

You shouldn't have to threaten people into not murdering people! They just shouldn't do it in the first place! It's common courtesy! I- just-

[She sags.] This is all such bullshit.

I don't know why they let him keep them. This wouldn't have happened if-

[If they insist on letting him go free, there's no reason, especially at this point, that Rinzler should be allowed to walk around armed. He doesn't need weapons for his job and clearly he can't be trusted not to attack people.

Peter may have provoked him this time, but the first time? His roommate? J? To say nothing of how he'd almost killed Bel and Tron months ago.]

If nothing changes this will happen again.

If nothing changes, I swear to god, I will kick every ass on the ship until something does.

[Except not actually. She's not any sort of fighter. But she can totally yell at people? Maybe?]

...I can talk to Elizabeth anyway.

[Or just chuck his weapons out the airlock. That's a helpful idea, right?]

I don't know if the captains will listen to her, but...they're not listening to us.

[They didn't even have any follow-up on the spacewalk fight aside from basically sending Rinzler and Peter back to their rooms.]

[Allison groans loudly and rubs her hands over her face.]

This is all such crap. I was never a political activist back home, but this space ship government is shit.

[Dropping her hands she stares at Peter.]

I just hope after all this he's okay...

He will be all right physically. Emotionally...

[Wanda will do her best but this was a rude awakening for him. And that's to say nothing of what the crew decides to do to him for attempted murder.]

That's our job.

Yeah. Yeah...

[Being a big sister is hard, and she's not even related to him. But there's no going back now, she actually cares about the little jerk.]

God, poor J, though...

Is there any news?

[Wanda doesn't really like J that much after their very bad first meeting and it's hard for her to get beyond thinking 'at least it wasn't Peter.' But Peter likes her, and Wanda remembers how devastated she'd been when her roommate hadn't come back after Ade killed her. She can manage enough caring for his sake.]

Nothing yet that I've heard.

[This is the first time someone she really knows has been murdered. Along with Peter's injuries it's kind of messing with her. She and J may not have got along great, but she still didn't want her to die.

She doesn't really want anyone to die. Not even Aurelia. Not even Rinzler.]

I just really wish people would stop killing each other... [She mumbles that bit, thinking out loud.]
