[Open] Fill my heart with song
Who: Toriel & you!
When: May 4th - May 20th
Where: Around the ship.
What: Catch all for May. Child wrangling, talking with friends and waking up from Cryo.
Warnings: Baked goods, parental fussing, possible angst.
[A - A Parental touch - Open to teens/kids - May 4th - 14th]
"Ah, here you are-" Whatever peace of mind one had before Toriel's arrival is broken by the boss monster approaching their lunch table in the mess hall.
There is no escape as Toriel settles down across from her unsuspecting victim. "I've been looking for you, dear. I just wanted to see how you're doing today."
For anyone whose dealt with Toriel, it is clear enough she's going to launch into fussing at whomever she's settled down across from.
She squints a little at their lunch tray. "I hope you're eating your vegetables."
[B - Hello, hello - Open to all - May 13th]
The hustle and bustle of people visiting the planet to go home briefly leaves the ship oddly quiet. Toriel takes that time to make herself at home in the kitchen. Her shift isn't today but-
but she still finds herself working on baked goods. With magic she worries a little less about supplies, it means she doesn't waste power from the burners or gas from the stove.
Anyone who enter the mess hall will smell the scent of freshly baked cookies. Alongside hear the soft singing from the kitchen. Those who venture forth will find a tray of cookies already out, another likely to come out in a moment.
"Oh!" It takes Toriel a moment realize she isn't alone, she offers a friendly smile. "Would you like a cookie, dear? I went a bit overboard with them."
[C - Waking up - Open - May 20th]
The strangest part is waking up when she doesn't remember falling asleep. Beyond the initial panic of being contained in some kind of pod and gentle reassurances from the medical staff, Toriel feels- odd. It takes some time before the medical staff let her leave on her own. Tests, checks and insistence she return if she feels faint again.
By the time they're done, Toriel is relieved to be out in the hallway. She exhales slowly, closing her eyes for a moment to recenter herself. Many thoughts collide at once, leaving her unsteadier than she started.
The boss monster forces herself forward, walking down the hallway. Initially her steps are unsteady, but she corrects it quickly enough. In privacy she can think this over, reason out how or why she had gotten ill. Now was not really the time.
Toriel herself is hard to miss, given her height and current demeanor she seems intent on just getting as far as she can from the medical wing. In her hurry she nearly bumps into someone. Her expression is pinched but apologetic.
"My apologies, I am in a bit of a rush."

B!
"Uh. They're good?"

"Take as many as you like, I've far too much." She motions for Peter to take what he wants as she moves to dust herself off, only minor traces of flour having settled on her uniform.

*i've made far too much, whoops lost a word up there
I've heard enough people talk that way, that I didn't even notice it

...and the last few words she says makes him blink, before smiling sheepishly. "I am, I am!" Is he eating enough, is questionable. He knows they're important, they're just not as nice as other things!
no subject
"You seem to be playing with it more in the moment." She offers gently back, no real judgement present. She offers Akito a friendly smile. The boss monster chuckles a little fondly at the sheepishness.
"How are you been since we've last spoke, dear?"
no subject
Akito hummed, thinking on the question. "I've been okay. A little bit lonely, I miss our friends from home...ah, but I know I have you still, Agito, I didn't mean that." He has to divert away from talking to Toriel for a moment, worried that he's slighted his other half by accident. The light looks up in a manner of talking to someone over his shoulder as he talks to Agito.
'Calm down, I know that.'
He breathes a sigh of relief at the dark's words, attention back on the boss monster. "Sorry...I think it's just kind of sinking in how different things are now? Everything still sort of feels...unreal." It's only been a month, but now it's finally starting to hit him exactly what it means to be here, and not home.
A
"I am," he assures her. "I like vegetables." He doesn't seem to have gotten started on them yet, though. Actually, it appears he's going pretty slow on the whole eating thing. He's been sitting here for a little while now, and he's barely touched his food. He's certainly working on it, gradually carving a path through it.
If she examines Link himself more closely, she'll be able to notice he's sporting some new bruises and cuts, too. They're well on their way towards healing, but they're very much there.
no subject
"I am not sure what you have encountered, young one- but if I may I can ease the pain to some degree." Healing magic comes naturally to her, not as easy as controlling her fire magic- but she can always feel it thrumming through her soul. "I have healing magic and if you are alright with it I can heal you to some extent."
no subject
Something else has him hesitating, though. Does he want to tell her...? It's strange. Now that it's over, he feels almost like it'd be more okay to talk about it. The weight that's been lifted from his shoulders, that much is expected. But he isn't used to feeling okay with talking about things like this.
After a moment, he decides to try it out. Slowly, he says, "I went through the Ingress. There was something important I had to do. A lot of people were counting on me." That's... simplifying it, alright. But even so, he's trying to work out how to put it into words, and it shows.

