far from nowhere
"the trees rustle in the evening when we stand uneasy before our own thoughts."

With the events of Del Pascia behind the Moira, things are only now beginning to settle—and not very well. Through the combined efforts of some of the crew, D-E-L and her permanent residents were incinerated into the dust of space. While it’s not the most peaceful end, it is one, and not many are going to be thinking back on how nice Del Pascia’s facilities were for quite some time. Repairing what they could of the ship’s interior and putting as much distance between the Moira and the prison as possible, those aboard are informed by Navigation that they are approaching another planet. This means, of course, the potential for better supplies, as some things are beginning to dwindle, and the Captains elect to dock so long as the crew follows protocol.
WELCOME TO AMISSIS-RE

Amissis-Re is an unregistered planet with no documented histories or signs of life. The Moira’s Navigation crew have scanned the planet for any usable resources and have discovered a faint signal emitting from beneath the surface of Amissi-Re. Using the transporters and any other crafts located in the Cargo Bay, the crew are able to travel to the source of the signal. Upon arriving in its exact location, they’ll find a small series of lakes that lead to a tower-like structure that appears to be in use. Crew must cross a poorly assembled bridge system that sways and dips when weight is applied to it in order to gain access to the entrance. Once there, a woman comes out to greet them and explains, excitedly, that she is so very happy that they have come to Amissis-Re.

Everyone can go home.

Their host insists that she has done the impossible and has somewhat fixed the Ingress that’s been built on Amissis-Re a long time ago, and what’s more, she can send crew home for short bursts of time. Upon following this woman inside, crew will find that the planet is not, in fact, barren at all. Diving deep into the underbelly of Amissis-Re, it’s like an eternal factory of machines, and while vast, for whatever reason, it also seems incredibly welcoming...

LEAP OF FAITH ( 05.01 and on )
The barren planet of Amissis-Re is devoid of vegetation and organic life except for a lone woman, and the planet itself is an intricate honeycomb of machines that go for miles below the surface. Yet, that seems insignificant and unimportant in comparison to the news that the crew has just received. After Thán has looked at the Ingress, he tells the crew that he cannot say for certain that it is properly functioning, but Emiri native, Ben Link, will volunteer to test it out.

An elevator takes crew down to a glass platform that overlooks an inverted Ingress portal. In order to return home, the Moirans will have to take a leap of faith and jump in. Ben, in order to show his commitment to the crew and willingness to help get them home, takes that jump with Captain Thán seconds behind him. Jumping feels like dropping through wind; lights swirl, it’s warm, and a soft buzzing encompasses you as you fall. You don’t feel the landing. One moment you’re falling, and the next, you’re in a new world.

A few hours pass before a similar elevator rises from below and to the left of the Ingress, stopping beside the platform. Ben and Thán step out unharmed.

It works, and everyone can temporarily go home. Will you jump?

COMBINE THE EXTREMES ( 05.01 and on )
The woman that greeted the crew and led them to the platform will allow anyone that wants to go home the opportunity to go. There’s only one catch: it’s not permanent. She’s worked for years to fix the Ingress so that she can return to her own home but hasn’t been able to make the trip an everlasting one. Everyone always comes back. Always. They go for a few hours, at first, but that amount of time increases with each visit.

The one guideline, she says, is that you can’t go alone. Each trip requires a partner, or it becomes too much for the mind to bear. These rules are simple: the world takes shape depending on who jumps first, but if crew go hand-in-hand and leap at the same time, the worlds combine. This new world will be populated with people that existed in both and may appear to be a jarring combination of both worlds. It may seem unusual, but if the woman is asked, she’ll explain that the combined world does exist as there are more universes than can be imagined. The Ingress tries to take the person to their own home, their original home, but when jumping together, it finds the closest possible match and deposits them there instead.

From that point on, you can travel the world together or split up, but remember, this world is a living, functioning world. It doesn’t matter if it’s the home of one crew member or a combination. You meet other people. You can get hurt. You influence and are influenced by others.

Be cautious, and enjoy your visit “home”.

LINGER ON ( 05.05 and on )
The more times the Amissis-Re Ingress is visited, the more it seems that your trips last longer and the experience becomes even more vivid. More real and harder to distinguish from the current reality that you know. It’s difficult to explain why, but you get the feeling that maybe if you went without the aid of the host, that perhaps you’d be able to stay. Forever. It takes some subterfuge, but in time, you see your chance: she’s nowhere in sight, and you take it.

