[open|mingle!] ain't no party like a moira slumber party
Who: Zam Wesell, Bruce Banner, and anybody!
When: Sometime after December 3rd until whenever the heating is back on
Where: The Library
What: Enterprising crewmembers gather in the library with blankets, pillows, and mattresses to wait out the cold.
Warnings: None so far!
[As per suggestion by Bruce Banner on the network, crewmembers have begun congregating in the library with extra blankets, mattresses, pillows, and clothes in an attempt to pool their resources and body heat in one room, with the hopes that it will take some of the bite out of the bitter cold that’s been plagueing all areas of the ship. The result is an impressive collection of bedding, some of it arranged in neat, separate piles denoting ownership by different crewmen and some of it thrown in a haphazard, but cozy looking pile in the center of the library. Feel free to bring your own comforts and either choose your own space to camp out, or throw it in the ever-growing pile in the middle of the room. All are welcome -- the more the merrier, and more importantly, the warmer.
If you are an inhabitant of Moro deck, you might notice a missing blanket or three thrown in the central pile. If you’ve been paying attention to the network, you might know this to be the work of a certain shapeshifter, who is almost certainly in the library. Somewhere...]
{OOC: This is an open mingle log! Feel free to post your own top-levels, or tag the top-levels of your crewmates! No place like a library-turned-slumber-party to make friends, right?}

Bruce Banner » open
The rest of the covers, blankets and sheets that he brought with himself, those he just set down for others to help themselves to. He's not toasty warm, but he's not exactly freezing here either. He's handled a lot worse anyway. Still, he keeps to himself, avoiding even locking gazes with anyone who happens to glance at him, not really expecting to be approached by too many people while he's here. He counts himself lucky that he hasn't been kicked out of the room as it is.
Zam Wesell | OTA
[For the first few hours in the library, Zam can be found amidst the pile of blankets and pillows in the center of the room. He’s still cold for one thing, not to mention he hauled all these
stolenblankets down here with his one remaining arm, so he might as well use them. He’s also trying to smooth the ruffled feathers of anyone who just came down here to yell at him for taking their bedding. In truth, it’s all part of the plan; it will be much easier for them to just take their stuff from the pile and set up in some other part of the room rather than haul it all the way back to Moro Deck. Which means more people in the library which, hopefully, means less cold.]B) Bookshelves
[As more people file in and the room gradually becomes warmer from the accumulated insulation and body heat, Zam eventually ventures out from the blanket nest to explore the library. The last time the changeling was in here, they were kind of sort of completely inebriated, which is a shame because they do actually enjoy being able to read the books on the shelves. This time around, he actually browses some, occasionally taking a book of the shelf and flipping through the pages.
Eventually, he picks up a book that he doesn’t put back after a few seconds. His brow furrows in confusion and if you approach him, he’ll look up with a perplexed expression.] You aren’t going to believe this.
B
You can't say something like that and not tell me.
[Well, you can, but then you can't complain when Wanda goes rifling through your thoughts to find out.]

[Or at least that's what the captains said. All Wanda knows is that she asked for her coat back and got more than she was hoping for.]
no subject
So you’re saying somewhere in my universe, someone, somewhere is missing their copy of this book? [He shakes his head, giving a short laugh that's equal parts amusement and disbelief.] You know, the longer I stay here, the more I think we're all on just a really dysfunctional pirate ship.
no subject
I do not think we make very frightening pirates hiding under these blankets.
no subject
He smirks.] Well, like I said, we’re dysfunctional.
no subject
They might be useful. What if we have to deal with one of these outlaws? [She's joking - probably.] Or -- whatever a mooka is.
[That's not the only import from Zam's world as Wanda has just plucked The Care and Keeping of Mooka off a shelf.]
no subject
A mooka? Do they not have those where you’re from? [He watches as the woman picks another book off the shelf, tilting his head to read the title.] I wouldn’t worry. They’re harmless.
no subject
What is a mooka? I've never heard of them.

Starflight curled up tighter, pulling his tail in close. Even here with the rest of the crew and all the blankets, it was pretty cold. Growing up in the caves he would sometimes breathe fire to warm up. Starflight took a deep breath, building up heat in the back of his throat, feeling the warmth spread through his chest. But with all the books and fabric he was afraid of setting anything of fire.
The small plume of flame wasn't enough to cause problems, but trying to keep the rest of the fire down sent him into a coughing fit. Starflight covered his nose and mouth as he hacked up smoke, trying to draw as little attention to himself as possible.

He had a blanket over his shoulders, and was carrying a cup of tisane - the water boiler, much like the coffee machine, kept flickering on and off, but with some patience, it was possible to warm up enough water to make something to drink. The coughing had him doing a slight detour, stopping just a couple of feet to the side of Starflight's mattress as he looked at him.
"Are you alright?"
no subject
"Yes, thank you. It's not usually a problem, but then I'm usually not in a room full of flammable things. Sorry about all the smoke."
He was a little warmer though, which had been the initial goal. Starflight sat up, looking at Bruce's mug curiously.
"What are you drinking? Is it warm?"
no subject
And him being warmer would contribute to the overall temperature in the room, which was the whole point of being here together.
"Oh. Yes," he nodded, looking down at the cup in his hands. "It's tea. It's very hot now, but with this cold, it'll likely cool down pretty fast."

Whatever the case may be, odd or silly as it may be, he's brought his mattress, blanket, and pillows all with him down to the library and put it on the outer edge of the growing center bed mass. It's set up neatly--perfectly made, not a wrinkle in sight in the blankets, and next to his mattress sit his uniforms. He's only wearing one now, just his basic one plus, of course, the thermal underneath, but he figured he'd bring the others with him in case he got cold enough to want more layers. That, or someone else might need extra layers. He's not against lending them out.
It might be weird for some people to see Wash like this because ever since it got cold, he's been going around in his armour because it keeps him warm--regulates his body temperature. However, he had the feeling being in uniform in the library instead would be more beneficial, as it'll actually add his body heat to the rest instead of leave him a cold suit of metal.
Wash can be found throughout the library at various time through the days they spend there, oftentimes sitting on his mattress with a book, other times looking to interact with others. He wants to hear stories of the other worlds people are from, and maybe tell a bit about his, if anyone is willing to listen.