"Oh-- It's fine!" He's quick to shake his head once he's recovered a moment later. Offering a smile, he raises his hands in his own apologetic gesture. "I could have been paying more attention. If anything, it's just as much my fault."
The expression on her face slows him down though and has is smile faltering. Brow furrowing, he glances around Toriel, down the hall to the medical wing. She must have just come from that direction, he figures, and she seems...bothered? She might be a stranger, but that doesn't prevent his concern.
"...Are you okay?"
no subject
She hesitates, the ease of lying is there but Toriel feels tired. Too tired to maintain the facade of being anything but 'not fine'. Truth can come easier when there is no expectations between two people.
"I have been, better." She admits with an uncertain roll of her shoulders, "Apparently I was in some deep sleep, it makes me wonder how much I've missed."
no subject
"I know how you feel. I was like that for about two weeks just a couple months ago." Offering a sympathetic look, Wash shakes his head. "It's not a great feeling. Did the medical staff at least tell you how many days you were in there for?" If she knows, he might be able to help her fill in some of the blanks, though she'll definitely have to speak with people she already knows to get most of the info.
"...Or even why they had you there in the first place?" He doubts that they did, but it's not impossible that he's the only one who's gotten no reasoning. After a couple seconds though, he realizes he might be being too nosy. Raising his hands apologetically, he continues, "--Not that you have to tell me if they did. Obviously. I understand if you'd rather not."

"Oh, uh. Nah, that's okay." He looks away, designs on eating something with actual nutritional value before glancing back down at the plate of cookies. There's a brief moment of mournful hesitation. "Okay, maybe one."
He takes one, shoving it into his mouth whole as he takes a seat at the counter.
no subject
"Just one?" She teases readily, snout wrinkling in open amusement at Ratchet's poor attempt to resist the allure of baked goods. "I would say two is a better number, personally."
no subject
An inarguable point. He carefully chooses another, this time only taking a bite. He was glad to see that Toriel seemed in good spirits...even if experience told him that wasn't necessarily the whole story.
"So, is there an occasion, or...?"

C!
There wasn't a note left with the showy red lily-like flowers that'd been by her cryotube in Medbay; older and doing better didn't mean he was without his weird insecure jags, even if he had one last special trip grabbing anyone who'd hold still for a few minutes to get them from Baron.
He was in the halls off duty and considering going back to check, just in case, when dumb luck happened.
" - Toriel? You're awake?" He's still worried even if this is a relief and the last person he was worried about this month back awake. "Are you alright?"
no subject
It says much of her state that she doesn't realize she's bumped into Kain. Surprise is clear on her features, followed by something apologetic. "Kain- I, I've been better." Honestly slips out easily. "I've only just woken up a few moments ago."
no subject
At least he probably didn't grab the Whisperweed."You've been out for four days." Sure, it's probably one of his occasional Captain Obvious moments, but he's worried and may not be thinking over what he says himself. "Did they say much about what happened?"She's going to have a hovering dragonperson the whole way to wherever she's headed, one way or another.

C - this ok? :3
Asriel didn't understand what it meant, only that Toriel was "asleep" and wasn't waking up. But it was still alarming and incredibly upsetting, and he kept going between her room and his just in case she'd returned. The only reason he'd leave her room was in case he was bothering her roommates in her absence.
Today he seemed to be in luck. At some point while he was walking back towards his room, he sees a familiar figure emerging into the hallway. It takes only a second before he recognizes who it is, and only a second longer for an incredible sense of relief to wash over him.
"MOM!" a small figure lunges at her in a hug, a ball of white fur and worried tears.
Perfectly ok, gimme dat goat bbin
Any of her children rank highly in people she wants to see, even now in her rush to get away from the medbay to be alone. Her children come first. She still needs to check on everyone else, see what has transpired since she slept. Toriel isn't entirely sure how much time she has missed, but it is enough to make her worry form into an uncomfortable knot in her chest.
"Oh my child." It is just habit at this point for the boss monster to sweep her son up in her arms. He's going to be far too old for this soon enough, so Toriel will relish holding him like this. "Asriel- goodness." Seeing his horns again just makes her smile turn wobbly.
no subject
"You... you went to sleep. No one could tell me why."
It looked a little like she'd "fallen down", but he's glad that's not the case. Part of him was worried that him growing horns might have been a reason why she had to spent those days in cryo, or if she'd gotten really sick. He quickly rubs at his eyes.
"Are you okay now? Are you still sick?"

His footsteps are loud, metal clanking on the floor, as he peers in to see a strange creature cooking. For a moment he thinks that it's a chimera, but the shock fades quickly. He's seen a lot of strange things here, he can't judge them all on Amestrian standards.]
Oh, um-- sorry.
[His voice is young, definitely pre-teen, and incongruous with the eight foot tall spiked suit of armour.]
I didn't mean to interrupt you, I just heard you singing.
no subject
Her own voice is gentle, motherly.] Ah, don't worry, dear.
I got carried away, really. [She waves her hand gently.] Would you like to keep this old woman company whilst she bakes?

A as i finally get to this
Once his brain catches up to what's happening he swallows hurriedly and sets his fork down, staring down at his tray as if double-checking to make sure he actually did get vegetables, and he seems to relax a little when he catches sight of some green on there. Good, he hadn't been paying much attention when he got the food.
"Oh, uh-- Hi. Yeah, I am."
It would be hard not to, given that he typically eats just about every kind of food he can get his hands on.
we're both slow, but i am queen of slowpoke
"How have you been this week, dear?" If one thing can be said about Toriel, it is she won't let an unanswered question like this drop too easily. "Have you been taking care of yourself? I hope you haven't been overworking yourself at the library."