The world you are in now is completely your own, whether another crew member accompanied you or not. The people you know are there, everything around you is exactly as you remember. A few hours pass, and you don’t feel that familiar tug, that invisible hook at the base of your spine that signals that your visit is over. Even more time goes by, and you’re still in that world, your home. When the first day has passed, you begin to question if you’ll ever go back, or if life on the Moira was all a dream. The person with you won’t be able to convince you otherwise, and they’ll start to feel less real, a stranger that you used to know.

There’s only one way to go back to the Moira. Someone from the other side has to come in and retrieve you both. Once in, contact with a third will jump-start a link through the Ingress, and it will pull all crew back to the platform.

There's at least that, thankfully. Not that Bruce doesn't have some amazing discipline, but dating Trish has made this kind of thing a little difficult for him— hard, you might say. There's only so much frustration one guy can bottle up before it starts spilling over.

"No," his words catch in his throat when her foot traces along his inner thigh, but he doesn't pull away, his knees shifting apart just a hint instead. "No, it's not a bad thing at all."

She bites her lower lip a little when she feels him spread his legs ever so slightly for her, he's just so fucking sexy sitting across from her, talking in his usual calm voice while he is inviting her to tease him further.

She wouldn't really mind if some of that frustration did spill over, but that is something they're just going to have to take really slowly, and she knows that.

Her foot stills before reaching his groin, however, and her expression shifts from teasing to sincere.

"I can dial it back. In general, I mean."

Not just on this particular date.

It's a very peculiar situation here, and as much as Bruce would love to just quench his frustration, he knows he can't, not so easily anyway. They'll have to be both slow and careful about this, something he thinks they've been doing well with, though in moments like these he's reminded that Trish isn't quite as patient as he is, and likely not as disciplined at denying herself what she wants.

Which is fine, really. He'd just like to be able to pick up to her pace, instead of forcing her to slow down to his.

"I know you can. But I don't want you to."

He holds his hands out towards her, beckoning her to give him one of hers.

She lets her foot slide back down his leg befor she gives him her hand, leaning her chin on her other one.

"Just making sure."

She doesn't mind waiting, as he knows she is a thoroughly satisfied woman, and even if that too would have been something they had to be cautious about, it would still be more than worth it to her.

Liquid glanced over to the door. So far so good with none of his team coming back to visit him, but who knew how much time they had? Next time, he was bringing someone who he could plausibly pretend he'd just met around here. "Big Boss" could get exposed at any time, this way. At least now he knew where he might end up.

"Some of those things are still pretty extreme compared to where I'm from. But space travel's not so widespread either, so the place has to be pretty damn futuristic, right?" He laughed, pushing his chair in and walking back over towards Venom.

"We're not entirely structured that way. I'd say occasionally Mantis or Octopus take up a similar role, but beyond me in charge, we're essentially just here for our strengths, not any sort of structure. We go by whose skills are needed where."

[She manages a small smile and reaches out to loop an arm around Peter's shoulders like she would for Pietro.]

River and I don't pretend to be princesses. [Or do tea parties with stuffed animals or any of the other things Wanda wished she had a sister for when she was little.] But I don't think it should be hard to find something for both of them.
t65: (cut the chatter dumbass.)

[personal profile] t65 2016-05-15 03:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe I'm just a little dim. [He says it with a smile, joking.] You're completely different from any species I've ever encountered. Why did you transform into things before you came here?

I don't mind. It w-... [A smile curves onto Luke's face.]

[Look, he doesn't think the Force is 'magic'. He thinks 'magic' is a limiting term for the true greatness and potential of the Force. But he understands, moreso now than he used to, the true power of that metaphor. People can call the Force magic; unless they're Jedi, it doesn't limit the Force, just their appreciation for it.]

[More importantly, though, he's a Skywalker. It's his duty to show off.]
Like this? [Luke reaches out, and snow at their feet rises into the air, forming into a snowball in Luke's hands. He's grinning, and doing his best to keep it merely pleased and not cocky.]

Afraid not, no. [ miles, still trying to catch his breath, pushes himself up a little straighter to sit up properly so he can support his casted arm. ] How's it work?

[ he's a very curious man, and it shows in his intent interest as he looks over at luke -- that, and the more he gets to know luke, the closer he'll get to figuring out...something to do about the fast-penta. something. ]

however you want to do it is fine

[personal profile] meyneth 2016-05-15 05:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Huh?

