far from nowhere
"the trees rustle in the evening when we stand uneasy before our own thoughts."

With the events of Del Pascia behind the Moira, things are only now beginning to settle—and not very well. Through the combined efforts of some of the crew, D-E-L and her permanent residents were incinerated into the dust of space. While it’s not the most peaceful end, it is one, and not many are going to be thinking back on how nice Del Pascia’s facilities were for quite some time. Repairing what they could of the ship’s interior and putting as much distance between the Moira and the prison as possible, those aboard are informed by Navigation that they are approaching another planet. This means, of course, the potential for better supplies, as some things are beginning to dwindle, and the Captains elect to dock so long as the crew follows protocol.
WELCOME TO AMISSIS-RE

Amissis-Re is an unregistered planet with no documented histories or signs of life. The Moira’s Navigation crew have scanned the planet for any usable resources and have discovered a faint signal emitting from beneath the surface of Amissi-Re. Using the transporters and any other crafts located in the Cargo Bay, the crew are able to travel to the source of the signal. Upon arriving in its exact location, they’ll find a small series of lakes that lead to a tower-like structure that appears to be in use. Crew must cross a poorly assembled bridge system that sways and dips when weight is applied to it in order to gain access to the entrance. Once there, a woman comes out to greet them and explains, excitedly, that she is so very happy that they have come to Amissis-Re.

Everyone can go home.

Their host insists that she has done the impossible and has somewhat fixed the Ingress that’s been built on Amissis-Re a long time ago, and what’s more, she can send crew home for short bursts of time. Upon following this woman inside, crew will find that the planet is not, in fact, barren at all. Diving deep into the underbelly of Amissis-Re, it’s like an eternal factory of machines, and while vast, for whatever reason, it also seems incredibly welcoming...

LEAP OF FAITH ( 05.01 and on )
The barren planet of Amissis-Re is devoid of vegetation and organic life except for a lone woman, and the planet itself is an intricate honeycomb of machines that go for miles below the surface. Yet, that seems insignificant and unimportant in comparison to the news that the crew has just received. After Thán has looked at the Ingress, he tells the crew that he cannot say for certain that it is properly functioning, but Emiri native, Ben Link, will volunteer to test it out.

An elevator takes crew down to a glass platform that overlooks an inverted Ingress portal. In order to return home, the Moirans will have to take a leap of faith and jump in. Ben, in order to show his commitment to the crew and willingness to help get them home, takes that jump with Captain Thán seconds behind him. Jumping feels like dropping through wind; lights swirl, it’s warm, and a soft buzzing encompasses you as you fall. You don’t feel the landing. One moment you’re falling, and the next, you’re in a new world.

A few hours pass before a similar elevator rises from below and to the left of the Ingress, stopping beside the platform. Ben and Thán step out unharmed.

It works, and everyone can temporarily go home. Will you jump?

COMBINE THE EXTREMES ( 05.01 and on )
The woman that greeted the crew and led them to the platform will allow anyone that wants to go home the opportunity to go. There’s only one catch: it’s not permanent. She’s worked for years to fix the Ingress so that she can return to her own home but hasn’t been able to make the trip an everlasting one. Everyone always comes back. Always. They go for a few hours, at first, but that amount of time increases with each visit.

The one guideline, she says, is that you can’t go alone. Each trip requires a partner, or it becomes too much for the mind to bear. These rules are simple: the world takes shape depending on who jumps first, but if crew go hand-in-hand and leap at the same time, the worlds combine. This new world will be populated with people that existed in both and may appear to be a jarring combination of both worlds. It may seem unusual, but if the woman is asked, she’ll explain that the combined world does exist as there are more universes than can be imagined. The Ingress tries to take the person to their own home, their original home, but when jumping together, it finds the closest possible match and deposits them there instead.

From that point on, you can travel the world together or split up, but remember, this world is a living, functioning world. It doesn’t matter if it’s the home of one crew member or a combination. You meet other people. You can get hurt. You influence and are influenced by others.

Be cautious, and enjoy your visit “home”.

