[A snort that could be taken for laughter, if one were generous about it. A witty alien– who knew?
It's one second too late that Adam realizes he's staring, and he turns his head away a little too quickly, grimacing. He's been on the receiving end of stares like that too many times to feel good about doing the same thing to someone else. When he turns back around – fully-facing the alien this time – it's with the darkened lenses shielding his eyes, his implants making the dim lighting a non-issue. ]
We'll go with that. [Sounding more like he's trying to convince himself than anything else...But at least with his eyes covered, it's easier to keep his expression its usual blank neutral.] Sorry, things are a little– fuzzy. None of this [a vague gesture at the whole of the ship] is exactly helping.
[Not a great excuse for accidentally starting off a conversation with "I should be dead," but it's all he's got. Already, he's regretting the momentary lapse in control.]
