( december intro log )

Who: Everyone
When: December 1st and on
Where: Throughout the Moira
What: Repercussions of Caducus Primary + New Arrivals + The Unknown
Warnings: None, but please label anything you do that needs a warning

SHIP LIFE
"In nature, there are neither rewards nor punishments; there are consequences."

The Ingress has pulled you in. Your body experiences several sensations at once: being pushed forward as if a hand is resting on your back, momentary and startling blindness, a gentle ringing in your head. You have difficulty discerning whether it is hot or cold, but where you have been prodded is noticeably warmer than the rest of you. Some may suffer from dizziness while others are perfectly fine. Once equilibrium has been reestablished, you will notice you are standing on a long platform and that the room is filled with a soft cerulean light. It's slightly humid and dark despite the glow around you, and various machines line the walls on either side, though they are not accessible from where you stand. Shortly after, you are led out and toward the medbay.

Inside this room, you are given a physical scan and sign a contract that states you are now part of the crew of the Moira with a specific job. This process consists of a complete work-up of medical history and current health, and afterwards, you are given your MID, a device that is integrated into your hand with only the slightest pinch. From there, you are guided out of the medbay and to your living quarters.

MERO DECKNOMO DECKMORO DECK

Due to the circumstances of Caducus Primary, the captains appear abnormally absent. Unlike before, they will not be seen or heard from after processing the newest members of the crew. They can still be contacted via their MID devices for emergencies only, but otherwise, they have retreated to their rooms and clearly do not want disturbed. They are displeased with the events and will be less accommodating in regards to resources and rank privileges. In fact, they may feel less like a privilege and more like a punishment.

DRUM THRUM THUD
Reverberations of what has happened to Caducus Primary are still being felt despite having left the chaos behind. After the initial influx of new crew, there seems to be the occasional flicker of the power all throughout the Moira—like a pulse, a breath. Do the shadows move, or is it just a trick of the light? Several hours pass, and a message flashes across all MIDs. It is labeled urgent and comes directly from Thán; however, any responses will be automatically rejected.

Our ship has sustained minor outer damage, and the systems are fluctuating as they reboot themselves individually. Take care of darker areas, and travel with other crew if you need to leave your room.

Crew safety is severely stressed this month, especially after what's occurred, and anyone in need of medical attention is to report to the Medbay posthaste. Yet, the crew may soon realize it's not only the power that appears to be having issues as the days progress in their travels.

IN THE FRIDGE
From the 3rd on, things start to grow a bit chilly. With current power issues, a problem that even those in areas responsible for its function cannot seem to solve, there has been a steady decline of less vital life support systems. It soon grows cold enough that sections of the ship that house any sort of water systems may find them slowly freezing over, and even showers don't seem as warm as they should be. ( Those in Mero Deck may find their communal bathroom a rink. ) In the mess hall, late in the evening after all shifts are finished, several pipes rupture and create particles of ice (snow) and a solid slippery sheet across the entirety of the floor. Melting it may be a temporary solution, but as there is no way to keep the water in its liquid form, it might be inadvisable to try more than once.

Other areas of the ship are also open to exploration, though they may be affected by the power and temperature changes as well. Please advise the captains' warning.

[ Steve's had plenty of time to adjust to the weird state of the rooms and the fact his clothes aren't exactly tailored to fit someone like him, keeping things orderly and standing just short of his own bed so he can eye his shield. All of this is still pretty new for him, though the guy coming inside doesn't even seem to blink at his presence. His words — ]

You're not the first person to tell me that. [ Sorry, he doesn't remember a thing. ] How long was I here before? [ It's strange to address the situation in those terms, but the more he knew, the better off he'd be in the long run. ]

[With all the grace of an irate vampire Niko sits up stiffly, looks at Steve bluntly, and just sighs as if he's deflating.] Almost two months.

But I have met two yous. So I know you are probably not the same man. Just from a paralell universe. [He says it strangely, thick on his Serbian accent because it's a concept he's just learned in the past year.] Sorry friend, you seem to be one of the universe's favorite people to fuck with. It must be the flag outfit. Is sort of attention grabber.

[ He doesn't have a whole lot of experience with parallel universes, though Thor's explained some to him; yet, those are realms, something entirely different. If Steve wants to think about it, it'd probably give him a headache, and honestly, he just wants the facts nice and neat and pretty orderly before they start to get messy. There's a bit of a smile at that, dressed in the dark blue pants of said flag outfit without the top half to fill the rest of the image of Captain America in. Probably not, he wants to say, but he needs to focus on something easier. ]

I think that was the point when they designed it. [ He pauses. ] I guess introductions are probably out then. But you know me, and I don't know you. The name's Rogers. [ Wait, wait. ] Steve.

[ He'd offer his hand, but Niko looks sort of like he doesn't want to be bothered, so he nods instead. ]

Niko Bellic. [And, just so he didn't have to go through the more awkward motions.] Serb. Illegal immigrant. Former soldier. [Career criminal. Leave that part out.]

Sorry if I seem in a bad mood.

Things have happened here. [And there's nothing that pisses him off more than feeling helpless, he doesn't think.] I do not know if they have told you. Is pretty bad.

[ Should Steve give a list of his more commonly known attributes? American, super soldier, Avenger. He decides against it, taking it in stride. As far as he's concerned, the past only helps shape who you are in the present, and there's nothing that immediately tips him off to this guy being trouble. Not with the apology that follows. He'd say it was nice meeting him, but the circumstances were a little... out there. ]

There's a lot they haven't told me. [ And a lot they probably wouldn't. ] What happened?

The captains had stolen from a planet. They asked us to leave. They didn't leave. They stayed so long the locals finally tried to force us out. They managed to piss off a man who could become a big green monster. The world was made of glass.

Something went very long and the planet was destroyed. Only some people made it away.

[He does feel a little guilty. He had suspected the worst of that world. Was convinced of it. But they were fine, if not innocent at least honorable.] Some of the population made it away. [Better than the other world they left.] The captains may not be aware, but much blame is being put on us. We're told that they needed supplies for us so they took too long. I don't know. Maybe it is our fault. We should have made them leave sooner.

[ It's not like he's expecting to hear any of that, the news sort of settling over him in a subtle thrum that reminds him of falling out of the Ingress. Big green monster, too, strikes home, and there's only one person he knows who even remotely fits that description. That Banner was here, that he might have been triggered... Steve frowns, finally moving to sit just on the edge of his bed with the shield centered right behind him. It's a lot to process, and he doesn't even know where to start. ]

Those in charge should know what's best for the people under them. [ But even in space, it seems that personal opinion doesn't exactly stick. ] Maybe there was a reason they didn't leave right away. Has anyone said anything to them about it?

Yeah. I did. [He was also in the hold at the time.] I don't think they're meant to be the captains of this ship. Maybe they are what is last of what is an old crew. I don't know. They seem to still be working on it.

[Niko's been in the military and on sailing ships for a long time. He's also worked under hideous criminal bosses. These people seem like neither. Just like they're trying to get by.]

I think they need us to keep this ship. They call it unique, but I do not believe they can manage it alone. So they keep us. That is my best guess.