LINGER ON ( 05.05 and on )
The more times the Amissis-Re Ingress is visited, the more it seems that your trips last longer and the experience becomes even more vivid. More real and harder to distinguish from the current reality that you know. It’s difficult to explain why, but you get the feeling that maybe if you went without the aid of the host, that perhaps you’d be able to stay. Forever. It takes some subterfuge, but in time, you see your chance: she’s nowhere in sight, and you take it.

The world you are in now is completely your own, whether another crew member accompanied you or not. The people you know are there, everything around you is exactly as you remember. A few hours pass, and you don’t feel that familiar tug, that invisible hook at the base of your spine that signals that your visit is over. Even more time goes by, and you’re still in that world, your home. When the first day has passed, you begin to question if you’ll ever go back, or if life on the Moira was all a dream. The person with you won’t be able to convince you otherwise, and they’ll start to feel less real, a stranger that you used to know.

There’s only one way to go back to the Moira. Someone from the other side has to come in and retrieve you both. Once in, contact with a third will jump-start a link through the Ingress, and it will pull all crew back to the platform.

[He watches his sister walk off, the slow march of a child that doesn't want to leave. He lets his gaze fall back to Sans once she's gone, and then wordlessly turns up the TV.

The reporter is talking about public safety concerns, about what mutants could be capable of, and the clip shows the president introducing the Sentinels again.]

They built an army to come after us.

[He sounds shell shocked. The news switches to a clip of a man in red armor again, shouting to the cameras about mutant supremacy.]

Because of Erik. They're going to kill us because of him.

Frisk can't help a small laugh, and lobs their snowball overhead to splat right in the middle of his back before ducking behind a tree.

He examines the building with a frown, tilting his head.]

[The modulated sound strangles a grunt out of Megatron, his face contorting into a pained snarl. He falls down to one knee as his legs start to give out, slowly drained of the bright animating force throughout the entire conversation.]

[His arms tremble with exertion, joints creaking with lack of energy as Tarn puts his full weight on him, pushing him closer to the coursing power lines. For a moment all he can do is stare at the ground, feeling the force against him grow more overwhelming with each second that passed. The floor beneath him sparks and shrieks as his armor digs grooves deeper into the metal ground. This was it. It was now or nothing.]

[Megatron looks up defiantly at the rage in Tarn's eyes, despite his optics glowing far dimmer than they were a few seconds earlier. With a yell, he slams the pointed end of his helmet into Tarn's face with all the energy he has left, feeling his limbs finally begin to slip.]

[The opposing force resisting Tarn evaporates, allowing Tarn's own strength to do the work for him as he twists his body to the side. All Tarn gets is a light shove in the right direction: straight into exposed energy of the of the Ingress' power lines.]

He rolls over, trying to scramble to his feet and get another handful of snow at the same time. "--Hey, isn't that cheating?"

He doesn't sound too upset, though, all things considered, and wastes no time in chasing after them to toss another snowball.

What... is that thing? He's never really seen anything like it before. Not even on Cybertron.

"Well, duh I can."

He thinks. And then he takes a few steps in the sand, only to sink almost up to his ankles in it.

"... or maybe."

The chill look is more what Bel had expected for the conundrum of their appearing in the palace, or wherever this was, at all. Gregor has every reason to hate being kept in the dark. Bel meets the sharp gaze squarely, accepting the rebuke with a brief acknowledging nod. All they have for him is the truth.

It's a unique challenge to condense the Moira into a brief report. The broken Ingress; the deep-space ship of unknown origin, peopled with abductees from across space, time, and the multiverse; the offer to send everyone home at the end of the line if they would work as crew -- the uniform Bel wears now, one of no known fleet -- to get the ship to its destination. The months that had passed, back there. Details ruthlessly excluded: death, love, disaster, the rapport they'd found, your hands around mine. Better to stay with dry facts and away from the tightness in their own chest.

Much better.

It almost slips through, a bare hint behind the eyes, as Bel describes the memory-loss reported by people sent back and later returned. But they're careful to differentiate the ship's Ingress from the one on Amissis-Re. For most of the trip, going home, even temporarily, hasn't been an option.

"What about throwing one at me when I fell down?"

He practically falls down again dodging that one, then grabs a handful of snow and takes off after them, this time seeing if he can get them with a (probably rather poorly-packed) snowball before theirs is ready.

