"all we see is nothing but empty spaces"

Since leaving the Mini Colony behind, the crew has been as busy as ever trying to find a quicker way to the Midway Hub—thus a faster way home. With the help of several people, as well as the presence of the Captains (both old and new), some progress has been made. Through this process, a vote was taken to name the “new species” that Ploiatos has become due a malfunction of the Ingress, and the general consensus has settled on Mirtis (meer-tees).

While the research continues to move forward at a startlingly fast rate due to the crew stumbling across Ploiatos’ workroom, the Moira’s Navigator’s health has been slowly declining. After learning that Manasseh was intricately connected with the ship, it’s easier to see why harm to the Moira had affected her; like the effects from the Caducan glass. Crew can see her going to and from the Medbay, her outward appearance slowly shifting into something that is eerily similar to that of Ploiatos. After a remark from one of the crew members about this, the Captains realize that either Ploiatos itself, the Ingress machine, or a combination of the two have begun changing Mana. And not for the better. In an attempt to keep the Moira functioning properly and to remove Mana from danger, Medbay and any tech staff, led by previous Captain Cúrre separate her completely from the Moira. In what seems like good fortune, the disjunction goes well for the Navigator, and the ship continues to run for a few days without any hitches.

The Captains had announced prior what the procedure was for and when it would be completed and have sent out a follow-up message informing the crew of what’s currently going on. Unfortunately, in true Moiran fashion, Ploiatos had been using a tenuous connection with Mana to try and gain hold of the ship, and ultimately, the Ingress. When the Navigator is separated, Ploiatos’ hold becomes complete as she, unbeknownst to anyone else, had kept Ploiatos at bay, and the ship begins to change.

DEEP IN DECAY
When you wake up, everything aboard the Moira is dim. Maybe it’s not so unusual given the time, though there are some peculiar things about this day on the ship. There’s an acrid smell to the walls, as if something is growing where something else has died, and the air is denser, sparked with a strange energy that can be felt all around—like the static before a storm. It doesn’t take long to learn that there are also visible differences to parts of the ship. The ground has a spongy feel to it when you walk, and each step you take glows softly underfoot before slowly fading away. Too many times across the floors like this, and you begin to feel tired, sleepy. As if the very energy inside you is being drained away. Anywhere that you come into contact with the ship results in the same drowsy, exhausted effects. Luckily, certain areas will be less affected than others and offer a safer place to rest, regroup, and wait it out.

PACK IT UP
Even with the current events and how they’re affecting the ship, preparations still need to be made for their arrival at the Midway Hub. In an effort to keep on track with these plans, Captain Ira and First Mate Egan introduce a device that makes carrying personal belongings easier and more efficient. Each crew member is given a small, palm-sized disc with a single impression in its center and its corresponding holding container. (Usually, this is a clear carrying case, but some have converted the disc into a more wearable option.) When the first is placed on an item (clothes, bed, ship, etc.), it scans and then readjusts the matter, shrinking it down and placing it inside. Anything crew want to take with them when they leave the Moira should be stored and packed away. If there is a public item on the ship that crew believe should go with them, simply ask the other Moirans and then store it inside the PacDisc for easy travel. (A PacDisc code can be found here.)

[It does take her a moment to even realize that the world had been shifting, or maybe she had been the one shifting. The touch on her shoulders to keep her from getting intimate with the floor does jolt her enough, although her actions are still sluggish as she seeks to regain her footing.]

Oh, no, that wasn't- [Although Padmé's words are cut off by another yawn, blinking rapidly to try to keep her eyes open.] Sorry, and thank you. I don't- [Yet a bigger yawn now.] Don't know what came over me.
brokeassgoing: (i'm possibly listening)

[personal profile] brokeassgoing 2016-11-10 04:37 am (UTC)(link)
[he steadies her, then lets his hands rest at his sides once he's sure.

but this whole....weariness. This isn't normal. Its shipwide.]

Probably subliminal insomnia around this shithole. S'like everyone's got it.
democratically: (we must)

[personal profile] democratically 2016-11-12 04:18 am (UTC)(link)
[Her hand raises to her lips, to hide another yawn that dares to escape.]

Subliminal... insomnia? [And leaning a bit toward the wall to keep her up.] If so... I wonder how.
brokeassgoing: (nostalgia huh)

[personal profile] brokeassgoing 2016-11-12 05:05 am (UTC)(link)
You ever heard of microwaves? Through the airwaves and shit? Could be that.

