Pie for everyone
Who: Toriel & you!
When: April 2nd
Where: Mess Hall
What: Toriel announces on the network she's made Snail Pie. Clearly people should come and get some.
Warnings: Snail pie, monsters, shenanigans.
True to her word, Toriel has taken over a table in the mess hall to offer people some of her favorite type of pie.
A several paper plates are laid out along with borrowed utensils. On the table sits a uncovered snail pie. The pie itself smells savory and fresh. A tempting offer for any curious about what it could taste like. Newbies and oldies alike are welcome to approach the table.
Next to it is a covered dish. A firm 'Do not touch!' note settled atop it. Anyone who touches it will get a firm reprimand from the monster seated at the table.
Toriel herself is settled back in a chair, drinking some tea. Anyone who approaches will earn a friendly smile and greeting from the 6'9 boss monster.
"Ah, hello! Would you like a slice of pie, dear?"

"I also should warn you, dear it is a snail pie." Whilst it could be amusing to see the young man eat some of the pie to only realize what it was later- Toriel isn't really one for trickery. A good prank when deserved is amusing, but witholding information isn't fair.

But Toriel is a friend--more specifically, she's a friend of Frisk's, who is someone he would like to continue being 'friends' with, as best as he can right now. And he has nothing he dislikes about her, except perhaps for his continued ambivalence about the concept of a 'monster' being so different from that of a 'human.'
Which isn't Toriel's fault in the slightest and has no bearing at all on the topic of pie, so there's no reason not to accept her generosity and take a slice, right? But also:
"Oh, I didn't know you baked!"

screamagerteenager. "I do. It is one of my hobbies." She motioned for Kaworu to take a seat. Frisk's odd friend easily earned warmth from the boss monster."If you would like one, I can serve you a slice." Any friend of her child was going to earn some gentle doting from the boss monster.

Her gaze wanders, switching between the pie and the woman sitting before it.
"Maybe. What kinda pie is it?"
no subject
"A snail pie." Toriel half expects the redhead to reel back at that bit of news. Humans oddly seem wary of a snail pie. Really, Toriel has to wonder why. "It is one of my favorites, I thought I would share it with everyone else as well."
no subject
"Huh? Aren't pies supposed to be sweet...?" The question is asked in a low grumble, like she's trying to determine whether or not this is just a trick.

"Hmm... I've never had anything like that, y'know." She pulls out a chair and flops down in it. She rolls her shoulders in an only half-successful effort to seem nonchalant. "Guess I wouldn't mind trying it."

She settles a slice onto a paper plate and passes Kyoko a fork. "I am Toriel by the way. It is very nice to meet you, young lady."

She looks back to the dish, interest clearly more on the prospect of food than the woman in front of her. She does spare her a little smile, some basic manners slipping through into a greeting and little wave. "Hi."
no subject
"Hello." She adds with a pleased smile, placing the slice of pie on a paper plate and sliding utensils over to the child. Whenever The Girl digs in, she'll discover the pie is in fact still incredibly warm.

"Thanks," she says as she takes the plate, disregarding that they'd in a room full of chairs and plopping directly on the ground. She balances the plate on her knees, breaking off a hunk with the fork and cramming it into her mouth. It's apparent her knowledge of basic manners never extending to that to be used at a table. She hums as she chews, eyes closing for a moment in bliss. It's a different sort of taste then she's used to, but nothing so bad as expired canned goods or any of the questionable food choices from home. Better than lizard, at any rate. She opens her eyes and grins up at Toriel as she swallows. "It's good!"

The boss monster raises a brow at the child plopping down on the floor. She doesn't question it, more content to let the girl be comfortable whilst eating. The compliment earns a smile from Toriel. "Thank you." She's glad the child enjoys the pie.
"Do you want anything to drink, dear?"
no subject
She shrugs at the question, used to having to take one over the other when it came to food and drink. "I guess." She looks toward the kitchens, standing carefully. She still clutches the plate as she starts to walk over.

"Hey, mom! I'm all done now!"

"We can have something to eat." She didn't miss that annoyance, so she offers the child a slight out. "Something besides pie since I've made it to share with others."
no subject
"Are you sure?" They try their best to look somewhat reluctant, but their relief is just a bit too palpable. "There's still a lot left...um, but everyone should get a chance to try it, I guess!"
no subject
"Which leaves us with the next question, what do you want to eat for a meal, my child?" The mess hall always has a variety of options, even with what supplies they have.

Sorry, Tori, your roommate keeps weird hours.
He's a little awkward in the mess hall, still learning the lay of the room and half-distracted minding that he's not ending up catching some stray chair with a wing or his tail.
"How much did you manage to make?" He's not sure how many people are on the ship, but it's got to be a job to make enough for everyone.

She rises from her chair to properly greet the young man with a friendly touch on the arm. Living in such close quarters with someone certainly makes Toriel friendlier around her roommate. "I've only really made a single pie, but- it's lasted quite well."
At this point there are three slices left. "Would you like some, Kain?"
no subject
"If it's alright." He's giving it a brief, confused look. "I would've thought free fresh-made food would've vanished faster than that."
no subject
"Most were willing to try, which was heartening."