The excited robot glances at the water passing around Ginko's stick, following the rippling path that the stick temporarily cut through the flow.

"High definition means that something is expressed on a screen with great attention to detail. It projects in more pixels per inch," he comments, shooting Ginko a patient smile as he explains. "As for places like this, I'm afraid not! Our weather patterns were extremely fixed. Snowdin was snowy, Waterfall was wet and sometimes experienced rain. Hotland was hot.

It wasn't that complicated, really!! Here, the complexity of life is breathtaking!! It's a gift!"

He's very sincere about that, even nodding silently to himself.

"A few people are like that but I've never come across them in large numbers." She used to be 'normal'. Her friends weren't the type to think of predestination or fate having something in store for them. "I find more people thinking they deserve something more than what they have because of who they are or what they're capable of." Like the Tzimisce or LaCroix. Sad to think that it took for her to be on the Moira before she saw the similarities in their greed.

Ava shook her head and gave a short breath of a sigh, unneeded. "My circumstances are...fixed. I can't change them. It's in my blood." The abilities she had now were useful, but she'd trade them to have a normal life again, to not be hunted at every turn, and to no longer crave blood. "So I'm a bit of a lost cause at this point. But you have the opportunity. I'm glad someone's clawing their way out of rock bottom." And that was a genuine statement. She didn't know Miller but he seemed nice enough. He didn't deserve to be dragged around in a role he didn't want to be a part of.

[It's far too late for Tarn to evade the inevitable as he loses his balance and is pushed head first into into the high voltage lines feeding the Ingress.

An all consuming burning pain takes hold of Tarn as his entire frame short circuits in the bright flare of a powerful electircal surge. Not a sound is made from him over the electrical roar from the power lines. The glass over his optics shatters and within seconds he crumples to the ground in a twitching unconscious heap.

Tarn is alive, but only barely. His spark will recover its strength on it's own, but the fried circuits will need a little extra help.]

[She too has no idea what went into making peace, but she'll still argue till she's blue in the face she'd rather fight through that process a million times over than do what she did again.

Shepard still makes it sound like such an easy thing, though. Like something that could be virtuous in some other universe. Which, of course, it was.]

Hi. Right...

[There's a tiny hint of nausea rolling in her gut, but more than anything else, it's nerves. She steps forwards a few paces, into the colossal shadow of the Prime, which notices her and looks round, down at her.]

Creator Tali'Zorah. [Creator. A lump in her throat she hadn't even realised was there swells suddenly, and she glances around as if to see where Shepard is, why she's not there beside her.] Are here to oversee repairs?

[She falters a little, uncertainly.] No--No, I'm not in charge here. I just wanted to come and take a look. I haven't been down here yet. We...we were in the area, so I thought I would...

[Sound more nervous, Tali.

...It occurs to her briefly to wonder how the Prime knows who she is without suspecting for a second she doesn't belong here, but she's too busy helplessly looking around at Shepard to put too much thought into it.]

Not just for Robin either. She sniffs loudly, trying to keep her own nose from running. She never has cried pretty, not when she gets real upset.]

Man. All you guys and your governments actually make me feel good about America.

[Thanks Obama. Like. Legitimately.]

Pfft, sure, why not. I could use a break. [She says like half her time staffing the cafe isn't a break.] Let me just fix myself a drink.

Pick a table or something.

Holy shit. Shopping and drinks? This is like, a dream come true.

"You are the best friend ever," Allison whispers in awe. She should probably be like 'Oh no that's too kind you don't have to!' but. She hasn't been proper shopping in months. If Nihlus is offering she is taking advantage of that, dammit. She just. Won't ask him too buy much. Yeah.

Booze, rent, and food? "Hey, that sounds a lot like my monthly expenses. Minus the student debt."

And she only got minimum wage.

[That's alright. They're alone on a dead island, there's no one to judge them for running make up and snotty clothing. And, honestly, even if there were other people - this is their moment. Appearances aren't something that matters to Robin at this exact second.]

I guess so.

[She blushes a little bit through her tears. Even as she's crying her eyes out like this, surrounded by everything she's lost, Allison still knows how to make her feel like she has a real value. She's thankful for that.]