[Fiora turns to where Med'an is looking, and her eyes land on the armored monarch-like statue - piece? - that he's gazing at.]

Wait, so... these are based on real people? [She tilts her head.] That's pretty cool... did you ever get to meet this King yourself, too? Your dad must have been important if he knew kings.

[personal profile] meyneth 2016-05-15 06:01 pm (UTC)(link)
[His reaction make her giggle, and she stops walking so she can plant her hands on her hips and grin at him confidently.]

I don't think you realize how fast I am. So, it sounds like a fair match, hm?

[Turning back towards their goal line, she digs her heels into the grass eagerly.] First one there wins, and don't get too close to the water. It's poisonous and the brogs can be quite ornery. Ready?

[personal profile] meyneth 2016-05-15 06:19 pm (UTC)(link)
[Oh, that's right, Leia is a princess. Fiora had forgotten about that. She acts pretty normal - not much like the stuffy, naive princess she's familiar with from home.

Fiora follows Leia onwards towards the city in the distance, her pulse quickening with anticipation.
]

Well, you can just tell them I'm your bodyguard. How about that? [grins.] Whatever we could collect would be great! I wanna see all of it! Maybe some foodstuffs too? Then we could bring it back to the ship, and I'll cook it up for you.

[personal profile] meyneth 2016-05-15 06:22 pm (UTC)(link)
We could go somewhere with flowers. There's a beautiful forest called Makna - flowers as big as your head, and bigger.

[Grinning, she starts to wander towards the inverted Ingress, beckoning him to follow.]

You like flowers? After meeting your brother, I wouldn't have guessed you'd be the sensitive type.

Mmm, yes and no. Asgardia is the current home of the gods, yes, but not where we came from. Not quite a copy, but a replacement for Asgard.

[After he'd crashed it into Midgard, in his past life.

But.. If this is the dungeons of Asgardia- his future self might be here after all. And surely his future self had never expected Loki to come back here, which might... perhaps give him the element of surprise. A chance to shake the smug look off his future self's face- except, of course, the hand on his shoulder reminds him he doesn't want Eggsy to meet him.

It is a rather nice gesture though, and he surprises himself by managing a very small smile for Eggsy.]

There's a way out, yes. Oddly, the dungeon itself is more designed to keep people out than in. Also one or two rooms of treasure, if you'd want to go exploring in those. Little point being stealthy about my presence here now, I suppose.
realitywarped: (Unhappy - Thoughtful)

See? I managed to stay entirely out of trouble, as well.

[He gives her a small bow, but hovers, arm extended in case she needs to steady herself after that landing. They've been here long enough to be found, especially after the necessary but visible and noisy scouting trip, and Loki's starting to get antsy about it. With his other hand, he draws Gram, the sword he's had little excuse to use recently but is suddenly rather glad to have.]

There are sly things here, too- ones that aren't even me. Town... may be safer, at least, depending on what Themis is up to right now. At least there will be buildings there, and perhaps even some of my spells still in place.

"No. And if he has brains he is hidden away or he is preparing a getaway."

Still holding the pistol, Niko crept to the door, lurched around the corner, and sent a man slamming into the floor from the other side of the doorway, blood splattering from where his face hits hard linoleum.

"Come out come out wherever you are!" Never was one to take things lightly whenever he was found out. "You want to make this easy on yourself, give up!"

"They will return it when I leave it somewhere," he reassured her, peeling out from the parking space with ease. Well, relative ease. But still miles better than particular someones in their particular all-terrain vehicles.

"The cops don't care unless you inconvenience them. Is pretty easy. Made a lot of money and didn't require a lot of killing," he told her, bluntly. Because she deserved to hear and see the type of life he used to lead. Well, if she was going to see the results of it, might as well know how it went.

[The arm is appreciated; she has little ability to practice this particular aspect of her powers on the Moira so landing is still a little shaky. Wanda pulls some of the leaves out of the front of her hair and tucks it behind her ear - no distractions.]

You remember I can sense other minds, right? Hate and hunger are hard to hide.

[She stays close; empathic powers aren't necessary to pick up on Loki's nervous energy. The only thing stopping Wanda from preemptively pulling scarlet energy into existence is concern that it might make them easier to find. But she does raise her hands into the right position to drop an energy shield if something does decide to pop out at them.]

What lives in these woods? [And what could possibly be making a god this nervous?]

I don't know about that... I could stand to work more on it.