[he doesn't wanna sound like a conspiracy theorist but]
democratically: (picnic confused)

[personal profile] democratically 2016-11-12 07:37 pm (UTC)(link)
It's radiation, it's it?

[As what he is talking about might not quite compute to what Padmé is familiar with.]
brokeassgoing: (this bitch ass face)

[personal profile] brokeassgoing 2016-11-13 03:13 am (UTC)(link)
Got it in one. [as far as he knows] In space, who knows what kinda shit can infect us. Do we get booster shots when we come through the Ingress? We just don't know.
democratically: (is how)

[personal profile] democratically 2016-11-13 04:31 am (UTC)(link)
[She had had a very thorough scan herself, not quite understanding how she was even alive, after the initial examination.]

Would the ship not be able to detect any abnormal levels?

[Although Padmé finds herself giving yet another yawn.]

Unless it is something new.
brokeassgoing: (lets not go there)

[personal profile] brokeassgoing 2016-11-13 05:31 am (UTC)(link)
Probably...but would they tell us?

[it could be something new too...he just doesn't know enough to know aside from half-baked theories]

They seem pretty informed.
democratically: (is it)

[personal profile] democratically 2016-11-13 11:33 pm (UTC)(link)
[Her eyebrows do furrow together, her mind seemingly sluggish and slow.]

Surely the medical staff can scan for something.

[For what, she isn't entirely certain, and the thought does trail off as she blinks owlishly again. Truth be told, a nap is sounding very good at the moment.]
brokeassgoing: (horrified)

[personal profile] brokeassgoing 2016-11-14 01:18 am (UTC)(link)
Hell if I know-- they're definitely grumpy to poor bastards like me. Must be the lack of insurance. Do we even got insurance up here?

[its all getting jumbled]
democratically: (picnic confused)

[personal profile] democratically 2016-11-14 09:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Insurance?

[Not making the connection at the moment like she might otherwise be able to do were her mind fully focused.]

For what?
brokeassgoing: (SOS)

[personal profile] brokeassgoing 2016-11-15 01:56 am (UTC)(link)
For your health. Y'know...I figure since we're workin' for em its probably not so shitty.

democratically: (picnic confused)

[personal profile] democratically 2016-11-17 03:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh. I've never had health insurance.

[And her premiums likely would have been high anyway. Plenty of people did try to kill her back home.]
brokeassgoing: (say whatchu wanna saaaaaay)

[personal profile] brokeassgoing 2016-11-18 03:20 am (UTC)(link)
[he visibly deflates]

Well shit. Must be nice...once upon a time you had to have it or it was against the law.
democratically: (what's the matter)

[personal profile] democratically 2016-11-20 05:08 am (UTC)(link)
Truly?

[It is an odd notion.]

And those who could not afford it?
brokeassgoing: (lets not go there)

[personal profile] brokeassgoing 2016-11-20 05:31 am (UTC)(link)
They were fucked.

[simple as that]
democratically: (what's the matter)

[personal profile] democratically 2016-11-20 06:06 am (UTC)(link)
... I assume metaphorically.
brokeassgoing: (can i get a puff puff)

[personal profile] brokeassgoing 2016-11-20 06:20 am (UTC)(link)
If they ain't lucky about it, sure.
democratically: (picnic confused)

[personal profile] democratically 2016-11-20 06:03 pm (UTC)(link)
That's ridiculous! [Although her indignation is punctured by another yawn, which rather cuts her statement off.]
brokeassgoing: (i wonder)

[personal profile] brokeassgoing 2016-11-21 02:39 am (UTC)(link)
The fucking part or...?
democratically: (seated)

[personal profile] democratically 2016-11-22 01:37 am (UTC)(link)
The- oh, well, that anyone should be forced to, especially if they are lacking the means to do so.
brokeassgoing: (is it me you're looking for)

[personal profile] brokeassgoing 2016-11-22 03:16 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, no kiddin? You sound almost logical...now have a turn tellin' politicians that and not gettin' the loop around.
democratically: (contemplative)

[personal profile] democratically 2016-11-23 01:22 am (UTC)(link)
Not all politicians are the same.

[It is murmured as she suppresses another yawn.]
brokeassgoing: (pic#9511199)

[personal profile] brokeassgoing 2016-11-23 01:47 am (UTC)(link)
You keep thinkin' in that dream state-- you're lookin' dreamy enough as is after all.
democratically: (come what may)

[personal profile] democratically 2016-11-24 05:24 pm (UTC)(link)
I was one.

[Although it comes out with more of a pout than the usual calm but serious tone she would otherwise use.]