I thought he was a drifter when I first met him. He washed up on shore here - [She gestures a little farther down the beach. Ohara isn't a big island, and they're pretty close to where she met Saul.] - he had been shipwrecked, and got him water to help him.

He was a Giant - a little bigger than any of the robots on the Moira. He had a big, red beard and he really loved to laugh. He always said I should laugh more.

...Saul got hurt when his ship wrecked, and he had to stay on the island until it healed. Then he had to build a raft big enough to carry him. And when he did that... I think he just stuck around because he knew I would miss him.

[She feels bad about that. If he had left when he originally planned, would he have lived? She probably wouldn't have, that much is sure.]

Then the attack happened, and I found out that he knew my mom. He-he helped me find her, and after that he tried to escape with me, but -

[Her voice catches again for a second, before turning into a full-blown sob.]

- but the ships started firing at us. Saul got hit by some cannons, and he got mad because they almost hurt me too, so he put me down and went to go fight them.

[She points towards the shipwrecks visible from where they're sitting - the five that look like they've been picked up and thrown into one another. If it weren't completely obvious that she wasn't the one to do that, she's admitting it now.]

He's the one who sank those ships, n-not me. Then one of the vice-admirals - Kuzan - showed up. He-he wasn't a Giant, but Saul ran away from him - he said he knew that he was too strong.

He had powers too, but they weren't like mine. He could control ice, I think, because he just... froze Saul to death right there. He managed to put me down as he was freezing, though, an-an' I ran away.

[For the next two or so minutes she's basically blubbering, as she remembers the death of one of her only friends right before her eyes. It was a traumatic experience, and being here again is just making the wounds feel that much more recent. It doesn't help that she suspects his body is still on the shore - not visible from where they're sitting, but only a relatively short walk away.

She musters up the will to say one last thing about Saul, though.
]

Th-the last thing he said to me, was that I should laugh more, even when things are bad. I-I haven't really been doing a good job of it...

[And with that she leans in closer to Allison - if that's even possible at this point - and sobs again into her shirt.]

"No," Wow Miller, are you calling him old? He is so old. "I imagine the repeat exposures are more likely to have an effect."

His shoulders sag slightly, and not just from the way his body feels excessively heavy right now.

"I... had hoped to return to the Cybertron of myself. To see it as it was meant to be again. I should have expected-" He pinches the bridge of his nose. "I spent two million years on Cybertron, and six million in the Dead Universe. I should have realized the odds were against me."

[Megatron weakly props himself up on a forearm and glances back to see Tarn's circuits grow blindingly bright as his innards are torn apart by the considerable power coursing through the Ingress' power lines.]

[The other lights within the room blow out - much like Tarn's optics, leaving them both in the dark save the brief, violent display of electrical arcs disrupted from their channels and charged through the air. The scent of ozone and rapid-fire particles lays heavy above him as the Decepticon falls.]

[Through labored plumes of warm exhaust seeping out of his frame, Megatron forces himself onto his back and manages to somewhat sit-up. With his spark free of Tarn's vice-grip, he could feel the animus in his body start to return, but nowhere near quickly enough. All he can do for the moment is lay there, taking in the sight of Tarn's charred body laying motionless on the metallic floor. Despite what happened, despite everything that Tarn did, all he could feel was a crushing guilt.]

[After a few minutes, he checks his MID. Someone needed to come down to help clean up the mess.]

[Chara's eyes follow the package, and the exchange before they walked in plays itself over in their mind. They're here for Chara's sake. Those are chocolate covered sweets, and he's getting it because he knows they'll enjoy it. It's almost like he's not the kind of person that could break a person in half without breaking a sweat, except he is. But he's also already a better brother than that faceless human in Chara's memories, the one that was taller and safer than their human parents, but far less reliable--Eggsy wasn't like any of those humans. Starflight looked back at the Ingress, then down at his diagram, then back again. An extra set of eyes would be helpful, but he didn't bring any other writing materials, planning on taking his own notes. And anything beyond that...

"No.....I don't think so. I don't want to disrupt anything if I don't have to. I've seen what happens when an Ingress breaks. It's definitely not something worth risking, no matter how interesting this particular Ingress is."