[But between getting moved around, things that have happened and his job on the ship... well, he could stand to be a little more focused. Especially if they ever do come back here more permanently.

Hopefully this isn't permanently.

Still, he gives a slight smile at the encouragement anyway.]

Oh, I don't know. Have you ever read the unedited fairy tales? Some of them are pretty dark. [He squeezes Loki's hand though, and leans up to brush a quick kiss to his cheek, appreciative.] You know I trust you on that.

"I'm here to bring you back through the Ingress," he says, standing tall even at the feet of the gigantic statues of the Knights.

It was clear enough that Rodimus was currently delusional, but perhaps enough punctures to that reality can be enough to snap him out of it. His armor lacked the scarring and prominent markings of a gladiator, it was free of the dark and fragmented paint of Kaon's warring underclass. His cannon was missing as well. All things that were very unlike the Decepticon leader Rodimus - Hot Rod - may have known.

"How long have you been here? Can you even remember?"

It's... the life energy of all things. Sometimes, with a lot of training, it'll do what you ask. [That is, he's sure, a terrible explanation, but Luke is tired. Maybe a demonstration would be better? Luke reaches out, and his prosthetic arm begins to float toward them. He plucks it out of the air, and begins affixing it properly to his arm.]

But- you saved my life, and I don't know your name. [He reaches out with his right hand, all shining metal, for a handshake.] Luke Skywalker. It's nice to meet you.

The obtuse answer gets her a tut, a soft click of the tongue that could be mistaken for mic static. The bouncer clearly didn't give a damn about who went in as long as they weren't too dangerous-looking, so the two of them slipped past without any fanfare into an entry hall, dimly lit in red.

"That was a krogan," she says, stopping them for a second. "He didn't get the chance to do anything, but he was probably biotic - so he could hurt people with his mind, sort of - he had guns, he was insanely strong..."

She ticks them off on her fingers - but she only has three, so it doesn't take long to run out. "And they have this thing called a blood rage, where they get even stronger and they just don't feel pain anymore.

"They're really scary, trust me. Unless they can do what you just did, whatever it was..." Her voice rises in a question.

[Not even the news about being able to visit home had been enough to drag out a reaction from J. If anything, hearing about the news had only made her feel more miserable instead of sparking any kind of hope and she had only shifted on her bed, continuing to hide away from the rest of the world.

While she didn’t exactly feel particularly ‘homesick’ anymore she did miss New York. The scenery, sounds, smells, the people. True, her life there had been as far from glamour as possible but the city had been her dream and she still couldn’t help but love just the thought of it. But still, so much had happened and there was still too many complicated feelings that made the idea of getting up and going out insurmountable.

But when Peter had suggested that she’d go with him J found herself answering ‘yes’ without a hesitation. So, for the first time since her resurgence (a time that felt like an eternity to her) she combed and styled her hair, painted her face with the make up and put on the skin-tight black dress and red heels she had arrived with. And for a moment she looked like her normal self.

With a bag hanging around her shoulder, she carefully steps through the portal and takes his hands to her own. She scans their surroundings quickly, trying to hide her nervousness before turning to look up to him and raising her eyebrow, giving him a questioning look.

How is he planning to get them there? ]

There's a few seconds where the awkward silence stretches out, and Tali finds herself remembering the human custom of crossing one's fingers, only to try doing it in one pocket and realise her fingers don't move that way. Then...

She doesn't know the noises Megatron's making, but she recognises them as some kind of mechanical language, and glances down at her MID surreptitiously as the salarian and asari recoil like he's pulled out a gun. Not an engineer. Got it.

"See?" she says airily, turning to the horrified aliens. "It's counting. Stop," she says to him, pretending her giant VI accepts voice commands, because why not?

"That sounds like a geth to me," says the salarian uncertainly, and Tali huffs an explosive, exasperated sigh.

"Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't know I was talking to an expert." She puts the affronted tone back on, and the salarian scowls at her. "Either go away or you can explain to the committee why this project is running late. I'm not taking a pay cut because of stupid questions."

Hopefully they don't ask which committee. But with that, she steps over to Megatron and starts fiddling with her omni-tool for all the world as if she's working on something vitally important to do with his programming. Muttering to himself, the salarian turns to leave, trotting to catch up with the asari who have already lost interest and walked off.

She manages to wait until they're out of earshot before bursting into soft, disbelieving laughter.

"I can't believe that worked."
